We just spent two wonderful days at the Hotel Triton in San Francisco as part of our trip up the California coast. For us it was perfect. The room was very nice, clearly recently redone as was the rest of the hotel. The staff were courteous and helpful. The “grab and go” breakfast just the way to start the day. We were surprised by some of the negative reviews we read: they sound totally different than the hotel we enjoyed. Great location, we left the car in the garage the whole time. China Town across the street, restaurants near by and an easy walk to Union Square ,Cable Cars, trolley’s and buses. We will certainly tell our friends about our “discovery”.

Great location. Described as a 'boutique hotel's , not quite sure why. Rooms are comfortable. staff helpful. Complimentary breakfast (toast, waffles, fruit, muffin, cereal). Perfect location right next to the entrance to China Town. 5 min walk from Union square. 10 min walk from Powell Street. Lots of places to eat/takeaways within 20 min walk

Beautiful and clean hotel. Wonderful experience. Sophie at the front desk was pleasant and helpful. Truly a class property. The free wine from 4-6 was something I’ve never experienced before. Nice offering. I’d definitely recommend and stay here again.

Terrible front desk service, unauthorized charges, and dishonesty – avoid this hotel! We had a very disappointing experience at this hotel. Despite having already paid for our room in advance, the front desk receptionist, Sophie, charged us again after we checked in—without informing us. On top of that, she also charged an additional $100 for “incidentals,” again without any explanation. We only discovered this when we went back to the reception and questioned the charges. Sophie casually said it was a “mistake” and that she had already reversed the transaction. We explained to her that as international travelers, we rely on access to our funds and she should have informed us immediately. She then claimed the money would be returned in two days, but we know from experience that such refunds usually take up to two weeks. We asked to speak to a manager or someone in authority, but Sophie told us there was no one available until Monday—only receptionists work during weekends, apparently. When we insisted on getting the general manager’s contact information, she provided us with a phone number. However, when we called it right in front of her, the phone simply rang inside the office. It was clear she was trying to deceive us and avoid accountability. This whole situation, the blocked funds on our card, and the lies we were told made us feel completely disrespected and taken advantage of. I do not recommend this hotel to anyone who values honesty, transparency, and proper customer service.

Sofie and King were absolutely outstanding! From the moment we arrived, they went above and beyond to make us feel welcome. Their warm, friendly energy instantly made us feel at home, and their genuine hospitality stood out throughout our stay.||They were not only professional and courteous, but also incredibly thoughtful and attentive to every little detail- always ready with a smile or helpful suggestion. It’s rare to come across team members who so clearly love what they do and make such a positive impact on guests.||Honestly, I’d come back just because of them. They made our experience memorable in the best possible way.

Hotel was clean and modern, liked the decor! Easy stay with my little dog:) Water and treat for her in the lobby. Great location near Chinatown and Union square so good for BART. Parking pricey but pretty average for SF.

Google
Very comfortable hotel. Really good location, next to the entrance of Chinatown. 35 min walk to Fisherman's wharf. 10 minute walk to Powell Street (where to get the Bart train to/from the airport). A nice surprise to get free breakfast 7-9.

Google
Hotel is cute and artsy, in an older building. Room was small but clean. The restaurant and gelato shop next door made it so nice (don’t forget to ask for your 10% discount at those places) My only issue was I wish the breakfast had some form of protein, it was plain bread slices, plain muffins, frozen waffles and cereal. I really wish they provided protein in some form, like yogurt or even hard boiled eggs, especially since they charged so much in daily fees.

Yelp
This was my second stay here. My experience was positive during my first stay in June 2024. Hotel Triton is a boutique hotel at Downtown SF across Chinatown. The staff/receptionists are friendly. It has a fitness center. Though not on every floor, there's a water refill station on the 6th floor. The rooms are small but they are spotless. Beds and pillows are soft. They also give a voucher worth $5 that you can use to get a snack. There's also a happy hour at 4-5 pm. Had I reviewed it in June 2024, would have given it a 5/5. However, their breakfast has changed a lot. Last year there were lots of choices including different pastries, cream cheese, etc. Now, it's limited to bread, ready made waffles, small muffins, some fruits (bananas, apples), juice, coffee. Because of this, I'd give it a 4/5.

Yelp
My experience at Hotel Triton was a positive one. I had some back to back work obligations, so it made sense for me to just stay over night in the city one night instead of driving back and forth from the South Bay. Check in was a breeze. The receptionist was friendly and kind. She offered up all the details I needed for my stay and on the little extras the hotel offers. I booked a deal on Priceline which, unbeknownst to me, reserved the room for differently able folks with a smaller, full size bed. The receptionist asked me if I needed this room, and I told her I did not. Fortunately, she upgraded me to a room with a queen-sized bed, which I very much appreciated. The room was cute! The decor was up to date, with plugs to charge devices on the nightstand, a television with chromecast, a modern bathroom, and trendy decor. It was also very clean. The room also has a fridge, a safe, and a carafe to fill up with their specially filtered water on the 6th floor. There is no in-room coffee maker, but they have coffee from 6 am in their reception area and in the grab and go breakfast room at 7. The only possible issue was that the building was old (of course, it's SF) and my room was not far from the elevator. So when people closed doors or even played music in their room, I could hear it. I had to wake up fairly early so this wasn't too problematic for me, but if I wanted to sleep in, I probably would not have been able to. One of the things I appreciated about this hotel was all of the little extras. Now, of course you can argue that you pay for all of this with your resort fee. But I've been places where you still pay a resort fee and get far less. These are the types of things that communicate to guests that a hotel really wants your stay to be a pleasant one. They have a grab and go breakfast area from 7 to 10 am. When I was there, they had coffee, tea, juice, nutrigrain bars, waffles, muffins, bread for toasting, and fruit. Most of this I could not eat (because gluten), but I was glad to have some coffee and fruit before jumping into what would be a very busy day for me. Other amenities included a wine reception from 4 pm to 6 pm, which I missed because I did not check in until after 8, a voucher for a free item in their little convenience shop, and 10% off coupon for Cafe De Le Presse next door. Oh, and they also have a gym, which is a rarity in SF. Overall, I was very pleased with my stay at Hotel Triton and would absolutely stay here when I'm SF again.

Yelp
Cute boutique hotel. However, during my stay, my cards stopped working three times. The elevators stopped working which required me climbing up and down 7 flights of stairs. Breakfast is very limited, so if you have kids or picked this place to save on breakfast, I'd maybe look elsewhere. Late checkout is $30 to extend until 2PM. There is a 4-6 PM happy hour with complimentary wine, which is cute and thoughtful. The area is good as well - a bit of a walk to BART.

Yelp
We live in the Bay Area but may stay overnight in San Francisco if we have a late night event. So, we have stayed at the Hotel Triton before and found the room comfortable and staff are friendly and accommodating. We spent the night Friday, September 20, and were highly disappointed. The room had a king bed in it, which was fairly comfortable. However, it took up so much room that the base of the bed and the dresser had so little clearance, only one of us could walk through at a time. The bathroom had a terrible setup and was a huge disappointment. IF one did not include the walk-in Shower, the "vanity area" in front of the toilet was not much larger than an airplane restroom. No counter space at all, I had to put my items on the dresser next to the television. All that would fit was not much more than 2 toothbrushes, toothpaste, brush, and one small cosmetic bag. If one wasn't careful brushing hair or teeth, one could hit their elbow on the wall because the sink was in a narrow alcove. I would rate that bathroom as the worst hotel bathroom ever, 1 out of 5. We stayed one night but, if our stay was for two, we would not have stayed the second. By the way, it was Room 506. We gave our comments at checkout and they were apologetic and said they would pass our comments on. have not been contacted. Too bad, as we will not be returning. Hotel staff is professional and friendly.

Yelp
I rarely leave reviews, but my experience at Hotel Triton was so egregious with specifically Milenia that I feel compelled to warn future guests. I paid for my room in full, and upon check-in, Helenia kindly assisted me, confirming that I was all set with no additional charges as I "paid in full".The same reassurance was given at check-out. Yet, without warning or authorization, my card was hit with an undisclosed fee. I understand hotels have hotel fees, but what's unacceptable is being explicitly told my balance was clear, only to be secretly charged later. When I called for an explanation, I encountered Melena, whose behavior was nothing short of appalling. Instead of addressing my concern, she laughed at me, refused to explain how they could charge my card without consent, and then hung up on me. When I called back, she doubled down, outright stating that "she doesn't care." This level of disrespect and unprofessionalism is beyond unacceptable. A front desk agent should be prepared to handle issues--not mock guests and evade accountability. The hotel's card handling process is also deeply concerning, as they conveniently "keep a card on file for security" without showing the amount they intend to charge. The experience with Melena and the hotel's deceptive billing practices completely overshadowed that. Check the reviews all over this place, everyone has complaints about this same fee, the problems here is they never tell you about it. The other problem is how disrespected I was even asking about it by their own front desk staff. That is even worse than the charge itself. I have worked in customer service for years and have never encountered such blatant disregard for honesty and guest experience. If this is how Hotel Triton operates--misleading guests about charges and hanging up & laughing at them when questioned--then I'd strongly advise anyone considering a stay to go elsewhere. A hotel is supposed to be a place of hospitality, not a game of deception backed by rude and dismissive staff. Another note: we booked "deluxe room" and were given a twin bed room (that is not on their website!) The room we booked showcases two windows and a larger bed. Another really weird deceptive practice on their end. Very disappointed.

Yelp
Love, love, love the location! It's right by a cafe, gelato, starbucks, about 10min walks away from center of union square(where the ice rink is during the holiday), and at the entrance of China Town. You really can't beat it's location. Parking is down the street in a secure location. The only downside - continental breakfast, was ok... we hoped they would add more since a lot was closed for the holiday.

Yelp
My family and I recently took a trip to San Francisco and stayed at the Triton. If you want the following things to happen, please stay at the Triton: (1) Expect the room you booked with double beds to be changed to a king bed and a pull-out roller bed for the second person in the room. (2) Your room will likely be hot and stuffy, and unfortunately, the maintenance guy had already gone home for the day. (3) Prepare for shower water to flood onto the floor. (4) There is no bathroom vent, resulting in (5) wet bathroom tile floors. (6) Overall, expect a stay with an 'I don't give a care' attitude. The hotel has a charming appearance and seems clean, but it is old and has numerous issues. Choose wisely, as this is more of a 2 or 3-star hotel, even on a good day, rather than a 4-star establishment.

Yelp
i stayed here on a business trip for 4 nights. overall it was a great place to stay - in a convenient location but also quiet in the room. guests can get a 10% discount at both the restaurant and gelato place next door and they have free happy hour from 4-6 pm every day, although i didn't actually get to take advantages of these amenities. i had never seen a shower setup like the one in the bathroom - the glass divider only covers half the shower and there's a hole in it. the hole is so that you can reach your hand in to turn on the faucet before actually getting in the shower. the continental breakfast was a bit disappointing as the options were limited. additionally, there was a resort fee at the time of checkout (roughly ~$43/night) that i wasn't initially aware of.

Yelp
What a beautiful boutique hotel. First let me tell you about how awesome the staff is. Upon checking in I had an issue with my corporate credit card and the employee was super kind and patient until I resolved the issue with the bank. The hotel is located right near China town and as well on a "posh" street. Breakfast and coffee is served every day and there is happy hour everyday in the lobby. The rooms are on the smaller side, but super clean and nice. If I had one "negative" feedback is that there was no chair or desk for me to be able to work on, but made do with going to the lobby and sitting there. There is a delicious Gelato place right next door (and you get 10%) and you have a Starbucks just across the street. Blue bottle coffee has 2 locations near by. I never felt unsafe or worried when at the hotel. This will definitely be my go to hotel going fwd when visiting SF.

Yelp
I had to come to San Francisco for work, and my usual business hotel, the Omni, was almost $600/night. I found Triton, a 10-minute walk from our office and a reasonable price, and thought I'd try it out! This is an incredibly cute, well-decorated boutique hotel. I know SF is known for older hotels with rooms big enough for just barely a bed, but I was pleasantly surprised with how comfortable my room was. It had a small desk, lots of outlets and chargers, a filtered self-serve water machine one floor up, a refrigerator, and every amenity I needed. The bed was super cozy. I LOVED that the clear shower divider had a hole for your hand so that you could turn on and adjust the faucet before actually getting in... genius! My room was facing inward so the view wasn't great, but it was quiet and away from street noise while still getting sunlight. They offer complimentary happy hour from 4-6 with wine, beer, canned cocktails and snacks, and free coffee in the morning! They also didn't charge me for early check-in when I arrived around noon (Omni charges $75 for that!) The hotel is right next to the Chinatown gate and is so easily walkable to restaurants, bars, a Starbucks across the street, Union Square, and the mall. It's pretty close to the bougie, luxury stores I can't afford to walk into, and I always felt safe walking around alone. I loved staying here and would totally book it again!

Yelp
The hotel rooms are good enough. Service is good. What is not good is the breakfast. They say it is a "included continental breakfast", but it was so disappointing. Croissants, bagels, apples and a few muffins options, with orange juice and coffee. No water provided in the breakfast room. Was expecting at least that. Also, I payed the valet parking and my car reported through my phone app that the doors were left unlocked multiple times. Nothing was stolen but still, I got concerned. I talked to front desk but they said it's a safe parking lot. The hotel is decently nice and good location. UPDATE: We checked out and they added a $35 fee a night for "amenities", which included wifi (which said on the website that it was free), the breakfast (which said it was included in the original price), the water filter, a $5 voucher for a shop which they never told us of, and a happy hour that was barely advertised. Would NOT recommend staying here. You can find something better for same or cheaper price. Trust!!

Yelp
The worst experience EVER!! I was taking over a coworker room. She was supposed to check in on Sunday but she didn't and I arrived on Monday. They had put the room as a no show. I arrive the next day and check in and pay the deposit of $336 but because they never removed the no show the system charged my card on the third day (Wednesday) $1,200 the hotel couldn't actually tell me what the charge was for and just said it's a mistake it should drop after check out. I checked out on Wednesday morning and to my surprise I got another charge on Thursday of $445. The hotel didn't even take any responsibility of their mistakes and still changed the charges of my invoice first it was $218.66 and now it's $327.99 to charge me for an extra day that I wasn't even there save your money and go somewhere else.

Yelp
I'm a huge fan of hotel triton! I'm from sf but moved to Miami 2 years ago and come back here often. Have stayed at MANY hotels in the city and just love hotel triton! Not a *super* fancy or 5 star hotel with tons of amenities but very comfortable rooms at a great price, perfect location close to union square but not quite in the chaos, and I love the staff! Awesome people and super helpful & friendly. The daily wine hour is also a huge perk! :-) Best all around value I've found in the middle of the city!

Yelp
We just stayed at Hotel Triton and I debated on giving it a 3 or 4 - it's currently at 3.5 on average which is just right. Positives - location. If you want to walk to Chinatown or cruise Union Square, you're in a great location. The service staff were very friendly and the lobby was quaint and nice. Not so positives - a little noisy since you're near two busy streets. The room was clean and efficient but small. It's really the perfect value for a hotel where you're doing all your sightseeing in SF and just need a nice place to land for the night. For the value, the hotel definitely does the job.

Yelp
Hotel Triton is now our #1 San Francisco hotel. 1) Beautiful lobby with biscotti & hot beverages in the morning and wine happy hour at night. 2) Even though we were in city, our room was so quiet at night. It's rare to find a hotel room this peaceful . 3) The bed was really comfortable and the bedding was top notch. No scratchy hotel sheets here. 4) I can't say enough nice things about the staff. They were great! 5) Location, location, location, There isn't a better situated hotel in the city. Chinatown, Union Square and Nob Hill are all well within walking distance. 6) Thanks Hotel Triton. You made our vacation a memorable one.

Yelp
Stayed here for a work trip and just the right kind of hotel, all I needed was a bed and a shower and both were provided.
google avatar

Yelp
Very old building, with small rooms. No desk, no seating in the room. The king-sized bed filled the room. The bathroom is so tiny that only one person can be in it at a time, and it is hard to even open the door (that opens inwards). The electrical system in the room is comprised of multiple extension cords, and the room had an in-window air conditioning unit. Very underwhelming for the given price. And they charge a $29 "resort" fee after the stay - which is just a bogus fee - this is no resort! All in all, this is a rip-off compared to the competition in the area. I would recommend getting a hotel room at one of the nearby brand hotels.

Yelp
This was one of the cleanest hotels I've stayed at, and definitely the friendliest. We arrived a few hours early and I wanted to just drop our bags off but they gave us an early check in! They have free coffee in the morning and a complementary happy hour from 4-6. The concierge, Andrés, was particularly kind and helpful. I will absolutely be staying here again!

Yelp
5+ stars! We were here for a strategy offsite meeting. Absolutely incredible coordination by Candy at Hotel Triton for our first strategic planning offsite in a long time. The team had a very productive meeting, followed by a lovely happy hour. Candy orchestrated everything with the utmost care, personalized attention to detail, and pivoted quickly for last minute requests. They also added a little surprise & delight with a some Halloween themed decor, perfect for this week. The staff and general manager were all so welcoming and helpful. I am sharing this with our larger admin team as well - we'll be back!

Yelp
This hotel is so cute and cozy for a short getaway weekend It's in the downtown area and was walking distance to a lot of restaurants, stores and near Chinatown. I walked to the baseball stadium and it wasn't that far Only 25 mins away go Dodgers Front desk and door man are very sweet and kind people great customer service at all times of the day or night.

Yelp
I found a great deal for Hotel Triton on Hotwire on a search for a pet friendly hotel. They don't charge any fees for your dog's stay which is a plus for any fur parent! It was our first time staying at a hotel with our dog so I called them in advance. The person I spoke on the phone was so nice to inform me I did not any need prior approval to bring our pet. We settled in at 1pm having requested to check in early as well. Our room was clean, just the right size with all the basic amenities. It was facing the courtyard so there wasn't much natural light but nothing to consider as deal breaker. No self parking here so we left our car at the nearby garage for $39/day.

David P.

Yelp
Literally had mice running around in my room keeping me awake. There was nearly a 1-inch gap in the windows as well making it very noisy and potentially where mice had easy access in and out. Was pretty sure I saw mouse droppings right when I got in my room and should have said something right when I checked in. Turns out they were mouse droppings because the critters that left those were running around in the room at night. 7th floor.

Yelp
We went on a weekday so it was not crowded and the prices were reasonable. We got upgraded to a Premium King room and had a nice view of the Dragon's gate. Customer service was great. I appreciate the attention to covid safety measures and front desk staff were courteous. The rooms were clean and impeccably well interior-designed (renovated about 3 years ago). They had that modern oriental vibe. Normally a coffee machine and other basic hotel items were provided but due to the pandemic they were made available upon request. Just pay attention to the note on the desk with the listed room items. Can't beat the location, it is right across Chinatown's Dragon's gate. My kids and I had a blast exploring by foot. And because we went on a weekday, the area was not very crowded. It wasn't very loud at night, we had a restful sleep. There is a nice cafe right below the hotel but they are currently closed until further notice. All in all, the experience was fantastic. We will definitely be coming back!

Yelp
Want to first start off that the hotel itself is not horrible, its well decorated and is in a fun location, but the rooms are quite small and amenities are limited. My husband and I asked the staff several times for access to water, and they were unable to give us anything because they had run out. Quite frustrating that a basic need such as water is not accessible at a higher end hotel. The room was also quite warm and the in window unit did not do a great job at cooling down the room. Overall okay experience, just not great.

Yelp
I came with my new husband on our honeymoon, and this hotel was absolutely amazing!! After a long day out of touristy stuff, we came back to the room to see a seriously romantic surprise: Someone had left a bottle of champagne on ice, with rose petals and chocolate bars! We were completely shocked by this, and cannot thank the Hotel Triton enough for making this such a special experience! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Where to begin.. Let me start by saying the Front Desk staff is very helpful and welcoming. That's probably the highlight of this hotel. I wanted to stay somewhere a bit more eclectic while visiting SanFrancisco, unfortunately my stay at Hotel Triton has been a complete let down. The room is massively small, there is no coffee maker, n o t h i n g at all except some Hotel Triton branded bottled water. Upon walking in my room, I was immediately punched in the nostrils by a putrid stench. More upsetting than the odoriferous room, was the massive argument that ensued between my fiancé and I. He argued that the room smelled like SanFrancisco's finest homeless population reenacting a scene from Caligula with the heat turned all the way up and I said it smelled like the deep bowels of beached, decomposing sperm whale. This argument alone caused us to call off our engagement. I've stayed in SanFrancisco before at the Grand Hyatt and the Hilton Financial District, both far better than this place which I'm begrudgingly stuck at for the next few days. I'm sure by the time I return home, I'll have to burn all the belongings I brought with me so I don't smell like a musty fart. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

Yelp
Where to start?! Location, location, location to start! Right across the street to the entrance of China Town and in the heart of Union Square! The rooms are quaint in this boutique hotel. Employee Asal is FANTASTIC!!! Anything you could need or want, she makes it happen. This is my new fav hotel in Union Square. The lobby has cute books on designers like Louis Vuitton that I ADORE! Pet friendly. Friendly staff. Attention to detail and again....ASAL!! Check this place out on your next trip to SF. Quick and easy Uber ride down to the Pier as well for the tourist.

Yelp
I stayed for 4 nights with my husband who was on a work trip. During check-in, the agents had trouble finding a room for us and needed assistance from the manager who finally found us a room. At the same time, there was a "launch party" in the lobby for the new renovations. We went up to our room, which was a room with 2 doubles (not what was booked which is probably why no one could find us a room-they had overbooked somehow.) The beds were tiny but we didn't really have another option. The room was also tiny- the bathroom was so small the sink didn't even fit. The room was freezing and the bedding was minimal, like 3 sheets stacked on top of each other. I called and asked for extra blankets and they never arrived. The next morning we were woken up to workers hammering and laying carpet on the stairs 3 feet in front of our door. (Didn't they just have a launch party for completing renovations the night before?) We were not informed there would be any construction at all, let alone on our floor or right near our door. On the second day, we were awoken again around 8am to more hammering in the same spot. I asked to move rooms and the front desk agent kindly obliged to "get us away from the construction," which means they were aware it was happening and chose not to inform us. On the TV menu, it shows an option to connect to Chromecast so we can stream our Netflix and other apps from our phone. We spent 30 minutes trying to connect our phones and iPads before calling the front desk and were informed that Chromecast is not a feature on the TV, despite it being all over the menu. This hotel charges a $25 daily amenity fee but for what? Access to the closet-sized gym in the basement next to housekeeping? Use of a Chromecast that doesn't work? WiFi that is slower than my T-Mobile data? I understand that other hotels in the neighborhood charge an amenity fee, but that doesn't justify charging anything when your "amenities" are seriously lacking. The towels in our room even smelled like mildew. There was no compensation or even warning that construction was still taking place in the hotel which caused a nuisance to us in the mornings when we were placed in a room right in front of the carpet replacement. On top of this, the outrageous amenity fee, smelly towels, icy cold and tiny dark rooms, we will not be staying at Hotel Triton again. We are also informing my husband's employer to not use this hotel for any of their arrangements in the future.

Yelp
As you can see from what Jenna K. posted in October 2018, no repairs, now almost four months later. My husband is currently in SF for a conference, staying in the same (extremely tiny!) room at the Triton as Jenna K. had (check out the pics he just sent me). For a 'fully renovated hotel,' apparently the renovation did not include something as simple as doing a wall repair... or a toilet paper holder 'relocation' to EVEN make sitting humanly possible in the cracker box bathroom. The room is also very WARM, with a noisy, old window a/c unit (which should not even be a necessity in San Francisco in January!). Sad the Hotel Triton believes this (overpriced) room is actually acceptable lodging. The website states there is a work space in the rooms... but that 'work space' is but a tiny round side table with zero space to use a mouse if you need to use one. Definitely NOT functional for business travelers. ... and the staff tries to be helpful, but appear to be uninformed by management about business events happening in their hotel or where to direct people to go. Additionally... zero signage for in-house events. In other words... What you see on the hotel's website is not reflective of the reality! Perhaps this hotel is a marginally (and pricey!) option for tourists, but definitely not for business travelers.

Yelp
Hotel Triton is So Cute and Modern Chic! The boyfriend and I needed a place to stay at, with our small pooch and this was one of the options! Located right outside Chinatown, and with a parking garage nearby! They have Valet parking too I believe, so that's great. Inside, the ambiance is très cool! It is kind of small but we weren't at the Hotel much so it wasn't a problem. There are many places to venture to from here and we definitely took advantage of that. The rooms are nice and minimalist style? With just the right amount of utilities for someone that isn't going to spend much time in their room. It has a shower, a toilet and a TV that you can chrome cast to so we definitely played our music through that. I'm not going to say it's one of the best, because we did get a view of construction outside, something I was trying to get away from since our building at home is going under construction but anywho, it was just right.

Yelp
Trendy hotel that is well decorated. The staff was pleasant and helpful. We enjoyed the morning coffee and happy hour... although it came at a steep price (due to their daily amenity fees). The area is safe, just across from the dragon gate. However, our room was extremely small and had a very noisy old window unit. We couldn't wait to leave our room.

Yelp
Read the negative reviews, they're legit. This hotel is by NO MEANS a four-star hotel. Here are some examples: they say "we have a bar and restaurant" means there are bars and restaurants around our property. They have a "refrigerator" in the room, only to explain they actually have a "cooler," which makes a difference if you're actually trying to keep things...cold? They charge an additional $30 per day for taking advantage of the hotel having internet. Frequently called the front desk and it just rang and rang. Literally anywhere else at this price. Good luck.

Yelp
I was visiting San Francisco for a long weekend and only needed to book a 1 night stay for the last night of our trip. I came across Hotel Triton through Groupon which had great reviews. This hotel was previously owned by Kimpton hotels. It's a boutique hotel that is aging and starting to get run down, but you get what you pay for. It is literally at the edge of Union Square and Chinatown. The location is very convenient if you're planning to walk or lyft/uber to all your destinations. I wouldn't recommend bringing your car but if you need to valet, parking is $58 daily. We had checked out of our previous hotel at noon and arrived at Hotel Triton shortly after. We checked in with Shanikwa and she was very friendly. While our check in time was 3pm, we requested an early check in, which they were able accommodate. That was really nice since it was only about 12:30pm. Our room was located on the inner courtyard so our window was in the corner facing other Hotel Triton rooms and neighboring buildings. The good thing is that we didn't hear any street noise whatsoever. The downside is that it can be very claustrophobic. The only natural light that came in was from a small window in the corner of the room. Not to mention that the AC unit takes up half the window. Our standard room had two small closets, a bench, desk, mini bar, flat screen tv and full size bed. The bathroom was an average size with little counter space. I don't get the sense that the new management many any upgrades since Kimpton left. The tub and the carpet seem worn down. My room didn't have a coffee maker, but there was snacks and alcohol available for purchase. Also wifi was free. For a premium, you can book a themed room like the Kathy Griffin Suite or Haagen Daaz Suite. You may read that there is a wine happy hour, but that is no longer offered by the new management. This is a uniquely decorated boutique hotel with plenty of cute photo ops in the lobby. It got the job done and it was relatively comfortable for my one night stay. It's a solid 3 out of 4 star hotel, by hotel rating standards.

Yelp
This hotel was very different and eclectic, which was okay, but it really was missing a lot of what I usually want in a hotel. I was in the area for work, so am limited to the approved hotels that we can book. The room was clean, so no complaints there, but this building is really pretty old--it has to be--and my room was tiny. As soon as I walked in, it reminded me of the rooms I had in Germany (they don't do American-sized hotel rooms). My room had some weird thing for a head/sideboard, there was no working desk, there was no safe, and the bed wasn't all that comfortable. No restaurant either. My travel profile says "high floor" and I wasn't placed on a high floor -- so unfortunately I didn't sleep well due to all the SF noise that happens at all hours of the night...I swear SF is almost as bad as NYC (which is the reason I put "high floor" on my travel profile in the first place!). The staff was okay, no problem with them. The best things about this hotel was the Starbucks, Lululemon, and the great sushi restaurant across the street. Unless I have absolutely no choice whatsoever, I don't plan to stay here again. I'd rather stay farther away, and walk longer or take Uber.

Yelp
I stayed here recently for work. I booked it because of the good combination in price and location. It's close to the chinatown entrance and also to the center of the city. I walked around at night and felt safe walking around. The hotel seems to have updated itself in recent years. Cute lobby decor and we were greeted with a welcome macaron. I also forgot my toothbrush and they seem to have some nice free amenities if you forgot something. The room was cute and I enjoyed it. The bathroom was small but workable. I was in the 7th floor facing Grant and had a great view and didn't notice too much noise from neighbors. The room was also very clean and bed was comfortable. I would probably come back and stay here.

Yelp
Severely understaffed. One person working the front desk at all times. Same person answers all service calls. Can't get through from room. Takes forever to check in, get car if you valet, etc. King room is tiny.

Yelp
I love this place the decor is so cute . Smells so good and the staff is so nice . The beds were so comfy and they have free happy hour! Good wine ! This place rocks . The rooms are smaller so it's perfect for couples and singles. They kept our bags while we waited for our fight after checking out . So nice ! Thanks !

Yelp
I am disappointed. I paid for a "deluxe room" yet I received an average looking room, even worse I think. Door knobs don't work, no curtain or door for the shower (complete mess after every shower), we barely had any room to organize our stuff, drawer and sink is incredibly tiny, etc. I've had better experiences with other hotels, which are half the price of this hotel.

Yelp
We stayed at Hotel Triton while visiting San Francisco for 5 days and had an awesome stay there. To start, everyone at the front desk was very friendly, welcoming, and helpful. They also informed us that complimentary coffee is available in the mornings and complimentary wine in the early evenings. We took advantage of both, and so did a lot of other hotel minglers. Because of the free morning jolt of caffeine provided at Hotel Triton, the Starbucks across the street didn't get a lot of our business like I had anticipated. It was also nice to come back from a long day of walking/sightseeing and find a tall glass of wine waiting for us. The lobby, elevators, hallways, and rooms are very clean and decorated with modern furniture and accents. The rooms aren't huge, but they have all of the necessary ingredients to provide a little home away from home. The building may look (and is probably) old, but the rooms are all updated. Best of all, Hotel Triton was conveniently located for everything that we wanted to do. Chinatown was right outside our door, the major Union Square shopping district was right down the street, the BART train to and from the airport was only a few blocks away, and everything else was just a walk, cable car, streetcar, bus, or train stop away. I would definitely recommend the Hotel Triton to anyone thinking about visiting the San Francisco area. It's a great value; in a great safe, location; and provides exceptional service and rooms.

Yelp
The lactose intolerant need to stay away from the Häagen-Dazs Sweet Suite at the Triton. I mean, why would you torture yourself in a room that provides ALL YOU CAN EAT ICE CREAM? To celebrate the oldest niece's 16th year, the nieces and I decided to have a staycation and that room was perfect. The Triton was a good central point for all the things we planned to do and eat. While waiting to check-in, a staff member told me about the different treats offered (Arnold Palmer and fresh baked cookies in the lobby, the Kimpton Wine Hour, morning coffee in the lobby). When we got to the room, we found the hotel had left some candy treats and a bottle of wine for the birthday celebration. The candy went to the kids (mostly) and the wine was mine! The bed was comfortable and there was plenty of seating. The television was on a mount so we could shift it towards whichever side of the room we happened to be lounging in. The shower had good water pressure. The artwork was also perfect since they were food-related. And they made sure there was not one but two goldfishes in the room. We named them Bob and Guppy. But really, we were there for the Häagen-Dazs. I'm surprised none of us got sick. In the ultra cool dedicated freezer were 6 different pints - banana rum jam (all mine), chocolate chocolate chip, vanilla, coffee, pineapple coconut and caramel cone. There were even ice cream bars. We picked up whipped cream then sat on the bed and just tasted them all. And the next morning, we even got a couple more delivered including strawberry! The stay was wonderful. And being a member of Kimpton Karma has its rewards. Not only was there free wi-fi but a $10 bar credit which I used towards the Triton rubber ducky in the honor bar.

Yelp
Close to transportation and food options. Pack your earbuds because you can hear every little thing that happens in this place. Employees are nice enough. For a little more though you could probably find a quieter more polished spot.

Yelp
For the price of it. Shocking! we stayed on the 21st of May and I never will I stay here again. The check in receptionist was nice. It was the evening one that had no customer service esp that I had kids in tow with me. the room was so hot and for some reason their aircons would turn off after 2mins of usage. I came down at 3am as the kids and I were sweating and couldn't sleep and she offered To bring us a fan and never heard from her again. I was so glad we booked somewhere else the next day. The aircons are all the same as she tried sending me to another room - it's just outdated. it was oh so loud too that everytime it was on the kids would be awake and more so when it shuts down. no apologies, no nothing. Absolutely awful experience. No one even acknowledged this early morning. Felt like they are just concerned with bookings but not the whole customer service level thing. if you are a backpacker needing a sleep for a night perhaps then yes but if you want a comfortable and nice stay then it's a definite NO.

Yelp
My husband and I had a great experience staying here! Eddy, who works the front desk, was SUPER helpful! He went above and beyond every day we were there. Our room was very cute and clean. The wine during happy hour was nice to come home to after running around all day. Highly recommend Hotel Triton!

Yelp
I live in the Bay but my mom and I were having a bit of a stay-cation for 1 night in the city. Apparently there's a Groupon she swooped up for Triton. Conveniently close to Montgomery BART (we walked to the hotel with our small bags). Close enough to walk to Embarcadero Ferry Building, Union Square and super close to China town. The hotel room was tiny but fun with bright colors, a chalkboard to leave a note, and text on the walls. Very clean and surprisingly very quiet! Minus one star because when we were checking out we overhead another employee checking someone else in mention that there was free coffee and tea in the lobby but no one told us so we missed out on that! Overall great location and the lobby is definitely photo worthy!

Yelp
Pros: Cute little boutique hotel Awesome service from the concierge Right on the edge of chinatown, etc Posh Cons: Emphasis on little Expensive My main complaint - a BS "amenities fee" that's like $30. Like, the price you pay for a hotel is meant to cover the amenities they provide. Why isnt the charge oncluded in the upfront cost? Seemed like a cashgrab.

Yelp
Great location and price compared to other hotels. Our company had silly low per diems for San Francisco and unless I wanted to put people 5 miles away in a motel, I needed a boutique hotel downtown just blocks from our office. The hotel is located at the opening to Chinatown and is near what I call the French Quarter with Cafe Claude, Avant-Garde, and the best coffee shop within steps of the hotel. There is a Starbucks across the street. But the uniqueness of the hotel are the rooms. I had to check out my colleague's room on a recent trip. Every room has something interesting about it. Every room has some kitsch. Room 221 is a King Triton Suite. Yes it has the Zebra headboard and funky silver paint job but the unique touch in this room is what I call the Will Farrell "do you think I'm Sexy" whirlpool mirrored corner alcove complete with television. It also reminds me of the landlord in "Coming to America" wearing his Fedora and smoking a cigar in his new jacuzzi room. Check my photos for details

Yelp
Extremely disappointed. First, wouldn't allow me to check in as my wife did the reservation. We were in differemt flights and had to wait for her. Service from Front desk was abysmal. Second, noise at 6am from repair work was unbearable. Impossible to sleep. Third, gym is a joke. Had to spend $30 at Soulcycle instead. Fourth. Workers across the building will see everything that happens in your room. Don't walk naked in your room. No coffee machine in room. $320. JOKE.

Yelp
This is a newly renovated hotel It is located at the gates to Chinatown. The rooms are clean, small with a queen sized bed, no work desk no chair. But a useable bathroom. Not the biggest hotel room but it worked for me for three days and two nights.
