This is an excellent place for adults to stay when visiting Toronto; it's definitely the place we will stay on our next trip. Spouse and I stayed three nights on our recent visit. Hotel Victoria is a unique place: small, intimate, and feeling very much like a home away from home; not like one of those huge, sterile, homogenized chain hotels. The guest room we had was small (but not oppressively so) and well furnished with a very comfortable queen bed, a desk, closet, and a tiled bathroom. The bathroom even featured a large, frosted window for natural light. Every bit of our room was very clean, right down to the corners and baseboards. There was no seating in our room, but that wasn't necessary. Instead of hanging about the room, we sat in the one of the lovely living room areas in the beautifully decorated lobby to play cards, sip our drinks, watch people pass by on the sidewalk, and chat with other guests coming or going through the lobby. The house restaurant is excellent and really worth a try for either breakfast or dinner. The menu is small but with a surprising breadth of options and the service was absolutely first rate. But I saved the best for last: the young staff at Hotel Victoria are fabulous. Everyone we encountered was both friendly and professional, eager to help, and truly dedicated to ensuring that we enjoyed our stay. It was all such a delightful experience - far beyond the mere provision of a place to sleep.

Super hotel steeped in history & still looking great on the outside & inside as well. Staff was most excellent in helping us with every question we had. Ratnesh was excellent , friendly & attentive every time he saw us. Great personal touch calling us a private car operated by friend to keep us out of the rain Sunday when we departed for home. (sure made us feel special in that fancy car, your friend very nice man also) Room was great had everything we needed. Clean & neat also very quiet. Close to everything downtown & we pretty much walked everywhere we needed to go on the weekend till the weather turned on us. I'd recommend staying here on any visit to Toronto the price is very reasonable. Will be back here again soon as we have more events planned for Toronto & we really enjoyed our stay here

Exceptional Service at the Front Desk! I must highlight the excellent service provided by Mr Ratnesh from the moment we arrived, he was warm, professional, and incredibly helpful. He made check-in smooth and gave us great tips about the local area. His welcoming attitude really made us feel at home after a long journey.

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ My overall experience at Hotel Victoria was very good. The room service was prompt and attentive, making my stay comfortable and convenient. I felt safe throughout my visit thanks to the hotel’s strong security measures and friendly staff. The food and drinks were delicious, with a nice variety to choose from. The staff were polite and helpful in every way. I highly recommend Hotel Victoria for anyone looking for a safe, comfortable stay with great service and tasty meals.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel in Toronto! From the moment I arrived, the receptionists, Ali and Aishat, made me feel incredibly welcome. They were warm, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure I had everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Their hospitality truly stood out and made the whole experience even more enjoyable. The hotel itself was clean, well-located, and had all the amenities I needed, but it was the exceptional service from the front desk that really made it special. Thank you, Ali and Aishat – you’re both amazing!

I had a great stay in Toronto. The hotel is well located, with easy access to many places around the city — which made getting around much easier. The room was clean and just right for what I needed, considering the hotel’s category. But what really stood out was the service — especially at the front desk. Ratnesh was outstanding: kind, helpful, and full of great tips for things to do around the city. His attention made my stay even more enjoyable and cheerful.. Thank you!

Lovely hotel, lovely service and staff. Especially (but not exclusively) Riya. Rooms roomy. Could have done with one more elevator but happy to stay again. Beds very comfortable

The Hotel Victoria is very comfortable, cozy, and conveniently located two blocks from the train station. It's not just a place to stay -- it is a welcoming, relaxing, temporary home away from home. We stayed three nights and found this place thoroughly charming. Our bedroom was small, well furnished, nicely decorated, and very clean. The queen bed was quite comfortable. We noticed especially how all the little details were done right, as is often not the case in chain hotels. For example, the wallpaper met perfectly in the corners and along the seams; there were no stray paint dabs along any edges, the moldings and tiles all fit perfectly. These details may seem trivial, but they illustrate the level of care taken with every detail in this hotel. The fully equipped bathroom was adequately spacious, beautifully finished in white tile, and with a frosted window for natural light. As noted, the bedroom was small and had no sitting area, but that was just as well. Instead of hanging out in our room, we sat in one of the three charming and eclectically furnished little living room spaces in the lobby. Here we played cards and sipped our drinks, watched people pass on the sidewalk, or chatted with other guests coming and going through the lobby. The house restaurant is comfortable and intimate, with a small but delightfully varied menu and excellent service. We enjoyed everything we tried both for breakfast and for dinner. And don't miss seeing the rotating exhibit by local artists in the adjacent Mosaic Room. Perhaps the very best part of our stay at the Hotel Victoria was the staff. Absolutely everyone we encountered was friendly and professional, energetically helpful, and eager to ensure that we should enjoy our experience at their hotel. This feeling applied whether at the desk, in the restaurant, or on the guest floors with the maids. When our travels take us again to Toronto, we will stay at the Hotel Victoria.

Yelp
What a cute boutique hotel in the heart of Toronto. I was in town for work and stayed for three nights. It's a little difficult to find when arriving for the first time, but after being there once, you'll have no trouble. The first thing you'll notice is the cute seating areas that are rather stylish. One night there was even live music. The check-in counter is at the bar of the attached restaurant and the staff was incredibly friendly during my stay. I wasn't in my room much, but while I was there it was small, yet cozy. They had all the amenities that I needed. There wasn't any outside noise that impacted my sleep and the bed was comfy. I did have to adjust the thermostat a few times as it got rather chilly and the table, chair, and TV area was a little janky. I'm not sure I would stay here again as I prefer a more spacious room, but if you're into small spaces and a more unique stay, this would definitely fit the bill.

Yelp
Excellent location in the old town. Convenient to Union Station and public transportation. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. The room was small but extremely comfortable for two people. I would return to Hotel Victoria.

Yelp
November 2024. Our room was infested with bed bugs! After we checked out we called the hotel and informed them and they told us they "couldn't check the room because another party had already checked into our room." They let another party stay in the room that was infested with bed bugs! They also refused to refund us. I even have a doctor's note confirming I am covered in bed bugs. Stay far, far away from this dumpster fire!

Yelp
This hotel is nice enough for what it is - a mid-range boutique hotel. Upsides are its downtown location, which is convenient to pharmacies, restaurants, and stores. It's also a 10 minute taxi or Lyft ride from the Billy Bishop airport. Customer service was great - I was allowed to check in early, and because I booked through Expedia (which I use often), I was upgraded to a Business room that included a robe and Apple TV/ Netflix. Reception staff also used Google to look up information on the Toronto Black Film Festival, etc. My room was on the small side, which is okay. Like others have written, there was no view, which is also fine. My only complaint was that the forced air heat was SO dry that I had to sleep with a wet washcloth over my face because I was so uncomfortable and my nose got congested. I'm unsure what they can do about this, since it's an older structure, but that is the one deterrent from me staying here again. For my part, I'll start traveling with a humidifier. There's also a restaurant onsite with reasonable prices, and a decent selection of Canadian and American food. I ordered breakfast. Service was quick and efficient enough. The coffee was watery and weak, but I found the same at other establishments in Toronto.

Yelp
If going to Toronto again, I can see myself returning Hotel Victoria. Built in the wake of the Great Fire of 1904 (and was built as "fireproof"), the hotel is a whopping 110 years old and has been designated a Heritage Building by the City. But importantly ... is it worth the stay? CONVENIENCE: It's perfectly located. Winter Garden Theatre, The Hockey Hall of Fame, Union Station, CN Tower, St. Lawrence Market, Niagara Falls Tour Pick-Up ... all of these we walked to from the Victoria Hotel. Nary a subway, taxi, nor Uber was needed during our 5 days in town. A STAFF: Helpful, friendly, and quick to clean the room ... they even stored our bags after checkout. A AMENITIES: Enough outlets for the tech junkie. TV with AppleTV ... we did however have a glitchy TV we needed staff intervention on. B- ROOM Comfortable bed, plenty of pillows. Plenty of drawers. The lounge chair is only good for the short and light. The shower head is okay, but nothing to write home about. There may be great views, but ours was a dark area charitably described as a courtyard. B In the end, we enjoyed our stay. Excellent, considering what we paid ($230 a night for 3 people). You could say it was a victorious stay at the Hotel Victoria!

Yelp
While the room is small, it has everything we needed for a lovely weekend. The hotel is conveniently located near Union Station and the Scotiabank Arena. But what really makes this hotel special is the exceptionally friendly and efficient staff. We would happily stay here again.

Yelp
I had an incredible stay here at Hotel Victoria, it's now become my go-to place to be when I visit Toronto, and I have nothing but good things to say about it. The staff was incredibly helpful, personable, and engaging. Truly friendly people who are looking to help you out during your stay in Canada, that was great to see. The room also was clean, cool, and the beds were super soft. Both my traveling companion and I slept like champions, and felt rested in the morning when we got up. Also, even if it is in the middle of the city, it's very quiet in the room. Someone on the page commented on the WIFI, but to be honest, it was THE FASTEST WiFi I have ever seen. My files I filmed at the film festival uploaded in a SNAP to my Dropbox, and those are big files. So the WIFI is actually very impressive. The bathroom is tiny, pretty tight spaces, but it didn't bother us much. The one thing they could do a bit better would be the water pressure, but the building is 110 years old, so we'll give it a pass . It's centrally located for everything I needed to do for TIFF, and also had a restaurant downstairs attached to the building which had delicious food, and kind servers. Hotel Victoria is the spot to be if you are looking for something simple, clean, friendly, slightly upscale and convenient. Will absolutely stay again next time I'm in Toronto!

Yelp
Crappy room. Missing shampoo and soaps. Cold water after running for 5 minutes. Cable had few options. Parking is off site for $60 overnight. No restaurant or bar on site. My corner room had a view of 2 close brick walls. Dim lighting. Unable to contact the front desk by any means. $150 security deposit. Tiny and not updated rooms. Pictures on the website are totally misleading. I would have liked to stay wherever those pictures were taken.

Yelp
Ok, yes, this is a quaint little boutique hotel in the middle of DT Toronto and it's pretty close to everything. Yes, in comparison to nearby hotels it's pretty reasonably priced. But, let me tell you if you're accustomed to staying in major hotel brands you might be a bit put off by this place. So, I love staying in boutique hotels. The upside is that the staff is usually more chill and the hotels are usually (for the most part) pretty cool. Like, the fact that it's not the same Marriott or Hilton means they can add some local charm to it. The downside is that sometimes, it's a crapshoot because you don't have the consistency and "corporateness" of major hotel brands. I say that because I didn't experience any of the cool things about staying at a boutique hotel at Hotel Victoria. This basically felt like a place to make pitstops, bathe, and sleep in between being out and about. Now, I know when you're on vacation most people will say, "Yes, but shouldn't you be out and about instead of in the hotel room all day?" YES! I'm one of those people that will say that. But, there was something about this place where I couldn't relax when I was in the room. The bed was squeaky so every time one of us turned the other could hear and feel it. The bed was advertised as a Standard Queen but it for sure was a Full so we were pretty much on top of each other. Our view was a brick wall that seemed like it never ended so we never had a concept of the outside weather. There's just one elevator so, there's that. And, our room was incredibly small. I felt like we were working at a restaurant because we kept having to yell, "BEHIND!" just to maneuver around to get dressed. Oh, and the staff was ok. The girl that helped us check out was pretty friendly. There were a couple of guys there that seemed like they haaaaated working there. There's no restaurant in the hotel, so no room service, but you're in DT TO so you shouldn't have a problem finding food. But, they had a newly renovated lobby. Which, I'll never understand why hotels advertise that as a selling point. Can I set up in the lobby? No? Ok, then why tell me the area of the hotel that I'll spend a total of 30 minutes for my entire trip is newly renovated? I wouldn't call it a dump, but, I'll definitely budget more and stay somewhere else next time.

Yelp
I stayed at this hotel a weekend before Christmas. A small boutique hotel in the middle of the financial district. They have a small nondescript restaurant which they should advertise better. They have either queen or king size beds. We chose the queen room which was a decent size. Overall the room is a little small but clean and tidy. Hardwood throughout which is very rare in a hotel and gives some elegance. The bathroom is also clean which is a good sign of hygiene.

Yelp
Jennifer is welcoming and cheerful. Gregory responded promptly to my emails about directions from train station. The hotel is smoke-free! Room 702 is a good size for 2 queen beds. Wifi is fast. 2 water bottles and complete amenities from hairdryer to iron board is a nice touch. Bed is perfect for me (not too firm). Tim Hortons and Starbucks are 2 min walk away. Subway restaurant is next door. Yonge and Dundas which is the downtown hub is 10 mins walk. Restaurant and bars all around; St Lawrence Market is also walking distance . Union Station (train from airport) is 10 mins walk too. Easy to find and we felt safe day and night in the area. Entry to the Path: underground shops and restaurants is 2 mins walk. No gym, no pool but served our purpose for a nice weekend in the city. Thank you Gregory, Jennifer, Jasmin and Cheryl for your friendly service. Check in and out was fast and efficient. We highly recommend as base in Toronto. Our only complaint is the SLOWWW elevator.

Yelp
I wanted to give this hotel a higher rating I really did but there were a couple of really big downsides for me that hurt it. First the positives.... Location : If you're in Downtown Toronto and visiting the Air Canada Centre, Rogers Centre, Hockey Hall of Fame etc you can't beat this location, we walked to Air Canada in less than 8 minutes and there are lots of things to do around this area. Cost : Our room ( Twin room ) cost about $190CAD for one night which I would consider in Toronto which is one of the worlds major cities in a convenient area to be good value. Wi-Fi: Nowadays ( especially if you have a US phone and don't want to get killed in data roaming charges ) I would consider any hotel that doesn't offer free Wi-Fi to be a failure and doing their guest a disservice, I don't care if you build it into the price of the room but I don't want to get nickel and dimed with extras like Internet, the connection at Hotel Victoria was very good and all we needed was our login and it didn't cost any extra. Now the negatives... Parking : Nothing on-site, but really for this area I noticed thats most hotels, we found a parking garage literally around the corner where parked for a day and a half for about $30CAD, so factor that into your cost. Room Size : This is a small, old school boutique hotel and as such the rooms are REALLY small, we had two Twin Beds which I think is the first time i've seen that in a hotel in quite some time, also the bathroom is quite small and when you turn on the light the shadow of the person in the bathroom is clear to see through the glass in the door for anyone else in the room, great if you're a couple, not so great if you're staying with a buddy if you know what I mean. Also we got into our room and our TV wasn't working, if i wasn't technically proficient and figured out how to get the signal from the cable box to the TV then I wouldn't have been able to watch TV in the room, as when I turned it on all I had was static, something that the person prepping the room should have checked. Inexcusable lack of detail. Elevator : There is only one elevator in the building, so if its busy and you have alot of people staying then you could be waiting quite some time to get back to your floor unless you want to take the stairs. So there you go, weigh up the pros and cons for your visit, if it were me I may look into one of the other options in the area, but if you're not sharing a room with your hairy buddy then maybe it might be a good option.
google avatar

David C.

Yelp
Good price, but you definitely get what you pay for. There was virtually no natural light in my room. There were 2 windows but both of them faced the walls of the building next door. The shower was TINY and the way it was designed meant it always leaked on the floor. The WiFi was also impossible to connect to and intermittent. I probably wouldn't stay here again.

Yelp
Considering the price and location, Hotel Victoria deserves a solid 4-stars. Very affordable option in the Downtown Core, close to shopping, sports and touristy attractions. Great for Toronto newbies. I love old, historic buildings and Hotel Victoria fits the bill. Though it's mostly updated (minus the slow elevator), it still retains the charm of of centuries ago. Guest rooms are on the small side, but who needs a luxury suite when you're in such a great city? Big, comfy bed with clean sheets, hardwood floors, TV with cable and Canadian Neflix and complimentary bottled water made this girl very happy for 3 nights. Took pictures of my room, which could use a little TLC like an extra coat of paint and some cleaning around the baseboards. But people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones - my apartment is much dirtier and I seem to be OK with it on a regular basis. There is a restaurant next door, Over Easy, but I wouldn't recommend eating there unless you're desperate for breakfast. That's another story, just throwing this tidbit in for extra flavor. Concierge is off-duty from 11:30 pm until sometime in the morning. Guests can access the building by using their room key in a special machine near the front entrance. This gave me slight anxiety since I tend to lose room keys in my wallet or purse, was afraid I'd be sleeping out front after a few too many cocktails. Luckily that didn't happen. A nice long weekend in Toronto, thanks Hotel Victoria!

Yelp
Not to bad a place but nothing outstanding and a few issues. The room is smaller then other hotels I have stayed at in the area, essentially a king bed, 1 chair and an auto man. Came in and sat on it and it promptly fell over. Does not support the weight or a person or a suitcase, can't believe I am the first this happened too. The wifi is really bad, and this was important to me, traveling from the states and not having a big international data plan. Gave up being online many times. Our heater/ac did not work. The front desk came up and took the plug out which could not rest. He offered me, and delivered a heater which was nice but one of those round reflective electric ones that lit up the entire room, so I said no thank you. In truth I was just looking to circulate some air and have a fan running to drown out the city. The sink continued to clog up, not running the water, just brushing our teeth and such. Overall I would say a disappointing experience. Photo shows the WiFi speed. I ran it at midnight and also ran a Fing test which indicated 1014 devices were online?

Yelp
The search criteria that found me Hotel Victoria was location, price, and ability to accommodate a third person within the same room. It felt a little ludicrous at the time that the third criteria caused us to have to discard so many other hotels, but now I am glad it did because we wouldn't have found Hotel Victoria otherwise. A boutique hotel located in downtown Toronto, Hotel Victoria carries an air of casual elegance from its lobby all the way to its room. It is conveniently close to so many things: Sony Centre, shopping districts, business centres, various eateries, so many parking decks... Yet the street it is on is nicely quiet, so that guests are not hindered from their nightly rest. The room we were placed in was very comfortable, with more than enough space for three without feeling crowded, and it is very clean. The beds were very comfortable, like the beds at home; none of us usually sleep well on a strange bed on a first night, but all three of us slept very very well on these beds, so much so that we kind of overslept a little. The bathroom felt a bit on the small side with next to no counter space, but it was still manageable, and it was again very clean with everything in working order. The hotel conveniently has a restaurant managed by a partner attached to it, with the restaurant serving breakfast and lunch (no dinner, alas). We didn't get to eat there, but the smells coming out of the restaurant while we were checking in were wonderful. While Hotel Victoria doesn't usually offer check in prior to 3PM, and check out is usually at 11AM, they do offer locker service for guests who would like to drop off their luggage and wander around the area for a while. They also do not appear to offer private parking area, but as mentioned above, there are plenty of secure parking garages in the area (not to mention access to public transport). Overall, we were very pleased with our stay. Hotel Victoria will definitely be our first consideration the next time we plan to be in town.

Yelp
Location is the key to this older/smaller hotel. Pros: -Can't beat the location. Had a great dinner at the restaraunt right across the street, the diner located near the lobby is perfect for breakfast, and it's less than a block from the Hockey Hall of Fame. Hard to beat this location -Room was comfortable, although small, but that's expected considering the age. -Free wifi (again, expected nowadays) Cons: -No nearby parking; not even a parking garage. We ended up having to leave our luggage by the front desk, and drive a mile away to park (at the lot they recommended), and walk 10-15min back to the hotel. Not convenient at all. This is the sole reason I had to drop it from a 4 star rating. -View is nonexistent. The view out our window was of a brick wall.

Yelp
I had a really nice stay at Hotel Victoria. Location was important for me and I found their tiny location very convenient for my stay. Hotel Victoria is smack in the core of the downtown Toronto financial district so lots of restos, places to go. Pros : - Lobby is friendly and efficient. Never waited more than 2 minutes. Prepaid is the way! - Room was very clean every day and housekeeping was reliable. - Room is pretty decent, very nice washroom. Decent space in there. Bedroom is a little cramped but functional. - Bed was comfortable and AC was working well. - Good value at $200 CA a night. - Free WI-FI and it worked without any issues. Cons : - Door to room could use better isolation. You can easily hear outside the room which is annoying. I put my excess pillows under the door and it helped a little. - Single elevator was evidently going to provide a slow experience. Some mornings 5+ minute wait. - Non existent view, literally... but hey... natural light I guess.

Yelp
Very nice boutique hotel right in the heart of Toronto. Walking distance to St Lawrence market, the harbor, and the Hockey Hall of Fame. Lots of restaurants right nearby. Even union station is right around the corner. The hotel room itself was charming and had everything we needed. It was a little small but not cramped. Bed was comfy and bathroom was roomy. Everything was clean and decorated really pretty will definitely stay there again. Such a great location for exploring Toronto!

Yelp
I travel to Toronto 3-4 times a year between work and the Maple Leafs, typically staying at the Delta downtown. For whatever reason this visit their prices were much higher than their already pricey (for an admittedly great room/location) so I looked elsewhere. I've been into Over Easy, the attached restaurant, plenty of times so it was time to give Hotel Victoria a try. Booked through a large online engine that rhymes with schmotels lot rom as their rate was considerably cheaper than booking direct which was odd but oh well. Turns out I'm an idiot unable to tell a Monday from a Tuesday. Arriving on Tuesday only to find out that I missed my stay from last nite there was no problem, new rooms were available (though I have to say they were well cheaper than what was shown online, had I seen that price to start I would never have schmotels lot rom'd it). Room was small but plenty for a single nite. Great recommendations for local drinks/food. Its weird but one of the best showerheads I've had in any of my travels. I'll be fighting the battle of my own making with schmotels but I'll absolutely be back to Hotel Victoria in the future.

Yelp
Nice, small hotel in Downtown Toronto. Good location. Minimal lobby, etc but you can get snacks. What I DID get during my stay was back to back theatrics by the couple next door. I'm not much into being a voyeur...but it was so loud that it felt like they were sitting right next to me. Luckily, while each episode was loud they were both relatively brief...although I did learn that someone seemed to like getting slapped quite a bit. It's not a bad hotel and its in a good spot...just make sure you bring headphones.

Yelp
+Great location as Hotel Victoria is nearby tourist attractions and public transportation as well. I took a bus, subway and streetcar that were all just steps away from the hotel. There is also a Shoppers Drug Mart nearby if you need to grab water, toiletries, etc. +Our standard queen room was clean and modern. The hardwood floor was a nice touch. Although it is probably small and cozy to most people, it was fine for me since we were barely in the room during our stay. +Free wi-fi that isn't the fastest but it works. +They offer to hold your luggage if need be. You can also extend your check-out but you'll have to check the availability to do so on the morning you check-out. +Be sure to check out the discount cards by the front desk. I saw one for 13% off at H&M (basically Toronto sales tax) and some for discounts on tourist activities so they may come in handy for you. // -The front desk wasn't very friendly. When I checked in, the two gentlemen behind the desk had their eyes glued to their computer screens and took a while to look up and acknowledge me. It was the same throughout the stay. -The elevator was quite slow and on one occasion, wasn't working. We had to take the stairs and I swear they got steeper as we walked up (six floors I might add!).

Yelp
I absolutely love this little boutique hotel. I've stayed there on a few occasions and really felt safe, even by myself. The beds are comfy and bathrooms are clean and tidy (but tiny!) The clientele seem cool, and the people that work there are helpful and respectful. The rooms are small and sweet, but you may want to ask for one in the front. facing a wall isn't exactly uplifting in the morning. You don't stay here if you want a great view. This is a quiet hotel, especially when you consider it's location right downtown. Once I stayed there during Caribana and there were thousands of American tourists cruising Yonge St and honking their horns and partying until the wee hours. I was prepared and brought ear plugs, but I didn't really need them. The windows are pretty quiet and air tight. I stayed in the winter and it wasn't cold in the room either. There's a breakfast bar downstairs. The coffee isn't the best but there are so many cafe's around that you'll probably only want to eat there if you woke up late and have to get to the Royal York / Fairmont soon to grab that airport shuttle within a limited time. The public transportation is totally accessible with the subway entrance mere steps away. Everything you need is close by, and they'll even call you a cab if you need it. You can walk down to the waterfront or up Yonge St. to shop or anywhere downtown really. I hope to stay there again, it's a favourite of mine.

Yelp
My friend and I stayed here one evening after booking on hotwire. Although there was no valet and we had to park blocks away and come back and the rooms were very small and too busy with ikea furniture, it was a pleasant and clean boutique style hotel despite the lack of room service or amenities, they preauthorized a substantial amount of money on our credit card. Nonetheless we were very busy the next day and elected to stay at full price despite it being over what we budgeted. Upon out departure the following day, we were told we had incurred a charge for "smoking" in the room. The only evidence we were aware of was the fact that my friend who smokes cleaned out her purse and left an empty pack in the trash can. Despite our protestations, we were informed the $135. charge would NOT be reversed and although work crews had been in and out f the rooms and hotel the entire stay, it had to be us and not any other possibility. Given the fact they knew we were traveling students staying beyond our means, the fact they insisted (with conviction and no apology) that we would risk such a fee for a cigarette when it was warm outside and if my friend wanted to smoke only a few steps to the door, they would listen to no rationale we presented. Given these issues I strongly suggest avoiding this establishment. The Hotel Edward is as close and much more quaint. The Westin Harbor treats you like a king! Very much unlike this place!!

Yelp
Pro: The staff were very nice, rooms were a decent size and clean. Hotel has a great location. Con: TIP: it is absolutely FINE to park in front of the hotel when you arrive and go to the front desk. They will provide you with the parking lot address - 7 min walk away. I wasn't too keen about this, but it was worth it financially. Their drapes do not block out the sun. Hardwood floors - well, wood tiles really. They didn't install them properly and they creaked. a lot. Shortage of electrical outlets. Ice machine in the basement - we were on the 8th floor.

Yelp
Location, location, location. The best thing about Hotel Victoria is its location. It is close to the subway and street cars, making the city very easy and inexpensive to navigate. 5 stars for location. Other than that, the rooms are smallish, but clean and fairly trendy. But I wasn't a fan of the frosted glass on the entire bathroom door you could basically still see right through. The staff was nice. No view in our room at all, the window faced a brick wall--so ask for a room facing Yonge St. if you want to take in the city. Free wi-fi is a definite plus. I would not recommend Hotel Victoria if you have a car to park and are worried about its security. The lot they refer you to on the website is small, cramped, uncovered, extremely busy and it is not as cheap as others in the area. The price stated on the hotel's website is incorrect. Investigate closer and cheaper options before you fork over the $ in advance to the hotel's recommended lot. Also, as others have mentioned, there is no place park out front of the hotel while you check in. So plan on carrying all of your luggage several blocks. We knew that in advance, so it wasn't a huge issue but definitely something you should prepare for. No car to park? No problem! Did I mention the location is great and totally close to public transportation? We enjoyed our stay very much and would definitely stay again for the discounted rate which we received. Especially for the location. If we had to pay full price, I'd probably shop around in the same area for hotels with more service options.

Yelp
My BF and I stayed @ Hotel Victoria in a Deluxe Twin Queen room on the 4th floor. I had requested a room that faced outwards towards the street at the recommendation of another yelper who said facing a wall in the morning might be a little depressing. HV was able to accommodate the request and gave us an excellent room that faced Yonge St! The DTQ was a large room with two incredibly comfortable beds, two couches, one desk chair, a desk, three lamps and one arm chair. I am still in love with the water pressure in the shower of this hotel. I took a shower when I arrived home and instantly pouted by the comparison. There were two robes in the closet of the hotel which were a godsend because I forgot mine in a frenzy of packing. Advice: -If you're coming with multiple devices (cellphone, netbook, etc) bring a power bar or power strip. We could only find two outlets plus the one on the lamp. Would be fine for one person. But, for two it was a stretch. -The wifi was on occasion quite slow. Could have been the usage of the day or hour but if you need it for work or travel plans it might be helpful to download and save copies before you're reliant on hotel internet. Downsides: -No bellman -No room service (didn't care much until I was tired enough to miss it) -No in-house restaurant although Over-Easy is right next door(7am-3pm). -One elevator - for staff & guests, on occasion slow. -Small lobby. We only had to wait in it on the way out. But, if multiple guests arrived at the same time I could see that being quite the traffic jam. Upsides: -The shower- omg- the shower -- how I love thee! -This hotel is right near everything and the rare thing it's not near is accessible by TTC (of which there is a station right over on King) -Room Design - no gross outdated mauve and seafoam green toned floral patterns here! -They were currently re-doing the hallways. So, look forward to new hallway wallpaper/paint! -Modern TV with Netflix options. -Great value for the money. Lingering concerns - It seemed the paint on the ceiling in our room was peeling. At times, after a shower, my BF reported that "the ceiling was raining again". There wasn't a bathroom fan with an on/off switch like in many hotels. It was a such a beautiful room I hope its standards don't fail due to faulty or absent bathroom fans. Beyond those minor notes everything was excellent and we were very pleased. I'll definitely be back when in Toronto! And will recommend the location to friends.

Yelp
This is a 'boutique' hotel in Downtown Toronto. Stayed here on business for 2 nights in October. Took the Airport Express Shuttle from Pearson Airport ($19OW, $29 RT). Hotel Victoria is an easy 4 blocks from the shuttle's Fairmont Royal York stop. I had a standard room which came with 1 double bed, TV, desk. I was a bit surprised at the wood floors in the room, but everything felt very clean and the bathroom was spacious with plenty of hot water. The location of the hotel was great from what I could tell - 1 1/2 blocks from the subway, Starbucks, Brookfield Place.

Yelp
Most comfortable King size bed I've slept on in a hotel. Staff was exceptional. Great customer service. Close to downtown. Walking distance to most events, restaurants and shopping. We walked north up Young street to the amazing shopping mall and lots of restaurants. Would definitely like to stay here again when I visit Toronto.

Yelp
Overall great experience. Staff was very friendly. Had been flying all night and luckily a room was avail at 9am so they allowed us to check in early. Also let us check out late. Room was a little small, but it was nice and it was very clean. Fine for two people, however. Downside is you could hear people talking In the hall. But since they were only walking by and the sound didn't last long, it was ok. Cleaning ladies were having a convo in the am and you could hear everything, but again not a huge deal. Perfect location for downtown. Close to everything. Price was right. Will be back, thanks Hotel Victoria!

Yelp
We tagged along with a couple of friends to Toronto for a long weekend and they had chosen the Hotel Victoria so we made a reservation to keep close to them as well as the downtown action we were looking for. The front desk was very easy to deal with on the phone and our reservation for an upgraded single queen room took no more than a few minutes. Big plus for me right there. Small room but reasonably well appointed including a flat screen TV, bed with good sheets and a smallish but decent bathroom. The room was 85+ deg when we came in but the conditioner took care of that while we went out to dinner. No big deal. The TV came with AppleTV which was an awesome perk because we got free access to Netflix on the TV. So much better than browsing what was on cable and we got to watch some Fawlty Towers in between the action around town. Best addition ever! Location is very convenient to the subway and within reasonable walking distance to Rogers Centre, CN Tower, and the main Chinatown area. Parking is a bit of a hassle with a 5 min walk to their recommended parking garage but the prices there are very reasonable for in the city at $14 for a full day and they offer credit card payment. Not bad. All in all this was a pretty good option for short notice and at decent prices for a downtown hotel.

Yelp
It's a nice building and the room was decent but the TV was grainy. The hair dryer was broken and there was a dirty used tube of body lotion in the bathroom. I don't even want to think about why there was brown stuff on it. Blech. It was cheap and close to my meeting location for the next day. I wouldn't have chosen this hotel myself but it was fine for work.

Yelp
Strategic location! Although downtown and close to the financial area this hotel is perfect for short visits to Toronto if you are traveling by train. Victoria is just two blocks away from the train station, easy access to subway and tram stations, lots of places to eat around. Hockey Hall of Fame is just around the corner if this is your must see attraction. The building is old historic construction that has been renovated to fit the requirements for contemporary hotel in simple and modern style. The best part is the wooden floor, comfortable bed, the bathroom was small but absolutely ok. Just don't go for a room on the second floor if you have arrived early and no other rooms are ready yet, the personnel indeed understood that the dungeon we were offered initially needs to be substituted with another room on the eight floor and we were happy with our stay!

Yelp
I had some apprehension when I booked this but I thought that the location (easy walk from Dundas Square, 10 minutes walk to CN Tower, 1 block from King St station, 10 minutes from St Lawrence Market) was worth it. No where is a perfect location but this is pretty great! The Hotel Victoria is upfront about the fact that they don't have onsite parking- they give great directions to a safe, affordable lot about 7 minutes away. It's an easy walk and it gives you an excuse to walk near some great bars. We parked the car when we got there and didn't have to worry about it for 3 days. The lobby was nicely remodeled when we first entered and I felt pleased to see this lovely little gem in middle of the city. I got nervous again when we got off the elevator on the 2nd floor. I had read that there is a lot of street noise from the 2nd floor and we got off the elevator to see that they were in the process of renovating the hallway... "uh oh", I thought. As it turned out, there was NO street noise from our room. However, the hallway renovation was frustrating. The workers began scrapping wallpaper off the walls each of the 3 mornings at 7:30 am!!! Seriously?! How can there be that much wallpaper to scrape? I know that work needs to be done but that hour was NOT the time! Also, I felt like we should have been compensated in some way for staying on this floor during renovations (discounted room or some sort of incentive). It was disappointing that was not communicated to us when we made the reservation and the desk clerk never said a word about it when we checked in- some acknowledgement or apology would have been nice. It doesn't seem like a big deal but the fact that they were trying to pretend that it wasn't happening was odd. The great thing was the room! Although the building is historic/ old and the rooms are small, they are SO well laid out. The bed, desk, 2 nightstands and love seat all for well into this snug little space. We never felt cramped and really enjoyed the upgrades bathroom (nice tiles, new vanity, etc). The air conditioner works very well, which is incredibly important to my hot- natured husband. Overall, it was a great experience. I do not regret choosing the Hotel Victoria and I kind of wish that I could visit in winter to have the chance to sit in the lobby and enjoy the beautiful fireplace while overlooking the busy streets. I think that it's a great find, a good location and the price was reasonable. I would definitely recommend the Hotel Victoria to a friend.

Yelp
Took our moms here for afternoon tea. Cute spot, nice choice of teas and the serving was satisfying. I was especially happily surprised to get the valet service. I thought i was going to have to drive around to look for parking. It was a hit for our moms. My fiancée and I took our mothers :)

Yelp
Staff is very friendly. I was able to check in as early as 9a because the room was ready. The woman at the desk went out of her way to make sure I knew how to get around. The hotel room was clean and quaint. Not much of a view, but perfect for what I was looking for. It has a great historic feeling. Also... Free wifi!! I would stay here again!

Yelp
We had a nice stay at Hotel Victoria. Perfect location: The hotel is directly located in the old city, and only 100 m from the main train station. Crossing the busy street from the train station to the hotel is a nightmare, but we later realized there is an underground passage. The room was very small, but clean and modern. The breakfast buffet is one of the best I have seen in the last years! The only significant downside of the place is that it's being restorated right now, and it looks like it will take some more time to be completed. Most importantly: The elevator is currently out of order, and we had to carry our heavy luggage three floors up and down the stairs. I would nevertheless highly recommend that place, especially for young travelers without kids (because of the missing elevator and small rooms).

Yelp
While looking for decently priced and well-located hotels on Expedia, I happened upon this one, and decided to give it a try. I don't know much of anything about Toronto, let alone its multiple districts. I was more than pleasantly surprised to find out it was happens to be a 10-minute walk away from Union Station (score, no need for a taxi!), and within walking distance of most places we wanted to check out (i.e. the Eaton Centre, HHOF, The Esplanade, and most of the restaurants). The hotel is a quaint little boutique hotel tucked in between Wellington and King on Yonge St., with a modern and simplistic decor. The rooms, albiet small, are perfect for a short stay. They offer wood flooring (a nice change from the drab carpet featured in many hotels across the country), and very high ceilings offsetting the lack of square-footage. The hotel staff is very nice and they offer to store your bags before or after check-in. We were due to check out on Sunday at 11am, but upon our return from our night out on Saturday, we asked the front desk clerk if it was at all possible to check out later, so as to sleep in a little. He said it wasn't a problem to check out later, and at no cost! We ended up checking out at 1pm, and they held our bags for us no problem until we left for our train at 5pm. I also appreciated the easily accessibility to the bus/subway/trams; made getting around very easy! And the free wifi! **TIP: If you go on a weekend and will be travelling around the city by public transit, I would suggest the TTC Day Pass; it costs 10.75$, can be used on the bus, tram or subway and can be used by 2 people.** For a centrally located hotel in the downtown core, I was surprised at its affordability. I would most definitiely recommend this place to anyone and everyone (who wants to stay downtown Toronto that is!)

Yelp
It may sound strange, but the two most important things we look for in a hotel room are a cable TV lineup that includes HGTV, and a nice bathtub. We have neither at home, so they're a huge part of the relaxation experience. So when the Hotel Victoria advertised "Premium Cable TV", I pretty much expected that HGTV would be part of that. But, no. When I called down to the front desk to ask about it I was told they only subscribe to basic cable. When I said that their website and in-room information says premium, they blamed Rogers Cable saying they were having problems. Finally, they offered us free continental breakfast as a consolation. Yay! Toast and coffee! They do have AppleTV with Netflix which is cool, but I have that at home, too, so... The nice thing about this hotel is that it's in a great location, so we decided to just get out and go to dinner. I highly recommend The Keg on The Esplanade near Scott Street. After dinner we came back thinking a nice bath would be a nice way to end the evening. Again, no luck. The tub drain stopper doesn't exactly stop the water from draining...at all. Fortunately, we're only here for one night before catching the train to Montreal in the morning. But we have a one-night reservation here on the return trip that we will be canceling. Oh, and the lamp randomly goes on and off by itself. That's not helpful.

Yelp
Excellent hotel. Great service. Great amenities. Quiet and extremely convenient. TV was a little confusing (too many remotes) and the IHome clock radio never seemed to work right but these are all little things. Carla at the front desk was terrifically friendly and efficient.

Yelp
Very friendly and helpful staff. Perfect location for exploring downtown Toronto. The room was a little small but comfortable, updated and clean. I would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Really nice hotel, great rooms & room service. Great place for a "staycation", the Stylistics on the iPod, watching the Habs and a little grown folks dancing during the half/commercials.

Yelp
Came here for the Hockey Hall of Fame and skating near city hall. This is an affordable hotel in an amazing location, near Air Canada Centre as well. It is a boutique type hotel, smallish rooms, but it's all modern and has what we needed, especially since we were out and about most of the time. The staff is super nice and helpful as well... just know there is no parking, however they do suggest pay garages around the corner - choose the parking in the Commerce building, best rate.

Yelp
Great, affordable hotel in the perfect location. Check-in/out was a breeze and the room was nice. Very quiet, free wi-wi and one of the comfiest hotel beds I've had in a while. Could have been five stars, but the room was small and I had a lovely view of a brick wall. Also, no safe in the room, which was disappointing, and no on-site exercise, which would have been nice.

Yelp
Do not recommend. It's convenient and the price is good. No amenities, restaurant, health center. Elevator is slow. Rooms are small. Staff is nice but generally unschooled in guest services.

Yelp
Physically the hotel offers what is expected from a hotel: a clean room. Nothing else. However we were surprised by the very unprofessional reception staff. Brian (a receptionnist that luckly you shall never meet) managed to impress us by his lack of basic hospitality skills, courtesy and friendliness. Brian did all his efforts to be absolutely helpless when we asked for basic assistance in scanning an urgent document when the machine was right behind him and could be operated by a child: if you ever have an emergency during your trip the Hotel Victoria staff will be happy to see you struggle. We are convinced you may find a better place for a better price. Toronto is well supplied with public transportation, so don't worry about a central location that much.
