A charming family-run hotel with real character and heart||We spent one night at Hotel van Walsum and were truly impressed by the warmth and atmosphere of this historic family hotel. Set in three beautiful 19th-century townhouses on the elegant Mathenesserlaan, it immediately feels special – high ceilings with ornate details, stylish decor, and even a small balcony to enjoy the city from above.||What made our stay extra memorable were the two brothers, Anton and Jos van Dam, who run the hotel with genuine passion and hospitality. Their personal touch, knowledge of Rotterdam, and care for every guest make you feel completely at home. You can tell this hotel has been in the family for generations – it’s full of soul, history, and attention to detail.||The breakfast was excellent, the location quiet yet close to the city centre, and the whole place has a welcoming, relaxed vibe.||In short: a unique hotel with character, comfort, and two wonderful hosts. We’ll definitely be back!

Excellent stay at Hotel Van Walsum! I traveled alone and had a room with a double bed, spacious and comfortable, with a lovely view. The hotel is at a convenient distance from the city center, allowing you to enjoy Rotterdam while staying in a calm and quiet area. The staff are extremely kind, always attentive and offering great advice. A place I highly recommend!

A good, clean hotel in a great location with friendly and nice staff, especially the Romanian girl! I didn’t eat there, so I can’t comment on that, but overall, it was a good experience. The location was perfect, with a smallish, cozy room and a nice balcony facing a beautiful garden. There are some restaurants and supermarkets nearby.

The reception staff are very friendly, and the hotel has just been renovated — the environment is decent. However, if you’re driving an SUV or a large vehicle, the hotel’s parking lot might not be accessible.

This hotel is conveniently located in the city center. The hotel is housed in an Art Nouveau building, which is something to consider. The staff was very accommodating and very friendly. The breakfast buffet was adequate, with almost everything you need. I would have preferred larger rolls and something vegan for breakfast. My small double room was sufficient for me as a solo traveler. The bed was very comfortable; I slept better in it than at home. One drawback is the thin walls. On the first evening, I heard the TV program from the room next door. But that's normal in an old building, and I'm happy to accept it given the location and the bed. I'd be happy to return sometime.😊👏🏻 Note: The hotel has an elevator, you don't have to take the steep stairs if you don't want to🤭

Lovely hotel, the staff were really pleasant and very helpful. The room was really big and well presented a good selection of amenities in the room. breakfast was excellent with a good variety of hot and cold food..the terrace is nice to sit and chill after a busy day.. thankfully there is a lift |Thanks for a lovely stay...

Service was great but the rooms are very dated. No AC was made for a hot night in June. It was nicely located and staff was great. Parking was tight but at least they had some.

Perfect location. Walkable from both the central station and all main restaurants and bars. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Room was lovely with everything I needed plus nice extras, such as coffee, safe, city guide, iron, shoe shine. Would definitely recommend and stay again. Nothing I didn't like at all. Price is very good too! Thanks for a great stay.
