Hotel zur Waldbahn

Next to the station. Welcoming staff. High end finish rooms and perfectly clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Very quiet. Nice views. Breakfast had plenty of variety. Also used the restaurant, perfect too! Only downside was having to close the window when all the surrounding birds started singing early! Pool available, but didn't try.

We have been here several times--the first time was at least 30 years ago. We stayed in room 24 which is up two flights of steps. The room has a balcony overlooking Zwiesel. The room was spotless. The bathroom has heated floors which is great in cold weather. The room is not overly spacious but we found it comfortable--it was the room we had stayed in before so we asked for it again. We stayed four nights and found never heard a sound from other guests. The breakfast had an abundant array of choices. We would return, happily.

We stopped to eat in the local restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious. Really nice service and peaceful surroundings.

Excellent coffee, nice ice-cream with spirits. Well served. Tasty beer. Prices normal for a touristic place in Bavaria. Very nice if you have to wait 2 hours on your train connection. Service in Bavarian (stay strong)

We went to this place as it’s recommended by Lonely Planet. Our room was spacious and comfortable (but be aware no lift) and dinner on the outdoor terrace was fine - although my Matjesfillet was over-smothered in mayonnaise. The hotel is old and attractive but on the outskirts of a not particularly attractive village.

This is a lovely hotel. Our room was comfortable with a beautiful terrace overlooking the town and hills beyond. Pretty window boxes give the traditional Bavarian feel. The staff are all very friendly and helpful and look amazing in their National costumes. If you struggle with stairs, this might be a problem as there is no lift and the rooms with a view are higher up in the building You get a very good breakfast too.

Well deserved dinner after a day full of hiking. Friendly staff, tasty food, reasonable prices. Very clean and well taken care of. It might not be the cheapest option but worth of visiting for sure⛰🍷

This hotel is situated over the road from the station making it very convenient for catching trains or buses to other locations in the Bayerischer Wald. It is within walking distance of the glassworks and the centre of town. Our room was very quiet - overlooking the garden and with a view across town. The hotel has many spa type facilities including a sauna, mini gym and a swimming pool with various water jets - extra towel and bathrobe provided. The included buffet breakfast was very good. There is also a good restaurant for evening meals.
