Hotel Vossius Vondelpark

Great mid-range hotel. Good price for what it was, which was a clean, safe, private room and bathroom; no glitz or glam. This might seem like a lackluster review but I mean these things in a good way. Hotel is pretty much exactly what it claims to be and it's a great option for solo-travelers or folks on a budget. Property: Door to the hotel is locked all times of day, only open with keycard or buzz in through the front desk, which felt safe. Check-in and out were easy. Location is great, right near Van Gogh Museum, Vondelpark, shopping, city center, everything. Hallways often had bags of housekeeping things (towels, sheets, etc) which makes it look a bit unkempt but it was fine. Room: Bathroom and shower were small but fine. Came with a hairdryer. Housekeeping kept it tidy and stocked. No fridge or microwave in the room. Walls were paper-thin but no one was excessively loud. Stairs were super narrow and steep (as seems typical for Dutch buildings) but there is a lift that works fine.

The room was extremely small, with only one tiny window (on the 4th floor) and no view of the park. The carpets in the corridor were dirty, and the double bed was very narrow, with no access from one side. The bathroom was so small that a second person couldn’t fit, and the door couldn’t even open fully as it hit the bed. The mattress was thin and uncomfortable, and overall, the room did not feel very clean. Noise insulation was very poor — when someone walked in the hallway, it sounded as if they were inside the room. They also provided only one room key card. For the price of €220 per night for a room barely 10–12 m², it was definitely not worth it. With just a little more money, you can find much better options. We certainly would not stay here again. The only positive aspect was the location: very close to the museums and the park, and about a 25–30 minute walk to the central station.

Good location, very close to museums, cafés, nice neighbourhoods. Only thing was the bathroom had a rather unpleasant smell for the duration of the stay (perks of canal life, I suppose!). Other than that, staff were forthcoming and the room was clean :)

The rooms were cleaned daily and they were in better condition than what we initially expected. Perfect location. The bathroom was really small. Besides that, I truly recommend it.

could say that it was a good stay but wasnt… Starting by the cleaning part, everything seemed fine at first (i mean Its a 3 star hotel ), although Its not the finnest we thought we would be ok because the staff was helpful until they werent.. we bought some gifts to bring home and some were like those deposits for jo*nts which btw were pricy and obv had barcodes and stickers on ( that would have given away the part were they were gifts + they were right next to other stuff we bought) but to our sadness and surprise when we came Back to the hotel they were no where to be found so we went to talk to the staff which said that if something is empty then the cleaning staff would throw away because they couldnt recognise What is thrash and What isnt… fun part is we had trash in the bathroom and in the room Its self but what they chose to clean and throw away was our belogings and not the toilet papper nor the ground. to top it all off we came empty handed with no refound just a “We Will talk to them but theres nothing we can do, sometimes that happens a lot in other hotels aswell ” (???) what kind of answer is that, never happened to me before not even in a 2 star hostel nor in youth hostels. Good thing is the location tho, u wont need to take trains or bus to go around the city.

Perfect location for when you come to visit Amsterdam. Within walking distance of all of the top museums. Plus you are minutes from many restaurants, everything from fine dining to Burger King. You are also right next to a casino and if you came to Amsterdam to go shopping then this hotel is a great choice as you are near all the high end luxury brands

Great location, close walk to centre of amsterdam with easy transport options. Great customer service and very friendly. I left belongings there and the staff were very helpful and friendly throughout the whole process of getting it returned to me. Highly recommend for a cheap and easy option!

First of all, I want to start this review by mentioning that we were helped very well by the staff, which made the experience more bearable. Unfortunately, our hotel room was not clean. We stayed at the second floor. The curtains were ripped apart, the wallpaper was peeling off the walls, and the leather headboard was damaged and flaking. Worst of all, there were mice in our room! It was gnawing on the headboard, running through our suitcases, and even along the walls. When we went downstairs to report it, we also saw a mouse in the restaurant area. In the end, we received a full refund and left the hotel. In short: the hotel is very dirty, and there are mice running around. However, the staff did help us well, which is why I'm still giving 2 stars. I hope that they are able to fix this problem. But we will not be coming back here.
