"How did it strike you on arrival?Beyond an untidy metal lattice-clad exterior is a surprisingly on-point lobby that resembles a hip co-working space, with long tables and workbenches, a cafe-bar and mod industrial-chic chandeliers. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Young hipsters, backpackers on a "splurge night", those looking to strike a balance between a great stay and a good price. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Superior Double Balcony View. At 49-square-feet it wasn't a space to lounge around in, but it's cleverly designed so I didn't lack anything, from bedroom slippers to a wine opener. Two mid-size suitcases would be a real squeeze though. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The mattress was on the soft side but that didn't prevent me from getting a restful sleep. Nothing special about the sheets and pillows. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? The free mini-bar selection (Coke, water, potato chips and M&Ms, replenished daily) was a pleasant surprise especially at this price point. Would steal: The rather stylish custom-designed coat rack in black and bronze. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Shower area was a bit small and screened from the bedroom by a curtain. Water pressure was ok. A nice touch were the fairly thick towels and soft grey bathrobes. The products (house brand) included handmade organic soap that the hotel says helps keep skin moist in Singapore's tropical climate. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word? The signal was strong and it was free. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The in-house cafe only serves beers, but there are plenty of cafes and bars nearby. No pool either but the community pool at the Jalan Besar Swimming Complex is only a few minutes walk. A rooftop chillout area is in the works. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?Memorable: Being smack in the middle of Singapore's hipster cafe hub. Heartbreaking: The rooms can be smaller than expected. Prep yourself for truly tiny. Bottom line: worth it, and why? It's got cool rooms in a hipster neighborhood close to plenty of popular cafes. Quality, design-centric accommodation plus good prices is very rare in Singapore." - Audrey Phoon

You definitely get what you pay for at this place and I’d say to make sure you’re very comfortable with your partner if you’re sharing a room. All the facilities are crammed into one very small room, meaning you can see and hear your partner showering or using the toilet. The rooms are very tall, but they’ve made no use of this height, giving you no space to store or hang anything. There was also very limited shampoo and shower gel too. The staff at the desk were very friendly though and the place was clean and tidy generally. If you’re planning to use this solely as a base then it is adequate, but definitely not somewhere to relax.

The hotel is in a good location, it’s walking distance to 2-3 different MRT lines. It is also convenient as it is on the same line from the Airport. There are many restaurants and cafe around the area and also a convenient shop nearby. The room is very small , but comfortable. Personally I don’t like the toilet and the shower separated. There’s only a small mirror above the basin and i don’t see a hairdryer in the room. There aren’t a lot of space for luggage. So if you’re more than 1 person and have a mid to large size suitcase, you’ll need to take turns to open up the suitcase as there only a small space in front of the bed to put bags. The walls is abit thin, so sometimes you’ll hear noises from outside/neighbours. All in all, it’s a good value for money.

Good location, walking distance to 2 mrts, quiet area. Nicely decorated lobby, with a rustic feel. Minimal usage of lights from the lift to the rooms. Acceptable for those who just only need a place to clean up and rest for a short 2 to 3 nights in singapore: comfortable queen bed for literally 2 person max, strong shower and toilet. Receptionists are all super friendly. You can ask for more toiletries as the ones provided are not enough for 2 person. If you are concern about space or want to relax, do not book this hotel. There is no wardrobe or walkway to the bed. Open the door and its the shower room, the toilet and a large sink towards the bed. There is no space to put your luggage, only a small luggage stand for 1 small luggage and that’s it. Everthing else will need to be placed on the floor. The space should only be for 1 single bed for 1 person to have some space to move around. It is too cramped. Wouldn’t say cleanliness/hygiene is great: there were little fruit flies in the room, i believe from the sink that is just 2 steps from the bed. The bathroom and toilet are just next to the bed as well. Tea cups are actually placed in the bathroom since its next to the entrance which is in front of the toilet. To note that the bath/toilet/sink are seperated from the bed with a curtain. Carpets to the rooms were not vacuumed well. I would probably try a different hotel the next time I’m there.

You get what you pay for. The rooms are small and walls paper thin but for the price and location, it can't be beat. Rooms are clean and front desk is great. Highly recommend.

I had a very nice stay at this cool hotel. The lobby is nice to hang out & catch up on work. The staff was helpful with directions or helping me get a taxi. The location has plenty of restaurant choices and close to shopping. Great rates, the room was clean & had everything I needed.

Hotel Yan is a good place for a short stay. Our room was not much larger than the bed (although the bed was huge), so you are not going to want to spend much time hanging around in your room. The room was clean, although the wallpaper was peeling and we lost power at one stage. It is very well located - close to Metro and buses with, surprisingly for Singapore lots of good options nearby.

I just stayed for 1 night here due to Taylor Swift The Eras Tour night 1 show on 2 March 2024. It was good for 1 pax to sleep, shower 🚿 and toilet break. The room was clean and comfy. The sockets for charging were in good condition too. Besides, before I left the hotel, the receptionist was kind to help me to call taxi to Changi Airport. Thank you so much for the good services plus playing Taylor Swift's songs during my stay.

Room slightly smaller than the hotels around the area but I think price is very reasonable! I wish they have a bigger rubbish bin and consistent of water heating. Showering halfway and water turning cold. Me and my husband usually stay around Jln Basar when we come to SG. Location was great and it’s quiet on our side of the room. Love it.
