Hotel / Weingut Meintzinger (Frickenhausen, Bavaria) 3 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"A hotel and winery in the Bavarian village of Frickenhausen, by the side of the Main river, this unique lodging is historically inspired but modern in its vision. Behind the heavy stone walls of the Hotel / Weingut Meintzinger lie 29 rooms that mix antique and contemporary elements, never shying away from modern colors and a bold graphic sensibility. There’s a well-equipped spa that’s as stylish as the accommodations, wine tastings are available, and a substantial breakfast is served in the dining room, which remains open all day for light bites and access to the public wine fridge." - Tablet Hotels

On the outside amazing. We were there for 2 nights. Firstly we were given the 3 floor the attic . There is no lift and we had a lot of luggage as we were travelling over Europe for 15 days on work. To haul that luggage up was HELL there was no lift and believe it or not no AC or fans. It was mindblowingly hot. Finally after asking we got a fan. The next day we asked them to clean our room and told us they clean 1 time in 2 days. Now this is the first time I heard something this crazy. So we came to an unmade bed dirty cups all over. When I was doing my yoga practice I could see balls of dust under the bed. So I ended up using their towel and mopping the floor😋 Breakfast was good. And when we left we got 2 wine bottles so that was a tiny upper.

This was the best hotel we stayed at whilst cycling the Main Radweg. Situated in the heart of a picturebook village next to the river.||We arrived in the middle of the wine harvest and parked our bikes securely - welcome was good and the Hotel is comfortable, stylish and well designed. The staircase leading up the first and second floors are beautiful.||The rooms were well equipped, spacious, comfortable and as far as i was concerned quiet - perhaps that was due to the exhaustion from cycling many kilometers into a howling headwind.||We did try the wines in the adjoining tasting room and found the tope ones to be delicious.||The breakfast was simply awesome.||This will be a place to return with Mrs Randwick Bakery!

Good:|Beautiful, design-led hotel. The room was large and comfortable, and the ceiling fan was effective. ||Nice to have the honesty bar, especially when watching the England game. ||Staff were responsive to emails on the same topic! ||Breakfast was extensive and tasty. A mix of the usual continental but very good quality and we both enjoyed thoroughly.||Parking was free and right in front of the hotel. It was centrally located in the town which was so beautiful. ||Bad: |The shower was a nightmare. When I first turned it on it shot water fiercely straight at the ceiling covering me and the bathroom in water. It didn't stay in place so had to be used like a hand held instead - reminded me of Japan. But absolutely not what you expect which is to be able to stand normally under a shower head and get clean.||Rooms should come with earplugs and certainly a warning! The church bells rang every quarter of an hour until at least midnight and then started again at 6am. Don't expected much sleep!||The usual, inconvenient European thing of two single beds pushed together with corresponding quilts - are we weird in the UK for wanting to sleep next to our partners without lying in a gap? ||We were on the second floor and the guy who eventually showed up to check us in didn't offer to help with our case which seemed rude. An email warning us would have been helpful so we could have packed a smaller overnight bag.||A minor point is that instead of a decent shower gel and shampoo there was a random cheap bottle of combined lying on our towels on the side of the bath. Could just do with upgrading to reflect the design quality.

If this was a restaurant, it would deserve a Michelin star. Or rather a Bib Gourmand, since the overall experience is really impressive - without being overly pricey or "art for art's sake". Bravo! And the surroundings are great, too. PS: Picture of the self-service "honesty" fridge - nice touch.

We stayed at this hotel for an overnight during a traveling trip by car. The hotel is quite nice, somewhere between modern and traditional. We booked one of the larger rooms. The best thing about our room was the bathroom/shower room, it was really nice made, newly renovated. The room itself perhaps a bit too traditional for our taste and it becomes really difficult to maintain a large traditional room in terms of dust and webs. I guess it comes down to taste but we felt a bit lost in the room and preferred spending most of our time in the wine lounge area and the restaurant which was really cozy and homely. The rooms could use a bit of re-designing in my opinion but its personal taste. Friendly staff. Had it been for the room only we would have probably landed at 3 stars but the rest of the experience and areas of the hotel made up for 4 stars. Breakfast has a lot of different options, I would probably have reduced the options and focused on less products of higher quality, also I'm really tired of seeing the automatic coffee machines in breakfast rooms. You cannot get a really good coffee from those machines, its just not possible. I would return but hoping they will make the rooms slightly more cozy as well.

Visiting Hotel / Weingut Meintzinger was an incredible experience. I have no complaints, only compliments. Being an architect myself, I can appreciate all the attention to detail. The hotel has expertly merged the materiality of the old buildings with the more contemporary additions. This beautiful place is authentic and truly representative of its development over time. Together with the interior, friendly staff, delicious wine and the wider beauty of Frickenhausen, I could not had asked for a better way to spend my time in Germany. Special thanks to Philipp Meintzinger and his family who were very hospitable. (And Emma, the Australian Shepherd, for doing her rounds and checking everything was running smoothly). I highly recommend this unique place situated in a community of wonderful people.

Great experience! A historic building with top notch contemporary interior design style makes this a memorable stay. Great wine that can be tasted in the launch. We bought some more bottles to bring home. Will come back.

We had the House of Friends, a building owned by the hotel, to ourselves and we had a wonderful time living in the wine town. First, the town is beautiful, entering through the tower gates and then to the winery/hotel in the center of town. Service is impeccable. The breakfast ladies are the best and the buffet is massive and well done. Front desk services supports, separately, the winery and the hotel. The House of Friends is a short walk from the main hotel through the churchyard. It is two bedrooms, each with separate large bathrooms and separate sitting areas, with a kitchen 30 Euro to use the facilities other than the fridge, a sauna 25 euro to use the sauna and separate living area. The entrance has a glass door on the floor looking to the wine caves below. Parking is in-front of the house. It is quiet here. Two restaurants in town. The wines produced are amazing, especially the sylvaner. Walk through the vineyards and views across the Main river. Amazing.
