Firstly this hotel is perfect location as everything is in walking distance, so absolutely ticked that box for us, |If you want quality and a |5* experience this is the place to book, wow what a absolutely stunning hotel with 5* luxury from start to finish, the concierges were friendly professional and go out of there way to offer you the best experience of politeness and chaivery, the reception staff were totally amazing, helpful, friendly and keen to please to make sure you are happy and well catered for, the bar & restaurant is beautiful & cosy, the staff here are at a high standard, Ramon & Chris were friendly, polite professional at all times, they made you feel a special guest, the food in here is to a very high standard and plentiful, the rooms are absolutely amazing, clean with excellent sundries, if you need anything for your room nothing is to much trouble and it arrives immediately, room service is delivered to a very high 5* top class standard sliver trays and covers, again arrives very quickly, room service food was excellent top quality. Breakfast is absolutely stunning everything is cooked to perfection, poaches eggs & omelettes are cooked perfectly. |At your table the flowing juice & hot beverages was a welcome and your cup glass was never empty! |The continental breakfast is of very high standard replenished often so freshness is given, the section was excellent and extensive. |I have no criticism or negativity about anything at this hotel, people say you get what pay for, but here we received so much more making it a real excellent experience. Great Hotel in a very good location close to good stuff. Great restaurants, museums, walking areas, downtown, embassies, etc. staff is attentive & welcoming. The Sweet corner was a big hit for my daughter. She absolutely loved the pillows in the room & bed was comfortable. Will be back if visiting Madrid.

Although the hotel’s location is very advantageous, this alone does not compensate for the overall shortcomings of the stay. The rooms are extremely small, and the bathroom is clearly inadequate in terms of both design and functionality. The level of comfort and service provided falls well below what is expected from a five-star property. Overall, the hotel fails significantly in terms of value for money and can be considered, at best, comparable to a three-star hotel. It does not justify the price paid.

In 50 plus years of traveling. Our stay was the finest experience ever. This is due in great part to the amazing staff who continuously go above and beyond to address the needs of guests. The family room was quite nice except for the steps, not recommended for those with mobility issues. Derby hotels has a clear winner with villa real. It made our Madrid experience all the more special. Thank you

We have stayed far and wide in our travels all over the world, Sofitels in Asia, kimptons in Amsterdam but got to say that the week we spent in Madrid recently was the best hotel experience ever. Why you ask, it is not just that the villa real is an actual 5 star hotel with top notch service and amenities, it is that the hotel has the most amazing welcoming and knowledgeable staff we have ever encountered. Normally do not ask a lot of advice on dining shopping transport etc but these folks are just amazingly helpful. And by the way their breakfast is just great, eggs, pancakes blini even a classic Spanish omelette. 2 cappuccinos you say, instantly appear. The family room with 2 separate rooms was comfy each with a king bed perfect for aging snorers. All was clean. Bottom line it isn’t inexpensive but what a pleasure. Thanks derby hotels and one big thank you to the wonderful staff who made our stay so special.

I would say this hotel is more a 4 star than a 5 star. During our 5 day stay, the reception doors were only held open for us once which is normally routine at 5 star hotels. The rooms are very small, especially the room we were given had no drawers at all to put our clothing away. There were just a few hangers in the cupboard.||There's no iron in the rooms but obviously you can for reception to bring you one. However, when we opened the ironing board, the legs fell off and collapsed on the floor. You'd think this would be checked.||Breakfast options are great, as is the service there. The bar and service is also really good too .||The free mini bar is a nice touch but it would be nice to have at least a small bottle of wine in the selection to go with the beers and soft drinks.||Now, the pool. It's not really a pool, more a hot tub which doesn't work as a hot tub (there's a button for the jets but it doesn't work). It's really small and there's no shade. You also can't smell any chlorine so not sure exactly how clean it is. There's also no rooftop bar as advertised. They order the drinks up from the bar and then cheekily charge you a room service fee.||Location wise it's great although there's a lot of road closures around this hotel so getting a taxi or Uber can sometimes be a bit tricky.

Stayed here for three nights to celebrate our 32nd anniversary and my wife’s birthday. What can I say? It was an absolute delight staying in this fabulous hotel. We could not have chosen a better hotel for our stay in this wonderful city. Every part - from reception/concierge, to breakfast staff and housekeeping were phenomenal. The throughput of guests is, as you might expect, busy… but everyone is treated as if you were the only guests staying and being looked after! that’s how good it is!! My special thanks to Lydia - head of Guest Relations for her lovely words on our anniversary and the complimentary bottle of Cava and personalised chocolates. Such a small gesture speaks volumes of this great hotel. It made our stay all the more memorable.

Everything about this hotel is first rate. The rooms are modern, comfortable, and clean. The staff are very friendly. I had breakfast at the hotel every morning; the servers are attentive and the chef makes delicious scrambled eggs and blini with smoked salmon. It is a very short walk to the Prado Museum -- barely five minutes. I hope to return next year.

I have a love hate relationship with hotels in most pets of Europe. Hotel Villa real fits the repeated category of being awesome, but just a little too small. To start, the location is outstanding. You're literally right in the heart of the capital and walking distance to some of the best food the country has to offer. You're also walking distance to top attractions like the pardo museum and the famous park. It literally doesn't get better than this location wise. The hotel room itself was great. Clean, simple and quiet. But the small size is an issue. As with most hotels I saw in Spain, you can only get two single beds when booking for two people. This means that if you're staying with someone other than a spouse, expect to be sleeping on a bunk type bed. The beds are also pushed together, making it even more of a challenge. Separately, there is also a sitting room section that comes with a couch, coffee table, desk and television. This section is awesome and is a welcomed diversion from the small size of the sleeping area. Small size aside, this hotel is great if you're visiting Madrid for the first time. I walked to just about everything I needed in Madrid. My biggest suggestion is get a room overlooking the street and not the back of the hotel/courtyard. It's not a good view at all.

I came to Madrid for a business trip so I booked this hotel because of the location. My plane arrived at 9am so I came to the hotel hoping that I could check-in early. Unfortunately all the rooms were booked the night before therefore they couldn't check me in. But they let me drop off my bags, took down my number and said they would call when my room is ready. I headed out looking for something to eat. Around noon I received a call from them and they said my room was ready. The bellman helped brought my luggages to the room and showed me how to operate the lights. The room is spacious for just me. I had a junior suite room and there was a separate sitting area with a sofa and a Tv. There was a balcony that to access outside with view of the street. I got changed, and headed out for lunch. When I returned, I found that the cleaning lady was in my room. I had just checked in only a few hours ago, I was not sure what she was doing in my room. Breakfast was included in my room and it started from 7am to 10am each day. It was convenient because I could eat something quick before heading to work. They do not change the items so after a few days I was sick off the food. If you want hot items you will need to order from the menu. The hotel is in a restricted area so only Taxi could come to the front. The front desk lady was helpful. I told her I needed a taxi daily and she arranged it for me. I did not use an Uber my entire trip so I wasn't sure if an Uber driver could get to the hotel. Btw if you want to use Uber in Spain, apparently you need to enter your passport # in the app and they would save it. I did not feel comfortable with this so I did not use Uber. Because of the incident with the cleaning lady, I put up the do not disturb sign at the door and did not request cleaning since. I felt it was unnecessary since it was just me and I was gone most of the day. If you need an iron or a power converter you could ask the front desk and they'll let you keep it for your entire stay. I did not use room service or their restaurant since I did not see anything I like. Just walk 5 or 10 minutes and there should be plenty of restaurants to choose from. Be mindful that most restaurants will be closed from 5pm-8pm. Overall I was happy with my stay. Next time I would probably check out other hotels in the area.

Lovely Hotel near the Prado Elegant Five Star hotel in an upscale area just around the corner from the Thysen Bornemisa Museum and near the Prado. Very nice, quiet room and the hotel is set back from nearby streets with traffic. Helpful staff provided good advice with directions and helped us orient us to Madrid's major attractions, many of which are within walking distance. The Madrid Marathon was taking place the morning we checked out and taxis were blocked from the hotel location. Staff carried our luggage to a point where we could get a taxi to the airport. This was the nicest hotel during a three week holiday in Spain and although it is somewhat more expensive than other hotels it was inexpensive by the standards of London, New York or San Francisco. Definitely recommend if you want to budget for a very nice hotel for part of your visit to Spain

Location is excellent, and breakfast is excellent Otherwise... The room is small with a strange layout - split level where you have to squeeze by the bed to get to the sofa area. Not much lighting available if you need to do work. They charge you 20 euros/day for each extra person in your room. I did not book the room, so when you book, check whether they tell you about this fee upfront. If not, they will definitely make you pay at check-in. I think it is for breakfast, but you can't opt out of this charge. The breakfast buffet is excellent, but I only ate it because it had been paid for. The gym is a worthless waste of space. It's so sad... there are a couple machines and few dumbbells, but only 1 of each weight and no pairs! They should not have even bothered. I walked over to the Basic Fit nearby for 9 euros/day for a full gym. I must report to you that I had a strange incident - I was sitting on the bed watching TV around 9:30pm, and the bellhop just opened the door without knocking, saw I was there, and said, "oh sorry" then shut the door. I couldn't see who it was from my angle. Confused, I hopped up and opened the door quickly. The guy was walking away and said, "I'm the bellhop" to imply he had a business reason for entering my room. I thought this was VERY shady and when I told the front desk, they acted surprised and said, "I'm so sorry" but did nothing about it or investigate. I mentioned this to other people at the hotel (my same company) and several people had similar stories but different circumstances. One girl was in the shower, and heard the door open. She said she'd plopped her luggage in front of the door, blocking it from opening all the way, so the person shut the door and went away. I cannot think of any reason the bellhop would enter peoples' rooms without knocking and this is very suspicious, not to mention an invasion of privacy. If you stay here, I highly recommend you lock up your luggage before leaving the room because you may not be present when the "bellhop" comes in to do whatever he "needs" to do. If something goes missing, I'm confident this hotel would do nothing about it.

Not sure why this is listed in the "Restaurant" category but I can assure you it is a hotel. A very nice hotel. In fact maybe too nice if all you're looking for is a good bed and bathroom. However with internet rates and a good dollar to euro trade Im not complaining. Let's see they give you a bottle of wine, and there's a separate room with a couch. A view from the balcony looks over the Plaza des Cortes towards Neptune's fountain. Pretty damn nice. Again, maybe excessive unless you plan on entertaining. Ridiculously good/attractive/friendly staff. As they often say you get what you pay for, and this is an excellent hotel.

This is one of my favorite hotels I've stayed in while in Madrid. The staff is super friendly, the rooms are very clean, and they provide many niceties to make your stay feel more pleasant. The hotel is located in a quiet area and is very close to many plazas and attractions. I would definitely stay here again!

The two level rooms with balconies are a good size for Europe, and the location is great. Unfortunately the amenities are lacking. He gym is a joke- three cheap machines literally looking into a shower. As for room service - you are lucky if they ever show up. I am now sitting in my room an hour and a half after ordering dinner only to have the kitchen staff deny they took my order on the phone.

I recommend this hotel. The location is great, you can walk everywhere and there are restaurants all around.The staff was friendly and helpful. The rooms are a nice size and come with a sitting area. I did sample some appetizers at the restaurant but did not have a meal there. The food I did have was excellent. I will return again to this hotel. The Wifi is free for one hour every 24 hours or you can pay to have it the whole time.

Great hotel, clean!! Staff is super nice, rooms are spacious. Stay felt luxurious. Breakfast was pretty good too.

Very clean, great location, everyone speaks English . Checking in was easy and they always were quick on room service. Only reason I won't give 5 stars is checking out took a long time, I ended up taking my bags myself downstairs because they seemed to be running behind, and they took a while to get my car out. Otherwise good stay.
