We booked this hotel through a third party for our family of four, with two children, and reserved two rooms. Upon arrival, we were surprised to find that our rooms were in different buildings, which was incredibly inconvenient for a family. When we inquired about being placed together, the staff informed us they hadn't received that request from the third-party booking service. However, it seems odd that the hotel wouldn’t have a system in place to flag family bookings like ours – surely it would be common sense to keep families together.||Both buildings had a very strong and unpleasant odor, which seemed to come from the requirement for guests to remove their shoes and store them in the entry. Additionally, the shared bathroom situation was awkward, as there was no way to tell if the bathroom was occupied, and there was no hamper or designated place for guests to leave their wet, dirty towels – which ended up scattered on the floor. There was no ventilation in the bathroom, and a note asked guests to leave the window open. Unfortunately, this window had no curtain, so there was no privacy. To top it off, I wasn't ever able to get a hot shower. Whether this was because the water heater wasn't hot or wasn't large enough to accommodate the guests I don't know.||Our rooms were disappointing. They were extremely small, with barely enough space to open a carry-on suitcase on the floor (there was no other space for it). We couldn't open our window either, as it was right next to the outdoor smoking area, and the smell of smoke from other guests made the air unpleasant.||Sleeping was also difficult. You could hear everything happening throughout the building – from guests moving around to loud conversations in other rooms, even throughout the night. The doors slammed very loudly as well, which was no fun when guests left early in the morning and woke everyone up.||Breakfast was the worst we encountered during our trip to Iceland. Not only was the quality very poor, but we were also surprised to find that breakfast wasn't included in the price of the stay (our fault for missing that in the fine print - this was the only stay that didn't include breakfast). We were told the cost for two breakfasts for four people over two days would be 10,000 ISK. However, after returning home, we discovered we had been charged 20,000 ISK, which was outrageous for what we received.||Overall, this was the only accommodation in Iceland we didn’t enjoy. Given the various issues – from the odor, lack of privacy, noise, lukewarm water, and misleading breakfast charges – we would not recommend staying here. We regret our decision and suggest looking elsewhere for a more comfortable and restful experience.
