Villa Condesa, Mexico City, Mexico - Explore & Book

"The Condesa neighbourhood is named after the Countess of Miravalle, an 18th-century noblewoman whose lands extended throughout this exclusive corner of Mexico City. Villa Condesa was one of many elegant mansions along the area's tree-lined boulevards that lay neglected as aristocratic families squabbled over inheritance - until the Nava family came to the rescue. Homero, a broadcast journalist, and his Nicaraguan wife Daisy (with a little help from their 2 teenage sons) spent 3 years renovating the building until its recent reincarnation as a chic, 13-room boutique hotel. Exterior structures like the wrought-iron entrance gate and creamy white portico with its stone columns and carvings were kept. Inside, bamboo plants now reach up to glass-and-steel skylights and modern art graces muted walls of mauve.Despite its cool makeover, the hotel has a warm ambiance - on arrival you'll be greeted by at least one of the Nava family, who will help with your luggage then set down a frosty Corona for you in the stylish interior courtyard that doubles as a dining terrace. A perfect fit into this fashionable barrio of smart bars and upscale restaurants, Villa Condesa fits even more pleasantly around its guests. Highs Tranquil atmosphere of a cultured home rather than a show hotel Thoughtful touches like bowls of fruit and umbrellas throughout the house; free bikes to borrow The cheery red kitchen is open to guests if you fancy a cup of tea or popping in a laundry loadSmall but professional staff of family and friends so service is always personal and smileySafe, quiet and very attractive neighbourhood Lows No restaurant per se, more an open-air dining terrace that offers breakfast, lunch and supper on a small scaleLimited car parking on the street but you're just a 5-minute walk to the nearest Metro station No swimming pool or spa" - Glenda Richards

The 5 Best Hotels in Mexico City (Updated 2025)

"This boutique property in Condesa, housed in a 19th-century mansion, feels as leafy and stylish as the neighborhood and boasts a cool interior courtyard that’s a calm oasis in the city; a complimentary breakfast is served every morning (definitely try the chilaquiles and the huevos rancheros). With only fifteen spacious and comfortable suites, each different—some brightly decorated, others stately with antique furniture and hardwood floors—and some with balconies, it feels very homey and the staff are friendly and welcoming. All rooms come with a flatscreen TV and a desk, and the bathrooms, though a bit small, include complimentary toiletries and plush bathrobes, making this ideal for a quiet stay in one of Mexico City’s best neighborhoods." - Matthew Kepnes

We just got back from a four-night stay. We were so happy staying at gorgeous Hotel Villa Condesa! The location was perfect for walking about, in a beautiful neighborhood. The breakfast served daily was delicious. Our room was clean and comfortable. We loved the firm mattress and had plenty of toiletries. The hotel was like a serene, private residence: quiet and peaceful day and night, in the midst of a busy city. The staff was friendly and helpful. I would 100% stay here on a return trip. A new favorite hotel!

What can I say but perfect? Perfect location, perfect rooms, perfect (included) breakfast, perfect service. This place is a huge part of what made our Mexico City trip so wonderful. Everyone is so lovely and accommodating. We were running late on our last day before heading to the airport, and the kitchen staff still made us breakfast! This place is truly the best (and the bun + guava jam is to die for!!)

The hotel was beautiful and serene. The service was great. Great rooms, 3 out of the 4 we reserved included balconies. The hotel entrance was secure and 24 hours. |The breakfast choices made everyone happy. The hotel kitchen did have drinks (soda beer wine liquors) and food available for purchase till 9pm. Location was great! We stayed four night and hated to leave.

This is a clean, quiet, well staffed oasis in Mexico City! We stayed 8 nights and absolutely recommend HVC. The property has 24 hr staff, a delicious breakfast, and a private guest only garden. The hotel is secure and located in a lovely colonial building. Would definitely be a must for solo travellers and couples.

Perfect hotel! Location, staff, garden, breakfast, it's all top notch. Comfy bed, 24 hour staff, and great L'Occitan products in the bathroom. One of the best hotels I've ever stayed at.

The location is excellent, and the decoration is beautiful. However, the rooms and bathrooms are quite small, and there are no elevators, which may be inconvenient for some guests. The biggest challenge for me was the mattress—it felt like sleeping on a rock and was so firm it caused back pain and interrupted my sleep. Toiletries were also very limited; the small, tiny bottle of shampoo provided wasn’t enough for me and my wife, and when I requested more, I was told only one bottle per day was allowed.

I have been staying at Hotel Villa Condesa since 2018 whenever I am in Mexico City. It is a hidden gem with 15 rooms in a classical/ remodelled villa from the early 1900. Beautifully appointed with terraces, gardens as public spaces as well as very diverse breakfast menu ( breakfast is included) with full restaurant services. Rooms are on the smaller size but have great beds, nice linens, bedside tables, lamps and desk with chairs. Hot water is plentiful. Rooms and bathrooms are serviced daily. The hotel is ULTRA QUIET and safe, has a dedicated concierge, room service and overall very friendly staff always willing to help. Perfect hotel for women travelling alone, the neighborhood has many restaurants and cafes walking distance away as well as a park nearby. The very personable and friendly owners check in on a regular basis. I highly recommend Villa Condesa as your home away from home when in Mexico City 😊

We booked two rooms here for two stays while in Mexico. For 3 nights before we left for a side trip to Michoacan and for 3 nights when we returned. We requested two deluxe rooms on an upper floor at the back of the hotel (quieter) and were told that these had been reserved for us and that we would have the same rooms for both stays. When we arrived, we were given two very nice rooms, 11 and 12. 12 was larger, but 11 had a nicer balcony. We were pleased with both, as well as with the hotel overall. There are several areas to hang out and the breakfasts were very nice--plentiful food served in a lovely garden setting. When we left for Michoacan we confirmed that these would be the rooms we would be put in when we returned. However, when we returned we were told only one of them was available, room 11 and that we would be given room 7, which was at the front of the hotel and considerably smaller than the other rooms (with a very small bathroom). My friend who is in her late 70s was given this room and the bathtub/shower was less than optimal for an older person since water sprayed on the floor and made for a dangerous situation. She questioned whether this was really a deluxe room and the response was that all rooms are different and this one was on the smaller and less luxurious side. Apart from this one debaucle, this was a lovely stay and I would have given a 5 star review had our rooms not been switched. The location of the hotel was excellent, being close to many nice restaurants and the deskclerk was helpful in providing recommendations.

Yelp
We spent 4 nights in room 16. Very comfortable bed, spacious suite, except for the tiniest bathroom I've ever seen. Many American men would be challenged to fit! The breakfast is delicious, staff are kind, and the courtyard is beautiful.

Yelp
It is very unmarked and hugely quiet. This hotel was roomy and inexpensive, from the size of the rooms and the quality of everything- the sheets, the shades, the bathroom, you name it. The maitre D was politeness itself and the staff knocked themselves out with great service. I could tell many regulars returned.. My only hesitation about writing a review is the publicity may garner not being able to book again.

Yelp
I absolutely adored this hotel and will be coming back! The unassuming exterior gives way to a gorgeous, quiet courtyard where guests can enjoy the delicious complementary breakfast (don't miss their house-made guava jelly!). The rooms are spacious and clean, the staff is incredibly helpful, and the location on a quaint Condesa street cannot be beat for charm and convenience.

Yelp
My husband and stayed in April for 4 nights. The staff was more then wonderful and rooms and hotel beautiful. Breakfast every morning with a smiling staff and in the evenings tasty margarita. This hotel is walking distance to shopping and restaurants. I will stay here again when in Mexico City and I recommend this hotel to any looking for a quiet and quaint place to stay.

Yelp
It's gorgeous and feels like I'm in an garden oasis. It truly is a lovely hotel. The staff are friendly and helpful. If you get the room all the way at the top be prepared for a steep dangerous walk to the spiral staircase. I had some issues with that particular room (no hot water and an god awful smell that woke me up in the morning and lingered all day.) but the staff compensated me a night for the inconvenience.

Yelp
This place grew on me. It's easy for someone used to large bathrooms and convenient chargers to get irritated with the quirks of an old house but after about five minutes of frowning, here's what I discovered: A quiet homey place A good and convenient neighborhood Nice and helpful employees A free breakfast that included choices Interesting books and couches and patios on which to read them The bad news was that my bathroom was small - nowhere to put my cosmetics - and it sometimes had a faint odor. For me, that was a negative but not a deal breaker. I would stay there again. FYI: I was in room 7 with a cute private patio. The desk guy says that 10 is also a favorite room.
