Good value very close to the Abbey Library and only a 8-10 minute walk to the train station. Handy luggage storage for early arrival or people leaving town after check out. Reception was friendly. Room was fine, bathroom was renovated and had a good amount of space, storage, and place to put your things. Hallways were a bit long and odd. No iron or refrigerator which is a bit annoying. I considered deducting a star as the air conditioning was not on before our arrival and the room was at 28.5° C/83° F which was quite uncomfortable, it took hours to get down to even 24° C/75° F and then also shut off in the middle of the night due to a timer we had not set. I get trying to be cost and environmentally friendly but if you have high occupancy I bet keeping the air conditioning on is more efficient than every guest having to turn it on full power and wait hours.

Fantastic location in the old town. Walk everywhere and immerse yourself in the atmosphere of this charming medieval town. Rooms are on the smaller side but clean and well appointed. Staff is friendly and the nearby parking is convenient. Highly recommended.

Delightful/romantic location in the old city section right next to the Abbey church and library. Beautiful, spacious rooms, well equipped and very comfortable. Excellent reception staff. Lockers available for luggage storage, although a few more would be ideal (and you need 2 CHF coins to operate).

This entire hotel was incredibly clean. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast room is lovely and breakfast was filling. The staff were friendly and helpful. Check-in was very quick. Hotel Vadian Garni is very close to the Abbey Library. It is only a few steps away. And the price was very reasonable. I highly recommend this hotel.

We stayed in the dependency around the corner. Super quiet, very large room for the 3 of us. Beautiful views, and loved the church bells! Barbara is a lovely person and an amazing resource for all things St. Gallen! She helped me research my ancestry, and found out where my grandparents were married and lived. She speaks fluent English. Breakfast was fantastic as well - LOVE the Swiss homemade fruit muesli. Excellent location of the hotel - right in the center of the old town across the street from the most beautiful cathedral in the world! Lots of restaurants and shops nearby. I can't recommend this hotel more. Our bathroom was HUGE - with a magnifying makeup mirror!

We stayed in one of the apartments, not the hotel proper. There was plenty of space for us to stretch out in the evenings, and the kitchen and bath were both enough for us. Nothing fancy, but certainly comfortable. The elevator is delightfully old school (no spoilers). Breakfast was back at the hotel, about a block away. Good coffee and plenty of variety in fruit, cheese, and meats. No complaints really!

I had the studio apartment which is only a few min walk from the hotel where the breakfast is served. ||||Apartment is clean and adequate. Kitchen utensils are adequate but would be nice if they can provide kitchen paper and some condiments if you do need to cook. I believe there is daily housekeeping as the bathroom mat did get changed daily but the kitchen bin wasn't emptied daily but it was fine.||||During summer when you need to open the windows at night, it could be noisy as you are on the street with cars passing by and people chatting downstairs can echo easily.||||Location wise, it is very near to the Abbey and not so bothered with the church bells compared to other cities i have stayed. It is an easy walk between train station, supermarket, Abbey and the old town which was nice.||||Daily breakfast- although small but very good range.||||Reception staff- very helpful in advising the St Gallen card provided can be used on the cable car.||||it would be very nice if there is a washing machine in the apartment.

The staff is warm, cheery and very helpful. The room in the main building was designed in a modern feel. Clean lines and stark white. Our second room was described as right across the street but that is a stretch, it is a walk away so if you are splitting up your family, keep this in mind. The "annex" has a much more traditional feel. Dark and rich wood accents, an electric kettle was provided with tea bags and cappuccino packets along with china cups and saucers for this warm and comforting treat. Our annex room seemed to have a Jacuzzi but after filling it with water we discovered the Jacuzzi part was not connected. so in actuality it is a very deep mauve tub. The main room was a bit tight in space, particularly the bathroom. The annex room spacious and the bathroom was very large with plenty of shelves and counter for an extended stays' necessities. The rooms do not have air conditioning so the windows needed to be open for comfort. The main room's windows opened to a garden area and was serene. The annex room windows opened over a small alley but during the nights, beginning about 1:30 a.m. local time, street cleaners, deliveries and litter pickup began which disrupted sleep on each night. Ear plugs would be highly recommended if you are disturbed by sounds while sleeping. Both locations are centrally located to many of the sights within St. Gallen. All in all I would not hesitate to repeat a stay at Hotel Vadian.
