Just back from 8 days at this hotel with friends and family. I was very pleasantly surprised. This is the first time we have done bed and breakfast so we were free to roam and eat in the hotel as well as outside. We had a great time and ventured out and about lots. We were invited to share our feedback about our experiences with the hotel’s management over a drink towards the end of our stay. Pedro was very attentive and listened carefully to what we had to say as well as explaining why some things were as they were. The hotel is exceptionally well maintained and the staff are so friendly and helpful. I will definitely be going back. Thank you

We loved this hotel! The location was perfect, to the town, but nice and quiet. Just a short walk to the marina, bars, and restaurants. The pool was amazing, so peaceful and relaxing every time we went. Breakfast was great too, with plenty of choices. Everything was just excellent. We really enjoyed our stay and would 100% recommend it!

I'd read all the reviews before booking, so arrived with some trepidation. However, having just spent a week at Vila Gale Lagos, I feel we have a fairly balanced view of the hotel.|For context, we are a family of 4 with teenage kids from the UK, and we thought the hotel was excellent.|The rooms were a decent size with good air-con and excellent showers. Despite being busy, the breakfast buffet was continually well-stocked and tables constantly being cleaned. The huge pool area was fabulous - we got 4 loungers and used the pool bar for lunch every day. The main bar/lounge was good and we enjoyed playing pool a few times.|We were on a B&B booking and enjoyed going into Lagos most nights for dinner (easy and lovely 20-min walk along the beach or a $5 uber). The whole area felt very friendly, safe and hassle-free. |All staff were friendly and we would certainly recommend this hotel to others. Away from the noise of town, amazing pool and very clean.

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL. I cannot express how truly awful this hotel is. It is filled with screaming children running around unsupervised. The rooms were dirty with molds and mildew growing in the shower. We placed a reservation for a room with a king bed but it turned out to just be two twin beds pushed together that constantly slid apart. The walls were paper thin and we could hear everything people on both sides were saying even when they talked at a normal level. We ended up checking out early after only one night because we had such an awful experience, and the receptionist at the front desk assured us we would be refunded for the nights we did not stay. Well they are now refusing the refund our money. This company is a bunch of scammers. Worst hotel I've ever stayed at.

First of all, my compliments to the housekeeper Isabel on the second floor. I have never experienced such warmth and good service before! The staff is friendly and the hotel is clean. The breakfast is very much based on the traditional British breakfast, which personally I’m not a fan of — but unfortunately that’s the case in almost all hotels in Southern Europe. The bar is also on the expensive side. The Portuguese restaurant in the hotel isn’t bad, but I had tastier food at the harbor nearby. Additionally, I was initially assigned a child’s bed as an adult, although after asking several times, they did eventually replace the mattress with a much more comfortable one. The hotel is definitely recommended if you're traveling with (young) children who enjoy making holiday friends by the pool and if you’re looking for a British-oriented cuisine.

This is a nice hotel. The waitstaff at the pizzeria are fabulous and so was the food. We had assorted appetizers and the squid ink pasta with mussels.|The breakfast buffet was also wonderful- omelets made to order, brewed coffee and fresh fruits. |Unfortunately, this is where my review changes- our room. Upon arrival it was 34 degrees Celsius. Our air conditioning did not work and our room was a sauna. Thankfully the staff fixed this issue while we went out.|What they could not fix was the odor. The room had an intense smell of a floral deodorizer. I have breathing issues and had trouble breathing. My husband gets headaches from certain scents and it made him sick. Staff refused to acknowledge this problem and said we were making it up. Really? Calling us liars did not go well. |Finally, they offered us a room, but it had a single bed and there are 2 of us! Ok, they would bring something else on which to sleep- but, the room was very small and we paid for a better quality room. |As such, we opened the patio door and slept with it open all night to dispel the smell. Today it is ok.

First night here and already the worst hotel experience of my life. Yes, the pool looks nice — but that’s the beginning and end of anything worth mentioning. • Dinner? Absolutely awful. Apart from the grilled meats, everything was tasteless. Even plain table water is charged extra, despite being on half board. • No iron in the rooms, but they’re quick to shove the overpriced laundry service list under your nose. • “Kids’ area” is a joke. The structures are there but dead — dry slides, and “activities” crammed inside the bar with a sound system straight out of a nightmare. • Smiles? Probably an extra charge too. And this is only night one… after driving more than 2,000 km to get here. Never again.

Great hotel, we came half board but upgraded to all inclusive, the food quality and choice for drinks and food is really good. We came as a large family and all of us (11) have had a great holiday here. Not a single issue with the hotel and I’m usually quite fussy.

Yelp
This is a first rate hotel! The staff is very friendly and helpful. We included breakfast and it's a great buffet. They clean the rooms every day and are very thorough. All of Portugal is very Covid conscious. No wonder they're very safe!

Yelp
With so many highs and lows at Vile Galé, I'm really torn with the star rating on this one. I'll describe my experience below and let you decide, regardless of the stars given... The Good: * The lobby, pool, buffet, bar and spa area are super nice * Many of, if not all, the staff were multilingual * Excellent facilities. There was a beach volleyball court, tennis court, indoor/outdoor pools, kids pool area, adequate gym, spa, etc. * Room and in-room wifi were solid The Eh: * Beach was across a street, then across rr tracks :-/ * Pool was frigid * One pool towel given per room, which had to be picked up/returned at the spa * The room and hallway color scheme was odd for a beach resort. I know this is strange to say, but an all black hallway and then blood red accents is just weird. Check the pics. * Electricity would turn off when you left the room. Charging electronics and keeping the room cool didn't happen * Bit of an older crowd (avg age 50+) The Bad: * The food. Wow was this poor. The pool bar had some of the worst food of my vacation.. and I got a salad and a turkey wrap aka things that are tough to fudge up. Breakfast (included with my room) was OK, but things were grossly undercooked and the most plentiful items were lunch meats (weird). Lunch/dinner should be a hard pass unless you enjoy a nice mix of bland meats and rice * No free water anywhere. Not in the lobby, gym, by the pool... Nowhere. Dropping 3-5 euro each time you want water is nuts. Considering they warn you not to drink the tap water, there should be other options available besides bottled water. The beer and wine is actually cheaper * No small towels available at/for the gym. Though there's a big sign on the wall to wipe down after you use a machine, I was instructed to bring down a room towel to do so. Double weird considering the gym is in the spa, which is FULL of towels. * The mini bar shouldn't be called a bar. It's a little fridge with 3 waters in it. So, it's a mixed bag here. Many of the problems above are easy to fix, so maybe changes will be made soon. Overall, come here if you have a family and want an all-inclusive experience in the area and don't really care to try the local cuisine. Don't come here as a solo traveler who likes to explore.

Yelp
Good location, about a 30 minute walk from downtown (or a 5 minute taxi ride for 7 Euros). Great pool area. Pool temperature was fine during August, might be cold during other months since pool seemed to not be heated. Great separate mini-waterslide pool just for kids (up to about age 10 would find these fun). Also a zip-line for kids. The beach across the street and train track (easy and safe to cross) was really nice. The beach restaurant (the one directly across from the Atlantico restaurant) was the best in the area. More than half the guests have kids. It feels like a family/kids resort, which was great for us. I wouldn't come here in the summer without kids unless you really like other people's kids. We didn't use the Club Nep kids club (located in a separate area of resort) because there was too much fun happening in the main pool. I didn't see any other families using it either. If anyone was using it, it was only for the youngest children (maybe up to age 5). About 50% of the guests speak English natively, all from England (we didn't meet any other Americans over an entire week). Free wifi internet, nice safes and refrigerators in the rooms. If you don't splurge for pool view, ask for a room facing town which is just as nice. Housekeeping is a disaster. Room was cleaned poorly. Breakfast is good but very crowded. I recommend eating lunch and dinner at restaurants. I heard lots of complaints from guests that had paid for full-board plans that included lunch and dinner. The decor at the hotel is very strange. Lots of dark red colors that clash horribly with the sunlight at a beach hotel.

Yelp
Didn't made reservations eventually they have rooms. I had problem my room wasn't ready I have to wait 15 minutes but get longer then expected so they gave to me other room. The waiting period was almost an hour other then was good

Yelp
Great service and nicely priced lodging that's close to the train station. The staff is extremely friendly and will provide you whatever you need to make your stay convenient. The fact that wine comes free with dinner is a good deal for anyone who is coming here during off peak season.

Yelp
great hotel! very modern and clean. we stayed here for the one night we were in Lagos. the room was awesome and had a ocean view. the staff was great. they even have parking which was free if you dont park in the garage!

Yelp
The hotel itself is good but bad service. They have a listing on booking.com where people up to the age of 17 are children's but when you get to the hotel they will say that children only go up to the age of 12. This means they will charge you extra dispite the cost guarantee on booking.com. Then we called booking.com to complain and they called Vila gale to complain. Next booking.com told us that the extra cost was "extra fees" which was a lie. Overall the hotel is nice but the management are scammers and crap human beings.
