Hotel Villas Flamingos

I am normally a relatively budget traveller but booked this hotel as a treat given I would be spending Christmas alone. It did not disappoint and there are too many good things to mention. First off, and most importantly, find Ivan in guest services. He will give you his WhatsApp and ensure you have the very best experience possible at the hotel. Rooms are spacious, comfortable, and well appointed, the views are spectacular, and the entire place is kept pristine by the super friendly, professional, attentive staff. I asked why no one was swimming in the sea and was told it was because it was "too cold" in winter. Dear reader, it was 23° and I swam every morning in crystal clear turquoise waters, avoiding the dive-bombing pelicans! Some guests feed the omnipresent raccoons, which means they can be pesky burglars - keep your doors not only closed but locked as these wily trash pandas are persistent intruders! Breakfast is high-end catering with a variety of delicious, fresh and tasty options, fruit bowls, smoothies, juices and mexican style main plates. Don't miss the free activities such as yoga and cookery classes and take advantage of the insect repellent lotion available at the restaurant and beach bars as the midges can be voracious. My week here felt like pure relaxation in a slice of paradise, it would be a perfect place to come for a honeymoon or a special birthday but I was warned it books up months in advance. I am not surprised, it should be top of everyone's bucket list for Mexico. Thank you to all the hard-working staff who make a special place even more special.

We loved our stay at this beautifully managed property. The villas nestle into the palm trees and wild life and native plants make it an exceptionally restful retreat. We arrived after sunset and had our breath taken away by the view the next morning. The room was fresh and clean, our food at restaurant and beach bar was delicious, and the staff hospitable and dedicated to great service. We enjoyed being a little removed from the town center and relished walking along the beach to town just before sunset. Everyone comes out as the sun goes down, and there is a deep sense of communal joy. We hope we can return!

4.7 stars. Room are very clean and well-maintained. Service was exceptional. Located on the quiet end of the island. Fantastic views. Close access to the sprawling beach walk to Punta Mosquito. Nice restaurant. 150 pesos to take the cab in and out of town, but just as easy to walk one mile up the beach on firm sand. Would absolutely stay here again.

I spent Christmas 2024 here and it came pretty close to holiday perfection. A pristine resort expertly managed by Ivan who cannot do enough for his guests. Gorgeous rooms with spectacular views. Plenty to do if you feel like it and serene tranquility if you don't. A pleasant stroll into town but it feels like a paradise getaway. Just beware the adorable but mischievious trash pandas 🦝

We had a WONDERFUL time at hotel Villas Flamingos. The hotel is beautiful and located on a gorgeous stretch of beach. We loved how the hotel was on a quiet end of the island, but was a very easy walk in to town. The breakfast was delicious! We loved the service and felt like part of the family after 5 days. Ivan is a great host and is incredibly responsive and helpful! We are already planning when we can go back!

This hotel is located in one of the most pristine and secluded parts of the island, far from the noise near the town yet within walking distance to other restaurants etc. We found the beach in front of the hotel to be one of the most beautiful along the whole stretch. Villas Flamingos is family and kid friendly, service is good and breakfast/lunch options are plenty. Rooms are modern and spacious with comfortable beds.

We had a wonderful experience at Villas Flamingos! We arrange the airport transfer through the hotel and it made arriving stress free, our driver was waiting for us as soon as we arrived, the ferry ride easy and the atv taxi on the island was ready and waiting once we got to the island. Check in was quick, they brought our bags to our room for us. A welcome drink would have been a nice touch, just a suggestion to the hotel.||We stayed in the cacao room which was gorgeous! It felt private, we had a huge terrace and outdoor shower and great ocean views. It was clean, had nice amenities (robes, bathroom toiletries, blowdryer, water), AC, and the bed was comfortable. We never used the jetted tub in our loft area, we really liked this room for the privacy and terrace. I thought the water pressure in the shower was great an we had really hot water. ||The property was beautiful and felt well taken care of and clean. Every morning there were guys cleaning up the sargassum, they cleaned our room every morning and I saw them constantly cleaning and maintaining other areas of the property. We're on an island and it's not going to be spotless, that would be impossible with the seawater and sand. There were raccoons, iguanas and lizards, for the most part they leave you alone, I liked having them around. ||The complimentary breakfast was tasty and appreciated. Service was super slow and unorganized but, we're on island time and you just have to ask for things multiple times. It was annoying a few times. I would say a few different options could be added to the menu, like a breakfast burrito would be good or Mexican pastries. Also, Mimosas are included with breakfast, it's not on the menu and there were a few other things I saw other people order that weren't on the menu like bacon and different beverage options. If you want it I guess just ask and see if they have it. |Lunch and dinner was also really good at the hotel. I loved the shrimp tacos at lunch. ||I wish the hotel had a concierge service, we asked the front desk where to eat one night and they just told us that it was too early to eat. We tried to book a snorkel excursion and they weren't sure if it was still happening because of weather that was coming in; it then got cancelled and we weren't notified until I asked the front desk what was going on. It would have been nice to have a dedicated person (one who spoke English) to help with excursions and dinner reservations and such. Maybe it's because we're visiting off season. ||Holbox was such a beautiful island. We loved the location of Villas Flamingos, it was so quiet and peaceful, only a 25/30 minute walk to town. It was so easy to walk to town, we had an amazing dinner at Viva Zapeto, Mandarina (at Casa Torgugas) and a great lunch at La Bamba and Holbox Magico. We took the bikes out and biked to Playa Punta Cocos and saw flamingos. The bike ride was hard, the streets have a ton of pothole lakes, we didn't take the best route there and we didn't plan it well but, it was a fun adventure. ||Overall I'd definitely stay here again and totally recommend this to everyone who asks! Also, my partner proposed under the full moon at the resort and I turned 40 at the resort, both made this visit of ours extra special.

If I could give less than 1 star I would. terrible experience and I am glad to read I am not the only one who had a very bad experience since for Booking.com I am the crazy one! Super expensive hotel, we paid so much money for 2 nights, we didn’t get the room we paid for and they never refunded us although Booking.com said we would have gotten a refund. Ridiculous. There are many places less expensive and much much better in Holbox!!!!

What an Incredible Escape! Not easy to get to, but TOTALLY worth it. This place is located on Isla Holbox in the Yucatan. First, getting to Isla Holbox. You have to fly into Cancun. Then there's a great Holbox transfer service (I'll review later) that will drive you the 1 1/2 drive to Chiquila, then you take a 30 minute ferry to the island. Then take a golf cart taxi to the hotel (there aren't hardly any cars on the island; everyone gets around on golf carts). Its a Tropical Paradise Hotel. Our room was located on the upper two floors of the building (only 2 rooms in our building). Our patios had lounge chairs, chairs, hammocks. Top floor had a hot tub with views. Mini fridge with waters in room. Indoor & Outdoor showers. There are no traditional shower heads; everything looked like branches or pails. I loved the Mexican Island decor. There's no television or phones (and you can forget your cell phone working; however, they do have free wi-fi). If it gets too hot for you, there IS air conditioning (had to blast that a couple of times). Incredible views of the ocean. Hotel pool is fantastic. Included in your cost is breakfast (very good) and hotel toys (bikes, kayaks, etc). There's a hotel restaurant inside lobby and a bar/restaurant, right next to the ocean. You will also have to deal with many resident creatures (iguanas, raccoon thieves, pelicans, stray dogs, etc). There's a sandbar a hundred feet out in the ocean that you can walk for a couple of miles and see all the flamingos. You can grab a bike to ride into town. Its an amazing place. PLUS, Excellent service. Everyone was friendly & helpful. I'm sad to be reviewing because that means I'm home.

We got the Bungalow Cielo and OMG, it was gorgeous. AC worked great, the tub on the top floor palapa was amazing, the included breakfast was very good (FYI they don't have champagne to order mimosas- no biggie). Service at the hotel was excellent. They will call you a taxi when you need to go to town. I found the distance to be too far to walk in that heat, but they do also have bicycles you can use. The pool was never crowded either. Next time we may stay closer to town just to be walking distance, but I am glad we chose Villa Flamingos because it was awesome and we may not have seen some of the places that far up the island if we hadn't.

OMG !! THIS PLACE IS BEAUTIFUL!!! too bad waters were not as nice around December(windy and slightly cold) they keep all areas really clean all the time!! we got a room on second floor with balcony overlooking water. next time I will male sure we stay more than 1 day. el pueblo is enchanting !!! crustaceo cascarudo restaurant in town was off the hook!!! staff is cool and informative! bikes that we took to town desperately need servicing. falling apart but we made it!! ride to town was worth the whole trip! I would stay there a week! IT IS MORE A 4.5 STAR PLACE, I COULD NOT GIVE A 4 ..... too GOOD for that. please do not change smiles for anything!! it does matter to us ! good job.
