The Hotel Victoria is very comfortable, cozy, and conveniently located two blocks from the train station. It's not just a place to stay -- it is a welcoming, relaxing, temporary home away from home. We stayed three nights and found this place thoroughly charming. Our bedroom was small, well furnished, nicely decorated, and very clean. The queen bed was quite comfortable. We noticed especially how all the little details were done right, as is often not the case in chain hotels. For example, the wallpaper met perfectly in the corners and along the seams; there were no stray paint dabs along any edges, the moldings and tiles all fit perfectly. These details may seem trivial, but they illustrate the level of care taken with every detail in this hotel. The fully equipped bathroom was adequately spacious, beautifully finished in white tile, and with a frosted window for natural light. As noted, the bedroom was small and had no sitting area, but that was just as well. Instead of hanging out in our room, we sat in one of the three charming and eclectically furnished little living room spaces in the lobby. Here we played cards and sipped our drinks, watched people pass on the sidewalk, or chatted with other guests coming and going through the lobby. The house restaurant is comfortable and intimate, with a small but delightfully varied menu and excellent service. We enjoyed everything we tried both for breakfast and for dinner. And don't miss seeing the rotating exhibit by local artists in the adjacent Mosaic Room. Perhaps the very best part of our stay at the Hotel Victoria was the staff. Absolutely everyone we encountered was friendly and professional, energetically helpful, and eager to ensure that we should enjoy our experience at their hotel. This feeling applied whether at the desk, in the restaurant, or on the guest floors with the maids. When our travels take us again to Toronto, we will stay at the Hotel Victoria.
