Hotel Yan

"How did it strike you on arrival?Beyond an untidy metal lattice-clad exterior is a surprisingly on-point lobby that resembles a hip co-working space, with long tables and workbenches, a cafe-bar and mod industrial-chic chandeliers. Nice. What’s the crowd like?Young hipsters, backpackers on a "splurge night", those looking to strike a balance between a great stay and a good price. The good stuff: Tell us about your room.Superior Double Balcony View. At 49-square-feet it wasn't a space to lounge around in, but it's cleverly designed so I didn't lack anything, from bedroom slippers to a wine opener. Two mid-size suitcases would be a real squeeze though. We’re craving some deep, restorative sleep. They got us?The mattress was on the soft side but that didn't prevent me from getting a restful sleep. Nothing special about the sheets and pillows. How about the little things, like mini bar, or shower goodies. Any of that find its way into your suitcase? The free mini-bar selection (Coke, water, potato chips and M&Ms, replenished daily) was a pleasant surprise especially at this price point. Would steal: The rather stylish custom-designed coat rack in black and bronze. Please tell us the bathroom won’t let us down.Shower area was a bit small and screened from the bedroom by a curtain. Water pressure was ok. A nice touch were the fairly thick towels and soft grey bathrobes. The products (house brand) included handmade organic soap that the hotel says helps keep skin moist in Singapore's tropical climate. Maybe the most important topic of all: Wi-Fi. What’s the word? The signal was strong and it was free. Anything stand out about other services and features? Whether it’s childcare, gyms, spas, even parking—whatever stuck with you.The in-house cafe only serves beers, but there are plenty of cafes and bars nearby. No pool either but the community pool at the Jalan Besar Swimming Complex is only a few minutes walk. A rooftop chillout area is in the works. What was most memorable—or heartbreaking—about your stay?Memorable: Being smack in the middle of Singapore's hipster cafe hub. Heartbreaking: The rooms can be smaller than expected. Prep yourself for truly tiny. Bottom line: worth it, and why? It's got cool rooms in a hipster neighborhood close to plenty of popular cafes. Quality, design-centric accommodation plus good prices is very rare in Singapore." - Audrey Phoon

Our four-day stay at the property with family was a pleasant and comfortable experience. The room was spacious, the bed generously sized and cozy, and the housekeeping service was consistently attentive. While the bedsheets were perfectly clean, they did show minor signs of wear. The furnishings overall were well-maintained. The shower and toilet area are separated by a glass partition with a curtain—an arrangement that may feel a bit less private for some guests. Nonetheless, the amenities provided were thoughtful, and the room remained quiet and fresh throughout our stay."

Rooms are quite small, but the bed is very comfortable. The hotel provides handy amenities like a toothbrush, shaving kit, shampoo and water. The location isn’t bad – it's in Little India, and just a few MRT stops from the city centre. Great for a short, convenient stay in Singapore.

The hotel has a good location, with convenient access to nearby amenities such as 7-Eleven, local kopitiams, and a variety of restaurants and cafes. However, the room lighting is a bit too dim, which may not be ideal for tasks like applying makeup. Additionally, some rooms do not come with a hair dryer, so guests may need to request one from the reception.

It was clean and comfortable. All the necessary amenities are provided. Even had a complimentary mini bar! Room is small but expected for solo traveller. It was quiet but only issue is aircon blows straight to the legs while sleeping. Needing to adjust the aircon flap

The hotel is a a bit far from mrt but convenient shop and 7-11 is just less than 5mins walk. You can even see the coffeeshop opposite the hotel. Good location. Soundproof not very strong but bearable.

Had a really great stay at Hotel Yan! The location is super convenient—just a short walk to the MRT, which made getting around so easy. The hotel itself was clean, stylish, and comfortable. Honestly, everything from the room to the staff to the vibe of the place was spot on.

Cool industrial-chic hotel. The room was clean and functional but TINY! Didn't realise just how small it was going to be. Would be okay for one person but for two of us it took careful choreography to do anything as there is only a few meters of space beside the bed.

Firstly I’ll state I booked the superior double room.. it’s small but good enough for me travelling solo. I’d imagine it would driver you mad as a couple ! safe under bed. No wardrobe but I don’t normally hang anything up.. Super Aircon (although maybe to do with room size) Nice job with presentation, looks great with all the little extras set against a concrete theme.. Staff really helpful and nice.. Receptionists set the tone for your first impression of a new country , and I was impressed .. Location is great. 10 Min walk from train, 7-eleven just across the road, bar/restaurant opposite. (10 second walk ) .

Yelp
TL;DR: A lovely modern stay that probably best suits one person, though a bit pricey. Needed a hotel to stay at for a couple of days when first arriving in Singapore, and Hotel YAN was offering a premium double room at a rate of SGD$140 a night after taxes and fees. I had a late night arrival at around 2 am, which they were happy to accommodate, and check in was incredibly smooth, with no need for a deposit. Check out was incredibly easy as well, just dropping off the keycards at the front desk. The room was spotless when I arrived, and I loved the modern aesthetic and tall ceilings right away. It was a little small, but that is to be expected given its location in Singapore. The shower was incredible-- having a rain faucet-head made the experience feel luxurious, especially with how much I was sweating due to exploring in Singapore's weather during the day. The room included plenty of amentities, such as a mini fridge that came with two complimentary cokes and M&M pouches, and two sets of toothbrushes and toothpaste. They also provided a shaving kit, shower cap, and the usual shower amenities. The location is great as well, not being too noisy but very close to local cafes and hawker stands for convenient food access. In addition, the Metro station is only 5 minutes walk, so it really is so easy to get anywhere in the city! It was a pleasant stay, and I would love to stay here again.

Yelp
Was in SG for a quick weekend getaway and this was our choice for a night's stay. Relatively new boutique hotel that takes inspiration from the swallow as "yan" is the chinese pronunciation for the bird and showcasing the feather motifs that are liberally used as their logo. The edgy yet cosy interior excites me and I felt that it was a thoughtful use of their otherwise small-ish rooms. Not sure if everyone will appreciate the near wall to wall glass en suites, but they have considered that, and added in curtains for privacy purposes. But during out stay, our toilet exhaust seemed to be broken, so we sometimes felt the room had a slight smell after coming back from our day out. Also the dark shades sometimes 'highlighted" the dust as it was more visible... But that said, we loved that they tried to make the bedhead multi-functional but also building in a desk behind it, with shelves for more storage. A small mini bar is also hidden under. Personally I love the extra feature of the customised wall clothes rail even though it was a little in the way when we have hung our stuff haha. And despite it being some walking distance from the MRT, we found it very convenient jumping on buses here. And with Chye Seng Huat (a coffee place) just steps away, we found our morning caffeine fix easily. Also, many more local food joints within walking distance so we never got to try their cafe, Nido in the lobby. I would definitely consider coming back due to its convenience and vicinity.

Yelp
We were able to stay here a few weeks ago as we had our first trip to Singapore. The hotel is quite , cute, quaint and trendy! The staff was able to quickly get us in and I was happy I didn't have to give a deposit at this hotel. We were able to book our room through Agoda.com. We were also happy because we were able to be settled in a room right next to our friends without an issue. Granted we stayed from Sunday-Weds so there was probably more availability. I will say it was THE SMALLEST Hotel room we have ever stayed in. We also had been told everything in Singapore is small due to space restrictions. It had the bare essentials and a bit more giving you a toothbrush and toothpaste. As well as, shaving kit, sewing kit, soap, shower cap, lotions and shower gels. They also provide a mini bar with coke, m&ms and chips. (at least the week we stayed). The hotel is like acted in Little India and it's about a 10 minute way to the nearest Metro station. Singapore is pretty pricy overall but I believe Hotel Yan is a great value! I would stay here again.

Yelp
Very nice hotel and staff. We stayed 3 nights. Rooms are bit small compared to USA. Service is great. Happy with The stay. They also have small bar and restaurant in the hotel for quick bites.
