Hotel Villa Pannonia, Venice, Italy - Explore & Book

"The Lido isn’t the first thing that springs to mind when you think of Venice. An adjacent island to the beautiful city, its wide, quiet streets and long sandy beach seem more reminiscent of mainland Italy, but when the tourist rush of summer begins and Venice’s narrow streets are clogged with people, you’ll be glad of some breathing space. Hotel Villa Pannonia is just off the main drag on the island, a poppy-red building with good rates, making it a fantastic place to stay if you’re on a budget but want to get the best out of Venice. With modern art exhibitions in the lounge, restaurant and bar area, and chic, monochrome rooms, it’s not a symphony of excess like many of the palazzos in the city centre. And it has good-sized bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as an excellent breakfast spread. Hop on a vaporetto and cruise down the Grand Canal to the Rialto market; ramble the narrow streets and explore gilded churches and lavish art collections, then hop back on a boat to laze on the beach in the afternoon. And if you come in late August/early September, keep an eye out for movie stars as the Venice Film Festival is held here. Highs When we last revisited, the vaporetto took just 15 minutes from St Mark’s Square - such convenience makes it great value Good for families - no bridges to negotiate, no steep flights of steps and it’s close to the beach It’s very quiet and we had a great night’s sleep Helpful staff The boat connections are excellent and quick from here to the centre of Venice (15 mins), as well as the outlying islands in the lagoon Lows The location lacks the atmosphere and history of the city centre - given the choice, we'd stay in central Venice Slightly characterless and service is more professional than friendly The food options nearby are fairly limited so you’ll end up going back and forth to the centre by vaporetto (which is actually great fun) The Lido is fairly dead out of season, though in the summer it’s a great spot" - Laura Dixon

Stayed here for a week and enjoyed our stay very much. Had two attic rooms, both were clean and ok, although the triple room was much more spacious than the double. Nice breakfast, very Italian, so not many dietary options, but we were satisfied. Some nice sitting areas in the front, spent there a couple of evenings with food from the Coop nearby. Location was really good, short walking distance from the water buses (get a day pass/ weekly ticket). About 10-15min walk to the free beach, also can take bus A. Next to many restaurants and shops, this island was so beautiful!

Everything was perfect except for the breakfast. Cold and burnt scramble eggs along with the pieces of egg shells in them every day. Absolutely terrible. You need to fix that! Very limited choice of food. Juice from squash of poor quality. Dirty tables stayed for long greeting new guest coming for the breakfast. The last: old speck ham which actually stung. Not all.of it but part. Unacceptable for a 4 star hotel. Also the shower was going crazy, from ice cold to boiling hot. Other than that - perfect. The looks, nice receptionists, pretty garden, the location is the best I think. Great rooms even in the attic.

The hotel is good. Location too. But coffee for breakfast is rubbish. In a country of coffee my expectations for a coffee machine were higher. I recommend here drinking tea instead of coffee.

This is a remarkably comfortable and well served B&B in Venice. It is far enough from the Venice anthill atmosphere, which can come as a balm after a day, busy as are the days in this most wonderful city. I chose it because I read from other travelers that a hotel far from the center could be an advantage. Pannonia is located at Lido, the island part of Venice where the film festival takes place; except from the period where the festival takes place it is a calm and adorable neighbourhood, with residential houses and buildings, several very good and attractive restaurants for all tastes, hungry and pocket sizes, as well as all you may need during the trip (drugstore, clothing, sport ware, etc). We really enjoyed the extra 10-15 minutes spent at the Vaporetto after the day was over, unwinding, re-experiencing in the mind the beauties of the day until getting to Lido and going for a perfect calm dinner and silent sleep. The rooms are comfortable and the breakfast was the best we had in the entire trip (which included 5 other places we stayed at). The people at front desk is always helpful with tips, luggage or whatever was wished. I highly recommended for all of the above reasons, plus the great cost-benefit.

Lovely modern hotel situated approx less than 10mins walk from the water bus stop Lido SME. Breakfast was simple…cereals, some fruit, baked goods and cold meats. If you wanted something hot, there was only scrambled eggs, sausages and/or bacon. The coffee wasn’t great…it was a Douwe Egbert machine. It’s about a 10min walk to the beach which was beautiful. The room was small but adequate. It was really hot in the room and there were no instructions on how to use the air on. We just opened the windows which helped slightly. You have body wash/shampoo provided but no hair conditioner so we had to go to a nearby local supermarket (called Coop) to buy. There’s also complimentary teas and coffee in the room. Other stuff in the mini fridge is chargeable. Staff are pleasant and helpful.

Quaint hotel with a wonderful location! My room on the 2nd floor had a nice view and was very quiet. Perfect size for an European hotel. |Staff were very friendly. My room was clean and I loved the big crank out windows to open. The location of the hotel was right off the main strip with all the restaurants and stores. And the beach was a nice walk, but with a wonderful view.

The hotel is in a good location, and easy to reach from the harbor. We were provided with a family room that hosted five of us and it was roomy. Breakfast was good - kids loved it.|For us, it was a pleasant surprise to see photos of our homeland, Armenia in the lobby. The reception staff was helpful and friendly.|Highly recommend.

Stayed one night here to visit Venice Biennale. Pannonia is on a quiet side street in central Lido, close to harbor, beaches and restaurants. Easy to access by foot. Very quiet, so good sleep quality. Room was big enough with a good bathroom. Check-in and out was quick, friendly service. Good Italian style breakfast.

Yelp
What a fantastic hotel. I absolutely refused to stay at the so called "rustic" hotels in Venice itself. Rustic means no ac, old, smelly and very small rooms. Hotel villa Pannonia was the opposite of this. I loved staying on the island of Lido rather than Venice. Lido is a dream at night. It is so quiet, tranquil and you can bicycle the whole island. Trust me if you go to Venice stay on Lido and enjoy the tranquility and the beach with the Adriatic lapping the sand. To get to Hotel Villa from the airport you have to buy a Alilaguna ticket for $27 Euros a person round trip. This IS NOT the vaparetto boat taxi ticket. Alilaguna is a separate company that will take you to the island. You can buy the ticket as soon as you exit the airport. Then it is a good 10 minute walk to the dock to get on the boat. It will take you about a half an hour to get to Lida. But you get great views of Venice and Murano on the way. The hotel itself has some amazing smelling Jasmine growing right by the door. The outside of the hotel has two seating areas(in the front and the back). The hotel is very modern inside and out. You can even borrow the bicycles for free but be warned you need to make a reservation to use them and the hotel only has 2 bicycles for the whole hotel. Breakfast is a well stocked buffet and it is 12 Euros per person. You can even eat outside. The dining room was small and intimate. The wifi was awesome. Be sure to use a VPN when using public wifi though! I would recommend Express VPN. The room I had was an attic type room. It was large, had ac, and awesome bathroom and was very quiet. It was well kept by the maid and have a safe and a nice closet for your clothes. There were restaurants nearby on the main strip on Lido(which is just one block from the hotel). Be sure to make reservations at the restaurants on Lido. If you do not I promise you they will turn you away because they all get booked. There was one thing I did not like and you need to be aware of this because they will not tell you when you check in. When you check out you will be required to pay a 7 Euro per day per person tax that is collected for the city of Venice. When I checked out I was angry about this though I should have remembered this happened to me in Paris as well. So be warned-you will have to pay this. And the tax you pay per person is even MORE if you stay on Venice itself. It nearly came to 100 dollars extra for my stay that I had not budgeted for. This is a must stay hotel when in Venice. I will repeat.

Yelp
We loved it here! We didnt want to stay in the mess of summer tourists on Venice, so we opted for this cute little place on Lido instead. I think its the only hotel on that island. The staff was welcoming and friendly, the rooms were beautiful and very traditional to the area without being run-down or in need of updates... hard to find this perfect combination of culture, and old-world feeling, but they have done it here! Super easy to grab a water taxi and head to the other islands... Venice, Murano... there is a beach on Lido that was beautiful and relaxing (Mostly locals only there, so try to blend in. Not really a tourist spot, but thats what we were looking for). The food at the hotel was very good, authentic, and made to order with fresh local ingredients usually gathered that very morning. Amazing.

Yelp
What a delightfully new property, and such a short distance from the main thoroughfare of Santa Maria Elisabetta where sits much of Lido's retail activity. The Ferry dock is just 10 minutes walk to the west and, with two supermarkets in its vicinity (Coop and Billy), staying at the Pannonia is simply a no brainer.
