The Best Hotels in São Paulo, Brazil, to Book Now - AFAR

"This modern, ship-shaped hotel by architect Ruy Ohtake is notable for its hull-like silhouette, porthole windows (which are covered by sliding walls rather than curtains), and a soaring, dramatic lobby. The 84 rooms and 10 suites feature high-tech touches like remote-controlled dividers and inflatable headrests, while the rooftop offers a celebrated pool, restaurant mixing European and Brazilian fare, and the Skye bar with expansive views of Ibirapuera Park and the São Paulo skyline that quickly became a local draw." - Laura Dannen Redman

Hotel Unique, São Paulo, Brazil - Hotel Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"Okay, start us off with the basics. What's the vibe here? São Paulo’s space-age sanctum is super sleek, from the staff to the architecture: a real design pin-up for Brazil with a rooftop bar that’s at the heart of the local scene. You're just pulling up outside the hotel. What are your first impressions? In the darkness of night, the hotel’s black Mercedes swishes past the crumbling mansions of São Paulo’s Jardim Paulista neighborhood. Suddenly the hotel comes into view like an illuminated space station, stark against the night sky. Completed in 2002, the independent Hotel Unique is the most recognizable of Paulistano architect Ruy Ohtake’s 400-odd projects. The landmark building prompts debate (some call it The Watermelon, others say it’s shaped like an ocean liner) and challenges the senses. From the cathedral-like lobby, guests rise in darkness in the lifts to silent, dark corridors—then open the door to any of the 94 bedrooms to find natural light flooding through oversized porthole windows. Do the rooms live up to the futuristic first impression? João Armentano’s contemporary interiors are vaguely Jetsonian, all shiny white-on-white and polished wood, with surround-sound speakers hidden in headboards. You might feel like an astronaut, albeit a junior one (standard rooms are intimate; more fun are those rooms running along the building’s elongated curve), looking out of your space-ship window down Brigadeiro Luis Antonio Avenue – a view you get from the bathtub, too. What are the food and drink options at the in-house restaurant? Seasonal spins on the Caipirinha, Dijon-born Emmanuel Bassoleil’s cooking and jaw-dropping city views are luring both visitors and locals up to the rooftop Skye restaurant. The menu is a mix of traditional Brazilian cooking, modern European and Japanese. The salmon sashimi was excellent. How's the service? Don’t be fooled by the perky young staff led by general manager Melissa Oliveira—they are as efficient as they are good-looking. Who are you likely to see staying here? Talitha Getty is the spirit animal of this tribe in their Havaianas (complimentary in the closet, by the way) and floaty kaftans which look just right beside the ruby-red rooftop pool, where everyone’s reading their iPhones. What is the surrounding area in São Paulo like? São Paulo is like Los Angeles in the sense that nobody walks anywhere, though five minutes’ walk through Jardim Paulista is Ibirapuera Park and Oscar Niemeyer’s Museum of Modern Art. Okay, say we're not quite ready to venture out yet—what's on site for us to do? In the basement, two indoor pools are bathed in rainbow lights and accessed by waterslides—although this is a place for adults to play, not kids (tiny dogs are fine). If you could improve anything, what would it be? The food is good rather than exceptional. Any parting advice for us? Have your driver stop en route at Adriana Bittencourt to pick up a bedazzled kaftan or two, then you’ll have everything you need to never leave this beautifully designed hotel." - Cynthia Rosenfeld

Hotel Unique (Sao Paulo, Brazil) 11 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"We are going to try to resist commenting on Hotel Unique's name, as it should be obvious enough from the photos that it is an appropriate one. The design is inescapable — the structure is by Niemeyer protegé Ruy Ohtake (himself one of Brazil's most famous architects) and takes the form of a half-disc, flat at the top, like a penny perched on its edge, with the top half sawn off. The result is not just a striking silhouette, but an ingenious way to skirt the 85-meter maximum height restriction, while concentrating its guest rooms toward the top for ideal city views — in fact there are only 4 rooms on the narrow second floor, and 30 on the top floor." - Tablet Hotels

This hotel is in the heart of São Paulo, The service was absolutely amazing. Everywhere we turn the service was smooth, professional, elegant. The food was decent, Well presented. My only complaint is that the rooms were exceptionally small for its price. However, they did everything possible to make room if you have multiple luggage for a standard king room. Highly recommend this place- I will definitely return

Whether it was arranging transportation, providing local recommendations, or simply offering a friendly greeting, their professionalism and genuine hospitality were consistently outstanding. Hotel Unique is more than just a place to stay; it's a destination that stimulates the senses and elevates the concept of luxury accommodation. The hotel is spectacular, it is very comfortable, stylish and the service is exceptional. The staff are friendly and always helpful. The service is great! The location is a nice area, but not a location where you wish to explore by walking and look around. You will have to take Uber to see the local attractions etc. But I still recommend to take some time to stay there especially if you are traveling for work, it is a safe area and comfortable hotel.

An Unforgettable Stay at Hotel Unique – Thank You to Samuel & the Incredible Team! My stay at Hotel Unique in São Paulo was nothing short of exceptional! From the moment I arrived, I was greeted with warmth and professionalism by Samuel at the concierge, along with the entire front desk team and valet staff. Their hospitality made me feel truly welcomed and cared for throughout my stay. I apologize for this late thank you—life has been hectic with work and family, but I want you all to know that I haven’t forgotten about you! I deeply appreciate everything you did to make my experience so memorable. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning—the gym is top-tier, the pool is incredible, and the rooftop restaurant is breathtaking. The food was phenomenal, and I have to give a special thank you to the wonderful lady at the restaurant who greeted me every day with a warm smile. She remembered my name, my preferences, and always made sure I had the best window seat. Her kindness and attentiveness, especially in checking on how I was feeling due to my neck issue, meant so much to me. The team even helped me find a physical therapy clinic right across the street, truly going above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible. I spent around 10 to 12 days at Hotel Unique, and I can honestly say it was one of the best hotel experiences I’ve ever had. The level of service, attention to detail, and genuine care from the staff left me speechless. I dream of returning and staying there again, and I highly recommend this hotel to anyone visiting São Paulo. A huge thank you to everyone at Hotel Unique—I appreciate you all more than words can express! Wishing you all the best, and I hope to see you again soon. Muito obrigado!

This Hotel is called the Unique Hotel and the running joke for us was how Unique everything actually is; the architecture, the lighting, the way the windows are shaped, how they open and close and how the lights automatically turn on and off when you need them. Even the towels are kept on a rack that keeps them heated. There are so many more unique twists but I do want to mention that the staff and concierges take their jobs seriously and all of them had a very positive impact on our vacation. Great people with wonderful suggestions and recommendations delivered in a very friendly manner. As amazing as the architecture is it's always the "people" who make the biggest difference!

Staying at Unique in São Paulo is truly an experience of unmatched luxury and attention to detail. From the moment I booked my trip months in advance, the concierge team took incredible care to personalize my visit, going above and beyond with every request. Even arriving early for check-in, I was met with such attentive service that I instantly felt welcomed and relaxed. Everything was flawlessly organized—from spa appointments and museum tickets to car service. Every interaction with the staff reflected an exceptional commitment to detail. Housekeeping and room service were impeccable, and even in the lobby, they never missed an opportunity to make me feel at home, offering water, coffee, or champagne. The hotel itself is a stunning piece of art and architecture, and I can’t imagine finding a comparable level of service anywhere else.

Yelp
Hotel Unique offers a hyper-modern retreat in suburban São Paulo. Its common areas effortlessly embody contemporary style with sleek, futuristic furniture and decor. The attentive staff goes above and beyond, providing top-notch and personalized service. During check-in, a glass of Moët Chandon sets the tone for a luxurious stay, and the dark elevator and hallways create a uniquely cool atmosphere. While the rooms embrace modernity, they lean towards the smaller side. Guests can enjoy either a stunning skyline view of São Paulo or a glimpse of a neighboring building's balcony. Standard amenities are provided, but be aware that there's no iron in the room; however, the front desk promptly fulfills requests, offering a steamer. It's worth noting that some wear and tear, especially on the floors, is evident in the rooms.

Yelp
This is my favorite place to hang out in Sao Paulo! The roof top bar has an breath taking view of the SP skyline. At night it looks much much more dramatic than during the day time. It has tons of very interesting architectural details. From the shape of the building to the ultra tall alcohol wall on the lobby, the water feature that can be seen from the lobby all the way to the restaurant, the gigantic velvet bean bag (see photo)! Just very modern and chic. This is the only restaurant i've been in SP that has L'occitane hand soap, so you know the type of clientele that hangout in this joint! We ordered some traditional dishes but my ultimate favorite was the pamonha and churro desserts! I grew up eating pamonha so it brought back so many fond memories of my childhood. It has the consistency of a tamale but it is made of coconut and corn. For coconut lovers this is a must! This place can get very crowded so plan to arrive early.

Yelp
How gorgeous! Go here for the rooftop bar obviously but also stay and have a drink at the hotel lobby...super interesting space and decor. You will not regret it. Think W to the N'th Degree!!

Yelp
Expensive, yet worth the visit because of the awesome architecture of the hotel and also the good food at the rootop bar/restaurant. Definitely a place to see and be seen, a bit pretentious, but again, worth seeing the building with your own eyes.

Yelp
Incredible view from the top floor that has a bar/restaurant/pool. Worth a night visit!

Yelp
This hotel is beautiful as it is themed like a ship. Rooms are not large but each has a giant round window that is reminiscent of a port hole you would find on the sides of ships. Service is excellent at both the lobby and rooftop bars as is the food at the on site restaurant. The rooftop bar is definitely the main attraction as it has a pool outside that runs a good length of the area and you can see the city of São Paulo from there.

Yelp
Not for a business traveller! The pluses: the rooftop restaurant, ambiance and view. The external architecture of the hotel. Also, a good location. The minuses: printing had be done by the lobby personnel and they were inconsistent. Difficult to find a place for a small work meeting. Rooms were very small and the windows feel strange -- like you are in the bottom part of a boat or the cheap rooms in a cruise. A couple of my things disappeared. There was some construction work or similar outside the lobby -- it appeared as if they were repairing cracks in the external wall. Overall, not a good hotel for a business traveler.
