We came back, this time with mum, daughter and niece for a girly weekend. and was delighted that the Hotel Touring hadn’t changed its style or service. As soon as we walked through the door we were welcomed with a smile. Very friendly staff who ordered us a car to pick us up from the airport and had our rooms ready so we could check straight in. Hotel Touring has a lovely rooftop bar but wasn’t open in October and to be fair it was a really rainy weekend. We are so close to the square right beside St Dominics basilica so it was so easy going out for dinner. The room was serviced every day. Oh and a good breakfast.

This hotel was a perfect base for our visit to Bologna. It is located on a quiet side street just off a main thoroughfare leading to the old city center. A leisurely ten minute walk will get you to the Piazza Maggiore or the Quadrilatero. ||Our room on the second floor was spotlessly clean, with ample closet space, beautiful bed linens, double windows that open, kettle for coffee/tea, and a small but well-designed bathroom. The morning breakfast buffet was very generous with eggs, breakfast meats, cheeses & cold cuts annd a wide variety of baked goods. Breakfast included made-to-order espresso drinks, which I really appreciated. ||The service at the hotel was outstanding, and you can tell that care and thought is put into every detail. We have stayed at boutique hotels in dozens of countries, and Hotel Touring ranks with the best.

Thanks to my fellow reviewers for recommending this hotel. I was skeptical because the name is not Italian, but this just goes to show that you cannot judge a book by its cover. This family-owned hotel, on a small quiet side street, is within walking distance of all the sights in Bologna. In addition to its convenience, it has the following attributes: helpful and polite staff; clean, well-appointed rooms with thoughtful amenities; excellent, immense and delicious breakfast buffet. I had a room with a balcony so could enjoy rooftops and sunsets despite the chilly late November weather. By far the best lodging I had while traveling around Italy.

Wonderful hotel for a stay in Bologna. Staff as so friendly and couldn’t be more helpful. The breakfast is actually plentiful for Italian hotel and very tasty selection. Rooms very clean and spacious. Overall a lovely hotel and in a very quiet location but only 10 minute walk to main square.

Excellent hotel. We stayed for five nights as part of a group visiting Bologna. The hotel is ideally situated - easy walking to the centre of the old town and several good restaurants nearby, but just off the main road so quiet. Breakfast was great, a delicious variety, even if it can get busy when a group descends together. Nice room with all the bits you need. And a friendly and helpful staff. Got it all!

Really an excellent hotel and great location. Everything perfect. The staff couldn't have been more helpful. Notably, I left my phone (first time ever, I promise!) in a cab; the cab returned it to the hotel. Already great! But the hotel packaged it up and couriered it to my next stop (Vicenza) promptly and efficiently, and above all graciously. It was some trouble for them, but they really really helped me out. We love the hotel (and Bologna) and will no doubt return.

We stayed for 3 nights while traveling through Italy. The staff were very friendly. They were various concerns, especially with this being a four-star hotel. The cleanliness of the room was not there. There was black mold everywhere in the shower. The heated towel rack in the shower was completely rusted which got all over the white towels. Some other issues was everything was an up charge. For example, I wanted 2 fried eggs at breakfast and they were going to charge the room because of that even though there were boiled and scrambled eggs available at breakfast. Also an annoying little thing they were requiring us to turn in our keys every time we left the room for some reason. I have never had to turn in my keys before leaving the hotel when I was staying multiple nights. All in all it was a good location and friendly staff, but we would not stay there again.

Hotel Touring Bologna exceeded our expectations by far! We came for a two night stay in Bologna that preceded a 5 night stay in Croatia for our daughter’s destination wedding.||My first interaction with the front desk before arriving was to make sure that the hotel had a parking space available to park. Since the hotel is in the limited traffic area, I provided them with our rental car’s registration #.||Initially, the hotel was a little difficult to find as it was tucked away in a narrow street. We were given clear instructions to drive to the front of the hotel & walk inside to the front desk desk to obtain the parking remote. After unloading our bags, the front desk person insisted on carrying our bags in.||I was provided with clear directions to park my car in one of 4 available spaces. The parking was very easy and the stalls were extremely safe & secure.||Our room seemed “fine” at first & my wife commented how nice the hotel appeared. As my first priority was to have our luggage dropped off & park our car, I did not notice the niceties of the staff, lobby, and bar.||The bathroom was very comfortable & our bed & pillows were luxurious. The next morning I overslept & “missed my breakfast appointment at 9:00 a.m.”. I asked the woman at the front desk where I could get breakfast nearby. Despite breakfast time had already ended, she asked if I preferred a “salty or sweet breakfast”. She went down to the breakfast room & quickly brought a beautiful plate of eggs, bacon & sausages & cappucino. She arranged a place setting for me in the lobby, in front of the coffee bar. At the end of my meal, Matteo asked if I wanted more coffee. I asked for an espresso, which was perfect! But Matteo shortly explained that the espresso maker he used had been in the family for many years. He showed me pictures from the Hotel Touring book & even pointed out a picture of the front window from many years back when his grandfather ran the hotel.||Around that same moment of our conversation and paging through the history of the hotel, I finally realized what a “gem in the rough” Hotel Touring was. As a person who pays very close attention to detail, I started noticing the beautiful choices of decor in the lobby. There were fresh cut flowers neatly arranged in small glass vases. The breezeway outside the lobby that led downstairs to the breakfast room was immaculately, clean and tastefully decorated. The breakfast room looked stylishly elegant & I appreciated the architectural design of the ceilings. ||After breakfast, I took the elevator to the rooftop patio. No one was there at the time, but the 360* view was worthwhile! You could tell that a lot of thought was given in designing each section of the outdoor patio. It’s a very relaxing area if you’re there by yourself, or even there with other people.||The front desk was always very eager to greet us & help us enjoy our stay in any way possible. They seemed to go the extra mile to delight us! We were also provided with great recommendations for restaurants.||We had spent 4 nights in Florence, 4 nights in Venice, and 2 nights in Tuscany. Our two nights in Bologna was very enjoyable. It is a beautiful city and I appreciated that we were not inundated with tourists like we experienced in Florence & Venice. I believe that the hospitality that was extended to us at the Hotel Touring contributed to our complete enjoyment of the city. I am thankful that the

Yelp
The location is really convenient: the hotel is inside the traffic-limited area but close to the free access zone and parking lots (not bad, if you are with a car). It's also close to one of the most elegant and fancy areas of Bologna (Galleria Cavour) and just 5 mins walking from Piazza Maggiore. The hotel in itself it's a real boutique hotel, that kind of effortlessly chic design for the lobby and the common areas, the Italian classic for the rooms. The rooftop is worth the staying. You have the most amazing view over the typical red roofs and clock towers of Bologna, while enjoying a Jacuzzi or a glass of wine in the lounge corner. Very sofisticate, but without trying too hard, if you know what i mean... As for the breakfast, there is quite a choice of handmade cakes, croissants, fresh fruit. The continental breakfast is also available (sausages, eggs, ham, salami, vegetables, etc.), but I didn't try it, since I am Italian and a purist! The staff is super kind and helpful. Elena, the girl at the reception, gave me the coolest advice, spacing from how to enjoy my staying in Bologna to where I could find the best flower shop in town! I will definitely choose it again, next time I am in Bologna.
