Le Tsanteleina (Val d'Isere, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Even against the tony backdrop of Val d’Isere, Hotel Tsanteleina makes a statement. This chalet-style luxury hotel is a scant three-minute walk from some of the best skiing in the Alps, and its rooms benefit from extraordinary views, as well as interiors that are one part rustic coziness and one part polished elegance. The Pure Spa is a lavish one, spanning two levels, the M Bar offers everything from co-working to après-ski to live music, and the restaurant, under the direction of chef Jérôme Labrousse, offers fine dining in a rustic-glam space to match the hotel’s prevailing style." - Tablet Hotels

Hotel was super convenient location a short walk to the base of the mountain (less than 2 mins walk). It was a charming comfortable hotel. The service from the staff set it apart. They were fantastic, super friendly, helpful, spoke perfect English. The included breakfast buffet had a huge selection and even included a bunch of fresh fruits and vegetables that you could press yourself for a healthy start

The last time I stayed in this village I was booked in at Le Blizzard next door and so I was very much miffed when I left it too late ⏰ to book - but I found a room next door and I’m happy to report it was an extraordinary hotel, great rooms, great decor, a lovely experience without it being invasive. You are so close to the main action and from the moment Lucas took my car keys I felt I was in capable hands and nothing was a trouble. I got my skis across the road , loaded my locker and I was set for a morning ski. The breakfast room is charming, the food was perfectly fine, perhaps the scrambled eggs looked a little dry and manky but I boiled my eggs anyway. Coffee was great. My only complaint would be that the rooms were a little too hot and dry and somewhat stuffy so keep a window open if you need a cold draft and some fresh air. High recommend would love to come again.

A nice place to stop by in the very centre of Val d'Isère. Wether for a quick lunch in the Salon, a Spa or even a Massage experience, a warm place with top services, great every time we come to Val d'Isère.

Really nice hotel with cosy/immaculate rooms and a great pool/sauna and steam room. I really enjoyed the breakfast selection and quality which fuels you up well for a day of skiing. Good facilities for ski storage and kind/friendly staff. Special thanks to Alizée on reception for helping to reunite me with lost property following my departure. Will definitely return soon.

This is a very difficult review because it could have easily been a five star review. We had a suite/apartment which cost us 750 euros a night. For this price everything should have been perfect especially since the hotel is four stars, and such a room rate is very high for four stars. The good things first: the hotel is close to the main ski lifts, it's a well appointed and well taken care of property, the spa is similar to that of five star hotels, the staff is very kind and helpful and nice. The bar has a great fun menu of cocktails and a nice atmosphere with a live piano player. Breakfast is pretty average but you have all the staples and a great selection of home made jams. Wonderful service there too. The reason for the three star review is that our room had constant issues with the heaters and we were cold, since it was the middle of winter. The hotel tried to remedy the issue by sending people to our room at least three or four times, then suggested we move to another room and tried to make it up to us by offering us two 30 min massages. The heat issue was resolved after the first night so we decided not to move but it returned at the end of our stay, when it would have been too inconvenient to move. This tells me the room had an outstanding or structural issue and they should not offer it to tourists before fixing it. And, in our case, at least the two nights we suffered in the cold should have been either entirely or partially reimbursed.

I'm not usually one to complain about hotels, but I felt so strongly about writing a review I've created a TripAdvisor account just to write this! We had read good things about the hotel on review sites and in TripAdvisor comments. We don't consider these to be accurate - we were really dissapointed with our stay and it put a dampener on our trip. ||The hotel is really basic for the room rate you're paying. Whilst Val is extremely expensive these days generally, there seem to a be a number of other hotels in the price range where you're getting a lot more for your money. The primary pull factor you're paying for here is the location, which is excellent (albeit can be very loud at night and in the early hours being on the centre of the main "strip"). The spa is also a standout factor and has clearly received a lot of investment. ||Unfortunately there are a number of negatives to this hotel which would lead us to strongly recommend looking elsewhere:||- We stayed in an entry level room, which is tiny and extremely basic for the price point. The bathrooms are extremely outdated and inefficient - our shower regularly leaked everywhere. There is no bath and they are poorly designed. The room itself was so small it could barely fit our luggage. The room did not contain a kettle, coffee machine or any other similar amenities which should be (and are) included in any 4 star hotel at this price point. When asking about this we were told only the more premium rooms have kettles - there was no effort to provide us with one despite asking. This is hardly a large ask and is a basic point of most hotel rooms. ||- The beds are the most uncomfortable we have ever stayed in in a hotel (and we travel a lot). We also heard other guests complaining about the mattresses. They were bad enough that we considered moving hotels as we were getting no sleep / serious back issues. After a lot of complaining (which we would never usually do) the reception put us in a suite for our final night (with no assurance the bed would be any better). Whilst a reasonable gesture, the mattress was equally terrible. I can't imagine paying full price for one of these rooms - they are again very dated and poorly designed. ||- Whilst the food at dinner was a good standard, there was only one other cover during the night we are in the restaurant. Other restaurants at hotels / in the town were fully booked when we went. Whilst you may read this is an exceptional / much desired restaurant, the reality is that it's not. ||We had hoped given the price we were paying we would stay in a middle / top range hotel in Val. In fact, this was more basic than most hotels we have stayed in at much cheaper price points when skiing. The main draw is the location and the nice bar. We were really dissapointed and mostly avoided the hotel as much as we could (which isn't the worst thing on a ski holiday, but we had hoped it would be a nice place to relax!). ||I'd reccomend looking elsewhere at either a more expensive hotel or a rented accommodation. Don't be a victim of the middle price point like we were. AVOID!|

Excellent stay. Excellent hotel. Located just a few steps away from the slops in one of worldwide most renown ski station. In house restaurant was good, breakfast was far above expectations. The personnel and the service were excellent. Rooms are really good, fully equipped and beds are comfortable. I strongly recommend this hotel.

Excellent! Hotel Tsanteleina was perfect for our family of 4. We decided to take our young children to their first ski holiday in Val d' isere at the end of the season in April. Luckily, we had just arrived with the best snow of the season (yes, that late in April!)! Skiing in France is now imperative! Suite: Spacious and luxurious! The entire suite was perfect, rooms we spacious, and the seating and work areas were quite comfortable! Pool: Our children enjoyed the pool, a touch cooler for what we expected with a spa like amenity, but they were happy. Hospitality: We were greeted with white glove service! Luggage and ski equipment were taken and we easily enjoyed our stay from the moment we arrived. Location: Excellent locations to restaurants, shopping and skiing! Dining/Bar: Breakfast was delicious, providing a wide variety of food. The bar was well stocked and available for evening gatherings. Thank you, Hotel Tsanteleina!
