I had the pleasure of staying at this hotel last week. I want to express my gratitude for the wonderful employees. They all treated me with so much kindness. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience in Amsterdam. The staff at the hotel were ever so supportive and empathetic. I especially want to recognize Phillip who was helping out with breakfast. Such a gem of a person!! Sam, who greeted me as I was checking in was also very eager to help! Yama on the evening shift was also very sweet and helpful. The manager of the hotel was yet another kind and friendly young lady. My apologies that her name escapes me. The people that work here made my experience so much better. Thank you!

We found the perfect loft for a group of three travelers. With plenty of room for our luggage, the kitchen that was an added plus. The stairs up to the fourth floor were challenging. While we enjoyed the location with many trams close at hand, those come with a bit of noise that might keep you awake late into the night. All in all we enjoyed our stay.

I’ll admit, I was a little hesitant at first after reading some of the online reviews. But with such a great price and a prime location, we decided to give it a try — and I’m so glad we did! Our experience was genuinely fantastic. Check-in was quick and hassle-free, and the front desk staff couldn’t have been friendlier. When we arrived at our loft room, we were greeted with a thoughtful handwritten note wishing us a Happy Anniversary — such a lovely touch! What really stood out was the service. At one point, a staff member knocked to ask if we needed housekeeping. When we politely declined, they followed up with, “Are you sure? Can I at least take out the trash or bring you fresh towels?” They were truly kind and attentive throughout our stay. The room was spacious, the location was ideal, and the service exceeded our expectations. We’d happily return in the future!

All in all a disappointing experience. Though the hotel manager did make things right in the end.|My daughter was unable to travel at the time she booked as her friend was unable to go due to a severe accident. The hotel was totally unaccommodating and unsympathetic and refused to either refund (which was understandable as it was a non refundable reservation) but would not allow her to change the date to another time when she could travel again with her friend under any circumstances. So I took the other place so that the money would not be wasted entirely. We decided we could share a larger room but the hotel would not let us upgrade the room.| On arrival, both rooms were not in the main hotel but in a separate building and were in the basement. We knew that these were basement rooms, but from the photos looked much larger.|The stairs were very steep (not advisable for people with unsteady footing). And the rooms incredibly small. The room I was in had a pipe under the floor which was heated so my room was very hot as was the bathroom. When I asked the reservation clerk if I could change the room he said all the rooms were booked and nothing he could do (not at all helpful!) There was a fan in the room but it was broken, and no air conditioning. The bed felt like a sofa bed and not comfortable and the room smelt badly as the drains were not working! In the hallway there were cleaning materials and a plastic bag that remained there all night and the next day.|Bathrooms were tiny and all very dark, with black painted walls throughout.|The following day, we managed to speak to the Manager who was on duty and she kindly arranged an upgrade for us in the main hotel, a larger room with large windows and much better. However, the rooms are lacking - clean with nice bedding in the main hotel room, but a tiny bathroom - and all the mirrors are very high, so you need to be at least 5'6 or taller to be able to use them. Hotel reception and lobby is a nice area.|Breakfast was not included, but due to the stress incurred, the manager gave us breakfast, and these two small changes made the difference to our stay, so our remaining night was ok.|Advise not to book the basement rooms, at an extortionate £150 per night per room with no breakfast, (in what is really an unusable room) is not acceptable.|Would not recommend unless you ask to stay in the main hotel.|End result: Had a larger room to share in hotel room, but despite the hotel now having two rooms they could rent out, with one that was unacceptable to stay in, they still refused to re-imburse one of the rooms....

Hotel was clean and tidy. Breakfast was poor, we went out to local cafés after the first day. We booked a standard room which turned out to be in the annexe of the hotel. No lift available in the annexe, be warned very steep steps! Our room was extremely small. Hanging space for clothes wasn't great. Had to crawl into bed as no room either side of bed. 1 small chair in the room, so one of us had to use bed as seating. The bathroom was very small but clean and the shower was very good. Tea/ coffee making in the room, no fridge for milk though.

Misleading and Unacceptable The photos posted online are blatantly deceptive and bear no resemblance to the grim reality. Instead of the bright, clean space shown in the pictures, I was given a cramped ground-floor room that felt more like a neglected storage unit than a hotel room. The room had three windows directly on the street, and to make matters worse, one of the curtains was broken, leaving the interior exposed to passersby. The walls were paper-thin — I could hear sound from outside of course but worse from the neighboring rooms, including people using the toilet. This cannot compare to my colleague who was given what can only be described as an underground box. The room had no windows, the bed took up also nearly the entire space, and the smell was absolutely foul. It felt unhygienic, claustrophobic and unsafe. If it hadn’t been the middle of the night, we would have walked out immediately with strong feeling to call health and safety authorities. I don’t write reviews lightly; it is not acceptable and disgraceful to be allowed to advertise with such photos and headline “A modern three-star stay with a laid-back atmosphere. Hotel V Frederiksplein offers stylish rooms”. OMG! Avoid!!! The marketing is misleading and the cost is aligned to the photos but not to the reality! PS: Bed felt itchy all night…A business trip with no sleep therefore for so many reasons !

Be aware some of the rooms are very small and this can be an issue with storing your luggage. The lift was also not working when we checked out. Meaning we had to carry our large luggage down multiple flights of tight stairs. Less than ideal. It is clean and in a good location. But wouldn’t be my first choice if returning.

I will briefly describe my experience at this hotel. The positives are that public transportation is nearby, and it's located in a quiet and beautiful neighborhood. Now, onto the negatives. I paid €1000 for three nights only to be placed in a standard room located in the basement of the hotel. I was waking up every day at 6:30 AM because the breakfast area was right above my room, and I could constantly hear chairs scraping and other noise — the soundproofing is very poor. There was constant stomping, and doors were slamming left and right. Additionally, the lobby restrooms were located directly across from my room. The room had a small window and was poorly ventilated, resulting in an unpleasant smell. I don’t know what the rooms on the upper floors are like, but if you’re placed in a basement room, you’ll suffer. And let me repeat… I paid €1000 for 3 nights!!! I do not recommend this hotel to anyone looking for peace and quiet.
