Missed the turn to the hotel, its kind of hidden. But once we got inside I noticed the awesome Halloween decor and stairwell. Whomever made the music playlist is on point btw, great tunes!! Once we got to our room, it was kinda of muggy/musty/humid, which countinued through the night. The pillows are sub-par, luckily I bring my own. You need all of the ones provided for 1 person since they are pretty flat. Nice warm shower, didnt care for the soap, shampoo and conditioner offered, smelled bad. Next morning headed down for breakfast it wasn't amazing... biscuits and gravy, eggs that were over cooked, sausage patties and links...alot of assorted breads. The coffee was terrible and the cranberry juice tasted as if it was mixed with water, and the orange juice tasted sour.... This place wasn't amazing, but not terrible. Defiantly get what you paid for. Oh and the offer shuttle to NRG which is very convenient and the woman at the front desk were very welcoming, great costumer service.

We stayed in room 216 from December 25th to 26th. The staff was pleasant, the room price was inexpensive, there was parking, and breakfast was included. The hotel only looks attractive in the photos; in reality, it's worn out and dirty. The room was not cleaned properly. It was dirty everywhere. There was dust and streaks on the floor and in the bathroom, and an incredible number of stains on the upholstered furniture and carpets. The bed linen was washed, but still covered in stains. The pillows were uncomfortable and very hard. Drinking water was only available near the reception. Breakfast was minimal, but edible. They charge a deposit of about $200 upon check-in. The view from the window was of a neighboring building just a few meters away. I would hardly stay at this place again.

We booked a reservation at Hotel Ylem for the night before my surgery, with reservations made on 1/13/2025 for a stay on 1/14/2025 through Priceline. Upon arrival, we were informed at the front desk that there was no reservation under our name. We immediately pulled up our Priceline confirmation email and app to show proof of the booking. The front desk attendant was dismissive and repeatedly stated that no reservation existed. He contacted his manager (or supervisor) and incorrectly told them that we booked through Expedia, which we did not—we exclusively used Priceline. While my partner attempted to message Priceline through the app and show the communication to the front desk attendant, he waved him off and refused to review the information. After approximately 15 minutes, the attendant stated he would create a new reservation manually since we had confirmation emails showing the booking. When we entered the room, we discovered multiple visible stains on the bed sheets that appeared to be bodily fluids. Additionally, the chair next to the bed also had stains of a similar nature. Given the condition of the room and the fact that this stay was booked specifically due to an upcoming surgery, this was completely unacceptable. We immediately checked out and had to find accommodations at another hotel late in the evening. This experience was stressful, unprofessional, and concerning from both a customer service and cleanliness standpoint. Unfortunately, we would not recommend this hotel

I was in Houston for surgery with my dad. Drove all the way from Baton Rouge. The entire Hotel staff and manager Mr. Leo were very nice. The hotel is so clean and its very beautiful on the inside. I stayed 2 nights thinking I was going home but I ended up needing to stay a few more nights. I called the front desk and the manager was able to give me my room back to help me. I would definitely be staying here again.

This is my second time staying here and won’t be my last. I’ve been needing to have frequent visits to Houston for my son’s medical condition. And as stressful as I am with the circumstances I’m going through this hotel has made it my easier and less stressful. The location is perfect and very close to the medical city, very easy for DoorDashers to deliver, and I always find parking spots no matter what time it is. I also want to shout out for Kimberly that has been amazing to us. Always greetings us with a nice smile, I’m surprised she even memorized my name and my son’s name and gives us positive vibes all the time ❤️❤️

People who value cost-effectiveness but don't pursue a high-quality lifestyle This is a rather old-fashioned style hotel. Parking is free. Breakfast is included, but there's only a limited selection of fruit. After all, the price is what it is. The cleanliness and hygiene are both acceptable. Suitable for people who just want to rest and sleep There aren't many luxurious amenities to entertain you. Near the stadium, in the central business district Supermarkets, banks, restaurants, and fast food are all within walking distance. Don't go out tonight.

If you're going to the medical center it's a great location. Very close and lots of options for good within walking distance including a grocery store. Staff were nice and very helpful. I found the rooms to be clean, beds comfortable and lots of hot water for the shower. Overall the upkeep of the hotel is poor. The sign outside was old and worn down, furniture in the lobby was extremely worn and it just looked tacky. Breakfast was horrible. I've never had powdered eggs but I now know that I don't like them and the bacon looked horrible... not sure if it was turkey bacon or real bacon but I know it was a light pink color so I didn't dare to try it. The neighborhood is sketchy with one or two homeless people, but that didn't bother me. I still felt safe waking outside as this is just something that you unfortunately find everywhere.

I've been going to Hotel Ylem since March of 2022 due to my cancer treatments. Since that time, I have to say that everything had done down hill. When I first started staying, the hotel was nice, the breakfast had many options, and the rooms were luxurious; however, since the remodel and hurricane, the hotel isn't the same. During the remodel, they decided to take out the couches, desk, and even lamps out of the room. My room this time had an icebox, but the handle was missing so they screwed a metal hanger on the door. People are now taking items from the rooms ( hair dryers, ironing boards, towels) so they put minimum into the room now. While I was waiting my room a gentleman came down and said that there wasn't a top cover to the ironing board. Housekeeping isn't making sure that basic items are left in the rooms. Breakfast has also gone down hill. They used to have a variety, but they took the waffle maker and other options disappeared. They only have the same biscuits and gravy with scrambled eggs daily. The clientele had also gone down. At any given moment you can see homeless people hanging in the parking lot. The hotel has smelled like weed on multiple occasions in the hall. This trip a homeless woman asked to use the restroom inside. The front desk person let her, but she didn't go to the restroom, she went to the breakfast area and went into the cabinets to find things to take. The worst part is that the front desk staff used to be friendly and now they employ people that are lazy and have poor customer service skills. After driving from Dallas and having chemo all day, I was ready to check in. It was two females at the front desk that didn't greet me and kept gossiping while I stood in front of them. After an uncomfortable amount of time I tried to check in. Unfortunately, the room was under my husband's name. The "manager" talked at me and told me that I would have to get the 3rd party to add my name. I called my husband and he started the process. I had to lug my bags to the big table and wait. After a while my husband told me it was fixed. I had to go back to the ladies and let them know. The "manager" said it wasn't on her screen and wanted proof. My husband was on the line and was saying that Expedia said that Ylem would have to add our names. The "manager" wouldn't add my name even after Expedia said it was okay. She then talked over me while I was explaining. She told me my two options were to talk to the owner/director (who wasn't there ) or get Expedia to do it. I told her that if Expedia was saying that they couldn't do it, and the director wasn't there to resolve the issue, what do we do. She shrugged her shoulders and went back over to the other woman. It was very apparent that she didn't care or want to help anyone. I told her that I just finished chemo and this wasn't the way to treat cancer patients. She talked to the other employee. About 15 minutes later my husband said he had it fixed and I had him send me the confirmation to confirm. I had to go back over to them and show them. They didn't talk to me or acknowledge me, just gave me a key. After I took my stuff to my room, I went back downstairs to get dinner. The "manager" and the trainee were gossiping about me. When I walked by them, they wouldn't look at me and stopped talking. It's sad that I've been going every 3 months for therapy for several years and now I will have to find a hotel that hasn't turned to trash. It used to be such a nice place, but I'll gladly find another place. I wanted to support family-owned businesses but they either don't care how their employees are treating medically fragile people or are too cheap to run the business how it needs to be.

Not sure why this is a 2star hotel. Room was very clean, has fridge, microwave, coffee and cold AC. Front desk check was smooth and bartender was very friendly. Great location walked to NRG stadium, Gus Chicken right across the street. 24 hour coffee with real creamer. And the breakfast was great. Enjoyed the eccentric lobby, toe tapping music and clean smell. Would stay here again.

Soooooooo some facts..... This is an old hotel The pictures of it do not do it justice. This place is dated and could use some major improvements with equipment, fabrics, and, cleanliness. I do take cleaning supplies to every hotel I go to and this hotel needed some love. Now, I loved my room for the most part but the skirt of the bed had big stains on it that are super old and needed to be removed or replaced. Easy fix. The cute microwave I ended up not using really needed some soap, water, and an antibacterial. I fixed that myself. ( Be very aware that housekeepers have a specific time to clean. In most places, even high end, they are timed. Watch YouTube videos! It gets nasty even on the 1,000 per night! I always bring gloves, Lysol and a antibacterial. I always clean the bed.... whether it looks clean or not, the sink, the toilet, the microwave, fridge, and all surfaces. It takes 20 - 25 minutes and then it smells and is sanitized) I don't have this problem however when I go abroad. Especially Europe, Mexico, and the Caribbean. The hotels there are usually cleaned thoroughly. Okay, okay. They do have a bar which I didnt visit because I dont drink. The bartender's name is "T" T is very very deserving of a raise! When they had an emergency outside the hotel and there wasn't staff to check in new guests, T hot on the phone and the computer and I watched him become a pro in twenty minutes of checking people in!!! I had just come back from church and forgot to take my key. I waited until he had checked in the new guest and he gave me a new key with no issues. Kudos to you T! You are a sweet soul! He talked on the phone with someone lovely. I don't remember her name. Maybe Jessica or Veronica. She is Hispanic and pleasant if that helps the manager. She was awesome! I have called at all times of the day to talk to the manager to give them their kudos and have been told the manager is not in. I have told them why I need to speak to the manager but I get the feeling the manager is there and the employees don't believe I'm going to give a good report. Oh well. This hotel is near all of the big hospitals and specialties. I didn't know this but most of the guests are there because they are getting some type of treatment. Other than cleanliness, I enjoyed my Staycation. I was there for three nights. Not headed back anytime soon but it was peaceful.

The location is awesome. 10-15 minutes away from all of our destinations for our trip. It's a cute place with charm. The room itself has very little counter space in the bathroom and the shower curtain isn't long enough to stop the shower water from flooding the entire bathroom.

Hote was conveniently located close to all of the attractions and restaurants that we had planned to visit while we were in Houston for a quick getaway. Check in was easy, parking was free and the hotel was nice enough especially for the price. Where it takes its dings is the shower was not great and it was near impossible not to soak the floor while showering which became an even larger problem when they don't give you enough towels. If you need something affordable and convenient and don't mind just minor inconveniences then this place is worth the price

This is my third time at this hotel and this has been the worse experience thus far. The last stay I didn't have any towels in my room and had to go downstairs and ask for some. This time, there was no comforter on the bed. The front desk stated that because people have stolen them in the past, they don't have enough for all of the rooms anymore. I called and someone brought one up, so problem solved. The horror started when there was a used condom USED CONDOM on the floor by the bed. This shows that the rooms are not properly cleaned. I called the property to speak with the manager, Donna and she stated that she could not accommodate my phone call at the time and I needed to call back tomorrow. Donna, the manager, stated that it would be rude of her to have this conversation today in front of other guest in the lobby. I decided to head back up to the hotel and Donna did not want to acknowledge me, instead said "is today Monday? Then come back tomorrow". She said since I didn't report it before checking out that there was no way to verify that the used condom was on the floor. Then accused me by saying "how knows when that picture was taken" as if I have pictures of used condoms in my phone. Do yourself a favor, don't get sucked in my the price and location, they place is horrible!

DON'T STAY AT THIS HOTEL! Disgusting hotel room. Even worse customer service. We were called and harassed prior to arriving. We were contacted twice from an assistant manager Jessica and a manager Donna requesting our credit number over the phone prior arriving. Once we arrived the person checking us in began questioning our AARP card and was bit flustered about the check-in process. We entered into a filthy room! Requiring us to purchase cleaning products to clean and sanitize the the room. There was also trash ftim a previous customer in refrigerator. There was chair in the room was AWFUL it had something black and nasty on the chair. The surfaces were dirty and the tube was not clean. I have taken pictures of everything. To top it all off we had go downstairs to request towels, because there weren't any I the room. One of the towels that we were given was dirty and we had to give it back. After we cleaned the room we went to speak with management only to be told at 4:00 no managers were available, and that they would available until Monday morning. Completely unacceptable. Front desk staff deplorable.

EXCEEDED 2 star rating (hotels.com) expectations. unique boutique hotel with interesting, eclectic decor. loved the design, functionality and comfort of my room. mattress was new, plush and comfy. loved the aqua igloo mini fridge! ac unit worked well, but did get noisy at times. appreciated that books and games for borrowing and spaces to do both were provided as well. staff was friendly & helpful. short walk to NRG stadium or hotel offered shuttle as well (texans game). only disappointment was breakfast. not a lot of people partaking, but plates and food kept running out. our egg omelette was REFRIGERATOR cold! had not been heated. but overall experience was good, would definitely stay here again.

I made a reservation for this hotel through Expedia on Friday July 21st 2023, I paid for it in full, when I arrived at the hotel, I was told by the woman at the front desk, that there weren't any rooms available, and one wouldn't be until 3:00, I told her I had already paid for my room, and she acted as if she couldn't find my reservation. I then had to find another hotel, late in the evening. I called Saturday morning and spoke to the Assistant Manager and was told, that she had personally seen my reservation, and wasn't sure why she had told me that, at this point, I just would like my refund, she told me she would speak to her manager and get back to me. I have yet to receive a phone call, email, or anything. I worked in customer service for many years, and where customer service is now, is very, very sad! Especially with the Economy still not being that great!

Well I stayed there 3 night. The air conditioner in my room wasn't working correctly. It was very humid and was musty smelling. I contacted the front desk, but it never did get fixed. Sunday I had a number of large cockroaches in my bathroom and sleeping area. I have made a half a dozen attempts to get in touch with the manager, but he has chosen not to contact me back.

I cant even explain how disappointed I was with my stay. The room smell awful. The sheets were stained with something brown. The entire setup of the room is not convenient or worth the $$ spent. The decor is wayyyy outdated I definitely glad I brought my own towels. I think I was expecting more from those lovely pictures online. The only compliment: The lady bartender, who was new, was EXTREMELY nice. There was a maid apologized for dirty sheets and offered to clean room Date of stay: July 2022

Beautiful scenery with lots I mean LOTS of positive vibes all around. I absolutely love when you walk in and you view a bunch of affirmations reinstating how good you already feel when you walk in... The rooms, pretty modern with a touch of vintage. I like it. The heater did NOT work in our room the entire weekend and we dealt with it because we came with a group and wanted to stay near everyone else. The front desk rep was pretty cool and kind to us. Helped us with any and everything we needed during our stay. I would definitely recommend this hotel for a quick getaway from all the wildness in Houston.

This is a great hotel walking distance (20-25 min) to NRG stadiums. With a target, Kroger, and Plenty of food options close by. Hotel is quiet and clean with great water pressure in the hot shower and cold ac in the rooms. Hotel staff was friendly. Hotel has a little marketplace to buy bottled water and snacks. Has a bar and free breakfast. If near the stadium again would definitely stay again

Such a cute hotel! It has a very local, Houston feel and I was impressed as soon as I walked in the door. The room was clean, the bed was comfy, I have no complaints except for one! Around 5am I woke up to the room next to us blasting their tv. I was so tired I thought I would fall right back to sleep but the noise from the tv kept me up - which stinks because of the wonderful later check-out. I called the front office and let them know and I feel like the volume was lowered for a little bit, but it was turned back up not long after. I would have loved to sleep instead of TRYING to sleep to the sounds of muffled voices and loud commercial music. That's not the hotel's fault of course, but it was still upsetting. I might stay here again but the noise was so bothersome, it probably wouldn't be my first choice.

This hotel was amazing. I want expecting such an environment in 2 star hotel. It was clean the staff was very helpful, and I love the decorations. I would refer this hotel to family and friends

i booked this hotel because it's in walking distance to the stadium. it was definitely once a holiday inn or something that was converted. they've added modern decor but the hotel still feels dirty and smells moldy. the carpet in the room was moist :/ the worst part of the hotel is the front desk staff. misha, who i believe is the manager was super nice with answering my questions before i got to the hotel. but the rest of the staff are just not friendly and are really bothered by any questions you might have. where's the hospitality?

So my review on this hotel is SO-SO Pros- Location was awesome easy check in process was great and simple Breakfast was standard but decent Room was great with really good vibe and feel A/C cold and bed was comfy Cons- Sketchy across the street carpet may need to be changed looked kinda dated Bath towels were thin as paper Very worn out towels

I would like to start off by saying this is one of the hipest hotels my wife and i have ever stayed at. The decor is awesome and kinda takes you back to a Casablanca setting, at least that what we think. The staff is awesome and extremely welcoming every time we show up. What gves the hotel extra cool points is tge cool little bar. You can sit and have drinks and chit chat the two of the most awesome bartenders you'll ever meet. Loanin and Joha can create almost anything you can imagine. The drinks are awesome and the beer is cold. If you're in the area for business, a Texans or Astros game stop by. You wont be disappointed. The room had a foul odor we couldn't get housekeeping for two days and when they did call themselves cleaning they left water on the surface and trash tied up in the room. Breakfast was rubberished and cold. The owner and customer service is rated below zero they are liars and thieves. They lied about when I checked out and stole $119.00. It took multiple attempts to speak to someone one and when I did they said the worker that checked me out was no longer working there. I was told that a wise person learn from the experience of others.

It was clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A good place to stay if you need to be at the medical center. In room coffee was very good. Had the best price for those we looked at. We had to be at Methodist hospital at 5:30AM so I was able to try the free breakfast.

Tried to contact the hotel first for a refund instead of posting negative comments but hotel was not interested in working with us. Booked this hotel for a family of four- when we got in the place smelled like cigarette smoke, the rug was dirty, the bathroom was gross, there was hair in our bed and shower, toilet paper stuck to the wall, stains on the carpet, and was overall disturbingly disgusting. Left immediately and went somewhere else. Do not book this hotel- you will regret it!

Very impressed by how clean it was. Cute remodel throughout. Best part- quiet environment. About 8 minutes from MD Anderson during peak hours. Cost is very budget friendly for how nice hotel was.

I received an email regarding my experience at Hotel Ylem and sent this review in. To which I never received a reason a response or confirmation that they cared or would improve so I wanted to pass this experience forward for other potential guests (especially during COVID): Some things I did not take pictures of but are important to mention are the plastic drawers for towels (which did not seem sanitary during COVID) and no place to store towels after being wet (the towel hook was broken when we walked in). The other images may show age/example of a not fully cleaned bathroom. As soon as we entered we learned the bar was not open. During COVID I completely understand the reason for the close but there was no mention of this anywhere on your website or social media sites. The person assisting us looked annoyed and baffled we would ask but since it wasn't mentioned anywhere I felt it was a fair question. If we knew we would have brought some wine from the store. To occupy our time we tried to watch TV but kept receiving this signal as attached in the email. We both took showers as one another tried to figure out the issue and to give the TV some time to refresh/retrieve a signal. I called the front desk (the general number online since the phone in the room didn't seem to have a direct option that I was aware of). It was the same woman who checked us in and she said wait for 5 minutes and call back if it wasn't working. We told her we have been trying to work the TV and didn't mind waiting for 5 minutes but the TV still wouldn't work in that time frame. She asked what room and that she'd come up and check. She never came, we called again and promised to come but still never came. So we watched a movie on our phone since she did not want to assist and went to bed. I was extremely disappointed in this hotel so much so I booked another hotel the next morning so we could check out early. After that night (towels having being clearly stained, the service, the cleanliness/disrepair) we felt uncomfortable staying the extra night we booked for. The woman the next day was very nice and said I could check out early and that I would not receive the charge for the next night. She didn't ask why I was checking out a day early or how my stay was (which made me think this has happened before or at least during COVID).

We stayed here during the Houston livestock show and while the pricing was great and the front desk staff were great, the management and property were lacking. Over half the amenities listed were not existent, the parking was a nightmare and totally unsorted, gym was full of boxes, no spa as it was listed, no hair dryers, etc. We notified the front desk staff on check in (March 5th) that our stay would be one night shorter than scheduled and that we would be checking out on March 8th instead of the 9th and the front desk assured us it would be no problem and the night would be refunded. The morning we checked out the front desk attendant informed me that they require 48 hours notice which we gave and politely apologized and gave me a card to contact the Dalwadi Properties manager, Tonyia Felts, via email. When I contacted Ms. Felts regarding my confusion she simply said "we do not off refunds" per their policy. I was also charged an additional $50 for my service dog (which per ADA is illegal) and then charged me an additional $180 for the headboard on my daughters bed that was already broken when we got into the room. I will post screenshots of the emails from Ms. Felts offering zero explanation or response when I asked for a copy of the hotels policy regarding refunds and early checkout. This is the first place I've ever been where I left and felt like I needed to contact an attorney asap.

My friend came in town, and she booked this hotel for two nights, but I only stayed a night. It was easy to find, and there are so many stores and restaurants nearby. It's a small, cozy, and cute hotel where had ample parking. Both the room and the bathroom are very spacious. A couple of things I noticed were bright lights and noise. All lights are way too bright for hotel rooms. I didn't like it at all. It made my eyes tired. There seemed to be a big family staying on the same night and I can hear from inside the room. My friend said that she heard someone snoring loudly the room next to us. Everything else was good.

Hotel website ( https://www.hotelylemhoustonmedicalcenter.com as listed here on Yelp ) says they offer free airport shuttle, and when I called to arrange the shuttle I was told they do not, and they will not honor what the website says. I asked for the Manager and the manager spoke in the background, refusing to come to the phone. Poor customer service and misrepresentation of services. I was born and raised in Houston, graduated from University of Houston. I'm happy to say Houston is a great City and is known for far better customer service than this.

Great little hotel! Very close to MDAnderson. Our room had everything we needed and didn't feel like a typical hotel room. The staff were all friendly and helpful. This will be our go to hotel in the future!

The only good thing about this hotel is the nice staff. Everything else was not good. The rooms have an awful stench. The comforters had something that looked like ink stains all over, the towels weren't even big enough for a small child and there is no convenient place to get ice and no ice buckets, nor cups! This is basic stuff! The location is good, walking distance to NRG stadium but I won't be coming back. Once again, the staff was very nice.

The room had a horrible musty moldy smell. The fabric headboard on the bed was filthy, as were some of the common hallways. The water in the shower was lukewarm at best. The plumbing fixtures were stained and corroding. The post reviews on this place have to be fake.

Had the best time at Ylem! I sure will be coming to visit again. Great staff, great food options all around, and stores.

People don't really Yelp hotels and thats seems to be why the reviews are always so angry. That said, I had a really pleasant stay at Hotel Ylem (pronounced... Eye-lum? I believe? I keep saying Y'lem, ngl. I guess if I paid more attention in physics...), which is a family owned hipster-friendly hotel. This place is mad hip- they got a giant graffiti-esque mural on the front, hanging bead entrance to the bar, astro turf on the walls, a bird-cage like coat hanger in each room, trendy globe lights, and table and chair sets in the stair landing that look like a little library. Everything is quirky, but its also comfortable and clean. Some of it is most definitely showing its wear I will admit but for a privately owned hotel like this I think that's par for the course. They had a great free breakfast with a nice variety of hot and cold dishes. They also had a lot of events and suggestions of things to do around Houston which I think its pretty neat. When we were there for the one night we stayed they had an art exhibit and later that weekend was gonna be a Game of Thrones viewing. This place was cute, quiet, and reasonably priced. I'd definitely go back.

If you care about your health THIS IS NOT THE PLACE. Severe mold contamination everywhere, bathroom, sink, carpets, the whole bedroom. I requested 2 changes of room and all are the same. I had to book an airbnb because I am pregnant and I was developing severe allergies (sneezing, sore throat, watery eyes). I just pray the exposure (4 days) didn't affect my baby. I don't understand how this hotel is open, they should inspect it ASAP!

Great STAFF all across the board!!! Rooms are nice and cozy not to mention the location it's just perfect. We'll definitely make this our second home.

The biggest reason for this 5-star review is because of the staff -- our check-in and check-out experience was so wonderful and you could tell that the staff took pride in the hotel and what they do. The room was perfect for our needs. We decided at the last minute to book a 1-night stay in Houston as a stop on our road trip. Comfortable bed, clean room, and all the amenities we needed. Happy to have taken a chance on this hotel at the last minute.

This hotel seemed alright when we arrived. Staff seemed nice and accommodating to my service dog. The room was bare, same set up as online but with less furniture and bare walls. The headboard fell on my daughter's head in the middle of the night and then they charged us for it. They also charged us a $50 fee for my service dog. This is illegal per the ADA and I will be contacting them regarding this. We wanted to leave a night early, inquired about it and a refund and were told that we would get a refund. When we went to check out, they refused the refund. After a lot of back and forth we got one, but then were charged for the headboard and dog in the same amount that the extra night was supposed to be. The prices were tripled due to Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo going on at $250 a night. Not worth it, would not waste your money. Parking was also a nightmare. Not enough parking for the amount of people staying. Half the lot was full of construction equipment. People were parking in fire lanes, etc.

So first the positive. The room cleaners were awesome. The front desk was good at check in and the location was great as well. That said the TV didn't work, the air conditioner didn't work well enough to cool the room and take the mugginess out of the air and considering there was no vent in the bathroom, the room was very muggy after anybody showered. The tablet that was a cool idea didn't work to order service, like fix the tv or the ac, and nobody followed up or answered the phone when you called. I wouldn't stay here again. Nice people but lack of service and functional quality.

Hotel staff is extremely rude and not helpful at all. Won't be back, we ended up leaving and going to another hotel down the road.

I've been a frequent guest at this property over the past few years as I regularly visit the Med Center area. It has gradually been looking a little worn around the edges as all properties eventually do, but as long as the place is clean and safe I don't complain about that. The desk staff has always been incredibly friendly and kind. The cleanliness has finally become an issue. The room smelled bad, and there was moldy looking dust in the bathroom vent. The biggest disappointment was that this time the hotels.com reserved price was not honored. The young lady checking me in had no idea why my rate was $45 higher (and the rate I reserved was already about $50 more than I usually pay.) So I contacted hotels.com and although they were polite and tried to help, they stated all they could do was contact the hotel manager and wait for a response. I went ahead and checked in because it was almost 7 pm and too late to cancel. I had been at medical procedures literally All day after a 3 hour crack of dawn drive that morning. Literally sick & tired! I also emailed the manager and tried calling but she was never available matter what time of day. So not only no resolution to the price discrepancy, but not even a response to me or hotels.com. To be fair, rates in this area vary widely due to proximity to events at NRG, but this was a discrepancy from the reserved rate. If they don't want to work with Expedia, hotels.com, etc. they don't have to - but they should HONOR it when they do!

DO NOT BOOK! They have an unwritten cancelation policy and will not refund. Policy is blank so they say it is means non-refundable. They said they would refund three months ago then randomly charge credit card weeks before stay on a random day that they can not explain. Jessie can state unclear but will not follow up with refund even though they can make way more on the room now then when I booked because it is a special weekend.

This contemporary boutique hotel is one of the best in the central houston area. If you are going to an event at NRG stadium it is super close. Their refreshing interior designs and the amazing staff make you feel at home immediately. The hotel offers convenient amenities and areas in the hotel to meet with colleagues or get some work done. They also offer complimentary breakfast, shuttle service, and parking. My favorite is that they are driven by art and philanthropy. The rooms are clean and decorated using contemporary products. I highly recommend this hotel.

Do not stay here. When we checked in, the room had a horrible stench. We were moved to another room- same problem. We were also told specifically that there would be no housekeeping on both the second and third night of our 3 day trip. Fair enough- but then there was no housekeeping after our first night either. Meaning no housekeeping whatsoever - at all during our stay. They told us we had to "request" housekeeping- guess what, if that's your policy, you have to tell your guests when they check in. The hotel is cute. It's a shame they make excuses for their poor service, saying it's a COVID thing. Sorry, that's no longer a viable excuse in May 2021. Stay away.

Great place to stay near NRG stadium. Clean rooms, safe parking, and great staff. Great bar setting as well!

Awesome, clean n cozy room. The whole establishment is warm n inviting. I shall return. Oh and the complimentary breakfast was solid as well.

We were here for an event at the NRG center. We arrived at Hotel Ylem pretty late at night since our flight arrived at midnight. We were greeted quickly and check in was quick. We were assigned a room on the 3rd floor and wow the ceiling in the hallway was just spectacular! The room was very clean and perfect. I am a clean freak and was impressed with how clean it was. This was pre Covid and I witnessed a staff memeber wiping down the pop/soda machine . Now that would be the norm, but in February you never saw the cleaning staff doing that-I was impressed! We stayed 4 nights and had breakfast every morning. Staff was nice. This hotel was perfect. If you are looking for a hotel near NRG, I highly recommend this hotel!!

Their is an odor that hits you like a ton of bricks when you walk through the front sliding doors. It's like Jovan Musk . If you have any allergy's stay away from this property. Early morning at 6:00 we asked the front desk person to please make sure housekeeping does not use that spray in our rooms that stunk the whole lobby up. His smart and juvenile reply was.... You want us to clean your room but you don't want us to use any spray or cleaner? The linen was stained and could use some bleach, the rug in the room was stained as mentioned by other guest. The afternoon staff was very nice and friendly. It's obvious the early morning staff.... not so much. I personally wouldn't stay here again.

We have stayed at Hotel Ylem about 10 times so far and still counting. We have a baby in the NICU at a nearby hospital. Out of all the hotels in the Medical District of Houston, this is hands down the best. Reasonable priced, clean, and unique! Go to the bar and talk to Blake, the bartender, he always pleasant, friendly, and extremely helpful!

Staff must have deleted my on-line review. I came in afternoon of August 28 during the flood with the clothes on my back after being helicoptered out of my residence. I think Aaron, at the front desk, saw me as a peasant and spoke to me quite disrespectfully. I was shocked at the way he spoke to me. He later turned on the charm and confronted me after getting in the elevator with me. This was after I told managment I wanted nothing further to do with him and why. I was actually scared. The other young man helped me wash my clothes and pick up my car. He was very kind. I don't have an issue with the rooms. They are ok but didn't like the attitude from the woman in charge. I thought 130.00 per night was too much. Food was disappointing.
