We are staying at this hotel for a total of 5 days and, unfortunately, are quite disappointed. The service at the reception desk has been very poor and unwelcoming. Upon check-in, we received minimal information regarding procedures and available amenities. the breakfast is every day same and nothings change extremely loud and overcrowded. Room cleanliness is also lacking. The bathroom only has a sliding door, which fails to provide sufficient privacy, allowing sounds to be heard throughout the room. The spa feels more like a children’s playground. Parents are actually bringing their screaming children into the sauna. Any chance for relaxation is completely lost!. Overall, I would not recommend staying here.

We are staying at this hotel for a total of 11 days and, unfortunately, are quite disappointed. The service at the reception desk has been very poor and unwelcoming. Upon check-in, we received minimal information regarding procedures and available amenities. Both the breakfast and dinner buffets are, at best, average, and the dining area is extremely loud and overcrowded. Room cleanliness is also lacking. The bathroom only has a sliding door, which fails to provide sufficient privacy, allowing sounds to be heard throughout the room. The biggest issue, however, is the sink, which has had a clogged drain since day one. When we mentioned this to the front desk, the staff member couldn’t even make a note to inform housekeeping for the following morning. The fact that housekeeping hadn’t noticed or addressed this issue by the fourth day speaks volumes. The spa feels more like a children’s playground. Parents are actually bringing their screaming children into the sauna. Why is this even allowed? Any chance for relaxation is completely lost! On the sixth day, we simply didn’t receive any towels. The cleaning staff took the old ones but didn’t replace them. When you call the front desk, they just hang up right away. Unbelievable. Overall, I would not recommend staying here. This is our second experience with a Vila Galé hotel, but the quality here does not compare to that of Vila Galé in Galé.

Excellent Hotel Resort. The rooms and bathrooms are very spacious and comfortable. The pool area is very large and lovely. There are several restaurants in the hotel. The Italian restaurant was wonderful. The food and the servers were great. Breakfast was elegant and delicious. The hotel bar has nightly entertainment. The beach is located across the street and is very large with beautiful panoramic views. There is also an extensive boardwalk. Excellent location. We would definitely like to come back to this resort.

Unfortunately I must express my dissatisfaction with certain aspects of my stay: Delayed Service: I requested a tea maker for the room, which should have been standard, and it took three days to receive one. This delay was disappointing and inconvenient. Spa Limitations: The spa could only be used for 45 minutes with prior reservations, which was not mentioned beforehand. Additionally, we were informed there was a Turkish bath, but it turned out to be just a steam sauna. Noise Issues: The room was uncomfortably loud due to the flooring material. Every morning, we were awakened by noises from the room above. Despite reporting this to the reception, no action was taken to address the issue. Internet Connectivity: The Wi-Fi was extremely slow and unreliable, which made it nearly unusable. Room Design: The sliding doors for both the bathroom and closet were poorly designed and noisy, adding to the overall discomfort. Breakfast Quality: The breakfast lacked variety, with the same limited options served every day. This did not meet the expectations for a hotel of this standard. Unfortunately, these issues detracted from what should have been a comfortable and enjoyable stay. I hope this feedback helps in improving the experience for future guests.

Beautiful place with outdoor pool and hot tub ( but in the late Fall they weren’t heated). Indoor pool and hot tub were however ( in the spa). Very nice grounds and just across the street from the beach and some beachside dining. Rooms were large by European standards and very quiet and comfortable.

This hotel is idea for a family beach vacation but I would not recommend it for any other guests. The property has no charm or character, the service is very average, there is no concierge, and breakfast is chaotic and not very good at all. The outdoor pool is large and well maintained. The indoor pool and hot-tub area also has a steam room and sauna but is limited to 25 people and is not well maintained. Access to the beach is across the roadway and across the railroad tracks. The rooms are very noisy - you will hear your neighbours talking (and worse!) through the walls. Bedding is very poor quality. The pillows are terrible clumps of polyester fibre. No slippers, no robes, no washcloths, no facial tissue, no coffee in room. No view of the ocean unless you’re on the third floor. Old Town is about 10 minutes drive.

I’m staying at a Vila Galé hotel for the second time, and I’m really disappointed by the Vila Galé Lagos. The check-in was quick, but I didn’t get enough information about the hotel, its services, or what’s available. After searching online and connecting to the hotel Wi-Fi, I was able to find some answers, but both, the initial welcome and the information in the room need improvement. Additionally, the hotel isn’t suitable for guests without children or anyone looking for peace and quiet. It’s noisy everywhere— in the rooms, hallways, during meals, and even in the spa. The spa should be a relaxing place, but it’s quite the opposite. The pool area (including the whirlpool) has been turned into a play area for kids and parents, which creates a lot of noise even in the sauna, steam room, and during massages. I appreciate that the hotel focuses on being family-friendly, but they also need to consider guests who want a little bit of quiet space. On the plus side, the location is close to the beautiful town of Lagos and a wonderful beach. Edit: The hotel has become quieter as it has emptied out over time, but unfortunately, the service has not improved. Despite the lower number of guests, the issues with service remain the same, which shows that the problems are not related to the number of people staying at the hotel. A major issue at this hotel is the staff’s English skills, which are often insufficient. There are frequent misunderstandings and awkward situations because of the language barrier, making even simple requests frustrating. While the hotel is modern and located in a great area, the lack of proper management and attention to guest experience really lets it down. The hotel could be wonderful, but poor communication and mismanagement make it difficult to fully enjoy the stay.

I wouldn’t recommend this hotel. My husband and I just stayed here for 2 days as part of our holiday along the coast, and we got stuck in room 1007. Upon check-in, the guy was saying how “it’s a full house and not a room available”. I realize now he was telling us that because the room we got stuck with was musky smelling and air conditioning wasn’t working. It was the worst night stay along our 2 week vacation. We went to the front desk to say the Air Conditioning wasn’t working, to which they sent a guy and he said oh, this is normal across the entire hotel. The air conditioner is just built this way. So we did a test of it throughout the day and it just got worse. By that evening, we finally got a great front desk person who agreed to give us a different room. We got 3007 and what a concept, the air conditioning was working. Looks like they just have a lazy maintenance crew who didn’t want to work on it. Further to that, the front desk guy saying it was a full house, to try and get us to not complain, clearly knowing that air conditioner wasn’t working. The worst part of it all, waking up in the middle of the night drenched from sweating so much. I don’t recommend this hotel. They clearly don’t care about their guests and they don’t want to fix something that would help their guest feel more comfortable. Stay somewhere else, where you get what you pay for and you have honest staff.

Yelp
This is a first rate hotel! The staff is very friendly and helpful. We included breakfast and it's a great buffet. They clean the rooms every day and are very thorough. All of Portugal is very Covid conscious. No wonder they're very safe!

Yelp
With so many highs and lows at Vile Galé, I'm really torn with the star rating on this one. I'll describe my experience below and let you decide, regardless of the stars given... The Good: * The lobby, pool, buffet, bar and spa area are super nice * Many of, if not all, the staff were multilingual * Excellent facilities. There was a beach volleyball court, tennis court, indoor/outdoor pools, kids pool area, adequate gym, spa, etc. * Room and in-room wifi were solid The Eh: * Beach was across a street, then across rr tracks :-/ * Pool was frigid * One pool towel given per room, which had to be picked up/returned at the spa * The room and hallway color scheme was odd for a beach resort. I know this is strange to say, but an all black hallway and then blood red accents is just weird. Check the pics. * Electricity would turn off when you left the room. Charging electronics and keeping the room cool didn't happen * Bit of an older crowd (avg age 50+) The Bad: * The food. Wow was this poor. The pool bar had some of the worst food of my vacation.. and I got a salad and a turkey wrap aka things that are tough to fudge up. Breakfast (included with my room) was OK, but things were grossly undercooked and the most plentiful items were lunch meats (weird). Lunch/dinner should be a hard pass unless you enjoy a nice mix of bland meats and rice * No free water anywhere. Not in the lobby, gym, by the pool... Nowhere. Dropping 3-5 euro each time you want water is nuts. Considering they warn you not to drink the tap water, there should be other options available besides bottled water. The beer and wine is actually cheaper * No small towels available at/for the gym. Though there's a big sign on the wall to wipe down after you use a machine, I was instructed to bring down a room towel to do so. Double weird considering the gym is in the spa, which is FULL of towels. * The mini bar shouldn't be called a bar. It's a little fridge with 3 waters in it. So, it's a mixed bag here. Many of the problems above are easy to fix, so maybe changes will be made soon. Overall, come here if you have a family and want an all-inclusive experience in the area and don't really care to try the local cuisine. Don't come here as a solo traveler who likes to explore.

Yelp
Good location, about a 30 minute walk from downtown (or a 5 minute taxi ride for 7 Euros). Great pool area. Pool temperature was fine during August, might be cold during other months since pool seemed to not be heated. Great separate mini-waterslide pool just for kids (up to about age 10 would find these fun). Also a zip-line for kids. The beach across the street and train track (easy and safe to cross) was really nice. The beach restaurant (the one directly across from the Atlantico restaurant) was the best in the area. More than half the guests have kids. It feels like a family/kids resort, which was great for us. I wouldn't come here in the summer without kids unless you really like other people's kids. We didn't use the Club Nep kids club (located in a separate area of resort) because there was too much fun happening in the main pool. I didn't see any other families using it either. If anyone was using it, it was only for the youngest children (maybe up to age 5). About 50% of the guests speak English natively, all from England (we didn't meet any other Americans over an entire week). Free wifi internet, nice safes and refrigerators in the rooms. If you don't splurge for pool view, ask for a room facing town which is just as nice. Housekeeping is a disaster. Room was cleaned poorly. Breakfast is good but very crowded. I recommend eating lunch and dinner at restaurants. I heard lots of complaints from guests that had paid for full-board plans that included lunch and dinner. The decor at the hotel is very strange. Lots of dark red colors that clash horribly with the sunlight at a beach hotel.

Yelp
Didn't made reservations eventually they have rooms. I had problem my room wasn't ready I have to wait 15 minutes but get longer then expected so they gave to me other room. The waiting period was almost an hour other then was good

Yelp
Great service and nicely priced lodging that's close to the train station. The staff is extremely friendly and will provide you whatever you need to make your stay convenient. The fact that wine comes free with dinner is a good deal for anyone who is coming here during off peak season.

Yelp
great hotel! very modern and clean. we stayed here for the one night we were in Lagos. the room was awesome and had a ocean view. the staff was great. they even have parking which was free if you dont park in the garage!

Yelp
The hotel itself is good but bad service. They have a listing on booking.com where people up to the age of 17 are children's but when you get to the hotel they will say that children only go up to the age of 12. This means they will charge you extra dispite the cost guarantee on booking.com. Then we called booking.com to complain and they called Vila gale to complain. Next booking.com told us that the extra cost was "extra fees" which was a lie. Overall the hotel is nice but the management are scammers and crap human beings.
