We stayed here for 4 days, 3 nights. The hotel is nice and located in a quiet alley. Walking distance to the beach is below 5 minutes. They cleaned our room everyday. This is something you don't see often these days. Both pools were clean and accessible. The general location of the hotel is very good since we had access to 4-5 beautiful beaches within 15 minutes driving distance. Over all we were very happy with the attention we received and the value for the money. The pictures of the beach you see is the actual Potrero beach.

Place is extremely noisy. The property is located right by the busy main road. You will hear trucks, buses, motorcycles all day and night long. Secondly there’s construction all around the property starting at 7am even weekends. Rooms and are very rudimentary.

First off don’t believe the price posted on the internet. We showed up and were charged 50% more than the stated price. The reason given was that this was the last room. However, we never saw another guest, no lights on in any of the rooms and on our car and one other in the parking lot. Unlike the ad says, there are NO microwaves, coffee makers or refrigerators in the rooms. Although the ad says it is a 3 star hotel, it only posts 2 stars at the office. That, in my opinion is a stretch. With the exception of the air conditioner, the rooms have the appearance of not having been updated since the 1980’s. Unless you want to sit by the pool and provide a feast for the mosquitoes (provided it’s not raining, as there is no shelter), there is no place to sit and relax. Only 1 hard wooden chair in the room. We stayed in a room that had two beds neither one of which provided any comfort. Both mattresses were hard and we could feel every spring in them. That, combined with kids in the adjoining residential areas playing all night did not make for a restful sleep. The included “breakfast” was so disgusting that we went out to find something to eat and some drinkable coffee. The beach is close by but without a doubt is one of the most foul smelling beaches I’ve encountered. There are no places to eat or buy food nearby so a car is an absolute must. Without a doubt, the worst experience in Costa Rica after having been here several times.

Regular basic hotel. AC was barely working. Bathroom could've had better cleaning. Breakfast not included. Pool had leaves. TV had awful audio, fridge made weird sounds but nothing a good beating didn't fix.

On December 19, 2021 I had the opportunity to spend a couple nights at the Hotel and villas Isolina Beach. This hotel I find to be well located at Playa Potrero. It is quite comfortable as the rooms are built in independent cottage type structures that house from 1 to 4 rooms depending on the size and number of guests to be housed in the rooms. I did notice that due to the pandemic and the health restriction, that did not allow for guests to be received for almost 18 months, it has been a slow process to provide the total maintenance required for any structure in a saline atmosphere. That did not affect the service or quality of the place. Since hotels were allowed a 50% capacity I see that much of the needed maintenance has been worked on and is looking much better. The room was very clean, clean bathroom and a very comfortable bed. We had a ceiling fan and AC in the room which made it quite comfortable during the hot day. Even though the Hotel did offer a very good breakfast for its guests, the restaurant was not open for other meals due to health restriction set forth by the government due to Covid 19. One nice thing is we were able to use both pools and despite the 50% occupation permitted we did not hear any noises from other guests or traffic from the street. Also I found the personnel very helpful and friendly, happy to provide the information you need. Its location is a good location to use as a base of exploration to visit nearby beaches such as Tamariondo, Flamingo, Prieta and others Will I return? In my travels if I am within that area I sure will.

I had to cancel my trip because my passport was delayed. They had an opportunity to waive my cancelation fee but chose not to. Bad decisions have consequences. You will notice their response below mentioning cancelation policies. All the other hotels waived this fee except for this hotel. They have plenty of notice to rebook the room but instead they want to try and gauge a customer. Beware of this establishment...and good luck trying to collect that money!

Hotel Isolina is quiet, clean, friendly, and quaint. The gorgeous beach of Playa Portrero is a block away, and is amazingly beautiful and underdeveloped. Each time we have been there we ran into only a few other people, so it is very romantic. The hotel pool is fairly large and has plenty of lounge chairs with choices both in the sun and in the shade. The gardens are lovely, with lots of flowers and tropical birds flying about and singing. There is a free full nica breakfast of your choice with coffee and juice every morning. We love it here, and will definitely come back!

The property is nice but the actual rooms and general hotel management are 👎not good at all. They forgot to put hand towels in the bathroom so we had to ask for them, and they gave us 1 rag that was dirty. 🤦‍♀️ so I asked for a different one and the girl working responded with "its not dirty that just how they all look like because they're old" 🤦‍♀️ If they're that old they should definitely be thrown out. AC made the room smell like electricity burning. And the shower head electrocuted me!!! THATS SOO BADDD. I was so lucky that it didn't shock me badly when I was adjusting it. Clearly I do not recommend.
