Hotel Zurigo Downtown

Excellent location really near a heart of the old town. Everything is near.. Keep in mind it is an expencive law budget hotel, worse bed I have ever seen in my life 140x200 for 2! Way to small, ling as well of the worse quality.deffinitelly not for the quests who are uswd on the high standards.. We stayed here by mistake would not stay here again. O, breakfast is a joke...it is just on the wrong place and it would be far better to say, no we do not have breakfast at all. As for inspection I wonder how they let them work like that...anyway superb location, expencive 1 star hotel with nice and big bathroom that' s about it .. all in all, Lugano is a great place, pick something else!

Visited March 2023 The hotel has an excellent location and is very accessible by car and public transport. The beautiful park as well as the lake are just a stone's throw away. In general, the location stands out, so you can get everything you need to have a nice city trip in a few minutes walk. The economy rooms are rather basic and have not been renovated for a long time, so the wear and tear on the furniture is very noticeable. The bed is very comfortable and if you have chosen the hotel primarily for an overnight stay in a central location, as we did, you will start the day very satisfied and rested. The breakfast was sufficient and of average quality. All in all, a good place to spend a night, no more, no less. The service staff at breakfast was very helpful. The receptionist was also friendly.

Location-wise, this hotel is unbeatable. It is directly across Lugano Central Bus station where you can easily take a bus to anywhere in Lugano (From Gandria to Paradiso) and it is just a 3 minutes walk to Manor shopping area or 5 minutes walk to the lake. ||We were initially booked at another hotel nearby but we chose to change to Hotel Zurigo last minute as we were hoping to have a bigger room (considering our experiences in other hotels leading up to our final destination in Lugano). While it was advertised as 24m2, it definitely felt smaller with limited shelf space to put our 1 large luggage, 1 cabin luggage and the room definitely felt smaller once we placed our baby stroller in. ||The room was clean, but the bed linens were very old. It definitely can do with new ones for a refreshed look. The housekeeping team was very diligent as we always come back to a made-up room in the afternoon. ||Service could definitely be warmer. We were not really pleasantly welcomed at the beginning, with the tone of 'we could have cancelled your booking since we were not able to take the full deposit', despite my writing an email ahead with several room requests. Remember to bring the credit card that you used to make the booking as they require it on check-in. They had authorised the card I had used but because I was not able to present it on check-in, I had to use another card, thus essentially having the same amount blocked twice.||Another point of annoyance was that we were charged CHF20/night for a baby cot. It is the hotel policy, but it was not written anywhere on their website until we wrote to request.

It was poor experience. The rooms are small, old furniture. Breakfast was totally terible. On other side hotel has great position for city trip (but noisy surrounding), Bed was comfortible and good wifi. We found different better hotel for next stay.

The only good things about this property are the location and bus/train pass provided. Room and lobby are bare bones...think Ikea. Nothing in the room at all.like felt like being in a hospital room. The bed was uncomfortable, and the breakfast (average at best) is served in a school cafeteria setting, The woman who say she is the director is unhelpful and and at times rude. She put through the room charge in USD instead of CHF which cost us an additional 40USD bank fee. Any time we asked her a question about anything we needed, all she could say is no to any questions we asked. Definitely would not recommend this property !!

For someone from the UK, it's an expensive hotel, but everything about it is just fine. Clean rooms. Good and friendly service, Nice breakfast. Aircon could be a little more efficient (but it was unseasonably hot whilst we were there)!

Wonderful hotel. Plenty of public space for all six of us to get together. Beautiful rooms with comfortable beds. Location was perfect a block from the bus station. Wonderful breakfast.

I do not recommend this hotel. The bathrooms are the tiniest I've ever seen (except for on a boat). In the morning, some other man walked into my room, since he unlocked the wrong door with his own key. When I tried to tell the reception about this, they pretended not to understand English. There was construction in the street at 11-12 pm, and the walls and windows is not the least soundproof.
