The hotel is in the most glorious location - breakfast sat on the terrace with amazing lake views is something that will live long in the memory. The service was fantastic - from the waiters in the restaurant to the lovely helpful lady round the pool to the minibus driver - they were all so helpful and polite. ||All the food we had was great - breakfast a particular highlight with a fantastic selection ton of hams, cheeses, smoked trout (delicious), pastries, cakes, fruits, breads, eggs……so much choice and such high quality. Also, and very unusually for us brits, great breakfast tea! Also a huge Italian wine list and high quality cocktails. ||Mark down to four is just because for us the decor is too chintzy. I know that’s a matter of taste, and it’s all very high quality and well kept, but the flounces and ornaments were just too much for us! ||Others have commented on the walk on the road. For us it was OK. Yes there’s a bit along without much path but the traffic was all considerate and we enjoyed our daily strolls into Stresa. ||Thanks for a beautiful stay.

Palazzo Aminta at Lake Maggiore is a beautiful property across the road from the lake. It has excellent free parking and its own dock. Our room, #201, had what they call a side lake view. We enjoyed sitting on the balcony watching the lake and the cars buzz by. The road is narrow and very busy, so it is not advisable to walk to Stresa. Fortunately the hotel does have a shuttle. The staff and the restaurant were excellent. We loved the old fashion key and tag. The pool was very nice.

Beautiful hotel with magnificent views of the lake. Elegant furnishings, well appointed room with a view of the lake, excellent food and wines together with professional, caring and friendly service made for a very relaxing and very spoiling holiday. Privately owned, the level of service is exemplary whether it be a porter, chambermaid, waitress or receptionist or indeed the owner, their desire for you to be spoilt and have a lovely time is palpable. Even the driver of the efficient shuttle bus went the extra mile. All areas of the building and grounds were absolutely spotless. It really is a very special hotel.

We stayed for 2 nights and will not return. There are many issues. ||First, the hotel is located across a very busy road from the lakefront. The road is dangerous to cross, which is necessary if you are visiting the garden or getting picked up by boat. There is a shadow of an old crosswalk there. It needs to be repainted. The road is noisy. The guest room windows are insulated, but it would be nice to open them on cool nights. The noise makes that impossible. The noise is also an issue when trying to relax at the pool (hidden from, but right next to the road) and dining terraces. ||Our room, a deluxe lake view room was small and triangularity shaped. We did not like the space. The bathroom was a real problem. The only shower was inside a tall jetted bathtub. Claiming in was difficult and felt unsafe, especially given the lack of grab bars. Th stand under the showerhead, you had to stand on the sloped part of the tub, on top of uncomfortable jets, which were directly underfoot. This again, without grab bars. There was a 20 inch glass partition which was supposed to contain the shower water. Of course, Water went all over the floor.|The location was not ideal. While it did have a good view of the Borromea Islands, it was. far from town.

We loved our experience here from start to finish! Staff at door, check-in, bar and restaurant were truly amazing! Noticed several staff wearing multiple hats on a busy Saturday night. I had the best martini in the bar - the bartender has skills. The room was cozy, but had a side facing balcony which made a big difference. Cleanliness was great at every point in the hotel. Pool staff (Georgia) went over and above to set up the grass beach area and show us the water access. There was a wedding on Sat night, both indoors and outdoors, and you would never have guessed the next morning - terrace was pristine as usual. Although the hotel is a bit far from the town, the shuttle and e-bikes make it completely accessible, and bonus is no street noise at night. Wouldn't hesitate to return.

This is truly a paradise, a jewel with a very special location. Almost a bit surreal, or otherworldly. The period charm is incredible and enchanting. The service at the hotel is superb, the food truly fantastic, and this place can definitely provide extraordinary moments. I had a truly fantastic birthday trip.

A truly wonderful & memorable stay! Amazing hotel in beautiful setting over looking the lake and across views of all the 3 islands with private pier. We had the best stay ever, breakfast was fantastic, absolutely delicious especially the freshly squeezed orange juice, service was excellent. We had breakfast indoors and outdoors both are very nice❤️ Restaurant experience is phenomenal, amazing food and impeccable service with beautiful Murano chandelier inside, stylish and luxurious indeed. Bar service was also excellent, superb service with delicious food, couldn’t be more impressed. Very sad to leave at the end. Thank you the teams for a wonderful service, we will definitely be returning again.

Excellent service from Elisa at the reception. She was kind, bubbly and a professional in hospitality industry, she definitely escalated the whole experience to another level. All staff were very polite and professional. Great team! However there are several areas for improvement: 1. Understood this is an aged building, but there is some privacy issue inside the room as you can clearly hear what your neighbours do inside their bathroom, opening water tap, flushing toilet, shower… it would be great if the hotel could do something about the sound proof issue for the rooms. 2. Hot water was not so hot at night, the hottest water from the tap can’t rinse the hair conditioner off. Called the reception but they said they can only increase temperature in the morning when technicians are on duty. 3. Prepaid the room online. The moment we checked out, we were asked to settle the city tax which is normal in Italy. After we settled the bill by credit card (paywave), the staff asked us for the credit card after the payment was approved. The lady (blonde hair) at the reception entered our credit card details into the computer system, not sure if it’s considered normal in Italy. If a deposit is required, we would be fine to provide a credit card for it. Or, some hotels would send someone to the room to see if everything is ok before sending us off. Not sure about how hospitality industry works in Italy, but saving credit card details into the hotel computer system at check out for a prepaid room without stating the rationale left me puzzle. The hotel located a bit far away from the pier where you take boats to the islands, but we have a car to get around or the hotel offers shuttle (6 time-slot per day) so it’s not an issue. We tried to walk to the pier to enjoy the view of the lake but the cars are very close to the pedestrian so I felt dangerous to walk. It’s not something the hotel can do as roads around the lake are like this. Just be very careful day and night. The breakfast was plentiful and staff members were all attentive, kind and cheerful. Small room but functional and very comfy bed sheets. Their toiletries smell great. Hope the hardwares could be sustained so we will have a more enjoyable stay in the future!

Yelp
I stayed here for a beautiful wedding last week! Staff was not only great with customer service, but also very fun and friendly. I got the junior suite Lakeview room, which is located on the first floor (Room 105) and it was just perfect! Breakfast came with the room every morning and food was great! The hotel itself had very intricate and lovely decor. It was extremely hard to not want to take photos of every little detail. Even the elevator was very well decorated, and we took multiple selfies in the elevator alone. My bed was extremely comfortable.

Yelp
We had decided to visit Milano and the Italian Lake area. We ended up deciding to fly to Milano and visit Lakes Maggiore and Como. It looked best to go to Maggiore first cause it is not far from Malpensa airport. And the biggest attraction on Maggiore seemed to be the Borromean Islands, so we planned to stay close. This led us to the Hotel Villa and Palazzo Aminta. What a fortuitous chain of events!! This property is in the most beautiful location. Great views of the Lake and the Islands! Terrific, luxurious guest rooms. And the most genuinely friendly and accommodating staff I have ever experienced. I bet I have stayed in nearly a thousand hotels in my life and I cannot think of a better one. If you get anywhere even close to northern Italy, you must stay here.

Yelp
A luxury resort hotel overlooking Iosla Bella just a short distance outside of downtown Stresa. Like others along the lakeshore, this 4-floor hotel feature rooms with beautiful iron balconies festooned with colorful flowers. The interior of this hotel is reminiscent of a Belle Époque French chateau and you could easily believe you were in Paris except for the Italian greeting. We booked a Superior lake view room and were placed in a room on the third (4th by USA standards) floor with a nice large balcony overlooking Lake Magiore and the Borromeo islands-what a view! While the room wasn't very large, especially given the price (566€) it did offer a nice view and large, well-appointed bathroom. The hotel also features a great pool that was almost warm from the hot sun, a spa and two restaurants-both serving Italian food with one that is ultra high end and the more traditional one in an amazing glass and iron setting-something that would look at home in Paris. Breakfast is included and the sumptuous buffet offers something for everyone and caters to its many foreign guests and even included waffles, eggs cooked to order and American bacon in addition to all the expected items in Italy. We stayed for two nights to enjoy the sights and attractions of the area. Pros: amazing views, luxurious furnishings, top notch (if formal) service, warm pool, outstanding breakfast, beautiful hotel and super tidy Cons: too far to walk to main town (although they do offer a free shuttle 4 times daily-or else it's 12€ a ride), AC-not possible to get the room very cool (typical European AC unit), smallish rooms (by US standards)

Yelp
We were greatly looking forward to our stay at the Hotel Villa e Palazzo Aminta. Unfortunately, we feel the need to file a complaint containing several concerning items. Our room contained scores and scores of bugs. We have photos and video. They sent a housekeeper to the room and she was attempting to vacuum them all away for about an hour. But the constant stream of bugs never ceased the entire time we were there. The hotel's answer to this was to implore us to not open the doors to the outside, yet one of the room's biggest features was the beautiful outdoor terrace. When we expressed interest in heading into Stresa for dinner, we were given two restaurant recommendations. We expressly asked if we needed a reservation, but we were told by the woman working the front desk that we did not need one, that it would be a quiet evening, and that there would absolutely be no problem getting a table. We walked through the pouring rain, and when we arrived at the restaurant that was our first choice, not only was it entirely booked, but they were incredulous that the hotel would have sent us there without making a reservation. The second choice was the same, booked solid. We walked through the pouring rain and eventually found a place ourselves. When we went to check out, they tried to charge us 100 Euro per night extra for the "extra bed" for our son. But there was no extra bed. He slept on the pull-out couch included in the room. They claimed our reservation was only for two people, but they did not say anything about this when we checked in, and did not say anything when I went to check out. They just added it to the bill without so much as a mention. When I protested the charge, they were intent on explaining why I should be charged, and after going back and forth, I finally suggested to them that they not add the charge because of all of the bugs in the room. It was only then that the manager emerged and wanted to talk for fifteen minutes about the bugs, and then finally acquiesed to remove the charge. The most important--and most disturbing--item to report is that the owners of the hotel have a collection of World War II memorabilia in the entrance to the main restaurant. Among its items are several pieces of Nazi memorabilia, including several with swastikas. As Jews traveling through Europe in today's world, I hope you can imagine how shocking it was not only to see this, but to see it displayed so proudly and so openly. We asked about it at the front desk, and the clerk claimed not to know what I was talking about. I had to walk her over to the display to show her what I was referring to. She had no answers to my query about what the intention was of having these items on display, but she promised to pass my e-mail address along to the owners, and that they would send me a note to respond to my inquiry. No e-mail or phone call was ever received. Items number 1, 2, and 3 I chock up to terrible service. Item #4 I find unforgivable, and I'm shocked to know that this hotel is part of the carefully curated groups of hotels under both Tablet Hotels and Virtuoso. Is it possible that no one has been made aware of this?

Yelp
This is the place for the best hotel breakfast you will eat on earth. Every corner there is a special touch of class and elegance. The service is the very best, and the food in its restaurant and room service the finest. We misplaced an item in our room and it was retrieved and brought to us by the house keeper. The fridge is stocked 2 times a day with fine refreshments. The spa and pool comfortable and relaxing. Fun can be had just a few minutes walk or by using the complimentary bike service to the town of Stresa, and the boat docks. The sights and comfort of the room are excellent. The hotel makes the Ritz Carlton look like a holiday inn. It is very clean and grand in every way. Thank you Aminita we will remember you forever.

Yelp
We visited this hotel last year. The restaurant was very nice and the views were beautiful. However, the Nazi memorabilia in the hotel's lobby near the restaurant is very disturbing. It is not acceptable to display swastikas in Europe.

Yelp
Just returned. Spotless moderate sized hotel with impeccable service. Amazing views of Lago Maggiore. Nice but slightly noisy pool due to adjacent highway that cannot be seen due to beautiful and well placed landscaping. Take a look at online photos they are representative and stunning. Room service was prompt and always met expectations, We had a new suite 702 was the room number and it was perfect, updated, minamalist but very cool with classical wall and window treatments. Management and reception personnel were very helpful at all times. The Northern-vs-Southern Italian cultural differences are obvious here but with all due respect the staff were elegant, friendly and professional if not necessarily as warm as staff at comparable hotels in Rome, Amalfi or Taormina. Purely cultural I imagine. The food was excellent at the hotel and the nearby Borromean Islets. The only annoying problem was a requested chartered 5 minute boatride on a small boat cost almost 100 euros. Not a big deal, but a similar trip on nearby Lake Orta cost about $30 bucks. I think the Hotel got a piece. Not a big deal. Lots of nice Europeans there, mostly Brits and some Germans and French in their Ferraris and Lambos. Im glad we did not go to Como tho it was worth a day trip. Como has been overrun by immigrants. Good for the Italians to be humanitarian but some back streets looked a bit seedy in downtown Como. Enjoy the Hotel, upgrade to a Suite....It was worth every dollar.\\SW
