From the minute, we checked in we were given a warm welcome by all the staff. We stayed for the week with our friends and couldn’t fault our experience. Lovely continental breakfast but with the added bonus of bacon and eggs if wanted. The hotel was spotless, with amazing housekeeping staff. The hotel pool was a bonus with a brilliant bar and fantastic G&Ts! We didn’t make use of the tennis court but it’s free for hotel guests. The central location for the village is great and the views from the balcony and terrace are stunning. Will definitely be back!

The lady at the reception desk was very warm and welcoming. The hotel sits on the top of a mountain and overlooks the valley, offering breathtaking views. That said, this is a remote location so plan accordingly. Expect an hour of driving to/from the airport, and at least a half-hour to the coast The food was great, but the service is just okay. Light breakfast fare, but of good quality. Nice spread of cheeses, breads, and juices. Coffee served at the bar. The patio is very nice to sit on to have dinner, especially when the weather is nice Parking is a bit of a hassle, but the lady at the reception desk did a very good job of explaining where to park/where not to park I cannot emphasize how friendly the lady was (I didn't think to ask her name).

It is getting very tired. Surprised to find the restaurant was closed in the evening as was the bar when we returned at 10pm. The room was large with lovely views but the towels were threadbare and generally the atmosphere was past its sell by date. The staff were very welcoming and it was a good value stay with a continental breakfast but would need modernising before we would revisit

Probably the best hotel in Competa. Had excellent views from the rooms, a pool which is very needed in the summer months, and super close to the center of town. Very friendly and helpful staff too. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking to stay in Competa.

I send a complaint regarding the pool, no reaction: July 4th, 2026 We came for swimming today. We paid € 30,00 for sunbeds and entrance. The pool did not look clear at all today. I wore a brand new white bikini today. As I came home I noticed my bikini had a yellowish creme colour. I do not think this should be the case. What solution can you give me?

Stayed here for 5 nights with our family in 4 rooms .All were superb with balconies.one was a bit dated but clean and functional with working air con. Dont know where the malicious reviews about the pool came from. It was perfect. Noticed they tested and cleaned it daily and filtered. The grandkids adored it. Breakfast good. Proper coffee fresh bread. Lunchtime again perfect fresh and amazing value. One of the best holidays weve had. Thank you Balcon especially Maria and Jude

The hotel is riding on its location. They are no responsive to their messages through Booking.com other than to expect people to call them long distance. They don't respond to SMS at their number either. The rooms while large enough and have good storage are in need of renovation. Very dated. Breakfast is dangerous: the fried eggs are made all at once and then set out uncovered on a plate that is not kept to temperature. The cheese slices and lunch meats SL is ces have a cover that only covers half the item. This serves no purpose as the flies enter. Also, not kept cold. The pool was cloudy and an odd shade of green. In general great location with parking.

Cómpeta is very hilly. The advantage of the hotel was that you could reach bars and restaurants on the flat ( almost) . Basic room, good shower, small, thin towels and no fridge.

Yelp
I want to point out that I've never stayed here but use the restaurant/terrace regularly. As its namesake suggests, this hotel is situated overlooking the mountains and valleys of Axarquia that graduate down to the coast and sea that stretches across to Morocco. It's south facing so very sunny and a great place to spend the evening to have dinner and drinks as the sun sets, whilst looking out over sea where you can see, on a clear day, the north African mountain range. - Very peaceful. Well it should be. Regularly, there were quite raucous local children kicking footballs, cycling and screaming all ignored by their parents. Kids will be kids but a restaurant/terrace is not the place. Not where you want to spend the evening literally dodging footballs. It's a real shame. Nice friendly staff. Good food and tapas with your drinks but sadly not a place that I can spend even 5 minutes!
