Hotel Wachau

One of the best hotels I have ever been a guest of. Very nice and helpful staff. Absolutely amazing restaurant, especially for dining, but also excellent breakfast. The location is quite close to the highway, but still quiet, as there is a hill separating the hotel from it. One can walk about 15 minutes to the Melk Abbey or the town center

I think it's a family business, but it was really nice! The gentleman from reception was approachable (we reached after 9pm) and the lady from the breakfast was lovely. It's really close to the highway, minutes away. There is a petrol station nearby.

Hotel Wachau is well located if you have a car. Otherwise it’s a mile uphill from the centre. The food was delicious. The bedroom was large but much too hot to sleep well as there is no air conditioning and not even a fan to cool the air down a little.

The hotel has a nice decor, good breakfast, lovely attentive staff and responsive reception staff. The room was reasonable albeit no air conditioning on a warm night, however the rolling hills made up for this. My only negative comments would be that the 2 chair covers in the room were stained and the stairwell to the garage parking could do with a clean. Otherwise a 1 km walk to the amazing town - perfect place to stay if travelling along the river.

This is a wonderful hotel with everything you need for a restful stay. Our room was spacious and well-appointed. Our only disappointment (no fault of the hotel) was that is quite removed from the historic area of Melk. As we were cycling, we didn't feel like walking or cycling back into the old part of the city to explore. Our evening dinner at Hotel Wachau was outstanding if not a little expensive. Breakfast the next morning was also outstanding. No complaints at all.

The hotel was very clean and well appointed. They left us chocolate bars and a small bottle of wine (both from the region) in our room. The people working there were very friendly and helpful. They lent us great bikes which we used to bike from Melk to Krems. (A Rick Steves idea, and very fun!) We ate both dinner and breakfast there and were very impressed with the quality of the venue and the food. You can sit out on a beautiful outdoor patio, if you like. Our after dinner drinks were served in glasses that were once owned by the owner's mother. This family puts their hearts into their work, and it shows. The owner's wife makes an amazing apricot jelly which you can buy to take home.

The Hotel is very good with nice view from the window on the landscape behind the hotel. The restaurant is excellent with good varieties of food and fresh fruit drinks. The front desk lady does not give any help or touristic or transportation advice. The hotel is 2 km away from the train station and the bus service is every 2 hours, a taxi is a must.

Roomy rooms, very good internet and parking, excellent breakfast with espresso, fresh orange juice machine (self-service, yes!). Owners very friendly. Just outside Melk, which in itself is highly recommended. I will do separate review of the restaurant, which is fabulous.
