Townhouse Boutique Hotel Zurich (Zurich, Canton of Zurich) 35 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Certain images may spring to mind when you think of Zürich — bankers in suits, expensive chocolate, ice-blue lakes, sharp church steeples. It’s the kind of city where you’d expect to stay in a state-of-the-art business hotel, or at least a prim and proper guesthouse. Townhouse Boutique Hotel Zürich, located on the Bahnhofstrasse in the heart of town, is neither of these." - Tablet Hotels

We enjoyed our stay, but really didn't spend a lot of time in our hotel room. The location was very convenient to the train station, and there were lots of dining options nearby. Our beds were comfortable and we appreciated the air conditioner. The hotel was very pretty and we loved Zurich and all of Switzerland that we had time to see.

This was an amazing Boutique Hotel that we were able to snag one of the air conditioned jr suites that was lovely! Decorated in a kind of baroque style that is comfortable. Shower was fantastic w/very hot water! The young staff was excellent, kind, charming, and spoke excellent English. We were able to sit outside comfortably, people watch in a kind of alleyway as we sipped Latte Macchiato or an Aperol Spritz!

Stayed for one night with my daughter during the Euros. The hotel is in a brilliant location, and the room was clean, tidy, and very comfortable. All the staff were warm and welcoming. We also visited Flussbad Oberer Letten for a swim on Sunday morning — such a lovely spot and so close by! Would definitely recommend.

Excellent location only 2 minutes walk from main train station and tram stops even nearer. The hotel was clean and very comfortable. The staff were excellent, friendly and informative, on hand if anything needed but not intrusive. Thank you

Zurich is an expensive city and Townhouse is an affordable well-situated hotel within a 5-minute walk to the train station (including easy airport transfer), restaurants, old town and shopping. The staff was very accommodating, especially Leon who always greeted us with a smile. We stayed in room 12, a very large room with a large bathroom, lots of space for our luggage, storage, large comfortable bed and we appreciated the electric kettle with coffee and tea selection. This is an older building and it appears the room differ in size and amenities. We had specifically asked for a room not located on the top floor and would suggest one should specify any preferences (read the reviews and be guided accordingly). No AC but a good fan was provided.|A great location does come with some potential draw backs, including street noise and crowded sidewalks. With our extensive travel experience we never buy the breakfast offered at the hotels. Considering we are visiting a new country or city, we prefer to experience local restaurants and coffee shops for breakfast, usually with better quality, diversity and less costly. Overall, we were satisfied with our stay and would return to this hotel.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Townhouse Hotel. Very convention to everything. The train station was about a block away as was a grocery store and old town was a close walk. The hotel is clean, the bed was comfortable and the staff is very friendly and accommodating. I would not hesitate to stay there again.

This was the first time I’d ever stayed in a “boutique hotel“. I would say that this hotel does not qualify as luxury, modern, or businesslike, I think this hotel may be defines the word ‘charming’. The eclectic furnishings, common areas, and even the bar and front desk are the most unique combination I’ve ever seen. The staff is excellent. However, the room we had had a closet of a bathroom. I would suggest that you speak to the desk about the size of the bathroom if you check in here. Being there for two days, it wasn’t a big deal at all, but I can see some people being put off by the size of the bathroom. The breakfast was excellent, they have the best Americano I have tasted in a long time. And the place to eat is like sitting in a restaurant, not in a breakfast area of a hotel. It’s really good. In some ways, this was more like being in a B & B than being in a hotel , and that’s a good thing. So, if boutique hotels are your thing, I think this is the place for you, if you’re looking for sleek, business like, cookie cutter, go somewhere else.

My room has air con, and the toilet and room are huge and there is a small kitchen top, so it is very comfortable. However, the breakfast buffet is in a small bar, where you have to beg for food. I saw that the spoon container has a lot of trash inside - It was unhygienic. You have to cook your own eggs. Bread run out, ham ran out everyday. The waiters asked you to eat whatever they put in a small bar. It is pathetic. If you are looking for a good breakfast, then do not choose this hotel.

Yelp
Date of stay: May 23, 2025 Rooms: 11, 21, 51 A great little spot near the train station is just what we needed after being up for nearly 30 hours as we traveled from Chicago to Copenhagen to Zurich, and that's exactly what we got at the Townhouse Boutique hotel. Check in took a little longer than I would have preferred but once the city tax situation was settled we were off to our rooms, though one at a time because the elevator was akin to a small closet, to be expected in Europe! Rooms were quaint but comfortable, clean and decent enough for two people to spend a night. Staff were great with keeping an eye on our bags while we explored Zurich a bit, and you can't beat the location if you're coming or going to the train station just a block away.

Yelp
We felt like this was a real gem in Zürich, not that expensive, great location, clean and very cute Tea room attached. Room small but clean and everything we needed.

Yelp
Such a nice boutique hotel got a nice view of old town Zurich , the welcome beer was refreshing.. the proximity to tram station is so convenient since I was arriving from Berlin. This is a gem and I would highly recommend any one as the hospitable lite is just so genuine

Yelp
Zürich can be a pretty buttoned-up and staid city, so the dash of whimsy from this quirky and inviting hotel was much appreciated. It has a British countryside inn theme, with vibrant wallpaper lining the walls and hallways, and a slight dog and hunting theme in the decor. We stayed here at the beginning and end of a vacation to other parts of Europe and North Africa, and really enjoyed our stay even though Zürich was not our destination. Situated only a block or so from the main train station, which connects to the airport, Townhouse is super central and we could walk nearly anywhere we wanted to go. The bed was really comfortable, with Frette linens, and helped us ease out of jet lag and into vacation mode. We were also able to check in six hours early when we arrived without any pleas, which was so appreciated after flying in from SFO and landing early in the morning. I almost kissed the woman who was checking us in. No room service, but there's an 'Honesty Bar' with complimentary espresso and tea, and reasonably priced (especially for expensive Switzerland) goodies. There's a trendy cafe called Palette on the street level which serves breakfast-I think this was included in our room rate but I overheard some people saying that it was 21 CHF. For complimentary it's good but I wouldn't shell out essentially $20 per person for it, so if you stay here I would check into this. I couldn't control the climate in the room, and depending on where your room is located you have to contend with street noise as the street below is somewhat lively at night, but otherwise Townhouse is a comfortable and charming place to lay your head for a few nights.

Yelp
A welcoming cozy spot with a boutique feel, Nikita graciously provided endless help w/our efforts to obtain Covid testing for our return to the U.S. (in spite of our lack of Italian.) He was 100% awesome, retaining his calm demeanor in spite of our increasing panic. TY Nikita !! Very comfortable bed/pillows in a very clean room, w/unique antique furnishings. No fridge or microwave, but real china/glassware. Good room separation (couldn't hear other guests) but be prepared for loud street party noise (until early am Fri & Sat.) We enjoyed great d.j. music right up in our 4th floor room, just popped our own bottle of Prosecco.

Yelp
Basically, this was one of the best things that happened to me whilst in Zurich. That sounds like quite the declaration, considering there were lots of amazing things that happened during my stay, but this hotel is an absolute gem. For starters, the location is excellent. Being within two minutes from the main station, you can get absolutely anywhere you need in moments. This saved so much hassle and time, especially since the public transport here is the best I've ever experienced. Truly, I wish trains and such ran like they do here back in the UK. But that's another political debate. We booked two nights using the Hotel Tonight app, which I highly recommend checking out for good deals, so my experience was half the cost to their usual price. Granted, everything is expensive here for a visitor, but the discount was fabulous for what you get. If you're here on business or money isn't a factor, the value is still great at full price, in my humble opinion. It's a truly boutique hotel, and I was wooed by the velvet filagree wallpaper at first sight. It only has 25 rooms, I believe, but this makes your stay all the more private and personal. The main lobby is a gorgeous wee lounge room, with one reception desk (and the most lovely ladies to welcome you in) with the balcony and honesty bar further back. It's decorated beautifully, with Victoriana bureaus, quirky paintings, and even a little Queen (Lizzie) statuette, complete with nodding-dog corgi. The honesty bar system is a wonder. Any time of night or day you can grab a croissant/beer/packet of shortbread and simply write down on the booklet what you've taken. The prices seemed delectably reasonable considering a bottle of beer anywhere else would be about 5/6 francs, and here Heineken was just 3.50. There's also a liquor cabinet to make everything from Bloody Marys to Martinis, and the glassware to suit. As far as I could tell, no one appeared to flout the rules, which was lovely. I'd have been very upset if anyone had just helped themselves! Oh, and tea and coffee are free for the whole stay. The room has Molten Brown products, they're wonderfully clean, and the bed was a delight. It was just so comfy! I could hear the neighbour through the wall, but that was just the once, and never felt like a 'party' hotel, so the sleep was sound. The vintage theme is continued in the room, with gorgeous wall paper, and bedding. TV, FREE WIFI (I'm sorry, that was FREE FLIPPIN' WIFI!) and even slippers come with the room. I can't stress enough the free internet - it's ridiculous that anywhere charge you for wifi. All in all, it's been one of my favourite ever stays, ever. The staff made the trip wonderful, and I'll fondly look back to enjoying a cigarette on their balcony, with a fresh coffee, planning what exciting tram trip would come next. The balcony seats even had blankets to keep you warm. It's like a massive hug, within a cosy little hide away. I almost didn't want to leave.

Yelp
Expects more from an expensive downtown location. Old furniture. Beat up walls, no air conditioning. No parking, not even able to drop off luggage as there is no street access. Think twice about reserving this place /

Yelp
Very cozy and nice Hotel in a great Location (close to Zurich station - Hauptbanhohof - and to all the main shops and tram lines). Very well organized, rich "honesty" bar and minibar all night (you mark what you get). Clean rooms, strategically located, cool atmosphere. Loved the "living room" in old England style and the honesty bar at night, where you meet other guests...

Yelp
I travelled to Zurich for the first time recently and was expecting it to be a very expensive trip because I have heard that the hotels there are outrageously expensive. After checking a few hotels I was sure that this vacation is going to weigh very heavy on my pocket but then I luckily discovered Townhouse Boutique Hotel. This hotel is located right in the heart of the Zurich's City centre and it is just a block away from the main train station. Besides its wonderful location the hotel also provides well furnished luxurious rooms and great service and the prices are too good to believe. In short Townhouse Boutique Hotel provides complete value for money.

Yelp
Location! Location! Location! 3 mins from train station in quiet and nice side street. Room was very clean, lovely bathroom and comfortable bed. Friendly staff and good price for value. Only to be avoided during hot summer days as no climatisation and rooms become very hot.
