Yelp
Hotel Aurora was absolutely the highlight of our two-week Italy trip, accommodations-wise!
I'm a huge water junkie and they kept me very busy and happy with all the complimentary lake activities (paddleboarding, kayaking, water trampoline, small inflatable waterslide) and the paid-for fun (I went waterskiing twice for 3 Euro per minute -- average of $20 US per quick trip and so worth it to me for the amazing time with such a beautiful backdrop). My husband was super content to lounge in a chaise lounger for two days straight enjoying his book and the incredible Lake Como views while I played myself silly.
Bike rentals are complimentary for guests, too, and you're welcome to stick around for the full day that you check out and even use showers in their boat house to tidy up after your lake day. It would take about 45 minutes to an hour to cycle into Bellagio if you fancied it (those curvy and slender Italian roads scare me so I drove in -- took less than 15 minutes and it was easy to find parking). I would so highly recommend staying at this peaceful oasis as opposed to finding accommodations in the much more crowded cities of Bellagio or Como (unless you're into to crowding).
From the moment we arrived to the second we left, the customer service and warm welcome blew us away. This business has been in the same family since it opened in the '50s and much of the staff is part of this family and that pride in ownership is so absolutely evident. All the staff we encountered were incredibly welcoming, spoke perfect English, and clearly had hospitality running through their veins.
We ate all our meals at the incredible restaurant on site and were delighted by every single bite. We'd highly recommend the whitefish pate starter (or splurge on the seafood starter that includes about 8 different small seafood nibbles including the pate), the perch risotto (as with most Italian restaurants, they require at least 2 people order the risotto at once due to the involved preparation -- my husband and I both loved it and the portions were very generous), and the trifecta of mini desserts (tiramisu, panna cotta, and something scrumptiously straberrylicious).
We had a mountain view room but we got a peek at the lake-view ones -- WOW! We'll be sure to pay for the upgrade when -- not if -- we return
A perfect visit!
