I highly recommend this hotel. It is pricey, but worth the money. I suggested a room with a view of the water & Fjords they are spectacular. The breakfast and dinner buffet is worth every penny and very reasonable. You can book it with the room to save money. The heated outside pool has a great view and is very relaxing after a lot of walking.

Don’t trust any negative reviews. This place is a gem in every way. Food, service, view, rooms and amenities are all first class. From the gorgeous lobby to the comfortable rooms you can’t go wrong. The hotel hosts a wonderful spa, hot tub, pool and sauna with a gorgeous view of the fjord. All complaints I’ve read are silly. The windows work just fine providing you know how to use a latch. The place is not dirty. It’s clean and modern with a great history. I would recommend this to anyone at anytime. Lovely, lovely lovely.

Absolutely a fantastic hotel. Stayed for two nights in August and was on the second floor with huge floor to ceiling windows facing the beautiful Geiranger Fjord. Room was really lovely, clean, spacious and so comfortable and light. Views were breathtaking. Had dinner two evenings and breakfast two mornings- a beautiful array of choices with something for everyone. Fresh and delicious. Hotel staff were absolutely lovely and so kind. I absolutely adore this place and found it such a lovely treat to stay here on this beautiful and refined space. Highly recommend! So beautiful!

The Hotel Union Geiranger was a fantastic place to stay. It is a beautiful, historic hotel. We ate both breakfast and dinner buffets and they were terrific. The room was very nice and overlooked the beautiful Geiranger Fjord. The room was comfortable and we were able to open the windows very wide to cool the room since it didn’t have air conditioning. The setting was near a nice stream that was fed by a waterfall. Behind the hotel looked up at a very gorgeous mountain. I would recommend this hotel to everyone.

We are lucky enough to have an amazing view of the fjord and the waterfalls. So gorgeous! The room is large and has extra seating. The bathroom is normal and includes hand soap, shampoo, conditioner, and shower gel. We took advantage of the spa and had a massage. We were disappointed because we were told someone would take us around to see the other amenities that come with the spa, and it didn't happen. We should have been more assertive, but ran out of time. We have half board, so breakfast and lunch are included. Both are served buffet style. Food is good, but not outstanding. The staff at reception and restaurant are great! The location is up above the city, and the walk up and down are somewhat strenuous.

Nice hotel, decent size rooms. The mattresses are on the softer side. It is popular with tour buses - so, you will to time your in-hotel activities, such as check-in a d check-out. Food, too. Could be swarming with elderly.

This hotel manages to find a balance between historical and luxury. It’s a huge hotel and tour groups do come there a lot - one dinner was abandoned after a huge tour group took over the buffet - but aside from that, our stay was incredible. First the rooms are well appointed and the views are incredible. The breakfast is amazing and the dinner buffet was pretty decent. Usually we avoid buffets but it was included in our rate so we went.. and everything is made fresh and the selection is perfect. All the service was received was amazing from the front desk to housekeeping to the wait staff. Everyone spoke perfect English and was quick to help. But the highlight of the hotel is the spa. Definitely get the rate that includes spa access. There’s hot and cold water to explore and relaxation rooms to set you straight. We spent the whole afternoon there once. The pool and outdoor hot water spa are open to any guest, but the spa is extra. You can also get access if you sign up for treatments / the massage is great and the Turkish bath was unique and even better than a massage. One thing to note: the hotel is up the hill from the boats and bus drop off. You’ll either need to use the one taxi the town has or drag your luggage up the hill with cars whizzing by. Without luggage you can take the steps by the waterfalls but there’s a lot of them.

This is a large hotel in a prime location next to the dramatic Geiranger Waterfall Walk, which runs from the hotel all the way to Geiranger centre. ||There's quite a bit of free parking available in the hotel grounds, but if this is filled up you can ask reception for a parking permit to park across the street (which is normally chargeable). ||Like a few hotels in Norway, this one insisted that we checked-in from 3pm onwards even though we arrived just 20mins before the 3pm threshold. As a result, on the stroke of 3pm there was a large queue of people at reception all clambering to get to their rooms! In our opinion, it is an absolutely stupid policy...if a room is ready then they should allow you check-in slightly earlier.||Our room was small and narrow with even a smaller bathroom where they managed to squeeze in a full size bath. There were a few mod-cons in the room, including a Nespresso machine but with only two coffee pods provided. ||The amenities consisted of a good size heated indoor pool and a small outdoor Jacuzzi plunge pool together with lots of seating. Both of these were open long hours (from 6am to 10:30pm). There was also a Spa, gym and sauna available too. ||Breakfast in the spacious dining room consisted of a large buffet spread. Whilst there was nothing overly special about the breakfast, it did have a good range of items on display.
