The room was quite nice, and the bed was comfortable, even though at first it seemed a bit hard. The bathroom is big and the shower is very good. The only problem with the room is that it can get very very warm. I turned the heat completely off and even opened the window, and it was still too hot to sleep with a blanket. This resulted in several nights of not sleeping well.
The reception staff and the cleaning staff were very friendly. I was properly welcomed when I arrived, and everything was explained to me in detail. They really push the steakhouse on you. It’s not that I don’t like steak, it’s just that I prefer to make the decision myself. The hotel in general is slightly above average.
The one thing that I was very unsatisfied with was the breakfast. If you like cold, runny, scrambled eggs this is the place to stay. The first day I got my eggs first and then went back for my coffee and what they called juice (which is actually flavored water) only to find the eggs on my plate cold. The next day, I a different strategy: I got my coffee and flavored water first, then went to get the eggs from the heated area of the breakfast buffet. Same result: cold, runny eggs. Add to this the fact that they rope off half of the dining room and herd you into the section nearest the smoking room. The door to the smoking room always remains a little open, and a few guests actually got up and closed it only to have it reopened by one of the staff. I suppose they want the smokers to have fresh air. The problem is the smoke from the smoking room permeates the half of the dining room where we were forced to sit. Also, after being herded like cattle into that half of the dining room, I had to stand and wait for a table to free up, because the staff is too lazy to work with the whole room. There were three of us (not together) there waiting for a table while our food was getting cold. The staff walked around us smiling. I don’t think I’ve ever had breakfast this bad at a hotel claiming to be a four-star hotel. I usually stay at the Hilton, but it was booked full for the week, so I was put up here. Next time I will explicitly ask to be accommodated somewhere else.
