The 8 Best Hotels in Chicago (Updated 2025)

"Located in the Loop inside a landmarked historic building with beautiful mahogany-lined walls and furniture, I found Staypineapple fun and cozy. Rooms are on the smaller side but have everything you need: extra-fluffy duvets, oversized pillows, soft robes, blackout curtains, huge towels, Keurig coffee/tea makers, and unlimited bottled water. I received a free welcome drink at the attached bar/restaurant, which serves great food from breakfast to late evening, and there’s a fitness center and bike rentals available." - Matthew Kepnes

I honestly had the best time in this hotel! The staff was super friendly from the moment I checked in, and the whole place had such a fun, clean, welcoming vibe. My room was adorable and SO comfortable — the bed was insanely cozy and everything felt fresh and well taken care of. I loved all the cute little details around the entire building too; it made the space feel really unique. The location was right in the middle of Gaslamp, perfect for exploring little shops and eateries around downtown, and it just made my trip much more relaxing. I had a really great experience and would totally stay here again. Highly recommend if you want a cute, comfy, and super easy stay!

This hotel is our Thanksgiving tradition—and for good reason! We've been staying here for seven years, and every visit confirms it's the best. The attention to comfort is unmatched: they have the best pillows, bedding, and top-notch duvets (we loved the sleeping experience so much, we even switched to using separate duvets at home!). The towels are wonderfully soft and generously sized (perfect for plus-size guests), and the robes are incredibly cozy. Beyond the incredible rooms, the service is outstanding. We appreciate the complementary check-in drink, the friendly and clean atmosphere, and their genuinely caring approach to the guest experience. They are also dog-friendly and provide bikes in the lobby for easy city transportation. During our most recent stay, they even upgraded us to a suite—it was a wonderful treat! On check-out, the exceptional service continued when Alan from the front desk proactively spotted my husband in the car and rushed out to help with our luggage. Every staff member we've encountered over the years has been a gem.

Google
⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ I absolutely loved my stay at Hotel Stay Pineapple! Everything was so nice from start to finish. The rooms were clean, comfortable, and felt high quality, especially for how affordable it was. The atmosphere was welcoming, and it really felt like great value for the price. It’s hard to find a place that’s both cheap and this good, but Stay Pineapple nailed it. I would 100% stay here again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great, budget-friendly hotel experience! 💛🍍

Google
Pros: Fantastic central location to nightlife in the gas lamp quarter. Rooms are large and beds are very comfy. Bathroom was nice. The price is great for much a great location. Staff is superb, can't give enough praise to them. Cons: We had a street facing room and it was very noise at night. Sound proofing is not very good. I would recommend a room furthest away from street. There were non working outlets and phone did not work. Staff tried to get them repaired but could not be repaired during our stay. They provided compensation for the non working phone. The staff mentioned that the room would be put out of service until mechanical issues were fixed. Overall I would stay again but would stay in a room off the main street.

Google
We have stayed here twice now and have loved it both times. The staff is always super friendly and the rooms are clean. We have not brought a dog here yet, but it seems super dog friendly. They have bikes for rent and it is in a great walking location to many food options. Will definitely be back!

The first time we stayed here was for my birthday a couple years ago and loved it! We had some major plumbing issues happen back in Oct/Nov of last year and needed somewhere to stay. We thought of Hotel Z and was able to book just in time. When we arrived to check in Jan greeted us with a smile and began the check in process. He said since we were the last guests to arrive he upgraded us to a suite room. While making small talk he heard why we were staying there and waived all fees for us!! My wife and I were so shocked and appreciative, he didn’t know how much that helped us out during that time. We had a great stay and our stress was somewhat put as ease given the circumstances. You won’t regret staying here, it’s so close to many restaurants and there are plenty things to do. The staff are friendly and make sure you’re taken care of!

Google
I really enjoyed my stay there. First time at a Staypineapple property but for sure not my last. What stands out: 1. The design and all the accessories and special touches to incorporate the pineapple theme everywhere! 2. Sooooo dog friendly. First hotel I feel like I got something for the pet fee paid. Their doggy package includes foldable dog bowls, yummy treats, poop bag holder all in cute yellow pineapple color. And if you need a dog bed during the stay they have the cutest beds that felt and looked clean. And they have treats in the lobby. You can ask for pup cups. Plus your Puppy's name is on display in the lobby during your stay. 3. Loved the european style bedding. 4. I like hotels where I can open the windows, even if just a little. So that was a plus. 5. And last but not least the staff. Super friendly and helpful.

Google
The room was great! It was spacious enough even with two queen beds, and the view was amazing. The fourth floor street view room was high enough to drown out the busy downtown noise even during Survivor Series weekend. Alan and his team were helpful and shoutout to Adrianna for pulling through and extending our stay last minute. The housekeepers were great and I did not find anything wrong with our stay!

Yelp
Fabulous hotel! Beautiful spotless modern room & great location within the heart of the gaslamp. Excellent check-in by the amazing ADRIANNA. Before check-in I spoke w Adrianna regarding parking & a few other questions we had. She was incredibly helpful ! At check-in she was so kind, hospitable & accommodating to my daughter & her friend, setting the tone for an excellent stay! This will be our new gaslamp hotel! Thanks, LoRusso

Yelp
Came to Gaslamp for a staycation and stayed at Hotel Z Small rooms, friendly staff, walking distance to everything in Gaslamp. Only con is no parking on site, but there's a parking structure a half a block away ($38 for a little over 24 hours of parking). Funky decor, but I have to vouch how comfortable the bed & sheets were. Good place for just sleeping!

Yelp
Went to San Diego for a few days to meet my friends new baby and brought my pup with me. It was his first vacation ever and I was really nervous about finding the right hotel, but I was stoked to find Staypineapple had a location in downtown SD! They are so accommodating for dogs and set him up with a cozy dog bed, travel bowls and poop bags! From check in to check out everything is so smooth and stress free. The beds are super comfy and they provide you with robes to use, a (refillable) water bottle, and a complimentary beverage during your stay. This hotel is also in the prime spot for almost anything you want to do in downtown. It's walking distance to tons of restaurants and activities, including Petco Park! I can't wait for another opportunity to stay with Staypineapple!

Yelp
What a coolest hotel! Conveniently located in the heart of downtown San Diego with the most amazing design and decor. Receptionist Cynthia was fantastic and extremely informative. Parking may be a little confusing but worthwhile. I absolutely recommend and returning sooner than later.

Yelp
Once again we had a fabulous stay at Hotel Z for the Padres Opening Day. We checked in on Wednesday, Opening Day eve and checked out Friday, post-Padres win. I caught Alan's name at check-in, super nice guy. I did not catch his lovely coworker's name, but she was equally super nice. The staff at Hotel Z is, without fail, always the nicest, friendliest staff of any hotel we've stayed at. Upon check-in we received our complimentary welcome drink. I chose a Stone Buenaveza. Becky couldn't decide between two drinks and Alan gave her both! Our room (#311) was great. A suite was available so I upgraded. It was an affordable $80 total for both nights. The suite was great. It had a couch with a pull-out bed, a flat screen with a full pull-out, full-swivel and tilt mount. We could position the TV to see if from anywhere in the room. A work station, mini fridge and microwave. The bathroom was large, well-lit and spotlessly clean. The shower was divine. It is the beds and the duvets that are the real story of Hotel Z amenities. The beds are epic! The duvets are so soft, cozy and comfortable that getting out of bed is a problem. A great problem to have! The bulk of the rooms at Hotel Z are interior rooms, so if you're looking for views, probably not the best choice. For us, everything else makes up for any shortcomings (no pool or hot tub for example). All else at Hotel Z is far superior to most hotels at a much more affordable price point. We most definitely would stay again.

Yelp
I've stayed Hotel Z's Staypineapple counterpart in Portland and had a stellar experience, so I was excited to see what this location had to offer. First, the positives: the amenities and thoughtful touches-- from the heavenly comforters and pillows to the complimentary water and coffee station-- were exceptional and definitely up to par with the experience I had at the sister hotel. The checkout process was incredibly smooth and the woman at the front desk was super accommodating in the event that I needed a late checkout. Some growth areas: as a woman traveling alone, I was placed on the second floor with a window directly adjacent to a public balcony. While I know this can be out of the hotel's control, I felt a little unsafe with the location of the room. Just a small note for the future! I arrived later in the night, and while the man at the front desk was professional and completed the task at hand, I couldn't help but feel like I was a nuisance for arriving so late based on his behavior and body language. Again, it was late at night, so this was mostly understandable.

Yelp
You guys get 6 stars My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay! Staff was amazing, room was nice and had everything we needed plus some, and I LOVED the pineapple inspired everything I loved the reusable water bottle provided and the water station in the lobby. You can do hot, cold or sparking water anytime of day, so cool! Oh and it is the perfect location downtown, close to a ton of restaurants and easy pick up and drop off for Uber or lift drivers. We would definitely stay with you guys again!

Yelp
Stayed a short stay while in the city, upon arrival was I greeted by Alan who was very kind and helpful with getting me checked in and telling me about all the amenities available. I was even upgraded to a suite. My room was spacious, clean, and very comfortable. I appreciated the in room coffee/tea, refrigerated stocked with creamer, microwave to reheat leftovers, complimentary aluminum water bottle, filling stations, coffee stations, complimentary welcome beverage, soft duvets, and linen. Everyone was very friendly and welcoming, location was great in the Gaslamp area, easily walkable to restaurants, cvs around the corner, and convention center close by. Would recommend and will stay again if ever in area again!

Yelp
They went above and beyond of what I could have ever expected. Two days prior I asked if we could send in a birthday banner for them to put up in the room before we got there & if we could do early check in. The banner got delivered at 1:20pm and Alan ran to set everything up. Everything was ready by the time we walked into our room (1:30pm)! The day of, he called me at 10am to let me know my room was ready and I could come whenever (original check in time was 4pm). They greeted us with a giant pup cup for my dog and everything he needed for his stay- dog bed, multiple bowls, a toy, and a dog waste bag holder. Nothing but amazing things to say about the front desk lady as well, didn't get her name but she was super nice! Overall, thank you so so so much to the Staypineapple team but especially to Alan. I hope you get promoted to CEO TODAY and I wish nothing but the best for you and your 21 siblings.

Yelp
We love the Pineapple hotel AKA Hotel Z in San Diego. First of all the front staff is super friendly. Alan and Aaron and everyone who greeted us were so welcoming and helpful. You're going to love this place... pineapple coffee mugs were so cute and went perfectly with our matching pineapple robes. But aside from all the little touches... it's the beds you melt into. With separate duvets and marshmallow mattresses I'll doubt you'll sleep better than this. The whole hotel is pet friendly and right in the heart of the gas lamp quarter with parking across the street or behind the hotel. Convenient, warm and welcoming, fun staff, pineapple and pet themed, all at a great price. Also the coffee was good... and I'm a coffee snob... so that's saying something! We'll definitely be staying there again when we come back to San Diego in a few months.

Yelp
Nestled right in the middle of downtown San Diego. Walking distance to Petco park and other downtown locations. Yes there is a free drink coupon (coaster). Every room is formatted a little different. I'm extremely happy for my room 405 which has a street view. My friends have a wall view and paid $100 more than me. Speaking of prices....everyone in my party booked the same week I did but we all paid very different prices (mine was $150. There is no parking at this hotel. There are public lots available but costly and the streets are free after 8p. I don't know if it was luck but I never heard any neighbors near me. It was extremely quiet. The rooms are bathroom is super tiny but I'm ok with that. Bed was comfortable. Great nite nite so I was very satisfied. Thank you hotel pineapple for a lovely stay.

Yelp
I love staying at hotels and this one is honestly one of the best ones I've been to, service is great and workers are really welcoming and quick to respond to requests. And loved the robes! Will definitely continue staying here in the future 10/10 recommend!

Yelp
From the welcome by the staff to the adorable amenities, this stay was worth my money! It was so nice and refreshing to have people that smile and greet you with excitement! It was so fun! You even get two welcome beverages of your choice complimentary AND WATER! Right in the midst of all the Gaslamp fun! You DO have to park in the public parking but it was only $20 for our whole stay. THANK YOU!!
google avatar

Amanda H.

Yelp
The room was lovely and the bed was magnificent. The only downside is if you get a room facing the street-- holy smokes-- it is bumping and loud all night long. Probably the worst night of sleep I've ever gotten at a hotel. Not something they can control-- as the pedicabs are ridiculously loud. But the staff was accommodating and got us moved to a new room the next morning. Then it was a great stay. The cookies and coffee was a nice treat and the staff was all kind. Would definitely recommend staying at a Stay-pineapple! Also note anyone visiting SD: do not utilize the pedicabs they are absolutely rude and scammers. We had to learn the hard way and it was a horrific experience.

Yelp
I love this place! Booked this simple and lovely little hotel on my trip to see a concert down here in SD. The staff was lovely especially Cynthia and Alan! They were so kind and greeted my pup and I with warmth and kindness. They offered a dog bed, and gave me a little bag of complimentary goodies for her. They have bikes to borrow and also gave me a complimentary drink token. The showers are strong and hot and the beds are so comfy and relaxing. If you want a no frills, cozy, happy, easy spot to stay this is it! Love that I could bring my pup and be so close to the Gaslamp District. Everything is walking distance. Parking is the only tricky thing but I was able to unload in the front with handy accessible bell carts to use. I'll be back for sure! Thank you for such a lovely experience:) P.S. Walking distance to Gaslamp Quarter, Convention Center, Stadium, and metro line. Came here for a concert at Viejas Arena, definitely recommend taking the metro $5 round trip, clean, and efficient.

Yelp
We stayed at Hotel Z Staypineapple for 3 nights last week. We chose this hotel because we had positive experiences from staying at another Staypineapple hotel. It was seamless from reservation to check out. Alan at the front desk greeted us with a big smile. He let us checked in early and gave us a nice upgrade. Cynthia was friendly and answered my questions. The room was comfortable, clean, and quiet. Location is great! Walking distance to many attractions. We would definitely stay at Hotel Z again!
google avatar

Yelp
All I can say is... 10/10 staff, 10/10 theme, 10/10 experience. And now I'm a pineapple lover! Would come back again!
google avatar

Cat L.

Yelp
Super cute and clean hotel with a fun pineapple theme. Upon entering we were greeted by their lovely staff. The hotel offers a welcome drink for the entire party and little pineapple treats during the afternoon. There are bikes that you can use during your stay and a reusable water bottle. Coffee, tea, still and sparkling water are offered the entire stay. There is no parking attached but there is an extremely inexpensive overnight parking structure on Market. The place is called Park It on Market. Also, this is a dog friendly hotel.
google avatar

Audra D.

Yelp
Traveled for work and stayed at the Hotel Z. The hotel is right in Gaslamp and literally you can walk to any restaurant and have a good time. Upon check in they provide a free drink coaster where you can use it at any time to have an IPA, wine or seltzer. They also have complimentary cookies, coffee and water. They give you a free water bottle that is reusable and have cruiser bikes to use which was really cool! The room and hotel overall was exceptionally clean and the service was great. I would say here again for a quick getaway to SD.

Terence H.

Yelp
Cynthia and our next front worker were extraordinary truly, so kind and generous to us in multiple ways. We appreciate how helpful they were to us and going above and beyond to us. Free quality coffee in the mornings but plan to bring your own breakfast which is no problem, just good to know. Excellent customer service again, and just a fun area to stay in!
google avatar

Brian F.

Yelp
Great, friendly service! Rooms were tidy and comfortable. Having bikes available to guests to ride is a nice touch.
google avatar

Naoko O.

Yelp
Truly a great experience. Basic but really well done, clean, friendly and professional. Nice touch that they give you a free drink of your choice, coffee and cookies in the lobby. I had left behind an iPad. They found it immediately and shipped it back to me in a timely manner. Also I booked through third party and was a small discrepancy in the resort coast which I'm pretty sure wasn't their fault. They reimbursed me for it anyways. I believe the manager's name was Arron. I'd stay at this place again next time I visit San Diego. Thank you for a nice experience.
google avatar

Linda O.

Yelp
Great location downtown in Gaslamp district. Plenty of restaurants within walking distance. Room was clean and bright. Pineapple theme throughout. We were on the 4th floor and could hear outside street noises all night. The afternoon cookies were nice and there was a purified water station in lobby. Staff was friendly. Things to note; *No parking! Nearest garage that offers unlimited in/out is 3 blocks away. *Rooms are only cleaned every 2 days. *$28/night "amenities " fee *Bring a water bottle as only 1 is provided in room *European style bedding-aka no top sheet. Individual duvet *No refrigerator or microwave in room

Yelp
We saw great ratings for this hotel online already and we definitely see why! We were greeted with a warm welcome from Alan and Aaron right away! Everything from checking in, in between interactions throughout our stay, and checking out, was smooth and fun! We were actually celebrating our anniversary that Alan didn't know and he made our stay even more special for upgrading our room! Aaron also was so friendly and cool with anything we needed accommodated! The hotel is super cute and located near all the fun activities. Lastly they have bikes from the hotel that you can rent which is super convenient and great to have as an option for transportation. And the hotel is pet friendly which right away had my heart! We will definitely be back!

Yelp
Y'all! This is the cutest little hotel! We visited San Diego from Texas for my birthday and my husband found this little gem. I instantly fell in love! We were politely greeted by Alan who was more than amazing and made our check in process a breeze. Our flight landed at 0730 in the morning and we were prepared to drop our bags off by the front desk and head back out for a bite to eat seeing that we couldn't check in until a 3 or so but we were told that they had a room ready for us to be in when we got there! This was so perfect! Got to room and noticed how cute it was. To some, it might be a place to lay your head to get some ZZZzzzz's but to me, it was home for a few nights. Nice fluffy king size bed, super soft bath towels, and the lotion.... I have no clue what kind of lotion it was but I wanted to ask and get a bottle to take home. We did have one little issue. The shower did not drain properly. After being the shower for a few minutes, water would start to collect and pool down at your feet. Its not a deal breaker but I did address it when we checked out. I will most definitely be coming back to stay here again!!

Yelp
Great experience. The room was very clean and had everything we needed. Very friendly staff and overall great location of the hotel in the middle of Gaslamp and close to Petco park! Definitely Recommend !

Yelp
I LOVE this hotel! Love the vibe!! Really really appreciate how fun and playful they are. It's a refreshing welcome to what can be uncomfortable traveling. To the staff/team---please continue! Please continue to have MORE FUN with designing guest experiences. New fan of your hotel and hope to stay at your other locations! Also---I posted a bunch of photos on instagram. Also I LOVE the sheep painting in my room and would love to purchase! Beds are comfy!

Luis Q.

Yelp
First time at this hotel and the staff at this location is amazing! Room and restroom were clean. Front desk Supervisor Cynthia was great. She gave us information of tours and restaurants to attend. When requesting items for our room Cynthia would assist us with a fast response. Highly recommend this location and definitely will be staying at this great hotel!

Yelp
I came in for one night to go see the Billy Joel & Sting concert at Petco Park. I wanted a hotel that was "walkable" to the concert, and this fit the bill. The hotel is very cute and modern. However, there is NO PARKING for this hotel. You must keep that in mind and plan your parking space in advance. The closest parking is called "Park it on Market" and you have to have an advance reservation. Some people did not realize that and parking was sold out in the immediate area due to the concert. The room was cute, with the pineapple theme throughout. The bed was great, so comfortable. It has separate blankets that you can cocoon yourself in, which I did. The front desk lady was nice and sent up some pineapple cookies to the room so I could have a snack before I left for the concert. The next day, I took advantage of their lobby and had my breakfast down there along with their complimentary coffee. I stayed at this hotel because I was able to book it through my credit card using points, otherwise it is very expensive. Overall, the "gaslamp quarter" is just very expensive to stay in. Like any downtown area, there are a lot of homeless people lingering around so be wary of that as well.

Ann S.

Yelp
Great hotel and wonderful service. I had a couple of connectivity issues with the TV and some issues with the blinds and they fixed those right away! I was horribly ill my last night there (unexpected flu) and the front desk brought me Sprite and asked how I was the next morning. The only downside was that it's loud due to the musical lighted pedicabs and the delivery trucks at night if your room is facing the street side (and maybe the light from under the hotel door, but a towel solves that).

Hannah P.

Yelp
This is our second time staying at staypineapple so we were excited to try the San Diego location! And it was nothing short of what we expected! Not only was the room the perfect comfortable getaway we were hoping for. Jan at the front desk went above and beyond and made the experience that much better from making sure we knew about all the amenities to the pineapple cookies! This will definitely be our go to location any time we are in San Diego!
google avatar

Stacy Y.

Yelp
We were in San Diego for a conference and were lucky enough to snag a room at this hotel for 5 nights! It is so conveniently located only a 7-10min walk from the convention center and amongst many cute restaurants and bars. We booked through a 3rd party website, and the process was super easy. Upon arrival, the front staff was friendly and let us check in a little early. The room was clean, the bathroom was spacious, and the water station at the front was clutch. Our only complaint was that there was a lot of street noise. Bonus is that they're dog friendly!!

Sarita V.

Yelp
My husband and I just left from a weekend in San Diego with us staying at Staypineapple-Hotel Z. We were celebrating our 10 year anniversary. I absolutely LOVE everything pineapple so this hotel was a must for me! We enjoyed our stay tremendously. I want to personally thank LuLu for her hospitality and assistance whenever we had questions. She was absolutely amazing! Thanks Lulu! We will definitely return in the future.

Yelp

Yelp
My wife , our fur baby, Julius, and I had a wonderful stay at Hotel Z. The customer service from the team working there is awesome from our check in to check out. The friendly staff was very accommodating. It's the attention to detail that's sets this hotel apart from others in a great way. We love the complimentary water bottles that can be refilled in the lobby to the delicious cookies. They have bikes you can also borrow. It was also raining at they had these big complimentary umbrellas for us to borrow. This hotel is geared to take care of our fur baby as special as their human guests and we all really felt to love and care :)

Yelp
Very friendly to puppies and very convenient to go o out to eat a lot of good restaurants around this hotel

Yelp
I've stayed at this chain of hotels before in the Seattle area. This was my first trip to the San Diego StayPineapple. Hotel Z did not disappoint! Excellent check-in process and dinner recommendations from Shakti, then a smooth and humorous bike rental with Alan... last but not least, checkout and luggage storage with Cynthia was a breeze. My sis loved the comfy bed and raved about her duvet. Game selection at this particular hotel is not as plentiful as other sites, but not really an issue, since there's so much to do around the location: GASLAMP Quarter! I'll definitely return to The Z. Thanks again guys!

Yelp
Stayed for only one night in their King size bedroom and it was kind of small. But it did it's job. The room was clean. The bed was very comfy and fluffy. Tho at night the room got very stuffy even turned on the AC but it seemed like it didn't work so I couldn't sleep. Woke up multiple times at night. When 1am hit I could hear all the noise outside from the bars and just ppl out having fun enjoying themselves which I didn't mind. I will definitely be back when I'm in town. Update: I totally forgot to mention the service. It was beyond my expectations, everyone that worked there was very kind and friendly. Exceptional service!!! Also one free drink per person, and a free water bottle and refills. Thank you, thank you!

Yelp
My friends and I planned a weekend in SD, and she decided on StayPineapple Hotel Z San Diego. I used to live in SD and frequent the area but have never stayed here before. Since I'm fond of pineapples (Hawaii Home), I was excited to see how the accommodations were going to be. We checked in late evening, and it is required to have a key to enter, or someone at the front desk will buzz you in. The check-in process was smooth, but we had a mishap with the FD staff. I told him my friends and I were traveling together and we'd like to see if they were able to accommodate us on the same floor. Yay, he confirmed that we were on the same floor. I did call the night before to inform them of my requests and that I wanted to change the room type because a friend of mine wanted to stay with me in my room. According to the front desk agent who answered the phone, the upcharge would be $215 for changing the bedding type from king to 2 beds. I said, "That's OK because I don't want to spend $215 a night. We hung up and decided my friend would not stay in our room. While checking in, the front desk agent had my ID, and he was inputting information. I then asked what credit card I had on file. He gave me the last 4, and umm, it doesn't sound familiar. My friend who was sitting down waiting for me to check so she can check in says that sounds like her credit number. Well, apparently, the Front Desk staff started changing my friends reservation, updating the address with my address/information. Apparently, it's possible that he looked up her reservation when I told him I was traveling with her. Yikes!!! We went into our room and I was very pleased. They had 2 beds for me. Yay. I quickly called downstairs to ensure that I was not charged for the upgrade. Unfortunately, my friend who wanted to stay with me ended up going home (lives in SD) because i thought I i would have a single bed. Anyway, the beds were so comfy, and the water pressure in the shower was also awesome. On the last night, my keys no longer worked. I went downstairs to the front desk, and the supervisor came up and tried what she could but still was not able to open my door. She says she does not have any maintenance on-site that they are there between 9-6pm. I told her I was leaving for dinner and to please call me if someone (on call maintenance) is able to change my lock. Later, she called me and said no one would be able to change my lock/batteries until the AM. I said ok, well, someone will have to let me in when I return." When we did return, the Night Auditor couldn't open the door, so we waited in the hall while he went to get something else to let us in. He finally got the door open, which I was annoyed at this point. The next morning, I didn't want to leave my room because I knew that I didn't have a key. So I had to wait until someone in my room was awake. Again, it's annoying. Finally, someone came to repair it, which took only 2 minutes. We were able to leave with no restrictions. Now, why can't they have the overnight worker (night audit) learn how to do this repair in the event it happens to someone else. I was furious when we left, and I was ready to email the GM about my experience. I received a survey and an email asking for feedback about my accommodations. I responded to the email and expressed my negative experience, and gave them feedback. I was later contacted by Alan, Rooms Division Manager. We discussed the situation, and he made it right with me. At the end of our phone call, I was a happy customer. Many thanks to Alan for listening to my concerns and frustrations. Overall, this is still a great boutique hotel in the heart of downtown gaslamp. When I'm in SD, I'll probably stay here again and will recommend it to all. P.S. It's a pet friendly hotel with bikes you can use .

Yelp
This hotel made me think of the song called Pineapple Skies by Miguel. If you haven't heard it, it definitely matches the vibe of this entire hotel. Staypineapple Hotel Z is truly a unique experience. From the pineapple decor throughout the hotel, to the pineapple pillows and snacks. You get two complimentary drinks from downstairs; just bring the coaster as your drink "ticket." And water is unlimited. Now the bed is just as comfortable as everyone on Yelp has raved about! It's like sleeping on a cloud. The duvet cover's my boyfriend loved so much. They are fluffy and comfortable as all get out. There are two on the bed. My boyfriend was already trying to lookup where the duvet covers are from lol This hotel is doggy friendly! Yay. How awesome. Not only are they doggy friendly, but they offer free doggy treats. The front entryway has a sign where you can write your fur baby's name down and a big jar of doggy treats too. Another perk of staying at hotel Z is the bicycles. They have yellow pineapple bikes available for rent. And if you are a guest then the bikes are free. Pretty awesome right? We planned on going for a cruise, but it was cold and rainy outside. So, we skipped it. But nice to know it was an option. We stayed two nights at Hotel Z and enjoyed it. The doors are super cute too! They have different animals and pictures on each of the hotel room doors. This helped us remember which door/ room was ours lol The location is great. Right in downtown San Diego, so plenty of places that are walkable from the hotel. And there's a CVS Pharmacy right down the street if you need anything as far as hygiene items, snacks, drinks, etc.

Yelp
We had such a good experience staying here! Throughout our two day stay, every staff member we interacted with was welcoming and accommodating. I loved the funky yellow decor, our comfortable room, and how dog friendly this hotel was. The location of the hotel was ideal, since it was walking distance to everything in Gaslamp and Petco Park. They also had yellow bikes (along with bike helmets and locks) available to rent out for free! We rode them to Balboa Park and had the best time exploring. There was tasty spa water available in the lobby, as well as cookies in the evening, and they gave us two free drink tickets that could be redeemed for alcohol or non-alcoholic beverages. Would absolutely return!

Yelp
Spent two nights there Last week. The hotel was ok, the total lack of parking was a huge issue.. No nearby parking due to padres games those nights. Had to park over 1/2 mile away. The also charge you an amenity fee, of around $ 45.00,/day this gets you 2 K coffee cups, and free water out of the tap.. Be honest about your rates,

Yelp
It's taken me a while to get to this review because I honestly have still felt like I'm in a vacation since I've been there. This place is a ten out ten! I discovered hotel z stay pineapple this year and have already stayed there twice since...both times I extended my stay from a couple days to a week!! The perks of it being a dog friendly hotel, along with unlimited wi-fi and free cold filtered water all day -- the staff is the real best part. Every morning Alan greeted all guests and working hard to take care of things. He was my guy!!! Along with Cynthia and Aaron - the morning staff was always welcoming and hard working. Especially Cynthia always asking about my day and helpful with plans. And Aaron who always worked to give me great rates and room availability. At night Adrianna and Jan were my go to people setting a mellow vibe in lobby and being kind. Every staff, from maintenance to cleaning to other shift employees, were excellent and top of the game - which is why I will continue to come back here. Best part..,I'm a San Diego native, this is my hotel away from home. Highly recommend

Yelp
@alan & Aaron. The customer service here is unbelievable. This place believe it or not actually made our whole trip. I won't stay anywhere else. Thank you so much for hooking us up.

Yelp
The hotel is in a great location for downtown activities. Walking distance to the Padres stadium and San Diego Convention Center. Umbrellas and bicycles are available for use. They've got toothpaste, deodorant, toothbrushes, q-tips, and earplugs if you need some. Highly recommend asking for earplugs because I'm a light sleeper and I could totally hear stomping footsteps above me. Downside is there's no parking, but there's a public parking structure nearby.

Yelp
The beds and bedding at the hotel were so comfortable and we liked the extras like bikes, cookies and water bottle. It was incredibly clean and everything worked well.
