Very pretty hotel and well positioned in a neighborhood full of small shops and close to the collectivos that go to the Mirador. It has a lot of colonial charm. One star docked because the continental breakfast is well. A continental breakfast as unimpressive as they most often are, and some things in the hotel could use a little more maintenance (showerheads are a bit rusty and encrusted, showers don't drain very well, among others). A nice pick for a stay in Abancay.

We stayed for one night at Hotel de Turistas, Abancay as part of an organised tour of Peru. Arrived quite late in the evening but they were very happy to cook a nice lomo saltado. It's a very traditional hotel, tired decor but clean and quiet with good service. Wifi was slow. Basic breakfast but quite nice. |

The hotel is very comfortable and luxurious, although the room overlooked the main road which was rather noisy. I asked for a auieter room and was told none was available. The hotel does not take US dollars in payment, which was rather surprising. Otherwise a very pleasant stay.

It was only a one-night stay during the tour but it was really nice one. The hotel is old fashioned - apparently not much changed since the opening in 1946, at least in the part I stayed. But it only gave the place some additional charm. Room and bathroom were spacious and clean, sheets and towels new and clean, too. Shower was good though it did take some time to warm up. WiFi was fast. Breakfast was of limited choice but excellent quality. Probably the best juice and bread selection we had in Peru. The hotel has a pool area which looks somewhat abandoned - did not try the pool, though. There is also a small pleasant garden, nice for a short morning stroll. There was some noise from a street (or hotel area) of some goings-on, but it did not last longer than 11 p.m. so no real bother.

I stayed for a short period but i have to say its the best option in town. Rooms are clean and staff is friendly. It isn't expensive. Most expensive room is 80 Aud approx. the only problem is that internet is quite slow in some of the rooms, but if u use it in the reception is fine. Is very well located and is old but well preserved so it looks nice.

Stayed here one night. Check in was quick, staff lovely. Great steak meal that night. Lots of food etc. Service a bit erratic, had to get my own salt and pepper, oils etc, but that’s fine as they were busy with groups. ||Breakfast is ok. Coffee in a jug gets cold quick. Not amazing choice but adequate. |Biggest issue for me was they gave my passport to someone else. You can imagine the relief when the lady realised. This caused major panic for about 2 hrs and of course they insisted they gave it to me. She looked nothing like me in the photo! |Rooms are ok. Beds comfy, shower hot etc

Great when you book ahead (fluent Spanish), arrive as planned and all is prepared. Except this didn't happen here - so basic but rare in these parts. Even a smile would have helped. After that (and a room change) things improved. All the elements are in place (fine building and garden) - this hotel could so easily be 'very good' or even 'excellent'. As ever, staff training is the key. Very reasonable rates - breakfast seemed a bit improvised but passable. I have tried other hotels in Abancay (nice town) - this is undoubtedly the best option.

The Hotel Turistas provided one of the best rooms we've had so far on our vacation in Peru. ||||We read the review of others, and don't understand what they are complaining about. Our room was extremely spacious and modern, our view of Abancay was impressive, and we didn't hear any traffic described previously. ||||The price was *so* inexpensive (s/90) that we decided to upgrade to the 'matrimonial suite' (s/150) -- which still works out to less than $50 CAD a night. This is a fraction of the price of what we were paying for a room in Cusco.||||The staff was courteous and helpful, despite our mediocre Spanish. It made booking the room somewhat challenging, but their prices were clearly printed at the front desk. They also allowed us to park our rental car in the private gated garage area for added security.||||The entire hotel is probably one of the largest in Abancay, taking up a full city square block with a large stone wall surrounding the complex (this is not unusual for older high-end hotels in Peru)||||There was free wifi in the rooms, a giant flat screen TV with satellite channels, and new super-modern furniture. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. There was also hot water ( after running it for several minutes - also normal in Peru )||||We need to point out that the suite we stayed in was located in the newly constructed tower, built behind the older traditional section of the hotel. This may explain the discrepancy in hotel experiences reported at this location.||||The included breakfast was a standard continental breakfast. For a few Soles more you can upgrade to ham & eggs, crepes, or sandwiches, all with the fantastic super strong Peruvian coffee.
