There have been so many bad reviews posted about this hotel I wanted to share my experience for anyone that’s worried about an upcoming booking! We’ve just come back from a long weekend at the hotel V Fred and had a brilliant time. The staff on arrival greeted us in a friendly manner and offered us a glass of cava before we went up to our room. The room itself (the large double) was ample in size, and had lovely large windows and balcony looking over the street and towards the square. The bed was huge, the bedding fresh and the pillows were super comfy. The only down side was the lighting - they really go for mood lighting in Amsterdam so if you’re a make up wearer I’d advise taking a portable mirror so you can do your makeup near the window! Aside from that, the room was great and the lighting gave the room a romantic vibe. Breakfast was a great continental with two types of egg, a variety of breads, yoghurt with various toppings and super friendly staff serving coffee and fresh juice on request. It’s served in the bar area off the lobby so you can sit people watching in the huge windows - not sure what more you could want! The location was perfect as you can cycle to the crazy tourist areas in under 10 minutes when you want to partake, but you’re in a super chilled area on the edge of De Pijp where there are loads of lovely chilled restaurants and bars and less tourists on a mission to visit every coffee shop within the first hour of their stay. Ps. It was my husband’s birthday which I’d mentioned on booking, and the staff had kindly left a card, some balloons and chocolate (Tony’s of course!) on the bed when we arrived too which was a nice touch, so thank you!

The hotel is in a pretty good location, within walking distance of the city center. My room was super small but very functional; fine for one person, though it would be really tight for a couple. The toilet was surprisingly nice. Breakfast was pretty good too. Overall, a convenient choice for a short stay.

The loft was spacious and comfortable, and we really enjoyed our stay. The bed was great, and the small kitchenette was a lovely bonus. A few areas could be improved: the towels could use an upgrade, and while the bathrooms were well laid out, the air-conditioning in our room wasn’t working, which made it quite warm at night with the windows closed. The room also gathers dust quickly, so a daily sweep along with the towel change would be helpful. On the plus side, the location is excellent just a short walk to great shops and restaurants. The staff were professional and welcoming, and we especially loved Sam, who was wonderfully friendly and helpful. Will be back.

We stayed in one of the lofts which provided a large comfortable space, almost as big as an apartment. The service at the front desk was excellent. They helped us out when one uf us needed ice for an injury. Good bed and a good shower. The location is excellent, on several tram lines, close to the big museums and close to a lot of restaurants. A short ride on the tram from the Central Station. An OK breakfast.

We found the perfect loft for a group of three travelers. With plenty of room for our luggage, the kitchen that was an added plus. The stairs up to the fourth floor were challenging. While we enjoyed the location with many trams close at hand, those come with a bit of noise that might keep you awake late into the night. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

Tiny rooms, no AC, shower floods into main bathroom making floor slippery. My room was quite noisy. Expected more for the money but location is good and desk are helpful and polite. Tourist tax is a joke but not the hotels fault if Holland wants to discourage visitors!

I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel last week. I want to express my gratitude for the wonderful employees. They all treated me with so much kindness. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience in Amsterdam. The staff at the hotel were ever so supportive and empathetic. I especially want to recognize Phillip who was helping out with breakfast. Such a gem of a person!! Sam, who greeted me as I was checking in was also very eager to help! Yama on the evening shift was also very sweet and helpful. The manager of the hotel was yet another kind and friendly young lady. My apologies that her name escapes me. The people that work here made my experience so much better. Thank you!

Stayed at Hotel V for 3 nights but felt the value for money did not match the photos advertised. We were initially put into a room that was a fraction of the size that was pictured in our booking and when we asked to change rooms, we were given a room that looked incredibly tired to the pictures advertised. We even received a bath towel that was shredded along one side.
