Hotel Villa Carlotta, Taormina, Sicily - Explore & Book

"Taormina has been a top tourist attraction for well over a century, and its lavish charms mean that it's likely to stay that way. Some hotels might be content to rest on the town’s laurels, but Villa Carlotta - built as an aristocratic family residence - treats guests as if they're friends of friends, and attention is paid to every aspect of your stay. You'll find classy but not over-fancy rooms and suites plus 4 newer apartments a short stroll away; it's a small hotel by Taormina's standards, with a lush garden and a bijou pool terraced above the rose-coloured tiles of an ancient chapel. Interiors pay homage to both Sicilian and Florentine heritage - think classical motifs and wrought iron balconies - while placing a premium on comfort. Delectable meals are enjoyed in the rooftop restaurant and dining terrace, which has fabulous 270-degree views from Etna round to the Calabrian coast; a sumptuous daily buffet sets the gold standard for breakfasts. The town's Greek amphitheatre, bustling centre and twin coves are within walking distance, and Mt Etna is a short drive away. Highs Splendidly sited above the sea among abundant subtropical vegetation, this hotel could not be anywhere other than Taormina Roof terrace with spectacular views of Mt Etna and the sea by day, and candlelit at night for a quiet aperitif or a romantic meal Rooms have small balconies with sea views or terraces overlooking the garden Witty attention to detail in the décor The hotel has partnerships with local beach clubs and can arrange a day at the beach, including shuttle bus, for a charge Lows Not cheap - but worth every euro Availability is a problem in high season, so book ahead Located on the corner of a relatively busy road, though we didn't hear any traffic noise The exposed catacombs on the ground floor aren't everyone's cup of tea, although they have been incorporated into a stylish lounge area Candles in the public spaces weren't lit at night when we visited No on-site parking, but valet parking is available for a daily charge" - Ros Belford

"Overlooking the Ionian Sea and Mount Etna from its hillside spot in Taormina, Hotel Villa Carlotta feels like an elegant Sicilian hideaway with the warmth of a well-loved home. Run by the Quartucci family, who have been welcoming guests to the region for decades, the 19th-century villa has 28 rooms, suites, apartments and a private villa, each designed with handpicked antiques, breezy colors and thoughtful comforts. Many come with a balcony or terrace for uninterrupted sea views. Days begin with a generous breakfast on the rooftop and wind down with Sicilian dinners under the stars. Gardens, a pool, and thoughtful service round out this glamorous stay." - Tablet Hotels

Fantastic hotel. Felt very Sicilian authentic and loved the vibe and decor a lot. Staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating. The roof top restaurant was a cool vibe and we had a good meal one night for dinner. Great views of the water and only a short 10-12 minute walk to town and all the restaurants and action. Be sure to walk through the garden/park on your way. It is beautiful. Would stay here again for sure. Really enjoyed it quite a bit.

Wonderful stay - they helped me with all of our reservations (and changes!) leading up to the trip - both beach and dining. Great advice and recommendations. Two rooms worked very well for my family of 5 and I loved being walking distance to town. They were incredibly accommodating onsite with every single thing. We ate there daily for breakfast which was delicious, and the Euphoria lounge up top has beautiful views. We can’t wait to return.

Hands down one of the best hotel experiences I've ever had! The property was unique, beautiful, and extremely well maintained. Location to downtown Taormina was a huge advantage. It took us about 10 minutes to get to the shopping, Greek theater, and other attractions. Service at the hotel was outstanding and the restaurant at the top was excellent and had panoramic views. Highly recommend!

We only had two days in Taormina so this was the perfect location to walk to the town or get a shuttle to the beach. It is a beautiful hotel with spacious well equipped rooms. All the staff were very welcoming and provided an excellent level of service. The breakfasts were delicious. We had a wonderful meal with spectacular views at Incanto Restaurant at the Hotel Villa Ducale which is part of the same hotel group in Taormina. Again, we received a very warm welcome from the staff and the owner.

Hotel Villa Carlotta – Taormina A true boutique gem in Taormina. The location is perfect — walking distance from the center, yet tucked away enough to enjoy peace and stunning views of the sea and the city. The villa is full of authentic Sicilian charm. I loved the rich, warm colors and traditional touches throughout — you feel the soul of Sicily in every detail. The Etro amenities were such a surprise! One of my personal favorite brands — both for me, my husband, and our home (the diffusers are by far the best). First time trying their hair and body line… wow. Luxurious and fresh, it elevated the whole experience. The Euphoria Restaurant is absolutely impeccable. From the atmosphere to the refined dishes, everything was beautifully executed. Elegant, relaxed, and delicious — a perfect complement to the hotel. Highly recommended for those looking for charm, quality, and that extra special something.

We couldn’t have been happier with our stay! From the moment we arrived, the hotel staff went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, everyone was incredibly polite, attentive, and accommodating. A special shout-out to Stefano, whose exceptional service and genuine hospitality truly made our experience unforgettable.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay – the staff, especially the reception team, were exceptionally friendly and helpful. The breakfast buffet was excellent, featuring fresh produce and a variety of daily sweets. The pool area was spacious, offering plenty of spots to unwind and soak up the sun. My recommendation: value for money, given the price point, complimentary bottled water in the room and inclusion of the à la carte breakfast would be appreciated. Would definitely return and recommend this hotel.

My fiancé and I stayed here in August, which is peak tourist season and the hotel staff was so helpful, helped book all of our transport and food reservations, had great recommendations, and were so nice even when we arrived after a long journey completely jet lag and we probably didn’t appear so friendly . Rooms were quiet and clean. Easy walk to the action of town.

Yelp
We were in Taormina and wanted a restaurant close to our Hotel Bel Soggiorno. The Villa Carlotta was the perfect location. The hotel interior is very charming and tastefully decorated. We went to the rooftop restaurant. We were greeted by Luigi and given a wonderful table with a view of the Ionic and the full moon. We chose the fish croquettes as our appetizer. They were outstanding, and so delicious. I had the baby lamb chops as my entree, delicious. Our friend chose the pasta with Lamb Ragu which was outstanding. We then chose the desserts, all works of art and so delicious. The wait staff could not be accommodating, my wife wanted a French 75 which they made for her. I am recommending this as a must go restaurant in Taormina.

Yelp
I did not stay here, only came for dinner on the rooftop, which was just amazing. The views are spectacular. The food amazing, the drinks inventive, the service exceptional. Came here with a group and everyone really enjoyed their dishes. I had been in Taormina for a few days and was on the hunt for the best cannolo. We went here on our last night and at last, the best cannolo I had on my trip. Highly recommend dinner here.

Yelp
Perfect Town and Perfect hotel. Short, easy walk (through a lovely park) to the shops and restaurants, but no noise from the streets below. Charming, comfortable rooms for a good night's sleep. Delicious breakfast, lunch, and dinner (we tried each when not stopping at local restaurants for pasta and pizza.) Lovely gardens and pool. The reception and dining room staffs (Alberto, Sachi, Luigi, Grace, Stafano, and Simone) were all just wonderful--so friendly and helpful! We will definitely recommend this hilltop village and this hotel to our friends!

Yelp
We have returned from a wonderful week in Taormina. I highly recommend Villa Carlotta. It is a small boutique hotel that also has a few very nearby apartments available. We chose to stay in Apartment #3 w/rooftop terrace. It has a gorgeous view. The apartment is fully equipped, including a washer:dryer combo. Our housekeepers were Patrizia and Enza. They kept the apartment spotless and were available for whatever assistance we needed. Ajith handled our both our arrival and departure. He was knowledgeable, prompt and attentive. Likewise for the other Front Desk staff we encountered; Olga, Simona & Riccardo. The breakfast buffet is served in the roof-top restaurant. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. The selection is extravagant and has something for everyone. We ate only one dinner at the hotel. It is served in the same top-floor space as the breakfast. The linguine w/clams and mussels entree was spectacular and included a lot of fresh clams and mussels. The ingredients were excellent and fresh. The chef & staff excel at their craft. Shevyn was our server and he was prompt, attentive and knowledgeable. We enjoyed late afternoon drinks in the same roof-top space. Giulia was a delight. Her wine recommendations never failed to delight us. Will we return? Absolutely, yes!

Yelp
Alessandro and Stefano and the ladies at the lobby were the most helpful. You cannot get better service. The views are amazing and the rooms are huge for euro size. We've had first class treatment the entire stay. Come with a loved one or a small group and you can have the best time. Everything is catered.

Yelp
It started with a phone call from staff member Simona in response to my reservation. Yes, she called my US number to explain that while the hotel was closed in December they would accommodate us in one of their luxury apartments. I was somewhat disappointed because I had made my reservations based on the fabulous reviews and images of Hotel Villa Carlotta. BUT WE WERE TO EXPERIENCE THIS HOTEL AND STAFF IN AMAZING WAYS .. I asked Simona to leave some fruit, bread and milk in the apartment because we were arriving late at night. She agreed. She also volunteered to arrange an airport transfer though we had a car rental organized. We agreed and cancelled our car rental. This turned out to be a trip fraught with mishaps, WITH VILLA CARLOTTA BEING OUR BASTION OF SECURITY. Alitalia's system bumped us off their flight to Catania however we managed to book ourselves for the next day. We called Ricardo at Villa Carlotta to explain the change, no problem, they would arrange the airport transfer for the next day. Wonderful Sr. Maurizio picked us up and took us to the hotel, we met Simona and the owner Andrea Quartucci. We were told that we had reserved the larger apartment but had a choice between that and the top floor apartment with a terrace. (Sr. Quartucci described it as a "love nest".) When we saw the 2 apartments, it was no-brainer .. the larger apartment was luxurious but we loved the view and the terrace of the top-floor apartment. In the apartment .. not only had they overstocked the fridge with breakfast food and Christmas treats but there was no charge! In addition, Simona and Ricardo were available almost 24/7 to answer our queries and help with planning excursions. The last mishap on this trip had to do with the Mount Etna eruptions and the fact that the airport at Catania was closed at the time of our departure. Ricardo helped us connect with a travel agent, had Sr. Maurizio bring us back to Taormina from Catania, gave us our apartment for another night (at half cost!) What else might I add? Not only is the property fabulous but the staff is so caring and attentive! Both my husband and I are frequent travellers and we both agreed that neither of us has had such a superlative hotel stay in at least a decade. Room Tip: If choosing one of the apartments, know that they are all gorgeous. See more room tips

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went here in March 2014. While that was almost 1 year ago, it's a place we fondly look back on and feel compelled to let others know about. This is 1 of 2 hotels that my boyfriend and I use to compare other lodging experiences. We have travelled all around the world to high-end hotels and this is bar far one of the best places in the world. Such great service from the staff. This was our first stop in Italy after flying from the US. We arrived between their lunch and dinner time, but they opened their dining area, offered us prosecco and were able to order a pizza. This was while overlooking spectacular views of Mt. Etna and Isola Bella. Also, their breakfast was consistently amazing, never overcrowded on their balcony. I forgot how, but we also had the option of staying at one of their luxury apartments. The luxury apartment was gorgeous, spacious (walk-in closet, massive bathroom, kitchen), and slightly closer to town, but we opted to stay directly in the hotel in a room with a terrace. We were only in town for a few days and didn't need the amenities of an apartment and preferred the convenience to their breakfast and service provided within the hotel. The terrace was able to comfortably accommodate a small circular table with chairs, and a couple of lounge chairs with plenty of room to spare. Also, the view from the terrace was spectacular - it overlooked the water surrounding Isola Bella. The one small suggestion I would have is that sometimes it would get warm in the room, so we would open the door to the terrace. It never happened, but I always feared that a cat would walk in as I saw one or two around the property. If there was a screened door, someone could enjoy the breeze while still keeping out any potential unwanted guests in any shape or form. Again, about the service - the staff had great recommendations from food to excursions! Before heading off to tour Mt. Etna, a woman at the front desk told us the best way to get there on a map and suggestions of what to do in the area. She ended up coordinating a tasting with the Gambino Family Winery while we set out for our Mt. Etna trip (both were amazing experiences!). The staff also happily brought more bottles of Acqua Panna water for my boyfriend who continually drinks water no matter what. Overall, fantastic hotel! Because of them, we always fondly look back on our amazing trip to Sicily and can't wait to return.
