The Craftsmen (Amsterdam, North Holland) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Once home to the long-running Hotel Brouwer, The Craftsmen isn’t your typical canal-side stay. Housed in a 17th-century townhouse overlooking Amsterdam’s Singel, this spirited boutique hotel is where Dutch artistry takes center stage. Each of its 14 rooms honors a historic trade, from cartographers to shoemakers, all with upcycled antiques and bespoke pieces. Expect vintage tools turned into light fixtures, penny-farthings in bathrooms, and airplane doors repurposed as wardrobes. It’s wildly inventive, warmly personal, and still carries the soul of a family-run inn, albeit with a lot more imagination." - Tablet Hotels

It's just so unique and groovy. We stayed here on our last night in Amsterdam for two reasons. I love unique design properties and it received a Trip Advisor Yellow Owl award for best of the best. We previously stayed at the 5 star Waldorf which was luxury and lovely in every way, but a completely different experience and vibe. ||Hotel The Craftsman was a perfect choice for our last evening in Amsterdam because it was a quick 10 min walk through the beautiful 9 Streets area of Amsterdam to get to our evening Anne Frank tour, and also an 8 min walk to the Eurostar Train terminal for our journey to Belgium the following day. ||We landed a last minute room "The Artist". It's a two story hotel room, with a door directly onto the canal street, so you don't have to go through the lobby. It was views of the canal. Imagine a big beautiful comfortable bed, perfect pillows to get a great night sleep. Beautiful design and furnishings and wide wood plank floors with paint spattered all over the floors and some furniture in sort of a Jackson Pollock style. Adorable staff to help guide you on where to eat and how to get places (thanks Hattie and the Mgr whose name I forgot). We couldn't stay until the opening complimentary breakfast so they left us a to go bag and the most beautiful coasters to remember them by. The only thing I can tip I can think of, is I wouldn't recommend if you have any walking difficulties because the bathroom and sitting room are up a tight winding staircase. Overall, my favorite stay because of the beauty of the room, the location of the hotel near 9 streets and near the Jordaan area, the wonderful staff and the insanely comfortable bed and pillows. ||Of note, the Van Gogh and Rijks Museum are about a 30 min walk away if that matters, but it's a beautiful chance to get to see the city.

We absolutely loved our stay here! The rooms are one of a kind. What really stood out was the warm and friendly service. I can't say enough about Claudia, the manager. She was so amazing and helpful. We felt genuinely cared for and not just another guest passing through. The breakfast was also amazing. We will come back next year on our way to our Safari in Africa. Thank you so much!!!

We spent 5 nights at the Hotel Craftsmen, lodged in the Bike Builder room. This is an ideal boutique hotel for a stay in Amsterdam. Its location cannot be beaten. Situated on a picture-perfect spot in the canals, we were within easy walking distance of multiple sites (Anne Frank House, Tulip Museum, and Red Light District) and restaurants. Our room was charming, with a beautiful view of the canal and streets below from our window. Everything about the room was quaint yet so comfortable. The wardrobe closet and clawfoot tub made for unique vintage touches within a room that was otherwise equipped in a luxurious, modern fashion. The breakfasts suited us extremely well. We ate so well in the mornings that we managed to skip lunches most of days (if you don’t count a slice of Dutch apple pie at mid-day). Above all else, the service was impeccable. So many smiling faces and helpful people.

My husband and I stayed here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The attention to detail in our room, the lobby and sitting area enhanced our experience. The staff provided excellent recommendations for restaurants and experiences in Amsterdam. We stayed in the Airplane Builder which provided a beautiful view of the canal. 10/10

I truly enjoyed my time at this hotel -- it was one of the highlights of my trip. The service was lovely, so welcoming and helpful. My room was very thoughtfully designed with a unique mix of modern luxury and historical features. Being to enjoy the delicious breakfast with my window opened to a view of the canal was a very special experience. Highly recommend.

My family of four stayed here last week and had an amazing experience. I had seen this hotel in my search, but had already made a different reservation and thought we had missed out. When I saw availability about a week or two before our arrival, I changed our plans and I’m so happy we did! We stayed in the Blacksmith room because it offered the space we needed for our two teens, which I found to be a rare feature in Amsterdam hotels. We arrived a little before check-in time, and our room was ready for us by the time we got our key cards. Being a small hotel, we saw the same staff members each day, and every person was genuinely friendly and helpful. Our suite was incredible, and the attention to detail and design throughout the hotel was inspiring. My teens loved their loft with separate beds. I appreciated the cleanliness, comfortable beds, and the uniqueness of the entire property. It was so much more exciting than a standard hotel room that could have been in any city. We all looked forward to the included breakfast; it was a highlight of our day, offering a variety of fresh, healthy, and delicious food. We also enjoyed the location very much; it was simultaneously quiet yet central. There were nearby markets and shops, spots to eat, and of course, the beautiful Singel canal. Though we walked for much of our stay, the tram was only two minutes away, and Centraal Station was under a 10-minute walk. Highly recommend staying here!

We loved staying at Hotel the Craftsman. The room was comfortable and spacious, a good breakfast was included in our rate, and the staff was exceptional. They even gave us a couple little gifts. The hotel was quirky and interesting, and it was a great location (only a 10 minute walk from Amsterdam Centraal).

We had an amazing stay at this lovely and unique hotel. The location paid perfect; we walked everywhere from our home-base here. The staff are amazing. And the room was the coolest room we’ve ever stayed in! Highly recommended.
