Oldfashioned hotel at a unique location: just beyond the noise and hassle of the city, across the river, on the way to Swyambhunat. Beautiful architecture with traditional Newari woodwork, splendid garden with much green and space to sit quietly and ample parking space. This is a real attraction in a city which has so little green and peace!
Rooms are rather basic; even the 'deluxe rooms" have no TV, no safe, no AC, no refrigerator, basic lighting. Cleaning is done well (except on saturday).
The restaurant is basic as well: breakfast buffet is all right, menu otherwise very limited, certainly compared with the range available in many other restaurants.
Staff are very relaxed though pleasant, but have limited knowledge e.g. on taxi rates, destinations, shops, flights - and little desire to expand their knowledge or services.
In all: an excellent place in terms of atmosphere, peace and greenery but at relatively high prices and modest services.
