Our experience with the hotel is just exceptionally amazing! From its location, the room and the service, I don’t think we can complain anything. The Walther family is extremely friendly and welcoming. The staff in the hotel, from front desk to the restaurant to the spa, they are just so well-trained, absolutely highest standard of presentation of the Swiss hospitality! Thank you once again for making our second-time experience with Pontrasina so unforgettable. We wish to come back again soon!

A Magical Stay – Exceptional in Every Way||We stayed at Hotel Walther last night and it was, quite simply, exceptional. From the moment we arrived, we felt truly looked after – we were collected from the train station and personally greeted at the hotel by the owner, which set the tone for a stay that went far beyond our expectations.||The service throughout was warm, friendly, and incredibly helpful. We were generously upgraded to a beautiful room with a view overlooking the mountains – a breathtaking sight to wake up to.||The hotel itself is like something out of a fairy tale, full of charm and elegance. Breakfast was a real highlight, with a wide and delicious variety of options. We also enjoyed a massage during our stay – the therapist was outstanding, one of the best we’ve experienced anywhere.||The spa facilities were fantastic, with a range of hot and cold sauna experiences that left us feeling completely relaxed and rejuvenated.||Every detail was perfect. Hotel Walther is a rare gem – luxurious, welcoming, and unforgettable. We’ll definitely be returning.

Wonderful. I booked a single room, requested a traditional style, everything was met. The staff, the food, the room, amenities (hand cream and a feet mask in the room!). Kudos to the receptionists, they were truly wonderful from start to finish. Highly recommended.

The hotel is a classic Swiss family owned and managed luxurious hotel. It occupies an imposing six story building towards the southern end of Pontresina just off the main street, which is fairly traffic free. It is a member of Relais & Chateaux association and has about 70 bedrooms.||Hotel organised a driver to collect us from Samedan train station and likewise transported us to Pontresina station on our departure.||On our arrival we were welcomed by the Mrs Anne-Rose Walther, who was also there to wish us a pleasant trip on our departure. Her husband Thomas made the point of introducing himself to guests at the evening meals.||We had a comfortable bedroom with superb views across the valley to the high mountains. The bathroom was a bit small but well appointed. When eating in the hotel you are spoilt for choice. From the formal Grand restaurant to the Gondolezza restaurant that serves fondue and raclette in an old enormous cable car.||The hotel team were highly professional and provided an excellent service. The impression was that many of them had worked for the hotel for many years and all were committed to upholding the high level of quality that permeates the organisation.||The historical building, it was built in 1907, was superbly maintained and the quality of the fixtures and fittings is second to none. The public rooms were spacious, quiet and ideal for enjoying afternoon tea and cakes after our strenuous cross-country skiing activities. For the energetic, there is also an indoor swimming pool, spa and steam room.||In summary, stay here if you have the opportunity. Lastly, the hotel was most welcoming to small children. However, it’s not for the fur coat fraternity who should feel more at ease in St Moritz.

I stayed at this beautiful hotel owned by a family but under the Relais & Chateaux brand, and I have to say that my partner and I were really charmed by this property.|They welcomed us and our dog in such a friendly way; everyone from the front office team to the restaurant team was very nice and super professional.|A huge BRAVO goes to the bar team for preparing one of the best Bloody Marys of our lives, thank you chef for serving us an exquisite Bündner Gerstensuppe. Thanks also for the wonderful breakfast buffet with high quality ingredients and excellent service.|And a big thank you to the Trattoria restaurant; I am Italian and I must say that I am not often impressed by the quality of the food. |PS: book this place if you travel with a dog, it’s a super dog-friendly 😍

We just returned from an amazing week (Feb 15-Feb 22, 2025) at The Hotel Walther. I cannot recommend this hotel highly enough. Our Engadin Suite was impeccably clean, beautiful and spacious, with a fantastic view of the mountains in front of the hotel. The suite allowed us to separate our children’s area from us, with a sliding wood door. The bathroom had an enormous tub and walk-in shower, with two sinks. The housekeeping service was fabulous.||We were on half-board, and the dinners were 5 courses of culinary excellence. The wait staff was friendly and professional, with special mention going to waiter Daniele who was amazing. Breakfasts were actually my favorite meal, and I always arrived early, so that I could spend a little extra time lingering in the dining room before heading off to the slopes.||The Walthers are excellent hosts, and they were always around the hotel, frequently saying hello, to see how everything was going. After skiing, there were afternoon pastries in the lobby area. Although the traditional Engadin pastries were not my favorite, it was a pleasure to relax in the lounge where a fabulous piano-player entertained. The same musician entertained in yet another lounge in the evening, and he was extremely talented, and I wish I had spent more time listening to his piano and singing. In the evening, before dinner, we often enjoyed the serene indoor pool, sauna area and hot tub. |||My family of four skied every day. We used the hotel limo/shuttle to get to Celerina in the morning (CHF 20 per ride). The drivers were right on time, and professional. In the afternoon, we often rode the local bus from Celerina to Pontresina. It left every half hour, and dropped us off almost directly in front of the hotel.||Skiing conditions were absolutely fabulous. Sunny weather every day, and great snow. We rented our equipment from Ski-Service Corvatsch (reasonably priced, great online reservations, multiple locations both at the base of Celerina and at the midstation, up the gondola). We paid a little extra to have them store our boots and skis at the midstation (in Marguns). Every day began with a shuttle to the Celerina gondola, then a ride up to Marguns. After retrieving our boots and skis at Marguns each day, we left our ski bag by the Marguns restaurant and took the chairlifts to explore Corviglia, Piz Nair, Suvretta, Salastrains, etc etc. Lunch at Marguns is a feast. And hot chocolate at the various mountain bars is so relaxing. Marguns bar, Chamana and the Alpina restaurant were great for a hot drink break. We had pizza and Carbonara one afternoon on the rooftop at Marguns, and that is a very special treat. We reserved ski lessons for our children with the St Moritz Ski school, and similar to Ski-service, they have a fabulous app that makes it simple.||My heartfelt thanks to The Walthers for making this one of our best family vacations ever! We cannot wait to return!||Daniel K.

A magnificent old style, family-run hotel in winter paradise. Wonderful, comfortable rooms and outstanding service (from the moment you show up until you drive away at the end of your stay). Doggies welcome and allowed in most spaces, the dining room being an exception. Exceptional cuisine, not to mention the gala dinner on New Year's eve..! A lovely spa, a functional ski-room (with individual lockers with "shoe dryers"), a large afternoon tea lounge and a cosy bar with live music. The owners, Mr and Mrs Walther (3rd generation), bring their warm personal touch to the establishment and go out of their way to make all feel welcome. This probably explains that many guests have been there before, some for many years! We too shall return!

We really enjoyed our recent stay at the hotel Walther. We were made to feel welcome right away and given a room in line with the preferences we expressed. All staff seemed really friendly, helpful and well-trained. Our room was lovely and had a balcony overlooking Pontresina and the mountains beyond. The hotel is really well placed to reach all the nearby attractions and the bus stop is right outside the entrance. ||What we particularly enjoyed was the meals included in our half board package. We have stayed in many 5 star hotels including the Ritz in London and St Regis Bora Bora and the food was so exquisite in the Grand restaurant at hotel Walther that we felt it was on par with the best restaurants we have had the pleasure to sample. I would thoroughly recommend taking the half board package, and not bothering with the other restaurants for dinner. I would however, suggest having lunch or an afternoon snack at Gondolezza, as it is a unique experience having delicious fondue in an old Cable Car gondola. ||Our 8-year-old son really enjoyed playing in the kids' room and would leave our table as soon as he had finished his main course. This allowed him to have fun with other kids and for us to have some time to enjoy the rest of our meal as a couple. However, my one criticism would be that it would be great if there was some supervision in the playroom as some of the behaviour in there was unruly, i.e. children jumping on top of one another and throwing balls from the ball pit around. Nonetheless our son enjoyed the experience and we were all very sad to leave this magnificent hotel.
