First impressions weren’t great. The hotel is on the main road in the village centre which was choked with tour buses when we arrived. The hotel has a strangely small doorway with two stiff glass doors. I risked making a comedy entrance as my back pack wouldn’t fit through the gap. I was greeted by a teenage desk clerk playing video games in a room adjoining reception. Again, not good first impressions. ||After waiting an hour for the room to be cleaned (strange as the hotel certainly wasn’t full) we were given the key to a 2nd floor room. Things began to improve.||The room was large, brightly decorated and clean. It had a large double bed which proved to be very comfy- I had an excellent nights sleep. The bathroom was small but functional with hot water from a slightly temperamental shower housed in a rickety shower unit. The room had a view towards the distant Lake Titicaca across the road and behind some buildings. These actually served to shield us from the pretty ugly beachfront scene with tacky swan pedalos, zorbs and jet skis. It was Easter weekend and the scrubby beach was full and looked horrific!||The hotel is in need of a bit of a makeover. It has a courtyard which isn’t used, and a restaurant which is closed, aside from the average buffet breakfast. The staff are mostly teenagers- non speak any English.||However, the price was okay at $25 per night. In summary, the hotel has potential to be quite nice given a bit more effort and the room was very good for the price. Clean and functional and okay for a one night stay, but I doubt Copacabana would keep you longer than that anyway!|
