We are a senior couple and thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa Serena. The hotel lives up to its name. We had an enjoyable and relaxing week.. La Plata Beach is a 12 minute walk from the hotel where we were able to rent chairs 200 pesos each and enjoy a beautiful view under a shade tree. The water was warm, gentle and crystal blue. The beach has a restaurant and bathroom facilities. We also visited Paya Rincon another gorgeous beach about a half an hour drive away or shorter if you take a boat ride. The food at the hotel was very good. We walked seven minutes into Las Galeras for dinner three nights to enjoy a variety of food. we always felt safe in the area. The hotel staff is pleasant and accommodating. We enjoyed a massage twice and it was a nice way to end a relaxing day just sitting on the balcony in our rocking chairs or hammock looking at the beautiful ocean is a great way to spend a vacation as well. I can see why most people stays were two weeks rather than our short one week we hated to leave we look forward to returning next year. The pictures online accurately reflect the hotel.

This hotel is a true little paradise! I stayed on my own here for 4 nights and even extended for a bit. I had a room on the first floor with a great balcony with its own hammock and a spectacular view to the green garden and the ocean. Super clean and cozy room, super big too. Very quiet and idyllic garden and private beach. The breakfast is spectacular!!!|And the staff is helpful and friendly. I also felt super comfortable and safe staying there on my own. Would recommend to anyone!

We had a wonderful stay! The grounds are beautiful, with a fantastic garden and a calm, relaxing atmosphere. We even joined the yoga class with our kids—a lovely experience for the whole family. The small private beach was perfect for quiet moments. Pure peace and relaxation!

Villa Serena is very well named.||I can not think of anywhere in the world I have vacationed that has offered a more peaceful stay.||Beginning with the spectacular view and warm welcome by staff, my huband and I had immediate gratification that we had picked the perfect spot to relax for a few days. ||It was very quiet during our 4 day retreat but when we left today, Friday, it appeared a lot more people were coming in for the week-end. ||But during our booking period the restaurant was sparsely filled, we saw few people and heard no noise from our room, on the spacious balcony or anywhere on the hotel grounds.||And the sounds we did hear were delightful and life affirming: the lapping of waves, the songs of birds, a rooster crowing far off in the distance.||The hotel and grounds are immaculate, the food nicely presented, the walk to the beautiful La Playita public beach accessible and easy (though I did get a little lost returning). ||This was our 4th excursion to the Samana Peninsula....and by far the best one thanks to the natural beauty of Villa Serena.

Total mind blow! This retreat forced me to vacate all my worries and focus on total pleasure! Breathtaking views, beautiful accommodations, incredibly fresh, delicious ( and nutritious) foods and beverages, amazing waitstaff, eye-catching scenery, beach hopping, extreme peaceful seclusion, and exclusivity...There was NOTHING to want for.

Villa Serena is situated in a beautiful location with a small yet private beach. I reached out in advance and requested a specific room if available and was told it would be no problem but when we arrived we were placed in a room adjacent to the lobby and not quite the privacy I was hoping for. When I mentioned it to the manager her response was, they're all the same, not the warmest welcome from mgmt, clearly a room adjacent to the lobby it not the same as the one I asked for. The rooms are beautifully appointed with flowers yet desperately need upgrades as the smell of mold is pungent despite their best efforts to mask it with sprays. The bathroom toliet and tub were leaking, nearly hit my head on the shower from the slipping. Was unable to unpack my clothes in the closet because of the smell of mold. The extra pillows in the closet were saturated with mold smell, I had to put them in the hallway. The staff at the restaurant were all so polite & the food very good but dinner for 2 cost well over 6k pesos! 2 beers, 2 apps, 2 entrees, we didn't order anything fancy and paid NY prices. The place tacks on a 28% service fee! One can only hope it goes to the staff. It's unnecessarily expensive, it's better to head out into town for food. There are so many beautiful beaches but recommend La Playita we went twice, ate fresh fish & never spent over 3k pesos including chair rental. Was hoping to make this location the next for my 2025 company retreat but without mold remediation would not subject my team to it.
