Hotel Villa Colonial

My husband and I celebrated our 30th Anniversary in the DR. Although I love Santo Domingo, the main reason we chose this over another island was Hotel Villa Colonial. The personalized service, amazing staff, location, and beautiful space make it my favorite hotel.||From our airport pickup to transfer to and from Las Terrenas, Ramon arranged everything we needed for a relaxing stay.|The same driver who picked us up on previous trip was waiting for us at the airport arrivals. (We took the van from the priority arrivals to the main arrivals.) Upon arrival we found a tray of vegan snacks in our suite. Not only was this a treat after a long travel day, but I was amazed at the personal attention to detail. (I am vegan!)||We stayed in the superior room with a lovely, private terrace. They always reserve this room for us- which is a nice touch. If it is in your budget, I highly recommend this room for the outdoor space. Everything is clean and comfortable. There are cozy bath and pool towels as well as bath products. The mini fridge has cold drinks and there is a coffee maker in the room. The ac is quiet and cooling which is appreciated after a long day in the city. It is also a treat to spend the afternoons at the pool. It is small but refreshing and very tranquil. The grounds are lush and peaceful and make you forget you are in the city.||The breakfast goes above and beyond any included breakfast I have experienced. Again, knowing I am vegan, they offered modifications such as olive oil rather than butter, avocado for avocado toast, and fresh made mango smoothies. The house made granola is delicious and they offer two non dairy milk options. My husband is not vegan and tried a few of the multiple egg options. The choices went beyond "fried or scrambled" and each was an individually made dish with fresh ingredients. We didn't try the sweet options, but they were also available in addition to fresh fruits and juices.||Ramon suggested the hotel we chose in Las Terrenas on a previous visit. It was a great choice for us. He also arranged our transfer there and our return airport transfer. (I hadn't expected that and was so grateful that we didn't have to figure that out.)||The staff is welcoming and friendly, and is happy to offer an extra cup of coffee or a suggestion for things to do. We appreciated chatting with the front desk staff when we came or went and appreciated that they remembered us from previous trips.||We can't wait to go back!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ The best hotel ever! Hotel Villa Colonial is an absolute gem — truly one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever stayed. The moment you walk in, you feel the calm and charm of the colonial atmosphere. Every corner is beautifully designed with such taste and attention to detail. My room was spotless, cozy, and full of character — the perfect mix of comfort and style. The whole place feels like a peaceful oasis in the heart of Santo Domingo. The courtyard and little pool are simply magical, and the breakfast… wow. Fresh, homemade, delicious — you can feel the love in every bite. The staff are warm, kind, and genuinely caring, which makes the whole experience unforgettable. The location is perfect too — right in the Zona Colonial, yet quiet and relaxing. I’ve stayed in many hotels, but this one stands out above them all. Everything here feels special. Would 1000% recomend!

I only had one night at this hotel, but I wish I had booked more nights. The room and facility in general was beyond clean and spotless. The staff, specifically Ramon, Jordan, and the night person were extremely accommodating and kind. Also the breakfast was EXCELLENTE!! Omg the French toast was crazy delicious. Don’t even think, just book. 10/10 stay.

Beautiful place to stay in Santo Domingo! The architecture is stunning and unique. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. The delicious breakfast was the cherry on top!

I stayed 3 nights in this hotel, before and after my Trip to haiti. Excellent breakfast, lovely Rooms in historical building and nice Personal. Loved it!

Best boutique hotel in Santo Domingo by far. The service is more than amazing. A special thank to Jordan at the reception for his hospitality and service. As well as to the chef who cooked the best breakfast we ever had. Hope to come back soon

A brilliant hotel to explore Santo Domingo from. The rooms are quiet and cool with both AC and a fan for whatever your preference is. We slept very well on the comfortable beds and pillows. The team are fantastic and organised an early check in, a drink by the pool and transfers for us. Would definitely class as a hotel which gives to you rather than just a transactional stay. See comments below on the beautiful breakfast.

Our second stay at Hotel Villa Colonial and certainly not our last.||Ramon and his team were---once again--- on the spot in all regards.||Although there are many updates taking place in the Colonial Zone at the moment; none have in obstructed the street Hotel Villa Colonial is on. The street and, of course, this perfect little hotel remain tranquil.||And the work being done in the Zone is being performed with great attention to pedestrian comfort and safety. We were able to do our usual walks throughout the Zone discovering some new restaurants, shops and places to do more urban birding. ||We enjoy these walks and what we see, but the best part is returning to our pristine room and the warm and welcoming service by all the staff.||We are so comfortable in HVC that we call it our "home away from home".
