Hotell Stenugnen

The communication was not good! Based on bad weather conditions we had to rescedule the ferry and couldn't make it to the Hotel. I asked for a refund as this problem was not caused by us. We received the approval personally in the Hotel as well as on the telephone and I started the refund process via Booking.com. Starting from there the Hotel ignored me for two days, even when I wrote a mail inbetween. After two days I only reveiced an answer after calling again and again. There I was told that based on their policy we can't get the refund. So in conclusion, they promised me very directly that it is NO problem to get a refund and then decided differently after two days of not responding to my messages, even after they promised to call me back. This situation is very unfortune and I really don't understand why an exception was not possible after the approval promise from their side. I really hoped to go to the Hotel next year again, but after this experience this will definitely not happen.

I had not appreciated in booking this accommodation that rooms did not have own bathroom. Our room was 1/7-8 on one floor of a 2 stores in a building at remove from main building with shared bathroom facilities amounting to 3 showers & 3 toilets. 2 of the toilets /showers were in one room. This is for all rooms many of which are family accommodation. Had we known we would not have d booked. That said, place was kept clean, breakfast was good & staff very nice.

Absolutely wonderful small hotel! Comfortable in every way with outstanding service from a friendly staff. Very nice breakfast too! I am handicapped and stayed in room 16 on the ground floor, which is partly equipped as a handicap room and is large, so it worked out well for me. An added bonus is that the wall in the breakfast room is the ancient Visby City Wall itself. Imagine that!

This hotel was a suprise. It was in walking distance for a family with moderate lugage. The staff was service minded and accommodating. The rooms was nice and clean. WiFi worked without problems. The gluten-free breakfast that we asked for was served without any need for worry (my wife have serious celiac disease). We even was offered the possibility to take extra lunch sandwiches without payment (we insisted on paying). Great experience.

The hotel is fairly small, but is very welcoming with its 'ship themed' interior design. Furthermore, the girl who works at the front desk, Alva, is such a dear! Apart from always taking time for a pleasant chat and giving us advice on what to do, she also prepared us a few sandwiches on the day we left. Breakfast offers a variation of mainly cold dishes, but there is hot coffee and tea! ||||Hotel Stenugnen is located within the city walls of Visby's old town. So, all the sights, restaurants and bars are no more than a ten-minute walk away. If you arrive (or leave) by ferry, the hotel is merely at a two-minute drive or ten-minute walk from the 'Destination Gotland' ferry terminal. Parking isn't an issue either, as there are numerous parking lots in the vicinity of the hotel (the closest being no more than 50 meters away). If parking gets crowded, you can always leave the car at the long-term parking of the ferry terminal, which - I guess - is always available and no more than a five-minute walk away. ||||One of the few downsides of this hotel is the fact that the walls are relatively thin. At one point, I did hear someone snoring in the room, next door. Having the window face the back of the hotel, makes it very quiet from the outside, though. The other thing that is in desperate need of refurbishment is the bathroom. I understand that it wouldn't be a "quick fix" to re-do all bathrooms, but sadly they stand in sharp contrast to the rest of the hotel. ||||||All in all, Hotel Stenugnen is a cozy hotel in the center of Visby and definitely contributed to my positive overall impression that I took with me from the island of Gotland.

Very close to the ferry terminal, in the middle of the world heritage visby, parking facilities just a block away. Ok breakfast and a nice athmosphere, staff helpful and friendly. Free wifi. Very convenient for a shorter stay in Visby. Most stores and restaurants you'll need are within 1 km walk if you don't have a car. You'll have to walk a bit uphill to get to the shopping center

A businesstay for a week was my reason to be there. A warm welcome from initiating booking emails to the greetings on site where we could enjoy the family oriented athmosphere with a good breakfast buffet and a clean and tidy room, however small I wasn't there to sit in my room. Close to everything, the boat, the nightlife, shops etc. I can highly recomment Hotel Stenugnen.
