Hotel White, Shimla – A Stay with Pros and Cons
Our recent stay at Hotel White in Shimla was a blend of good and not-so-good experiences. Let’s start with the positives.
The location is quite convenient—very close to Mall Road and The Ridge, which are the main attractions in Shimla. The staff is courteous and helpful, always trying their best to make your stay comfortable. Some of the rooms, especially the valley view ones, offer beautiful sights of the hills and town below, making mornings and evenings quite delightful.
However, there are certain things to keep in mind. The hotel does not have its own restaurant, though they do arrange basic breakfast and snacks, which are decent. Reaching the hotel could be challenging for some travelers, especially senior citizens, as it is situated slightly uphill from Auckland Tunnel Road, and cars cannot go all the way up to the entrance.
While some rooms are neat and well-maintained, others could use better upkeep—the cleanliness and condition seem to vary. The amenities and decor feel a bit dated, reminiscent of the 1990s, and the hotel building itself shows signs of aging.
Overall, Hotel White is suitable for budget-conscious travelers looking for a centrally located stay with friendly service and scenic views. But if you’re expecting modern facilities or easy access for elderly guests, this might not be the best fit.
