These Are the Top Destinations for 2025, According to Amex Travel

"Hotel X Brisbane Fortitude is recommended for visitors to Brisbane, which is wedged between the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. The city offers a vibrant dining and nightlife scene, world-class museums, and is a surfer’s paradise." - Travel + Leisure Editors

These Hotels Are Making Remarkable Contributions to Their Local Communities, and Travelers Are Taking Notice

"Opened in December 2021, the hotel in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane had the hallmarks of a modern boutique: sleek, minimalist décor with pops of color, a rooftop bar serving creative, Spanish-influenced gin and tonics, and a guest app recommending nearby shops (including a chic menswear store a block away). It distinguishes itself most notably through the Youth Xcellence Program, an initiative for high school students pursuing hospitality: Hotel X has hosted 15 students for full-day immersions, advanced some into paid work experience in human resources, sales, and marketing, and plans a third phase of in-depth, paid vocational training conducted on site. The property is part of IHG’s Vignette Collection, which aims to blend responsibility, community, and locality for the next generation of luxury travelers." - Chadner Navarro Chadner Navarro Chadner Navarro is a writer and editor who specializes in travel, food, design, and culture. Hotel X Brisbane Fortitude Vly (Brisbane, Queensland) Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Fortitude Valley may sound like the name of a cowboy film or a remote western outpost; in fact it’s a hip and vibrant suburb of Brisbane, full of upscale shops and restaurants, and home to Hotel X Brisbane Fortitude Valley, an unmistakably modern concrete-and-glass structure that towers over its mid-rise surroundings. Aesthetically, it’s got all the panache of a one-off boutique hotel whose rakish style is its calling card. As it happens, it’s a member of IHG’s Vignette Collection, the edgier, more design-oriented arm of the InterContinental Hotels Group empire." - Tablet Hotels

Hotel X Brisbane Fortitude Valley is the perfect balance of luxury and comfort. I stayed here while working remotely and couldn’t have asked for a better setup. The rooms are beautifully designed, quiet, and spacious enough to work comfortably without feeling boxed in. Wi-Fi was fast and reliable the entire stay, which is always a huge plus. The location in Fortitude Valley is unbeatable — surrounded by great cafés, restaurants, and everything you need within walking distance. It made it incredibly easy to switch between work mode and downtime. One of my favorite parts was the rooftop pool — such a great place to unwind after a long day. The gym was also well equipped and never felt overcrowded. Staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming without being overbearing. If you’re visiting Brisbane for business or planning a workcation, I highly recommend Hotel X. It’s polished without feeling stuffy and makes staying productive feel effortless.

Disappointing stay this time. Last time hotel was amazing that I recall 2 years ago. I spoke to management about the air-conditioning not being cold in our room and they advised they would send someone to check it. No one checked. We melted all night. Not a good time especially in summer. We did get a bottle of wine free for our anniversary which was lovely as a gesture, but please fix your ac in room 111 or floor 1 as the walk way in main area on the floor was freezing but in room cannot be felt coming out of vent at all. Rooftop pool and bar is always amazing no complaints there 10/10

My family and I stayed in this hotel on 16 December 2025 as a result of a cancelled flight. Our Qantas flight from Brisbane to Singapore had to turn back due to an aircraft fault and we had to stay an additional night in Brisbane. As you can imagine, we were tired and stressed from the journey out and back, but the reception we got at Hotel X was so welcoming and comforting that it put us at ease immediately. I want to especially call out 2 staff, Karen and Ed who were working reception that evening. They were stand out staff who went out of their way to make us feel welcome and accommodate our unusual request. Another plus point about this hotel is the French inspired restaurant on the ground floor. I did not managed to get the waiter's name but he made some excellent recommendations about food and wine pairings. The roast chicken I had was so tasty and moist, and the Provencal Plat is a must have. 100% would stay here again.

Nice hotel, great location but sadly not 5 star at all. The room was a good size and well appointed but sadly attention to detail was lacking with cleaning. I pulled the hairdryer out to use it and it was covered in dust - no one had dusted the shelf in the bathroom ever I don’t think. The lighting wasn’t great in the bathroom or the room either. Parking is also an issue at this hotel - not enough parking and we had to park off site which was up a bit of a hill which wasn’t the best with a suitcase. Lastly, we were unable to enjoy the rooftop bar facility on one of our days due to a private function. While I understand it is Xmas party time, clearly paying guests are not important. These small issues made our stay not great. Wouldn’t stay here again.

This is a nice hotel in a good location in Fortitude Valley, in walking distance of the quayside and about a 40 min nice walk along the bridge and riverside to the south bank. However, this is not a ‘luxury 5 star’ hotel as they claim. Room was clean but attention to detail is not there, such a facing up of bathroom and mini bar items. Lovely rooftop pool but loungers not straightened or tables tidied. Room not made up on the first day at all and had to inform reception for them to ‘prioritise’ the next day. Very bold photographic floor to ceiling artwork of people in fancy dress in the bedroom and above the toilet felt cheapened the otherwise classically modern room. None of these things impacted the stay really - but if you call yourself ‘luxury’ these things matter.

Me and my partner stayed here for an extended period of 6 nights, the underground parking was $40 a night which I think is a bit absurd considering what the room cost a night and how long we where there. On top of that on arrival my partner went and checked in and was hit with a surcharge that wasn’t mentioned anywhere and then was told it’s a $100 dollar a night bond, I have never stayed anywhere that charges that much for a bond. Driving into the hotel reception there isn’t enough room for more than three cars otherwise they line up out onto the street and if your at the front of the line there isn’t enough room to reverse back, do not recommend this hotels parking for any car bigger than a Holden barina. We where told when we checked in that the parking cost and any room service would be taken out of the bond but when I checked out they tried to charge me again out of pocket for all of the costs. Don’t get me wrong the staff was lovely about everything but I think the hotel management itself has some unorthodox methods.

Close to Howard Smith Wharves and James Street makes it easy to get to the city, Newstead or a river walk. Rooftop pool and bar is fantastic. Just needs more shade options. Room was clean, modern equipped with all the standards you'd expect. Will definitely return.

I had a great staying here for three nights. I love the location near the New Farm Riverwalk where I enjoyed my morning runs and evening walks along the river. To reach the CBD, can take a bus from the closest stop about 3min walking. I also like the gym, although quite small but that’s not the big deal. See the short video from my window capturing the sunny morning (then hard raining a day after).
