Yelp
This is a 15 room boutique hotel, known around town as the "yoga hotel". Decor and vibe is simple understated elegance. Basic Spanish-style/local decor. White walls, soft colors, rustic wood furniture, cute lighting and tile floors. Lots of lush tropical greenery outside. Everything I needed was there (wifi, bed, bathroom), but nothing I didn't need (TV). I'm usually not an AC person. But with a heat index of 102 and humid, and when you're sweaty and dusty from the walk, it turns your room into a sanctuary.
Staff is friendly, helpful and kick back.
Bed was nice and firm.
Distilled water dispensers throughout the hotelito were perfect to refill my insulated klean kanteen with, rather than having to stock-up on bottled water and carrying it back. Having a mini fridge in the room was a nice convenience too, if anything, for used takeout containers that I don't want to smell or have critters get into throughout the night.
*On-site* rooftop Yoga Shala and cute cafe for breakfast. Loved the convenience!
Tiny pool to dip into when you come from the above-said, sweat-induced, dusty walk from downtown/beach. Don't plan on training for your triathlon in it. It's not overly chlorinated either. Yay!
Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood a couple blocks from downtown and the beach, away from all the hustle and bustle. (See below.)
They make efforts to green: 40% solar, composting kitchen waste, "biodegradable cleaning products throughout"?
Cons:
They use heavily scented laundry detergent and toilet paper. (I know this is popular with many, but...) I lay in bed, surrounded by a cloud of petroleum fumes, and I get to rub it all over my clean body after I take a shower. I'm hoping that, as I wipe my privates with Suave-scented toilet paper, I don't get a yeast infection. With admission to my OCD with this, I like the toiletry dispensers in the bathroom vs small bottles. But I don't trust that I'll like the body wash, shampoo, conditioner or lotion. That's ok, I brought my own...
Congrats, looks like they are expanding! So you will hear construction noise, as well as people at the pool and people talking in general. I can hear it all, being on ground level. But it's all contained within 9am-10pm, so it isn't keeping me up nights. About the construction: they are adding another 20 rooms, slated to finish in December 2016.
Walking to the beach/downtown is a couple blocks away, which can all the sudden be a pain in the a** when you just step onto the beach and realize you forgot your sunscreen... Ug!
Batteries for the electronic safe were low. It just didn't seem "safe" to use.
Their web site says they have free surfboards, boogie boards and bikes. Upon inquiring about the surf boards, I was informed they were pretty beat-up and not worth surfing on. Plus, it's a walk to the beach, so you might as well rent it right on the sand.
Last, the room wasn't equipped with a full-size mirror. This is a pet peeve of mine, and every time I'm in this situation, I start swearing that the hotel must have been designed by a man..
