We absolutely loved every moment of our stay at York House Hotel. From the moment we arrived we were greeted warmly and everything about our stay was wonderful. The room was clean and beautiful. I was even given a kettle for the room as I don't drink coffee so I could make tea in my room. (Top tip bring tea bags if like me you need a cuppa) The breakfast was delicious we enjoyed it every morning and actually the best I've experienced. The courtyard is beautiful, definitely one of my highlights. You really can't go wrong staying here.
If you have mobility issues be aware of the stairs, there are 50 steps upto the hotel. The porter will help with luggage if needed. If he isn't at the entrance ring the bell. But the steps are worth the walk and it's such a peaceful hotel away from the hustle of the centre, but so easy to get on public transport. We brought a Lisboa card €23 each (which covers all transport and some museums etc...)one of the days and brought a navigate card €9.80 for the remaining days which covers transport for 24 hours, you have to buy these at metro/ train stations in cash. Worth while, the bus/tram/ metro trips very quickly add up in a day and believe me with all the hills you will want them.
