We went to SF to spend 1 nite for Peggy's birthday. We hadn't been to SF for almost 3 yrs because of the virus lockdown. Hotel is a whole block just off Pier 39. The location is convenient but all the side shops are closed due to the virus, only 7-11 & IHOP are open.
The hotel is 4 stories, but only 8 rooms have patios with bay views, we upgraded to one on the 3rd floor overlooking Alcatraz island.
The interior decor is unusual, and there are 3 firepits in the middle yard for marshmallows roasting, but one 2 were lit till 10:30 pm. We took tons of pictures in the lobby.
The staff is friendly but busy with guests. There's no bar or eatery onsite, but there are restaurants all around the block.
We went on a Sunday nite, and we can't believe everything was closed at 9:30 pm already. Even McDonalds was closed, but In & Out Burger is still open, but it's packed like sardines. Oh, parking is complimentary. Hotel also provides free water, wifi, coffee, etc. There's even a gym room but I didn't bring my gear. The bed is comfortable, shower is hot, both A/C & heater work fine, large enough TV, our upgraded room even comes with a fridge.
One last note, there are homeless hobos all around, that's disgusting. You just feel uncomfortable, politics aside, this is what you paid for being a sanctuary city. That's why the hotel & the nearby businesses all have nitetime security personnel. Just unfortunate. Infuriates me my taxpayer money have to go to lazy homeless hobos who are too lazy to work. Two morons outside 7-11 preaching the bible or whatever to themselves.
We took Uber to the Ferry Building, and there are god damn tents pitched all along Embarcadero. I don't know why the liberal politicians house them in their own homes. It just ruins an otherwise could-be beautiful city.
