My wife and I wrapped up our honeymoon last week at the stunning Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten and let's just say we finished with an absolute BANG. ||While we were only able to stay for one day in Munich - we left wanting to come back to Munich in the near future and we would not look at another property. ||The lobby and the bar are absolutely gorgeous. Daniel in the bar was an absolute pleasure to spend time with. He shared a lot of history of the region between the Mountain areas and Munich itself and made us feel as if we were pouring cocktails in our home in the United States. ||We look forward to spending more time with Daniel at the St. Moritz property but man you all should never lose this man! He is wonderful. ||His colleague Paul (I believe his name was) is an absolute treasure and a HOOT. He recommended my wife and I go to this epic Italian restaurant Il Mulino and we had no problem getting a reservation on Halloween Night. It was delicious and we were immersed with the locals. ||Finally - Rojina at breakfast. My wife and I only had 15 minutes to eat before our 10 hour flight back to the States and Rojina made sure we were adequately stocked up for our flight home. Her service was second to none. ||The Hotel Kempinski is special and the people are wonderful!||Would highly recommend.

The Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski delivers true five-star luxury. Our room was elegant and extremely comfortable, and the service throughout the hotel was outstanding—professional, warm, and genuinely attentive. The location is unbeatable, just steps away from Munich’s finest shopping streets and attractions. The spa and breakfast were both excellent. This is our top choice in Munich. Highly recommended!

I'm using the hotel for a meeting with a business partner from Munich. Here's a brief summary: It's not possible to drive directly to the hotel, as a Christmas wine stand seems to be more important. Waiting for a free parking space took more than 5 minutes. The service there was excellent. In the lobby, it took a 10-minute wait to get a table for a meeting at lunchtime. The table had to be cleared first, and then it took another 10 minutes before we could speak to a member of staff for the order. The same situation occurred in the evening. Otherwise, the service in the other areas is very good, and the rooms are also good.

Long story short: this hotel is not a 5-star hotel and if you take away the “luxury” decor, it is a 3-star hotel at best. I can’t understand all the 5-star reviews on here. Perhaps it’s their first time at a 5-star hotel and don’t know any better or maybe they booked suite rooms and got preferential treatment. Go to the Charles Hotel if you truly want a 5-star hotel. We have been coming to Munich every Christmas time to visit family and we usually stay at the Charles Hotel but we decided to try this hotel because it is a Kempinski hotel (we stayed at the Kempinski Grand Hotel in Riga before and we had the best experience). First impression: we initially missed the entrance to the hotel because it is packed with a glühwein hut and gondolas (found out it is a restaurant serving fondue). There were people smoking within that packed space. There is no doorman and no one helping with luggage/doors. We found this strange. Lobby: there is no separate check-in/reception area and check-in is part of the main lounge area. The lounge area was a complete zoo packed with so many people and loud. It did not make for a comfortable check-in. We had a better check-in experience in Vegas and those of you who have been there know how crazy it can get. Check-in: we didn’t feel the warmth of a 5-star hotel. We didn’t feel very welcome. Room: it had a luxury feel to it but you can see it is getting worn out. It was clean overall. However, the light on the cosmetic mirror didn’t work, the shower door didn’t close properly, and the heating wasn’t functioning well. There was no shower gel in the room and had to ask for one. The conditioner didn’t feel like a conditioner more like a body lotion. The housekeeping didn’t replace the used glasses. There are 3-star hotels out there with better rooms. Lounge area: this is the only area in the hotel if you want to relax outside of your room and it was completely full and loud with many groups waiting to get a table. On top of that, because the check-in/reception area is located there, you wouldn’t be able to relax there. Restaurant: after checking in, it was around 3/4pm and we wanted to have late lunch. We were told right away that it was full. It looked like the restaurant prioritized non-guests. Room service: we tried to order dinner but we couldn’t reach the room service and it went to voicemail. We had to call again a few times to finally reach them. The gentleman who brought the food was nice and the food was good. Breakfast: the first morning on the way to breakfast, when we just out of the elevator, there was a waiter asking us if we are going to breakfast and told us that the main area is full and they set up another area. He led us to the conference/ballroom area. Breakfast was very disappointing and food was mostly cold and the service was non-existent. The next morning, we went to the main area (the restaurant area) for breakfast and we had a better experience there like we were at a completely different hotel. The waiters/waitresses were very friendly/professional and I wish all other staff in the hotel were consistently friendly/professional like them. The breakfast option was still limited. Check-out: they didn’t ask how my stay was which is hospitality 101 and informed me as they gave me the invoice that there is a 1€ donation added to each room service which was never written/communicated anywhere and that they can remove it if we wish. We hope they use that donation to improve the hotel. All in all, this is the strangest “5-star” hotel we have ever been to and given our experience here, we are completely turned off by the Kempinski brand and we will not be visiting another Kempinski hotel.

Facility is little bit of old, but maintains very well. Bed is firm, bathroom is in average size. Location is excellent. But hotel team doesn’t want to go extended way to help customer, if request is within the policy, then yes, if it is outside policy, definitely not. I don’t feel pampered in this hotel. Not like the Berlin Ritz, the Ritz team in the lounge tried every possible ways to ensure the customer has been taking care of. Meanwhile in this Kempinski property, I just feel like living in an expensive boarding school. When I called to talk to the reservation and ask if they can let me use the same code with the breakfast package as previous day listed in the website, I was told no. Despite the price didn’t change but because I was booking on the same day, so they took breakfast rate and with no possible to add breakfast to my reservation. Then I entered the room and it was overly sprayed perfume that almost choked us. They are very nicely let us change to another room, but the new room has very low ceiling and it was almost midnight, we were very tired after driving, so we stayed in our original room. The next day, we went to the front desk and asked them not to put any perfume in the room. However, on the third night, the room sprayed perfume again, and we could not get good sleep and missed the breakfast. So during the check out I asked if they can accommodate any bar items or pastry for our missing breakfast, I got 2 boxes, total 12 pieces chocolate.

Alright everyone, my wife and I arrived at the Kempinski in Munich today and I thought I would share my impression of the first day: ROOM: perfectly ordinary; based on the price, I expected something much better. SERVICE: with the exception of the first "Lady in Red" (Pia from Sydney) the service has been terrible. It took two hours for them to get our bag to the room (and we could have done it ourselves). I could add other comments but will see at the end of our stay. Maybe they just don't like Americans anymore or it's just me (but not my usual treatment). Cost/Value: I booked via Hotels.com and expected breakfast was included. We found out that was not the case. Am paying almost $500/night and this was very disappointing. OVERALL: Unless it gets better, spend your money elsewhere. I will update at the end of our stay... Ok everyone, here is my update after our stay until the 31st of December: ROOM & FACILITIES: Overall, it was a satisfactory room and well cared for by the housekeeping staff. This being said, was it a "Premier" room by US hotel standards? No. I've stayed in Hilton Hotels and this would be considered a standard room with a king-size bed. Half-way through out stay there was an issue with the cable TV feed and we went without for two days. There was also a Xmas tree in the the exterior atrium which had fallen over and was left that way until the holiday was over. My wife and I just expected better from a Kempinski property. SERVICE: I will say that the staff was superb overall. In particular, I have to mention the "Ladies in Red," Piya and Franciska, and the servers/managers in the Restaurant/Bar at Breakfast, Julia, Dion, Sabrina, Felipe, Marhabub and Emily. These folks (as well as others) were wonderful people and always so kind and professional. COST/VALUE: Because this is a Kempinski property (and for the cost) our expectations were high but we were a little disappointed in some of the particulars. I could go into more details but suffice it to say that management has some work to do. OVERALL: It was a very nice stay and we ended up enjoying ourselves. Could the stay have been even better? Yes, I think it could have been. There just needs to be a bit more attention to detail by management. I recommend getting away from the front desk and walking around the property a bit more.

Deeply disappointing and shockingly poor service for a hotel of this caliber. We booked three separate rooms at Vier Jahreszeiten München for a family stay over the holiday season and were genuinely stunned by how poor the experience was from start to finish. For a hotel that positions itself as a luxury property (and charges accordingly) this was nowhere near acceptable. From the outset, check-in was unnecessarily complicated. Despite having booked three rooms together, the staff could not seem to understand or facilitate a simple check-in process on a single card. They also completely mixed up who was staying in which room and failed to apply our frequent traveler numbers, despite these being provided in advance. One of our rooms was not ready by 3pm, despite booking through Amex, where early readiness is highlighted as a benefit. Two mornings later, staff knocked on our door asking for cash for breakfast because they claimed they did not have a card on file. This was unacceptable for a supposed five-star hotel. We were offered no porter assistance whatsoever, making luggage handling a struggle. There was also no water in the room, something that should be standard at this price point. Housekeeping was equally inconsistent: shampoo was not restocked, and the mini bar was never replenished during our stay. All three rooms were unbearably hot, and when we opened the windows just to be able to sleep, we were woken at 5am by loud rubbish disposal directly behind the building. The gym was shockingly small and overcrowded. Breakfast was equally chaotic, with overflow seating pushed into a back ballroom, completely removing any sense of comfort or luxury. Overall, this stay was a huge letdown. When you look forward to a special holiday stay and pay a premium for what is marketed as a luxury experience, being met with this level of disorganization, poor service, and basic failures is incredibly disappointing.

Our stay was a highlight of a recent two week trip. One unexpected great moment - we needed a tailor for extensive work on a dress for which we needed a very fast turnaround. The hotel has a tailor on staff and the work was completed in three hours start to finish! Excellent service!

I wasn't staying at the Hotel but my friend was here and we visited to meet with her. The property is very nicely located in a high-end part of Munich. As is usual for a full service hotel, they have people outside to welcome guests and a whole bunch of people in the lobby to help with registrations and such. In the lobby is the most amazing display of candy truffles. They're not cheap but they are absolutely amazing. Well worth it. And I don't know exactly how much they are but they are delicious. A perfect gift if you need one. Service at the front is impeccable. And while it's not my own experience, my friend said that her stay at the hotel was excellent. We booked two nights at the hotel and unfortunately had to cancel the second night and fly home early due to a medical emergency at home. The hotel refused to refund us for our second night. We did not cancel for fun; it was an emergency. We would not have stayed at all, except we could not get an earlier flight. Emergencies happen and they must be more flexible. We will never stay here or one of their other hotels again based on this alone, but there were other things we disliked about the hotel as well. The lobby was beautiful, but the hotel room itself was cold, ugly, and spartan. The shower both had a rain shower and a handheld. In the middle of using the rain shower, some metal piece fell off the handheld (which I was not touching, using, or near). There is little light in the room, making it difficult to see things. Not sure why it was difficult to put bigger overhead lights and lamps in the room, but the lights are tiny and do not do much. The lobby reeks of cigar smoke because of their cigar bar that they open to clean at night. Cigar smoke makes me extremely nauseous; they needed to provide a disclaimer before staying here. I never would have booked here had I known. We ordered apple streusel for dessert at the hotel restaurant and ate (included) breakfast; both had no flavor. The apple streusel was flavorless. The breakfast looked better than it tasted. None of the items in the hot buffet were hot. Although they provided pretzels, Target used to serve better ones when was younger (side note: I wish Target would bring their pretzels back). Essentially, I've had better service and stay in Holidays Inns in the US. Holiday Inns smell better too. Our stay was not acceptable from this highly rated, expensive hotel. It was not worth it whatsoever and extremely disappointing. The only pro: the bell hops were extremely kind and nice.

I was very unimpressed with this hotel. From start to finish. It is in an excellent and very posh location - with a Bvlgari literally attached. It's across from Cartier and there is a Van Cleef across the street. There is some seriously high-end shopping available on the Maximilianstraße where this hotel is located. As always, the doormen and valets were awesome and the gal who checked us in was a sweetheart. That is where the good stops. The room had an odd layout and not all the light switches worked. There were no luggage racks for our suitcases and we had to ask several times. There were no sheets on the bed, only one cover and the beds were REALLY hard and uncomfortable. The turndown service consisted of water by the bedside but they didn't give us any so we had to call down and ask for it. They also didn't put a Do Not Disturb sign in our door so we were woken by staff early in the AM our first day in Munich. Not good. The in-room entertainment didn't work, the tv remote barely worked and the english option didn't work at all so it was useless. It also seemed really outdated. We had dinner in the bar/restaurant downstairs which is not cheap and the waitress was a smartass with me when I asked a question about one of the appetizers and wanted her to explain to me exactly what was in it. She acted like I was an idiot and I had to correct her. She apologized and was very polite afterwards but it really irritates me when staff at a fancy hotel act snobbish. The included breakfast was decent - with a lot of options - so I was happy with that and the concierge desk was very friendly and helpful as well. The room was not comfortable, low on amenities, needed some updates, and I wasn't impressed. This was one of my least favorite hotels. As far as location to restaurants, shops, and some sights, it's great. But for the price. It wasn't worth it.

The service provided by the hotel was very impressive, professional and welcoming. The hotel provided a room where store in safety our quality bikes. My customers enjoyed a quality bike rental service (velocerental.com) with pick up in Munich Germany delivered at the Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski hotel and collected at the end of the rental at the Saker hotel in Salzburg, Austria. This hotel is adequate and satisfies my needs. However I think for the price there should be much more features available such as bigger fridges, microwaves, better control over the lighting, floor mats in front of the shower so you don't get water all over the floor, wheels on chairs at the desk, better tvs, bigger nightstands, etc. In terms of experience I think I'm very comfortable here but I honestly expected more from this hotel. The lobby is beautiful and the pool is great (wish they had a hot tub though). In totality this is a great place to stay but the price is too high in my opinion for the service provided.

On our recent trip in Europe we spent 2 days in Munich. The hotel is centrally located near Marienplatz near the city center. Upon check in we received a glass of Prosecco as we waited for our room to be ready. Everyone working in the hotel is extremely friendly and helpful. If your interested in high tea in the lobby I would suggest booking early. The rooms are rather spacious and all the toiletries are from ferregamo. The thing I liked most about the room was the shower. I could stay in there for hours. For those who are going to the airport taxi fare is $80-$90 euros, a cheeper option is to use Uber, which is about $65 euros.

So far, aside from the friendly staff, this has been the most disappointing "luxury" hotel experience I have ever had. We deeply regret choosing this hotel for our first visit to Munich, as our moods have been greatly soured. We booked months in advance and were promised "free spa access". Before checking in, we were very much looking forward to swimming and relaxing in their heated pool which is part of the "Kempinski The Spa", only to arrive and find out that it is closed from 9/2/19 to 9/6/19 for cleaning (who takes this long to clean a single pool...?). What does this free spa access get us? It seems like absolutely nothing because with the pool closed, every other spa option is an additional charge. In my opinion, a truly first class establishment would have made sure that guests had an option for relaxation, such as a jacuzzi, despite the pool being unavailable. Instead, we get a "sorry you're SOL" note left in the room for us to discover. But wait, there's more! The restaurant is ALSO closed for renovations and they have a pop-up replacement in a converted conference room. Luxurious. Breakfast is NOT included in the rate. The continental breakfast (you know, the style that's usually free or very low cost at most hotels) can be had for €31. In the meal description it is specified that you will receive ONE hot beverage and ONE glass of fresh juice, but don't worry, you can order an additional, single glass of orange juice for the sensible price of €12. (That was sarcasm, for the record). Fortunately, there are other options within walking distance of the hotel. As for the room, it feels as though they've tried to make things feel high end and high tech, but there are far too many shortcomings for me to consider this truly high end. First off, the furniture looks and feels like stuff that you can purchase at IKEA. The beds are so firm that it feels like we are sleeping on the floor with a mattress pad for comfort. Also, despite setting the air conditioning to 18C, the provided comforters are so warm that we both woke up during the night. It seems that the mattress traps a lot of heat. Super. The bathrooms are visually appealing at first, but when it came time to take a shower, even more problems became apparent. First, the shower door does NOT seal completely, which causes a lovely puddle to form after the floor mat has reached maximum hydration. Stepping on a sopping wet bath mat feels disgusting. Next there's the color-changing LED lights which make you think that you could have a nice "mood lighting experience". However, the reality is that you must keep the rest of the bathroom lights on else the shower lights automatically turn off as well and you're left in the dark. To top it off, you have ZERO control over the flow of water. What should be a calming, peaceful rainfall shower experience is instead a torrential downpour of high water pressure. The only things that you can control are the temperature and whether the overhead "rainfall" or the more traditional detachable shower-head is on. Also, the buttons in the shower have zero tactile response and there is enough lag from when you touch a button to when something happens that it's easy to have nothing happen at all if you touch the buttons 2+ times. I don't understand how one could design such a bathroom like this and not realize how badly they've messed up after actually using it. In short, the user/customer experience here is abysmal once you get past the facade of decadence. Spend your hard earned money elsewhere. If we could do this all over again, then we'd be staying at the Bayerischer Hof without question.

It's a pretty nice hotel to stay in overall, though my room was a bit on the small side. The furnishings were up to date and the shower had digital features (told you the exact temperature!). In keeping with my bad hotel karma (see all my other hotel reviews) this time was no different. The wifi was hopeless, it would work for a couple minutes then die, for a business friendly hotel that's pretty sad. Also my shower had a slow/clogged drain. I found myself standing in a couple inches of water and when I finally opened the shower door to get out, the bathroom was flooded. I mentioned both these problems on checkout and got no reaction, though the lady did make a note (hopefully for the service staff). Fingers crossed my luck improves with the next hotel!

This can be nothing other than a 5 star experience. Wonderfully located in the heart of Munich and the sensr of luxury hits you from the moment you walk into the famous lobby. Strewn with comfy club chairs, it is easy to just plop yourself down and watch the rich people go about their business. My room was one of the recently refurbished. Is pretty modern, an i Pad in the room to tell you about all the services on offer, a rainshower and a hell of a comfy bed. On the 6th floor you have the spa which is, well, amazing. The pool is tranquil and it must have some kind of menthol oil in it as it was so soothing and cleared up my blocked nose straight away. There is also a sauna and a steam room. Careful though, as this is Germany, it is a completely nude area for both men and women. There is even a balcony to cool off on, but you must be nude. I'm sure you would be allowed to keep your towel on if a bit prude, but I just went bare and free and it was quite liberating. If you are trying to impress however, stay inside, it's mighty cold out there in winter and I doubt your manhood would be shown in its best light... Breakfast was amazing. A huge range of fruit, cheeses, juices, meats, pastries etc. rarely have I seen such a spread. I'd love to come back here and spend more time in Munich...boss, I need a raise!

The cigar bar here is lousy....just a room like at an airport with no service.....you have to go out and get your own drinks at the bar and bring them back or collect them from the door. They only sell Davidoff cigars and maybe another one or two others. The cigar prices are ok in comparison to other places. I cannot really comment on the hotel here as I have never stayed here. The hotel lobby bar and restaurant is quite nice however located right behind reception which is a bit odd. The menu for food is pretty touristy and expensive. A burger was around €28 and a cheese toastie around €14 or 18 (can't remember). Drinks are also not cheap so be prepared to pay a premium for something you can get in many places around the corner for a lot less. The food was nothing to write home about. I am not likely to return here and, as much as I love cigars the ambience is not ideal for a cigar and whiskey evening. Will jus have to look and find another cigar bar in town ;-))

As with car rental companies, the best way to experience service is to lower your expectations. That is not applicable at this hotel as we were constantly able to raise them up during our 4 night stay at the Kempinski. Even though we arrived quite late, past midnight, we were still offered the chance to order some food for room service which was not the best food, but considering that everything else was closed, was quite a reprieve. The affable host also shared all the services and amenities on offer during our stay. I immediately used the shoe shine service! My favorite amenity during my stay was the automated Toto toilet. Why don't more hotels offer this basic luxury? The room was impeccably clean, and I especially loved the turndown service which meant a new bottle of water (I drink 5 liters a day!). One thing missing -- a nice iPod dock. It would have made our long stay even more awesome. There were plenty of USB ports so charging our devices wasn't an issue. The WiFi was free for us and fast enough, although we had the option to pay more for faster service. The mini-bar could have been better stocked with more types of teas and drinks, but the bar downstairs was just a short hop away anyway. I really liked the convenient car park in the basement that could be easily charged to the room. Very handy. The bed was comfortable and just the right firmness. I really despise the ultra-soft mattresses at a lot of hotels. They're so bad for your back! Dining has to be weakest point of this hotel. The food was almost never fresh. Room service, especially, tasted like frozen food reheated. Breakfast was decent for its continental theme, but I was expecting much better for the hotel class. Fortunately, the smiling faces and impeccable service made up for it. You could also order specialty eggs and other foods for breakfast, but after trying the gross waffles I didn't even try any more. Just something for them to improve upon. One of my favorite things was the live music. Most fun when you're sitting at the bar. I'll definitely be staying again for my next Munich trip!

This is on the equivalent of a 5th Avenue in NYC in beautiful Munich. Although I did come here for business and I stayed in a room that is on a business trip budget, no doubt that the hotel itself is very luxurious. From the moment you walk in you are greeted a by very friendly and accommodating staff. The ambiance of the lobby is very plush and, although on the smaller side, very comfortable and warm. My room was, like I said, business budget size but the room itself as well as the bathroom was very modernized and clean. The morning breakfast buffet was also enjoyable - a few hot stations, including a few sausage stations of course, and cold cuts, pastries and fruits. I enjoyed my stay here very much. You cannot beat the location of this hotel as well as the staff. Even though much of my stay was jet lagged, I loved Munich and this hotel.

Situated on Maxmillianstrasse, the NYC equivalent of Madison/5th Avenue, this lovely leading hotel of the world aims to please. From the moment you arrive, the service really does shine. Hotel bellhops and valets are welcoming and check-in was prompt and efficient-we happened to arrive on a redeye and asked to be put in a room as soon as possible. They took our cell phone number and recommended a coffee shop where we got a quick breakfast and voila! Our room was ready...the first one that is. Our superior room had a king size bed and was well appointed with modern amenities. Unfortunately (or rather fortunately for us), there was a leak through the light in our shower which clearly was a hazardous situation. While it took them quite some time to re-situate us in a room on the same floor, they assured us they were working on it. And alas, three hours later, we were put in the suite on the same (2nd) floor where we were greeted with a complimentary bottle of wine, sparking and still bottled water, a fruit and cheese plate and some macarons. Well worth the hassle! The room was spacious and the whirlpool tub large enough for two. It was particularly terrific for us as we entertained our friends (who were in the same hotel) for a cocktail before indulging in the Bavarian cuisine at nearby Spatenhaus. Everything about this hotel is really quite nice. The lobby is stunning with a cathedral ceiling and comfy furniture. The drinks, wine list and menus for bites throughout the day are fabulous. We enjoyed a few drinks on several of the days we visited in Munich. The gym is small but modern and has a nice deck off the indoor pool. Juice bar a nice added touch. I also heard the spa services were quite good. While it is tempting to spend a little more money and stay at the Bayerischerhof, another LHW, the location of this hotel cannot be beat. It is a short walk to the English garden and to the Viktualmarket and Marienplatz. And the amenities and service are top notch to boot...why stay anywhere else?

Is it better to have the worst room in the best hotel or the best room in the worst hotel? Its one of those chicken or the egg dilemmas. Pros - Hotel is centrally located on a ritzy shopping street near most of the attractions (Marienplatz, Hofbräuhaus, Viktualienmarkt, Englischer Garten, Alter Peter) and best restaurants (Haxnbauer, Weisses Bräuhaus, etc) - You feel wealthy walking into the lobby during Afternoon Tea - They give you a few packets of their loose tea as a goodbye gift Cons - I booked a Standard Double Room which featured 2 twin beds pulled together with a sizable gap in between and an ancient 13'' TV (perhaps it was bigger, but I was too distracted by the non-flat screen) - The twin sized down comforter felt like I was trying to cover myself with a sealed sleeping bag (it wasn't happening). Their pillows were also brutally soft (I guess its a matter of preference, but its not comfortable when your head deflates the pillow and it feels like you are sleeping with no pillow). - All I wanted to do was exchange my Czech money (its not like I had post Civil War Ugandan Schillings). Czech is a neighboring country! - The bathroom was small and the shower curtain didn't have magnets on the bottom so it tended to cling to you and chase you during the duration of the shower. Cab ride from the train station: €11 Cab ride to the airport: €60

Southern German hospitality, comfort and most of all food and wine is truly an experience. This Kempinski property has a pool, spa and sauna: Clothing optional. Never fear, they sell some suits but you will be stared at for wearing it. The restaurant, room service and lobby service is quiet and mannerly. A little slow but this is Europe. There is discretion. When someone charged their breakfast to me using my room number, the hotel was quick to take the charge off without even a quibble. I would come back to this hotel when doing business again in or around Munich.

We stayed here on the first leg of our trip around Bavaria/Bohemia. The hotel is very near the center of things in Munich, on Maximillianstrasse, "the 5th Avenue of Germany" as one of our tour guides put it. So it is an uncomfortable place to be seen in sandals and a t-shirt when you are surrounded by folks wearing $700 sunglasses and carrying $20,000 handbags. But if you're okay with that, it is very close to the old town, an easy walk to almost anywhere you'd want to go. The hotel lobby is very comfortable to hang out in. We had the breakfast two days, and while not cheap it is very good (and I've never had caviar for breakfast on the buffet). We also had dinner at the hotel and it was exquisite. We did the three course prix fixe, also not cheap, but worth it. Delicious. The rooms were smallish for the money, but seemed well appointed. The shower was ridiculously good. We had two rooms next to one another, which was nice for the kids to be close and something rarely available. We were a long way from the lobby and down some stairs as the hotel is multiple buildings stitched together. Others have noted the bed cover. They do a single duvet with no sheets, and the duvet is smaller than the bed, so we had a king bed but if you both sleep toward the outside of the bed, someone's feet are getting cold. So we had to snuggle in the middle. Not the worst thing, just odd. We adopted a "go out in the morning, then come back and go to the pool" schedule while there. The spa/pool up on the 6th floor was very cool, and a great place to kill a couple of relaxing hours during the heat of the day. The staff up there were awesome and friendly. Overall liked it a lot, and for the money that was expected.

This hotel is far more concerned with making a profit than providing hospitality. We were "nickel and dimed" throughout our visit. The whole experience made me frustrated and angry, and spoiled what should have been a special trip. We have visited Munich many times (one of our favorite cities), and have stayed at the Mandarin Oriental and the Bayerischer Hof, and this hotel was bar far the worst.

Went here for dinner and a drink Oktoberfest week. It was perfect. The drinks were smooth, tasty. The food had great presentation and the service was outstanding. We enjoyed a nice walk in the area after dinner. The area is safe and very high end. We felt very comfortable as tourists there.

Terrible hotel!! Do NOT stay here. This review is being left days after we arrived home so that I would not write it in the heat of anger and so that I could give myself a chance to mellow. After a week I'm still appalled by the horrible service we received at the hotel and I feel that you should be warned. Specifics: we were in room 507. The very first evening we heard banging on the ceiling & a gurgling coming from the shower followed by the terrible stench of a sewer. We called the front desk and we were told that there were offices above us but someone would check on the shower the next day. We had to sleep with the windows wide open to air out the room. The next day the gurgling was still occurring and followed by the awful stench of poop. We called again. Nothing. After FOUR days the "Woman in Red" their management person came to show me another room which was much smaller & facing the busy street. She assured me that they would fix the shower stench so we didn't move. The gurgle/stench remained. In addition, unless you arrive via Lamborghini or Ferrari, don't expect to be greeted by the doormen or lobby staff. They're all too busy ogling the fancy cars parked out front. Finally, the location is not convenient unless you intend to spend all of your time shopping at the "5th Avenue" stores. It's far from any decent restaurant. There are much better hotels closer to Marienplatz, restaurants, & the museums. Kempenski offered to comp one meal at their buffet restaurant "Arabian Nights" but the screeching sitar music coming from the restaurant wasn't something I wanted to experience.

5 stars. hands down kt m. and i's favorite hotel we stayed in on our honeymoon. room service - best i've had. tv - super awesome resolution. shower - not only best in europe - best in universe - touch pad controls - light options - dance party shopwer or chill sower - awesome. everything was touch pad - even the do not distrub thingy. spa? great option - excellent indoor pool (if you fancy a swim). lobby - rediculous. very cool. staff - over the top (in a good way) friendly. munich = kempinski.

We stayed in Kempinski for 3 nights in the New Year week. The hotel is 2 blocks away from Residenz and other tourist sites! There is an underground garage in the hotel and that is a plus if you drive. We had a deluxe room facing Maximilian st. The room is nicely furnished and big enough for my kid's rollaway bed. Breakfast was the best we had in Germany. We ordered the room service twice and ate in Hotel's restaurant another night, and we are satisfied with the food. Overall, it's worth the money, and we will stay here again for our next visit to Munich.

My husband and I are staying here for a few nights as part of a honeymoon trip around Europe. This is definitely the fanciest place we're staying, and it is pretty darned fabulous. Everyone is extremely friendly and helpful, our room service is quick (the apple strudel was excellent and our laundry (picked up after 9am) was back in our room by the time we got back at 3), and the room is just lovely. I could take 3 showers a day with the rain shower head and blue lights. We have a smoking room (for the husband) and the window opens so wide the room never smells of smoke. The TV is mildly temperamental and would pause at odd times during the movie we ordered, but it's still worth 5 stars. I hope to try the tea tomorrow!

To me, super expensive hotels always disappoint. I was here for a week at a seminar. My seat was directly next to door to the Adjacent conference room and the door kept opening. Also, the air conditioning was sparse at best. Remember, this is purportedly a five-star place. Lastly, and very importantly, the bathroom stalls for the conference area did not have extra TP. Often, there was no TPN at all. This is pathetic for any venue, let alone a "five-star hotel. I am very glad I stayed a couple blocks away in a different" hotel. As I'm sure staying here would've made me more irritated that I already was.

Awful hotel. Completely misleading booking process. They use comma's and periods incorrectly on their currency so you think you're getting an upgrade for the typical nominal fee US hotels charge. They charged an extra $3,000 per night for a suite that was worse than our original $4,000 per night room. Staff has a "customer is always wrong" philosophy. They also have a dog running around the lobby 24/7. Maybe it takes a five star crap. If so, it would go well with this hotel.

Is a extremely expensive hotel. Awful room my mom got an allergy because their was mold in the room. great location. awesome breakfest but everything else was bad.
