As a frequent traveler to Stavanger I have tried Hotel Victoria a couple of times. While it is a nice looking hotel, perhaps a bit similar to Londons The Stafford, the experience I have had during my stays here is very far from what you would expect from a hotel like this.
In winter time the rooms are generally very cold, and the hotel is very noisy.
For my last stay I booked a deluxe room, which had a desk, something that is convenient for a business traveler like me. The room, 414, was located right next to the stairs and elevator, and was right next to a part of the hotel being renovated. I was planning to work, but that was made impossible by the sound of the construction workers and the music they were playing. When they finally left, a group of drunk hotel guests decided to have a party in the hall, something which continued throughout the evening. The hotel did not offer solutions to either problem.
In sum, this is not a good option for business travelers, families, or anyone who wants a quiet and relaxed stay at a hotel.
If you do decide to stay here, I suggest you try to avoid the rooms ending on nr 14 as they are the most exposed to noise.
