Hotel Ultramar

My travel agent booked this hotel for me and it is in an ideal location. One can walk almost anywhere in 10/15 minutes. It is up on a hill overlooking the city and serviced by buses. It is old looking from outside but modern when one walks through the door. The staff are excellent, breakfast room is very clean, with amazing views in the morning.This is a very relaxing room in which to slowly wake up. There is an excellent range of food for breakfast too. My own room was plain & simple and I really liked this room which was very quiet. ||||I would definitely stay here again as the staff in particular are superb.

While a bit hard to find, this hotel is a wonderful place. High above the city with panoramic views of the Pacific, it is a jewel worth finding. The staff is lovely and willing to go the extra mile to help. The patio is a superb place to sip a pisco sour after dark and watch the city lights. The tariff is reasonable and the rooms are modern and clean - one of my favorite hotels in all of Chile.

Love the place. A bit old fashion but that is where is all the charm. People are nice and the location is wonderful. Great place.

Off the main touristic district of Valparaiso this nice recently bricks building is quite striking. The reception has been renovated with taste even though we are far from the design expected by a so called boutique hotel. Rooms are definitely not up to standards and comfort expected. Nice terrace with terrific view. Poor breakfast buffet. For those with a car the hotel offers free parking and the mainstream roads are easily accessible. Attentive and friendly staff.

Very nicely located and amazingly decorated but man this is noisy. It is an old building and not had any isolation when reshaping into a hotel so sounds like your neighbors are in your room talking showering walking and trucks pass through your bed... windows don't keep out the traffic or sounds from the street. Curtains don't block the light so sleep is a luxury. People are very nice and it is such a pretty hotel but since I am a light sleeper would not come again.

A clean hotel with decent breakfast, a small bar and a great terras overlooking the bay. Nice sun set view.|As the hotel is in an old building with wooden Floors, yes it carries noises from people walking.|The quitness and very friendly staff compensates for that.||The hotel is located mid of the Hill so one has to walk up each night gaining 125 m or so. Downwards is easy along a lot of murals.|At the nearby overview is a market with fresh fruits and more

The hotel Ultramar are one of the best accommodations possibilieties in Valparaiso! The view on the city (and the sea) is really breathtaking.|Hotel is very modern and very confortable. Maybe small minus is the fact, the hotel has not a lift and you must to use the stairs.|If you have a chance to book biggest rooms (app. 40 m2). This rooms are top! Very large and very comfortable.|Also staff is extremly helpfull. Definitely you must to try Pisco sour from hotel bar. One of the best in the city. And if you drink the Pisco at hotel terasse, this is unforgettable experience.|Me and my wife can strongly reccommended hotel Ultramar!

Friendly staff and nice public areas. Balcony comfortable with cat! A bit far out of town - 20 minute steep walk but only £2 for an Uber. Safe part of town. Bedrooms and bathrooms not brilliant. No air con and could do with a bit of a refurb.

We stayed here for 3 nights In Valparaiso. The best parts were the beautiful view from the deck and from the rooms, and the friendly, helpful staff. Paula helped us set up tours, helped us use the safe, and stored our bags when we checked out but had time to spare before heading to the airport. The room itself was pretty small, with a tiny shower and not much room for our bags. It was clean and comfortable, just a bit small. The location is good. It's very safe and is just uphill from most of the main sites and restaurants. That makes it easy to get to dinner, but hard to walk back at the end of the night when you inevitably are at the bottom of the hill. That said, catching a taxi is cheap and easy at the plaza below.
