Villa Neri Resort & Spa (Linguaglossa, Sicily) 10 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"If you think of volcanoes in Italy, Mount Vesuvius — Pompeii, and all that — probably springs to mind first. But Mount Etna, on Sicily’s eastern coast, is more than twice its size. Which is part of the reason why so many hotels in the region try to outdo each other, advertising the best views of the towering landmark, an active volcano that was named an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2013. Villa Neri Resort & Spa is one of the privileged few that’s situated right on the slopes of Etna." - Tablet Hotels

The most incredible time, I cannot fault the immaculate service from the staff for our staff. They organised trips with us by sharing various options and price points. The room was spotless, we were upgraded to the spa lodge which was an amazing experience and something I highly recommend for a special occasion. Food selection was great (I'm diary and gluten free too... not easy to do in Italy!). I loved every minute of our staff and would love to return one day.

A huge thank you to all the wonderful staff and the front office star, Fabio, for their fantastic service when we stayed at Villa Neri in early June. We had a really great time in this beautiful, luxury villa with simply stunning views of the countryside and Mount Etna – the latter could be enjoyed over drinks by the pool (25 meters, so good for lengths !) served by Salvo, the best barman in Sicily ! || ||Nothing is too much trouble for the team and lifts can be provided to and from the local town and they arranged transport for us to be dropped off (and picked up later) at the lower levels of Etna for us to then take an excursion up Etna to 2,900 meters, not far short of the smoking summit craters !|| ||Just a fantastic stay at Villa Neri – and the breakfasts are amongst the best you’ll ever have, so make sure you’re hungry.|| ||As a little information, we flew into Catania Airport, and they were able to pick us up for the drive (ca. 1 hour) back to Villa Neri – but we realised during our stay that we could, in fact, take a train from Catania (there is a train station both at the airport and at the bus station) to Fiumefreddo di Sicilia, the nearest train station only ca. 20 mins from Villa Neri. Indeed, we took this train back to Catania – great way to also see some countryside.|| ||When the car pulls into Villa Neri, it feels like coming home. Nothing is too much trouble, just soak up the tranquil, relaxing atmosphere and enjoy every moment of it. 10 / 10 from us.|| ||From Simon and Jo (our daughter and her friend also stayed, both 19, and they enjoyed it tremendously too). There is even a vineyard next door which does a great wine tasting and meat / cheese platter which was both informative and fun. || ||Thank you Villa Neri for an amazing time !

We were lucky enough to stay in a lodge at this property. It was stunning with its own garden & views across the vineyards to Etna. Short stroll to the hotel for breakfast & dinner.|Dinner was a luxury experience with great food & service.|Breakfast offered a stunning buffet with eggs cooked to order. We are already looking to rebook next year. We feel in love with Sicily & Villa Neri.

Spent a few days away with my wife first week of July and would have to say it was probably the most relaxed break I have ever had. Hot weather meant, apart from an drive to Taormina one evening, we sent many hours lounging by the large pool which was never busy, treating ourselves to treatments in the quiet spa, indulging one evening in the tasting menu in the restaurant, having lunch under the olive trees served by the charmingly attentive Salvo enjoying the lovely local wines and genuinely unwinding. As it would be too indulgent to dine in the restaurant every night we drove to nearby restaurants with splendid views on the slopes of Mount Etna and in the sleepy town of Linguaglossa and didn't have one poor meal.||Small comments:|The hotel bar is situated in reception and lacks any sense of ambience. Luckily with the lovely hot weather meant we could always drink outside.|The hotel would benefit from other menu options of an evening as although splendid the main Restaurant is a little posh to dine in every evening.|You do need a car to venture anywhere outside the hotel.||All in all a lovely hotel with excellent staff in a fabulous part of the world.

Clean spacious rooms, excellent housekeeping. We were so well looked after here! The dining experience at the restaurant was amazing with top quality food and service. They really made sure we had a great time and offered complimentary desserts and coffee afterwards. Breakfast on the terrace was so enjoyable and we all loved the almond granita. Gabriella was an excellent hostess at breakfast. Nothing was too much trouble for her. When we left she packed bottles of ginger ale for our drive to Catania airport!

This is a beautiful villa by the base of Mt Etna. There is an amazing view from the poolside area overlooking the mountain. The service at Villa Neri was amazing with the staff constantly informing us of any issues that we had and when they had been resolved. For example, the spa was closed for a number of hours due to a technical issue but when resolved the staff informed it was back open and apologised for the inconvenience. The spa is included in the price and it had a sauna, Turkish sauna, mini pool with jets, cold shower that is great for after the saunas, and a scented rain-shower - all of which made this place extremely relaxing. Spa treatments are also available at an additional cost, they are fairly priced and the back massage treatment felt wonderful and personalised to the individual! I cannot thank the staff enough for their amazing customer service in such an amazing location!

I’d like to share a few points of constructive feedback that significantly impacted our experience: • Room comfort: The bed felt outdated and contributed to back pain. The shower cabin was also extremely small and uncomfortable to use. • Noise issue: The constant humming from the outdoor ventilation system on the balcony disrupted the tranquillity of the surrounding nature. • Limited views: Despite the premium positioning, the view from our room did not offer a full panorama of the valley or Mount Etna, as we had hoped. • Remote location: The hotel is quite isolated, which makes it all the more important to offer engaging and well-organized on-site experiences. • Lack of service coordination: We were surprised that the staff couldn’t assist with organizing a tasting at Benanti, yet when we contacted them directly, they welcomed us without issue. This suggests a missed opportunity in guest support. • Understaffed service: We observed minimal staffing—the sommelier had to serve both the beach bar and the restaurant simultaneously. During aperitivo time, neither the beach bar nor the lobby bar was staffed. • Lack of information: There was no proper introduction to the region, the wineries, or nearby excursions. As guests in a wine-oriented luxury hotel, we expected more guidance and insight. • No gym: For a hotel positioned in the luxury segment, we found it surprising that no fitness facilities were available. • Overall price-to-value: While the property presents itself as high-end, the overall service level, facilities, and guest experience did not justify the price point.
