Hotel-Wirtshaus Neumaier

The restaurant is highly recommended! Although the waiting time is long (>30min), the food is delicious and the staff are friendly!

Our stay started with a really friendly greeting from the reception staff to be then informed that due to our staying a number of days we had been upgraded to an apartment! Our room measured a massive 6m X 6m with separate ample storage for our clothing and excellent bathroom facilities with a top notch shower. Owing to our bedroom's position it provided total silence at night for several peaceful nights' sleep. Our accommodation was clean and the food was excellent with an really good choice of quality food provided for breakfast and we partook of an optional 'Oma's Braten' Sunday roast lunch. There was also secure parking for our vehicle. All in all we spent an excellent three nights here and were sad to leave.

This is the perfect place to stop! Friendly service, great, well-appointed room. The restaurant is a must stop. Dinner was fantastic and the breakfast buffet had everything we wanted. The center of town has great shopping and dining options too.

We arrived in Xanten late on an October evening. Saw the hotel on tripadvisor and whilst we were already in town decided to walk in and ask for rooms. The man on reception was very friendly and helpful. It was now 8.30pm. He informed us that the kitchen would close at 9pm, so we decided to head straight into the restaurant. Only one other couple in situ. We decided to go for their steaks..and they were excellent. Washed down with local beer and wine.|Parking was free they have a large car park to the rear of the hotel. WiFi is free. Unfortunately, our stay was very brief as we were on business and left early the next morning and didn’t sample the breakfast.|The young lady on reception again was very friendly and spoke English.|I will definitely return for a longer stay when I am next in the area.|Highly recommended.

The service staff was very friendly and the location is quite nice. They serve a variety of beers on draft - fine as well. The wine is quite highly priced for decent quality. Know the Rheinhessen winery - the bottle at home is about what they charge for 0,2 ... but ok ... price calculation ... could be ok. The soup was very good - but the rest of the food ... the salad was fresh but nearly tasteless. The mashed potatoes were homemade with the Krustenbraten, but the veggies were incredible ... originally deep frozen with hardly any taste. The salmon cap it all off - I was very hungry - the only reason why I ate it. Very small portion and cooked dead. Can’t remember to ever eat so dry salmon, which was supposed to have been special Ikarimi Salmon. Definitely would not go back to eat. 3* because of the service.

A friendly and service oriented hotel in downtown Xanten. Bright and large hotel rooms, friendly and very professional staff. The food is excellent (the portions -typical German- very big, the left-overs will be packaged for take-out). A butcher shop is associated with the hotel.

We stayed 1 night to visit the Roman museum in Xanten. Hotel Neumaier is a very nice hotel, clean, friendly staff, good breakfast, ... It has everything you need for a short holiday to visit the charming town and nature surrounding it. Unfortunately I had not the chance to enjoy their beer garden and restaurant. Perhaps next time? I already recommended it to family and friends.

I have stayed at this hotel many times. And each time I have been impressed by the service, the staff, the food, and to be fair everything else. It is just a few minutes walk to the centre of Xanten, and if you are into all things Roman, it is the perfect location for some serious Roman history. The other advantage is that after a hard day's work in Duesseldorf or the Ruhrgebiet in general, it is only a short drive to an evening of complete relaxation at Hotel Neumaier.
