Nice people great views. Hotel staff very helpful. Room very spacious bizarre staircase. Clean comfortable. Excellent |Breakfast. Restaurant very overpriced a compromised atmosphere and extremely limited average non exceptional menu with an arrogant pompous administrator but with very nice perfect pleasant staff and the view outstanding

We had an incredible experience at this hotel. We had the most beautiful view of the lake from our balcony. The room was modern and tastefully decorated and the bed was comfortable. Loved the provided robes, flip flops, beach bag and beach towels in the room. Husband used the gym which was decent, the sauna and jacuzzi were great. We used the paddle boards too. The breakfast was amazing. Can’t say enough about this place!||The only criticism is that the coffee station on our floor was not kept stocked of clean cups and spoons.

The website and location are very appealing, but our stay was very disappointing. The historic building has not been properly insulated, which made our suite uncomfortably hot (there is no AC, as is often the case in historic buildings). ||We strongly recommend avoiding the suites. Insulation is very insufficient. They are located on the top floor and poorly designed: the living room is on the lower level while the bedrooms are directly under the roof, where it becomes unbearably warm in the summer. Even with fans, the temperature remained extremely high at night, and it was almost impossible to sleep. The windows are very small, so there is little chance for fresh night air to cool down the rooms.||The "suite" itself was underwhelming. The rooms felt small, with low ceilings, sparse decoration, and very basic white furniture—not what one would expect from a suite.||Finally, don’t expect peace and quiet. On the evening of our stay, a wedding was hosted in the hotel gardens, with a loud DJ playing music from 7 pm to 10 pm. We were never informed of this in advance, nor upon arrival. It completely disrupted the atmosphere, and we couldn’t enjoy the gardens at all.

This is one of the hotels that we as a family had nothing to complain about, the staffs are very warm and eager to help. Nice food/beverages. As long as you can afford travel to Switzerland this hotel is a go to place, with it's breathtaking views. We love here ❤️

Just before our stay at Hotel Vitznauerhof, we stayed at a five-star property in Zermatt. My understanding is HV is a four-star property. If I had to give the HV a star rating, I'd say it is barely a three star. ||SETTING|The setting on Lake Lucerne is lovely. The grounds, outdoor seating, etc. could use attention. ||FRONT DESK|The front desk was not well coordinated, looked sloppy in appearance and showed none of the Swiss level of service we look forward to when visiting Switzerland.||ROOM-FACILITIES|The room was fine--very dorm-like in furnishings. Facilities in general appear tired. ||FOOD|We had dinner at the lake-side restaurant, and it was one of the best meals we had on our three week trip. Very nice service, presentation and quality. Outstanding.||We were only on property for one night, so we stayed. For the rates, we probably would not have stayed if our visit had been longer.

Vitznau is a beautiful small town. We traveled from Zurich taking trains and busses, the hotel is a short walk from the bus stop. The hotel is very aesthetic and has been recently renovated. The staff is very friendly and helpful with recommendations. It rained while we were there but the hotel can keep you entertained with the views, restaurants, spa, and pool. We ate at Sens which was outside (covered) by the lake, and we highly recommend eating at Inspiration. It was a wonderful experience. We also did a day in Lucerne, about an hour with bus and trains and the hotel helped us with directions.

My wife and I have been regular visitors to the Vitznauerhof over the last 10 years. ||We live just outside Zurich, so the Vitznauerhof has been a lovely escape / short break without the kids.||The hotel itself is a beautiful building, good spa facilities, stunning setting / views, and the food is excellent. I also receive a birthday card from the Vitznauerhof - OK, it's a marketing tactic, but it's a nice touch. ||However our latest visit was a disappointment. There appears to be have been a change in ownership / management and this is felt in every area of the experience. ||The staff, most of who appeared to be new, were very friendly but failed to deliver on the basics. Examples; We waited to be served for over 20 minutes at lunch. Despite 7-8 members of staff working in and around the restaurant nobody approached us. When our order was eventually taken and our food arrived, items were missing. The waitress became argumentative and walked off in a huff when I simply asked for what I had ordered. This, it should be pointed out, isn't out of the ordinary for Swiss service, but it is unusual for the Vitznauerhof.||My wife wanted to arrange a massage, however there was nobody staffing the spa on the Saturday. No explanation. Just nobody there. Towels appeared to have been rationed so we clung onto the two that we had been given into the second day.||Saturday evenings 'romantic' meal in front of the lake was somewhat impacted by the private function belting out the Abba Megamix and other 70's party hits. The Vitznauerhof is popular with private functions, understandably, and we have experienced this during previous stays. I imagine that it's a difficult balancing act to manage different sets of guests needs, but the focus is very much on the party.||Other examples of cost cutting - the nice selection of teas outside the rooms and in the spa have been replaced with cheaper alternatives, the appetizers (breads, spreads and oils) had been cut back to 4 slices of bread, table salt, pepper and oil and we were not offered more. Wine wasn't served with our starters, until we asked for it to be served.||In our experience, unless you are spending big money, Swiss accommodation is more 'miss' than 'hit'. The Vitznauerhof occupied a unique position, in that it offered a boutique hotel experience but represented good value, hence why we have returned so often. However, this is no longer the case.||We have stayed in virtually every class of room in the hotel, this stay was quite expensive for what we got, and based on the service experience or lack thereof, the value is no longer there for us. ||Regretfully we will look for alternatives for our next get-away. ||The Vitznauerhof is a beautiful hotel, it has so much potential but it is currently under poor ownership / management and unfortunately it now sits among the hundreds of mediocre, over-priced hotels in the Luzern area.

This was an AMAZING place to stay with unbelievable views. The staff were extremely friendly and super helpful! The breakfast in the morning was delicious, as was the coffee. The spa services were FABULOUS and paddle boarding in Lake Lucerne was unforgettable. There is a lounging area with small whirlpool, sauna, and comfortable chairs to relax in the sun. The area had good restaurants and coffee spots, however we traveled about 15-20 mins for meals because there weren't too many options nearby. We did the Rigi cable car up the mountain which was great, but a bit pricey. I would definitely stay here again!

Yelp
We stay here each time we visit Vitznau. Fantastic staff. Great lunch/dinner spot right by the lake. Complimentary breakfast, sauna, fitness and swimming pool. Be sure to ask for fan for bedrooms during hot summer months. There is a small grocery store nearby. Rigi station to catch trains up to Rigi Kalbad mountains plus boats to Lucerne and surrounding areas is a short walk from hotel. There is parking at hotel if you're renting a car.

Yelp
This is quite an upscale hotel and can feel somewhat stuffy given the grand staircase high ceiling's etc., but it was a very nice place to stay. The reason this is not getting four stars is because it has no air conditioning and I don't care how old the building is or it's landmark status you can pipe in space pack air conditioning and not ruin the exterior look of a building. Prior to our arrival I requested a foam pillow and they sent a note saying that they did not have foam pillows. After we arrived we saw a list of eight different types of pillows of which one was ergonomic which was exactly the foam type of pillow I was looking for so if you want that kind of thing make sure you send them an email asking for a description of all the pillow options so you can order yours in advance. There are two parking lots on the premises, one in front of the building with a few spots basically under the street that are covered and then an open lot over a somewhat steep incline bridge to the south of the building. They do push hard to get you to make reservations for one of the restaurants, they said they were completely full when we were there but we never saw any of the seating full out on the terrace or on the water where one of the restaurants is. The prices are sky high as you would imagine for this type of high-end property. A glass of wine was 15 CHF and beer was 8! After spending less than two dollars US for beers in Czechoslovakia and Hungary this was a punch in the face. The rooms were nicely appointed as the pictures show. There was a little bit of dirt by the switch plate at the front door and there was a weird hairy type of substance where the shower doors rolled into each other. They need to clean those areas a little better. They have nice comfy robes and slippers in the closet and a mini fridge stocked with 2 L of tapwater that they refill every day. Luckily the evening temperatures dropped into the low 60s so we were able to open the window in the bathroom and in the bedroom, place the stand fan in the bathroom and blow out air so that we had a cross breeze in the room. Had it been 10°F hotter we would've been uncomfortable. Luckily there were few bugs so we did not have trouble even though none of the windows had screens. We did not use the spa or fitness center, although the pictures looked nice. Each floor had a coffee station on the main landing with Nespresso pods, hot water, tea and some whole fresh apples. The breakfast buffet which was included in our room was delicious. Servers would bring you fresh coffee and clear your plate between your courses. They had an omelette and egg making station, cooked bacon and sausages, a juicing station with fresh fruit you would cut and juice yourself, plenty of very high-quality fresh baked loaves of bread, lots of fresh deli meats and delicious roast beef, smoked salmon and very good cheeses, they had a full honeycomb, homemade preserves and jams, plenty of fresh cereals, several pastries, and juices. At 300 CHF A night this is certainly not a deal but a very nice place to stay if you can live without air conditioning.
