Hotel Weihrerhof

I arrived with my wife from a very sticky Verona by car, feeling fairly depleted, and rather like Hans Castorp arriving on The Magic Mountain. And sure enough we were welcomed with a drink by Klaus, the owner/proprietor, and I began to feel waves of wellness float over me immediately. ||The hotel is quite unique. It is family run and has a very personal, understated quality about it. The surroundings are incredibly beautiful. From the dining terrace one sits looking over the small lake to a vista of rather gothic mountains in the distance.|The food is delicious, wholesome and excellent. Accompanied by a generous buffet for those who wish to supplement it. And, of course, the superb wines of Alto Adige.||The staff are charming and efficient. The bedrooms spacious and comfortable.|Plus one gets the Ritten Card - for free transport on trains and cable cars to all the many local resorts and attractions.|At the end of our week I was refreshed, renovated and raring to go. What more can I say?|We shall be back!

We stayed with our family for one week at Hotel Weihrerhof and we really can recommend this hotel as a lovely, wonderful, comfortable, friendly and quite hotel with perfect and friendly service. Stay there and you will get more than expected.||||The hotel Weihrerhof is located in the north of Bozen (South Tyrol) and is about 900m higher then Bozen itself. To get to this lovely hotel you can either use your car and take all the windy curves and the street up to the Ritten plateau or you can take the cable car from Bozen to Oberbozen and the train (tram) from Oberbozen to Wolfsgruben.||Whatever you chose and take you will find the private owned hotel next to the Wolfsgrubener See - a small lake on the Ritten plateau.||The hotel itself has to buildings - the main building with lobby area, welcome/reception desk, bar, restaurant, pool area and part of the rooms. The second building located about 15 meters away accommodates the SPA area and some more rooms. In total there are about 23-25 guest rooms.||Once you parked your car on the parking lot or in the garage and you entered the hotel you will be welcomed in a familiar and friendly way. The owner itself or there staff will welcome you by hand shake, will ask you about your journey/travel and will bde open minded to all your wishes and requests.||Next to/opposite the welcome desk you will find a cosy area to sit down/wait/relax or just to talk or inform about area and activities as well as you will find some toys for kids and families. In the evening this area will be used as bar area.||After this reception/lobby area you either can enter the restaurant with a view to the small lake or you can use the elevator/stairs to get to your room.||In the main restaurant they serve breakfast and dinner - we stayed for a half board service - and breakfast is served as buffet style. Dinner would be served as a four course menu and you have to chose during breakfast what you will eat in the evening.||Upstairs you will find the guest rooms and they all equipped with a double bed, a sofa or sitting area, a bath with shower or tub, toilet and sink. As well all rooms have a balcony but not all are faced to the lake side.||For breakfast you will find everything you need - different rolls and bread as well as ham, cheese, marmalade, juices, eggs and coffee varieties.||In the downstairs level the hotel offers an inside pool and a SPA and wellness area where you can order and get different treatments.||Outside the hotel building you will find a huge garden with a playground for kids, a small and private island for guests (e.g. for private dinner), a deck to swim in the lake, two small boats free for guests to use, sun chairs and a terrace for breakfast, lunch or coffee breaks. ||||But most important is that you will find an owner who is really interested in his guests and all your wishes. So the service noticed from the first day on, what we liked to drink and they served coffee during breakfast and drinks during dinner without any further questions. The read your wishes from your lips and they are all the time helpful, friendly and familiar to you - you will feel like being at home!!!||||Based on this perfect service, the location of the hotel, the amenities you will find (like pool, SPA, play ground for kids ....) we really can recommend this hotel as a great location/venue for a comfortable stay.

This hotel is great at making you feel rich, thanks to the vest and a lot of nice little curated details, like a pillow menu - yea you read that right - and a games chest full of tabletop games and cards. I really loved paddling on the lake as well as kayaking and rowing on the lake with the free equipment, the pool and sauna were nice too. In my opinion though it falls a bit short on the restaurant: I often didn’t enjoy the too traditional menu and would often find myself wanting to go for the “kinder” options. There are many small sofisticated gourmet courses, which may be a quality you like, but i prefer fewer big tasty courses. Solid 8/10

We stayed at the Hotel Weihrerhof in late June several years ago and my kids are still talking about it. Every time we're asked about our Italy vacation, they recommend other families visit and I'm finally getting around to writing a review. The Renon plateau is gorgeous and the Hotel Weihrerhof is a unique experience. ||||We travelled to Venice and rented a car do drive to the Dolomites then the Lake district. I was a little uncertain about the Weihrerhof since when I booked it there weren't any reviews in English. We were the only American family staying at the Hotel, which was a wonderful experience for our children. ||||The staff, food and accommodations were great. We utilized the boats and the tennis courts. We rode the railway to the end and back and visited the bee museum. We rode the cable car to Bolzano to see Otzi the iceman was a fun adventure, although we couldn't wait to get back to the Renon plateau where it was cooler.||||We highly recommend a stop here to experience a different part of Italy.

I stayed in Hotel Weihrerhof and can honestly say that the people who run the hotel, family owned, are the most kind hearted friendly people that I have ever met in a hotel. They go out of their way to make you feel welcome. The hotel is very beautiful with great lake and mountain views. The room I had was excellent, the food in the restaurant was excellent, and the breakfast was outstanding. I am already planning my next stay. Auf deutsch, das Hotel war ausgezeichnet und ich kann kaum warten bis ich wieder hinfahren kann. Die Inhaber sind so warmherzig und freundlich und man fühlt sich wirklich wohl im Weihrerhof!

My family and I had a very nice stay at Hotel Weihrerhof for 4 nights. The family who runs the place does a great effort. The food is excellent, and the service is good and really personal. You almost feel like a part of the family. ||||My only complaint, and this is a very small thing, is that they close their internet at 22.00 - apparently to avoid disturbing guest with radio waves, never heard that one before. Also, the login to their wifi is a bit annoying, because you're kicked of every hour. Apart from this, everything was just perfect.
